rooCASE Multiple View (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover with Adjustable Stand for Amazon Kindle Touc
I recently purchased a Kindle Touch and wanted a cover for it that would stand when I read in the bed, on an airplane, at a coffee shop, etc. This case is perfect. As the previous reviewer stated, holding the cover is bulky when folded for storage. However, what the reviewer did not get right is the purpose for the velcro'd section. When reading the packaging it states that the Kindle Touch is able to be detached from the rest of the cover (the bulkiest part that creates the stand), for the purpose of handheld reading. I almost did not buy this case due to the previous review, but am happy that I did. This cover is great and for the price, it can not be beat. Seems that the simplest of covers run at least $30 in the stores, so this is a steal..and it's leather. I highly recommend this rooCASE for anyone looking for a multi-purpose cover. I will look to rooCASE for any future covers I might need.
I am hard to please and have researched all possible cases, going as far as exploring Canadian and overseas websites (I am a perfectionist)... After all, if the case bothers you, it will be with you for a long time!
First I had bought the iBLASON handsfree case in brown, encouraged by the great reviews and the stand-alone quality. I was disappointed it is an OK case, but nothing like the Roo. It made the Kindle 3 times thicker and of course, much heavier. It did not feel intuitive, the leather was too firm, not to mention, it did NOT have the option to detach the Kindle in its velcro-ed inner case that the Roocase has which I think is a major factor, because it makes the case lighter to hold in one hand (not that the Roocase is heavy, but it becomes even lighter and thinner this way).
Enters Roocase. From the moment I opened the package, I felt happy. When an item is high quality, it just makes your heart sing right when you see it.
1) The only reviewer here who gave this case 3 stars all else gave it 5 stars did not understand the purpose of the velcroed inner case, as was pointed by another reviewer; her second grievance that the screen was recessed and she couldn't thumb it I found nonexistent as well. No problem thumbing and reading with one hand whatsoever!
2) The texture of the leather is very good looking. It looks expensive and VERY well made. It has a wonderful grain to it. When I first put it on my Kindle, my jaw literally dropped. It was so beautiful.
3) The case is intuitive it just feels intelligent, soft-leathered, lived-in and multipurpose from the very beginning. You can detach the inner velcro-ed case, and read with ONE hand OR put it on a flat surface and let it stand on its own! Very handy when eating or doing something else.
4) Despite its complex beauty, the case "disappears" for you mentally, once on the Kindle, as it should.
5) At this mind-blowing quality, the price is a STEAL! I am convinced that Roocase is currently the highest-quality stand-alone case maker for eReaders.
6) I could even find space to stick in a stylus horizontally, on the bottom. Great!
(By the way, if you do own a Roocase, and find ANOTHER case of same or higher quality and roughly similar price range please leave a comment to this post. I'll be happy to know about it.)
When I woke up the next morning, the Kindle in its Roocase was the first thing I saw and it made me feel happy again. My heart was so content that I ordered another Roocase in Magenta for my Nook (i have both Kindle and Nook, due to the crazy competition between the two half of the books are available only on one, and half only on the other e-reader).
I am so relieved after so many hours searching picky me, finally I have a case to love. Whew!
It is unfathomable why there are so few reviews for this case...
Because no one can find it it appears only on page 20 if you search for a Kindle Touch case.... Amazon, this is a crime, given how hard it is to find a stand-alone case for the Kindle touch there are very few on the market, although they are the most comfortable.
It is even harder to find stand-alone cases with velcro (so when you want to hold the Kindle, you can detach the inner, lighter case from the outer, bigger case) it is a great feature! So this case should be on page 1, not page 20! ;-o

One minor piece of feedback for the Maker (if Roocase is eavesdropping): I want to see more colors. Besides Black, You offer only Magenta and Red I imagine mostly teenagers, or girly-girls will like these colors not serious readers, which I suppose is your target market. Please add more colors maybe silver, wine, olive green, yellow-green, or intense dark blue, as is now the fashion? There are so few stand-alone case choices on the market, and it is impossible to find a case that is funky (vs corporate) YET comfortable. So you will gain more following if you make more interesting colors. (And, if you ever do, please leave the central ribbed portion black don't paint it the same color it will make it more unique.) Secondly, the backing of the inner case is hard I'd prefer a soft and thinner backing. It does NOT bother me but it is a tad weird. I won't take points away for these, since none of them really bother me, and probably, no one but me would notice them. In conclusion, I can only say, keep up the great work, Roo!! Everyone else should buy this case immediately and cross this off your To Do list.

