Device works ok. Main purpose was to scan Chinese, Korean, and Japanese characters (from business receipts) into Google translate. This works okay but does require many do over's to catch the characters.

HP iPAQ HW6900 Series HW6945 HW6940 Pocket PC Smartphone Handheld

I've been using this PDA phone for 2 years now and it's excellent! I bought TomTom GPS software for it and works great. Keeps me super organized with the calendar, contacts, and task options. I used it a lot for Nursing references and drug book. Phone-wise, can't ask for more. It uses the contacts from the contact list. Phone sound quality is nice and clear. I also like to take it jogging using the Media Player. Syncing with my Outlook is a breeze. Wifi is a nice touch for airports and while away from the computer. I didn't do the data plan with the phone, but I'm sure that would be another nice option if you like that sort of thing. Overall, very happy with the product.

I am very disappointed with this product, IPAQ 6945. Battery life is frequently less than a full day. Using WIFI, the GPS, or being out of range of a cell station will drastically lower the life of the battery. I can no longer find an extended life battery. When I originally wanted to buy an extended life battery and I wondered with the sales rep how it could fit in the current battery compartment, the rep did not know. I was afraid if I bought the battery and it did not fit I would be out of luck. The rep I spoke with on the phone could not calm my fears. A good return policy would have sufficed.

The battery that shipped with the phone did not work well with the battery life indicator in Windows Mobile. Batteries from other manufacturers reported the remaining charge more accurrately.

I did have to return the phone once for service and after we got my issue back from India or Pakistan the service was just wonderful.

Once an application is started it continues to run until the user stops it or the phone is rebooted. This seems to make the system run slower and slower. The way an applcation is stopped is to go into system settings, then into memory and click stop.

With Windows xp or equivalent I am used to frequent updates of the software. I don't see any easy way to get updates installed on my phone.

Hitachi 4gb Digital Microdrive High Speed Memory Card

After 40,000 shots, 2 cameras, 1.5 years and many drops, this chip still performs perfectly. I've used it heavily and aggressively and have had a great experience at a great price. Its almost as fast in write speeds but slower in read speeds during computer upload. There are some myths about the chip that its slow and fragile, which I'll explain below is just totally wrong.

Speed:

On my old Canon 20D, I got its full claimed buffer in RAW and JPEG. On my newer Canon 5D (12.8 megapixel), I get 17 instead of the 19 claimed RAW pictures during continuous shooting, and I pretty much can't run out the JPEG (well over 50). I've used the Sandisk II, and after some testing, I found that the write speed was almost the same, but the read speed is about 1/3 slower when loading onto the computer. Not a big deal, since the write speed is a bigger priority while shooting. Yesterday, I loaded the whole 4gb chip into Apple Aperture in 14 minutes.

Space:

On the 20D or 30D, you'll get almost 500 in RAW, but on my 5D, I get under 280, so I'm now shopping around for a 8gb chip. You might try the 6gb rather than the 4gb since its getting cheaper.

The "Fragile" Myth:

People always say that the microdrive is more "fragile" than the compact flash, which I can say with absolute certainty is B.S. Most people who criticize the microdrive have never used it or known anyone who used it last time I checked, judging without knowing is called ignorance, no offense.

Anyway, I shoot my college football team, for the college newspaper, and frequently I do landscape and wildlife photography, so I'm frequently taking the chip in and out of my camera and dropping it on occasion. I've have used the camera at 20 degrees, in the hot and humid Florida sun, and have had a light sunshower, but yet the chip keeps going after 1.5 years.

Also:

All microdrives are made by Hitachi, even from Sony. Hitachi bought the division from IBM a few years back, and Hitachi will sell under other names for more market share. Don't waste your money on stupid brand image, just buy the one you find cheaper, which is probably the Hitachi.

Many people say, this chip doesn't work with this camera, especially on older reviews. If the firmware on your camera is old, it may not support any large chip, so update your camera first.

I bought this microdrive a year ago for my new Nikon. I guide on adventure travel trips and wanted a way to store a bunch of high resolution photos. I have not regretted the purchase one bit. I have used it often at high altitude and in sub zero weather. How high? Base camp at Kanchenjunga, Nepal, the third highest peak in the world, 18,500 ft. And, on the top of Kilimanjaro, 20,000. The drive is slower at those altitudes, but then again, it was below zero. The first time you start up the camera in very cold weather, it SEEMS to get a little longer to fire up the microdrive.

My drive needed formatting. I read somewhere that its better to do it attached directly to the computer. So, I plugged the drive in a memory adapter plugged into a USB port of my computer. Worked like a charm.

Works flawlessly in my Nikon D-70. I still use my 60x write speed CFII card for action photo's but this is a great backup card for non-action photography.