So this case more than quadruples the thickness of the Kindle. It is very uncomfortable to hold both cases in the hands due to the thickness and weight. But it is quite comfortable to hold the Kindle with just the inner jacket.
I do love the built in stand. It works very nicely and is great for reading at the table or in bed. You can easily attach a book light to the top side edge. And if you are using it with the stand, no worries about how heavy the book light is. Also, because the stand is behind the unit instead of in front, I think it would be easier to use at the table than a similar cover with a built in stand where the stand is in front of the unit (it wouldn't bump into your plate and you would be less likely to spill food onto it).
When the stand is being used, the unit sits on top of two leather tabs at the bottom, so it is not perfectly stable and bounces a small bit, but it really isn't much of a problem.
4 star rating due to weight and bulkiness and small color selection. Overall a very nice product.This is an exceptional looking case. I scrutinized all the cases for Nook Color online and read all the available reviews and finally chose this one. It's a little heavy, but with the Nook in it, no more than a hardback novel. My only real complaint is when you take the inner case out, the Velcro that is on the back of it (to hold it in different positions upright) tends to snag clothing and blankets. I should probably take an eyeglass cleaner cloth and cover the Velcro with it, but I haven't yet. But I like it a lot, it is elegant and well made!

I pre-ordered this case to arrive just days before my new iPad 2, and it was here in plenty of time. I have bought from this seller before, and will definitely buy from them again. Overall I am very satisfied with this case. Before I begin I will start off by describing the way I use my iPad 2, as how you use your iPad 2 will play a big role in the type of case you will need. I am a busy college student who works with autistic children in their home. I wanted my iPad to be something that could replace my aging back-breaking laptop, this meant my case had to be tough enough to be thrown in a bag with binders and text books (or against a wall by an autistic child), and have a stable typing angle for when I am taking notes or typing a paper. Additionally it had to look great for a fashion conscious apple fan-girl. So here is my run down.The Pro's
-High quality material a bit stiff at first, but so is all genuine leather
-Very protective my iPad has been knocked around in week I have had it, and you wouldn't know it by looking at the iPad
-The case is highly resilient to damage itself, despite being knocked around it looks brand new, not a dent on it
-The typing angle is very comfortable, though nothing is as comfortable as using a bluetooth keyboard
-The case fold's flat which is nice for reading in the vertical orientation
The Con's
-Because of the shape of the iPad 2 the volume button, and mute/orientation lock is angled slightly towards the back, so in a portfolio case such as this it is hard to access these controls but I do not believe this to be specific to this portfolio case.
-It's a little on the bulky side which makes it hard to see the sleek and thin design of the iPad 2 (mind you anything that is reasonably protective will be on the bulky side)
The final verdict:
I would buy this case again because it suits my busy life style, can hold up to my abuse, and the abuse of autistic children. And it looks and functions great. Would love it if roocase made a matching case for the bluetooth apple keyboard to go with.

However, I do wish that I had went ahead and purchased another model in the case series. This one does a great job of holding itself up when you use landscape mode laying down. When I switch to landscape mode sitting up (as the picture shows) it tends to fall backwards on itself. It seems to have gotten worse with that over the 5 months or so since I've owned it.
Absolutely beautiful, can't find a product this nice locally, but a few minor flaws that bring down the star rating on this pad for me.

Pandigital PANSCN08 Handheld Wand Scanner
This scanner is so nice and convenient to just have in my bag when I go to the library and want to scan articles in magazines or pages in books that cannot be checked out; in other words reference-only material. It does a pretty good job at scanning to jpeg or pdf but here are somewhat negative things to consider along with recommendations for dealing with them:1. You cannot see the immediate results of your scan so you always wonder if you got all the stuff on the page you were trying to get. Yes it does have some little guide marks to help you but sometimes a page will crease a little creating a shadow effect on the scan. This is especially possible on very thin magazine paper. My recommendation is you always take at least two scans of pages. The other idea I haven't tried yet is to find a piece of clear plexiglass at a building material store to carry along and place over the pages which helps to make them flat and the scanner will roll more nicely also.
2. The battery is a non-standard rechargeable battery called a CNP-50. If you leave it in the scanner it will slowly drain even when the scanner is off. I remove it after it use and put it in the nice bag they include. You might want to find a spare battery here at Amazon or someplace else to charge and carry along also. By the way; someone else makes a competitor scanner like this that uses easy to find standard batteries; either AA or AAA size.
Buyer beware definitely with this company.

The library charges a lot per copy when you have to copy books that can't leave the library and I've complained about this forever. My mom got me this scanner and its perfect. Saves me a lot of time and I can print the pages at home for way cheaper. And, I have pdf files saved so that I can reprint if necessary. Its been pretty nice. Great price on Amazon for this handy little scanner. Is easy to calibrate, just remember to push the tiny little sd card in until it clicks, otherwise it will not copy photo. Great with photos and for scanning pages. Not suited for scanning photographs at all. When rolling over the photo, it will bend the photograph's edges with its wheel. The scanned image is of very bad quality you lose all of the finer pixel detail. Apart from a poor quality image, the scanner leaves roll marks on the image.Scanning documents the image turns out fuzzy, like a photograph taken of a document and not like a scanned copy of the document.
Also, I found it difficult to roll the scanner steady over the document without either accidentally folding the document or moving it. Even when it is held steady, it's not guaranteed that the image will come out exactly in the same proportions as the original. For example, with some photographs, one part of the photo was slightly larger, such as one eye on a photo.
Another major flaw is that it is hard to tell when the image is done. Once you press the scan key, when you are done it should increase the number of images on its display, but it sometimes does not, so I had to rescan the image and turned out that it appeared twice.
I would give it the smallest possible rating on amazon

PalmOne Leather Wallet Case (m500 series)
The Leather Zippered Case is a must-have for the m500-series owner. Not only is it a very attractive case, but its size is extremely convenient, and its extra features make it a fantastic buy. It incorporates slots for 4 extra expansion cards, as well as credit card slots and an ID card window (inside). Also immensely helpful is the small notepad. It is very easy to slide the PDA out of the case, which is securely held via its left rail. The security of a zipper is not to be done without, especially if you want to keep your Palm free of dirt and debris that can creep into less-enclosed cases. The only thing lacking is a small pen to complement the writing pad, but I personally cured that by purchasing a stylus multi-pen (which is much easier to manage than the m505's included stylus, which fits TOO snuggly in the right rail, and has caused more than one broken nail!). The multi-pen does not fit inside the case, but such a minor issue is not worth lowering my rating of the case.

I had (briefly, before I gave it away) a slim leather case for my Vx and wasn't impressed with it. I got this anyway, because there just aren't many cases available for the 500 series yet. I was pleasantly surprised. If you're avoiding it because you're afraid it will be as disappointed as the V series slim leather case, no need. It's all leather, even the bit that attaches to the rail (unlike the Vx series case which was rubber), and the leather is soft and flexible enough that the case front comfortably folds behind the pilot when I'm reading from it. It even fits around my dual action stylus; the tab closure adjusts well to different amounts of stuff in the pockets. It's pretty slim as cases go. It's nice looking. (The new round palm logo is cleaner looking even.) There are a lot of people at work with PDAs, and they all carry them around in some kind of portfolio-style case. This was not acceptable to me--I wanted a hands-free way of keeping my Palm m505 with me.This case is the answer. The black leather is stylish and durable. And this case is low profile--I bought the m505 partly because it's so small, and I wanted a case that's small too. The Palm fits real snugly into this case, and the case is narrow so that you're not always banging it into things as you walk around.
The only complaint that kept me from giving it five stars are that I wish Palm built some compartments into the flap cover of the case for carrying extra memory cards. But that's being nit-picky.
This is the best way I've seen of keeping your Palm at your side without having to carry it around with your hands.

I have gone through several cases designed for Palms, from a snug-fitting neoprene case to a large Coach case that held a dozen credit cards and a note pad. This case, however, is the perfect one for me.The leather is high quality with a tough (hard at first) finish. As you use the case for a few weeks, however, the surface softens a bit. It is great for business use, but if you are hard on your cases, a nylon or metal one might be a better choice.
Inside, the storage is very handy, and designed specifically for a 505 and SD/MMC cards, so the space is very efficiently laid out. I can fit two credit cards in the slots and two in the clear pocket for a total of three credit cards and my driver's license.
There is also a hidden slash pocket for cash. I took the advice of another reviewer and left the note pad out of my case. It is tiny smaller than a normal PostIt note and adds to the bulk of the case. Since the M505 has the notepad function, I figured the paper was redundant anyway.
One reviewer noted that he was expecting a metal zipper, based upon the photograph of the case. The only difference in the picture and the production unit is the metal zipper pull. The production unit has a leather sewn pull. The nylon zipper is actually preferable as a metal zipper could scratch the Palm unit and would most likely be less reliable over time.
The only minor annoyance I found with the case is that the plastic rail that connects the unit to the case is very snug once inserted. To remove the unit for HotSync/charge takes a bit of effort. Be careful of your fingernails. Once Palm actually delivers a travel HotSync cable and travel charger (whomever was in charge of bringing Palm's accessory hardware to market should be sacked) this will not be a problem as you won't need to remove the unit at all.
This issue aside, this is the best case so far for a 505 if size and utility are an issue.

Transcend 1 GB 80x SD Flash Memory Card
I got this 80X SD Card for my Canon SD450, and it's working great. I researched a lot about high speed SD cards and found this the best value for money. Also, I compromised with a 1 GB card because I think it's quite enough.I have used several cameras (using SD, XD cards or sony's memory stick), and each time I have been transferring the pics there is a very long pause. NOT anymore! On a USB 2.0, transferring the first 150 pictures (each 2+ MB) from my camera to my computer took less than a minute.
For those of you who don't know 80X equals 80 X 150KB = about 12 MB per second speed. I am sure faster cards will give better performance but I don't think you need anything faster than this for the money you pay. Also, shooting using the burst mode (taking 15 pictures in less than 8-10 secs) was a breeze. I researched a lot for these cards and I think this is a good deal. I bought it from one of the outside vendors at Amazon (thememstore) and they gave me good service for a good price.

Value, size, speed and quality are all good, but you have to know what you need to know if this is the right card for you.VALUE
First of all, it's priced well for a fast card (12/2007). There are a lot of slower cards out there with more capacity or sized similarly for a bit less, but $18 for an 80x 1GB card isn't bad. Note the value equation (Price versus capacity & speed) is sure to improve in the next 6-12 months.
SIZE
With regards to size, 1GB (or more correctly 1gB**) is roughly a 10-12 minute VGA quality mjpeg/mov/avi video (or closer to 25+ min in mpeg4/divx) or anywhere from 250-300 very high quality (e.g. very low compression 2:1) pictures. For me, it's a good compromise between usable size and safety large enough for a photo album but not all the pics in 1 album. I bought 2.
SPEED
Now, about the speed, 80x means 80 times the basic read/write speed of 150,000 bits per second (the old audio CD speed standard). Cards that don't claim a speed usually run at less than 20x speed (like 4-8x) for slow applications like MP3 players or data storage. Digital cameras and video need higher speed cards because they have to transfer so much data to clear their working memory to achieve fast burst/follow-up shots and smooth video.
80x speeds will let you take about 3 very high quality pics per second in a 5mp camera, 2.5 fps 6mp, 2 fps 7mp. Some cameras can go faster than this, like 3 fps until the card is full of 7mp pics, but a slow card means lower fps. If you need faster speeds, consider Transcends 150x cards also well priced.
QUALITY
Lastly, I've had no bad cards from Transcend so I have to rate them highly.
OTHER INFO
Some others brands have some attractive features like built-in USB contacts (no adapters!), but it'll cost you (more than double).
SD-HC capacities (greater than 2GB) are offered, but the Class 6 rating (40x or greater) is pretty slow so I'll wait until they have Class 12 or something. Note not all devices support SDHC, but most new high megapixel digital cameras should.
* 7mp cameras with high-speed burst modes may not reach full burst speeds with 80x cards, consider higher speeds if this is important to you.
** It's the old GB (1024 * 1024 * 1024 = 1,073,741,824 Bytes) versus gB (1,000,000,000 Bytes) labelling issue. Probably started with the hard drive manufacturers, but don't quote me on that.
OVERALL
Good cards for my needs and for most point-and-shoots out today.

I love the bright bright bright color to it, I love that it can be easily used for left or right handed people but thats where the love ends. The case had a weird smell to it, the elastic is too close to the edge and well if your not holding the lid and the kindle part it easily rotates on its own. the stand part doesnt hold the weight of the kindle and tends to fall flat. and well all in all you get what you pay for!-V

Everything about this case is great with the exception of not having a cutout on the bottom to push phone up with finger when removing.What happens is that the part of the phone that is exposed is where the volume buttons and on/off are. For me, every time I pull phone out (after it rings, and is active) it turns volume down, and if you do not pay attention, you will be getting silent calls.
The slightly annoying fix is to put your phone in the case upside down.
BTW, shipping was fast, but now there are many other cases that are at at fraction of the cost.

Ok, I have to admit, I was a little nervous about ordering this from China.Let me put your concerns to rest.
Gotta tell ya, I love this case. It's is a quality product.
It shipped much faster than Amazon quoted me, very pleasantly surprised.
The soft leather feels great on the outside.
The inside has a harder textured plastic like feel to it.
The clip seems to be constructed well and works very nice on my belt.
It stays on when you take out or insert your phone, and pulls off nicely when you want the whole thing off your belt.
I've even bumped the bottom when sitting down and it stays securely on my belt.
It has a nice tight snug fit to hold the Galaxy Note.
I use a TPU case over the phone and the PDair case will expand enough to securely hold it and allow you to remove the phone without pulling the PDair off your belt, everything stays in place.
It has a stretchy material in between to allow for a little expansion.
If you feel this would suit your needs, I say go ahead and be confident with this purchase.

I waited a little while before I rated the product. Seems to be holding up well, the cork feels good in your hand. It is a perfect fit.That is correct please read again if you will. It is for "First Gen. iphone". If you have a first gen. iphone it will fit; I cannot say about other versions of iphones, but again for "First (1st.) Gen. iphones it is a, so far so good product.

PalmOne Zire 31 Handheld
I purchased the Palm Zire 31 a couple of weeks ago and so far I love it. I installed the software and had my palm up and running in less then 30 minutes. The CD that is included with the palm allows you to install optional software. When my old Palm M130 died a few months ago I started looking at all of the different handhelds that are on the Market. I ended up purchasing an expensive HP IPAQ due to the fact that it came with a Windows based operating system. I had nothing but problems. I finally decided to go back to Palm. After using the IPAQ for several months I realized that I did not need all of the fancy features that came with it (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc). I need a basic handheld that would allow me to calendar important dates and store information such as addresses, phone numbers, etc. I also wanted one that could store pictures and games and other miscellaneous programs. I originally wanted the Palm Tungsten E but after reading tons of negative reviews on several different websites I quickly changed my mind. So far my palm is working like a charm. I have installed tons of games and programs and I have not had any problems. One thing that I would highly recommend is purchasing a back up program online (I like My palm automatically backs up all of the info on my palm to my SD card every time I sync it. To eliminate the stress of having a faulty palm I would also recommend purchasing the extended 2 year warranty if it is available. I purchased it for an extra $19 and if anything goes wrong with my palm they will replace it with a new one.The screen is only 160x160 but I am not going to be watching movies or playing high resolution games on my palm. The pictures look descent but I only attach pictures to the phone numbers in my address book. I only play basic games like card games and board games and as far as I can tell, they look fine. The only thing that I don't like about this palm (and the reason I gave it 4 stars) is that the plugs for the sync cable and charging cable are on the side of the palm and not the bottom like on all other palms. Also, the flap that they give you to protect the screen is very flimsy. I use it to protect the screen while it is in my purse but I plan on buying a protective case. Other then that, the Palm Zire 31 definitely suites it purpose.
If you are looking for a basic handheld that is inexpensive and will help you stay organized, the Zire 31 is perfect. On the other hand if you are looking for a handheld with Wi-Fi capability or Blue tooth or if you plan to play high resolution games or watch movies then you might want to look at the higher models (or maybe even consider a high end Dell or IPAQ).

Ok, this is my first PDA...so i dont know very much about it. But if youre in the same boat, then read on.I searched and searched...looked at the Zire 21, Sony Clie TJ-27, and every other PDA in this price range.
And then i came across an amazing deal: a Zire 31 for $142...
wow, what a bargain. This PDA does everything i want, and MORE. Not only can i keep track of all my contacts, etc etc...i can view photos (and put them in the background)...
it comes with two e-books...Last of the Mohicans and The Wizard of Oz...
it comes with a really cool Database system that has area codes all over the U.S., airline phone #s, Hotels, dietary info for a whole bunch of foods and drinks...
it comes with solitaire...and an Expenses program to keep track of credit card and bank account balances...
there's an MP3 player included, which i havent used (because you need to purchase an SD memory card separately...and because i just dont want to drain the batteries for that...i mean, for the same price as an SD card, i can just buy a Sony Minidisc player that runs on one AA battery, and save my PDA battery -which isnt user replaceable, so only has a certain life-span).
Hot syncing...where you transfer info from your computer to the PDA and vice versa is incredibly easy. Just touch the button on the screen, and tada! magic. Done.
This PDA gets a 4 out of 5 for one reason and one reason only: the screen. 160x160 isnt bad resolution...but it isnt good either. I mean, it's just fine for me, because im not using it too much, and im not serious about viewing pictures and stuff like that. However, i often find myself playing around with the brightness, contrast, backgrounds, and color to find something that's easy and beautiful on the eyes. It takes a while, but youll find a setting that makes you happy.
If youre a beginner, get the Zire 31. A big step up from the Zire 21...and better than the Sony Clie TJ-27 in terms of price and practicality...i mean -who wants a real crappy digital camera anyways? Dont bother with it...if you want digital pictures, get yourself a real digital camera (i.e. Canon Powershot A75).
One last thing -i almost forgot --... dont listen to people babbling on about the 90 day warranty. As long as you get this PDA from a self-respecting retail store, youll automatically get a one-year warranty from them. And you can purchase an extended warranty for about $20 or so. For something this cheap, they'll most likely replace your PDA right away if there's a serious problem. Check with them first.

If you're looking to replace your bulky Day Planner with a pocket sized handheld, the Zire 31 is definately the way to go. Spend the extra $50 to get the 31 rather than the Black and White 21. The only real difference is color, but on a small screen, you need it.Palm handhelds are all extremely user friendly. Turn it on and you'll find the layout very intuitive and easy to use. There is no learning curve on a Palm (unlike a Pocket PC). This is a good gift for anyone who says, "computers are too hard" but needs help getting organized.
If this is your first handheld, the screen size and resolution aren't an issue. If you've never used a better screen, you don't know what you're missing. Don't go looking for something to make you feel bad. Also, if this is your first handheld, why spend extra money on a more expensive model before you know if you'll ever use it or not? If you get it and hate it, you're not out much money. If you get it and love it, Palm has a trade-in program which will get you a discount off your next purchase.
That said, if you have fantasies about gaming on your Palm, this is not the one to buy. Try the Tungsten E (currently running around $200.) If you want to replace a dayplanner, this is a perfect choice.
The Zire 31 itself is a very basic device. You have an (outlook compatible) calander, an (outlook compatible) address book, and an (outlook compatible) task list as the core features. These are a great help in getting you organized. The programs are a breeze to use again, no learning curve. People who are terrified of computers should find this very learnable. Those used to computers will wonder why everything isn't this user friendly.
If you want to do more than organize your life, you can get a ton of additional Zire compatible software through PalmOne.com or a variety of third party sources. These run the gamut, including old school game classics like Ultima I and II, Fittness and Diet tracking programs with diagrams of muscle groups, and checkbook balancing programs, plus tons more. I highly recommend the fun and addictive "Bubblet."
I never bothered with the graffiti pad, instead using the optional onscreen keyboard. You can peck words out with your stylus without having to relearn handwriting.
Once you get used to using a handheld, you won't want to lose your data. BUY A HARD CASE. I can not emphasize this enough.
My Zire died in the first 2 months due to a swift impact on the touch screen. This is a problem with ALL handhelds, whether Palm or PPC based. Get a metal hard case (no leather, it's not strong enough) and rest easy if it gets dropped. Some people are very careful, but then there's the rest of us. Look through the case reviews and you'll find plenty of people bemoaning losing thier 5th handheld in 3 years. Save yourself the misery at the beginning, by buying a hard case with your Zire.

Purchasing a PDA/Smartphone/Camera/etc. can be a daunting task. There are too many choices on the market, and too many confusing reviews. I am thrilled with my Zire 31, because it does everthing I need, and not too much more. If you are considering this PDA, don't be put off by the many reviews that claim it is right for novices or technophobes. In fact, I believe it is perfect for the serious business user, because it does what most professionals need.Firstly, it is light and compact. So no problems to take it with you to each and every meeting (my former iPaq always seemed bulky). Secondly, it syncs perfectly with Outlook (and with OS X, too, which means I can finally sync my work PC with my home Macs). The color quality is good enough for showing a few pictures of the kids. It is the perfect tool for managing a busy work and home schedule. My only complaint is the MP3 player. I wish they wouldn't have included one. Who needs it? The unit could have been even smaller without, no doubt!
More positives include the lack of a camera. Why would someone especially a busy profesional want to take pictures with a PDA? I already have a digital camera, and I take it with me on trips if I want to capture a few moments. And the quality is excellent.
Fortunately, the Zire 31 also lacks bluetooth and wi-fi capability. I carry my laptop with me everywhere. Who wants to surf the web on a handheld, other than a masochist? Crazy. This might sound like a must for a busy executive, but from my experience, your laptop is the way to go mobile over the internet. I never travel without my laptop, which has both wifi and bluetooth. So problem solved.
Another advantage is lack of phone functionality. My advice: buy a proper mobile phone. Most combination PDA/phones look terrible. The Treo is a good example: it's too bulky (although sleeker than most), and in the end you get an expensive PDA with too many features and a so-so phone. And you can never leave the "phone" or the "PDA" at home. You are stuck with both of them. It's not a feature, it's an inconvenience.
Some people have discussed the poor video quality when playing games and watching videos. Hello? You are a busy executive and you want to play Doom on your PDA? Give me a break. And don't get me started about people who try to watch videos on their handhelds. Crazy.
If you are looking for something to help organize your life, the Zire 31 is what you are looking for. Use your laptop for emails and surfing the web on the run. Use your mobile phone to call someone. Use a proper digital camera to take pictures. And get an iPod if you want to listen to music. You won't be carrying all of these devices around all the time, believe me. But you'll have quality devices that do what they should, and not much more. The Zire 31 is part of this strategy. Very good at what it does, and thankfully it doesn't do too much more.
You can't go wrong with this handheld, and don't believe anyone that says it isn't a serious business tool because it lacks wi-fi or the ability to take poor quality pictures or watch dvd's on a 2x2 inch screen.