I bought two of these 4 GB drives from different vendors and about a year apart, yet I have had the same problem with both of them. At just over 1 gig of photos it starts giving me 'corrupt image' notices, and I have gotten to where I can tell when it's going to happen, because when it does, the camera's display stays on too long after I have taken a shot and then all of my manual settings are reset. I am trying to find research on why it does this, because the reason I bought 4 gigs was so that I did not have to worry about backups while traveling. Now I have to take my laptop or a secondary backup device with me on long trips, which can be cumbersome when travelling internationally, because when these errors begin to happen I have to backup the drive immediately and re-format the card or I can't even continue taking photographs. I have a Canon Eos that's only 3 years old, so the camera should not be the problem.

AGPtek® USB Programming Cable for Baofeng UV-5R UV-3R+ Radio With Software

I was hesitant purchasing this cable and software CD. Many reviews of software / cable packages indicated users had problems installing the proper versions of the software to work with their cable. According to the reviews on those other cables, people were trying to overcome an issue with using Prolific software on non-Prolific cables. This was not an issue with this purchase.

This cable and software was installed on my Windows 7 machine; I followed the instructions and it worked FLAWLESSLY the first time.

After running the installation CD, the driver that's installed for this cable to work is provided by Prolific Technology, Inc. The driver version is 3.3.2.105, dated 10/27/2008, ser2pl64.sys.

I first installed the software from the CD, then plugged in the USB cable to the computer (in that order). Once the cable was connected to the computer, a pop-up balloon window told me the cable associated with COM 3. GOOD! I then started my radio software (CHIRP) and it auto-detected the cable at COM 3, and I was able to download the radio data to my computer on the first try. NICE! No computer reboot required, either.

EDIT: From Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT), I right-clicked on Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and wandered through the properties. On the Driver tab, I manually told Windows to update this driver (newer should be better, right?). With the latest online update installed (driver version 3.4.36.247 dated 7/26/2012), the cable failed to operate. The Device Status then read, "This device cannot start. Code 10." Looks like we have a non-Prolific cable. To return to the OLD driver that WORKED, simply click on ROLL BACK DRIVER on the same window. Don't update the driver and you'll be OK.

The cable had one of the counterfeit chips in it, and so it does not work with Windows 7 x64 drivers. If you're going to counterfeit the chip, at least take the time to tweak the drivers so that they will work.

I've been using this RooCASE for over a month . I am very pleased with it. The case has a seperate leather frame with a thick felt backing that has Velcro attached to adhere to the inside of the portfolio. A magnetized back flap to prop up the tablet and case to a vertical viewing position between 90degs to 45degs. The case has two zippers that securely close the case for easy portability. Several pockets are located adjacent to where the tablet is attached, for note paper and other small items. I keep a small note pad and my instructions, as well as a spare screen cleaning cloth stowed in the pockets. Also, an elastic loop is located in the interior fold to store a pointer, pen or pencil.

All buttons and plugs are clearly accessible when the A700 is inserted into the leather frame. Cameras and light sensor are provided with necessary windows. The A700 frame must be detached from the case by seperating its Velcro fastener to use the 5Mp camera. The stereo speakers are completely unobstructed.

I have the portfolio propt up on my knee, as I am reclined, while writing this review. The quality of the rooCASE Executive Portfolio is outstanding. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Purchased for my wife's new Tablet...she was quite pleased and the look and feel is nice. She is also able to carry extra docs in the pockets. Would recommend this item.

I bought this case since I had a Toshiba Thrive and needed something to carry it around in as well as to view it. The rotating feature was a big selling point to me as well as the free stylus pen. When I received it I was disappointed to see that the stylus pen was about the size of my pinky. The 360 degree rotation is accomplished by physically taking it off of the velcro attachment and then reattaching it in the upright position. Not spelled out in the description of the item. I was under the impression that it just rotated on a pivot point. The material it is made out of is a vinyl and slippery so you will need to hang on to it with a tight grip. Coincidentally, I received an email offer two weeks later from another merchant who was offering a similar product but with locking tabs, charger, free battery, docking station and screen cover for $19.95!!! Oh well, the merchant was nice enough to give me a $5 credit. Word to the wise, Amazon is not the cheapest nor the place best to shop, especially when the product does not meet your expectations and you have to pay return shipping. In the future I will only do business with merchants who offer free returns since I am buying a product, sight unseen.

The Azden transmitter-receiver system has operated marvelously well for me over scores of interviews. As an aspiring video maker it was a product I should have bought a long time ago.

Mine is the 9v-powered model, not the AA. But it has proven well-made, light and easy to use.

There's something neat about micing people with a lavaliere unit. I find that they enjoy the attention of attaching the mic and the professional touch that it brings to the taping.

Being able to range abut the room while taping and simultaneously retaining good audio is a remarkable experience. Another benefit of micing someone is that cuts way back on ambient noise. The din of voices surrounding your interview is a typical intrusion; using the lavaliere cuts out a great deal of the unwanted sonic information.

Overall, this is a good investment for beginning videographer. It works as described, yet I found that it's sound needed post work if it was going to be presaentable. My standards are not unrealistic, yet I was disappointed when I first worked with this mic. It comes with a lavalier mic, and a handheld. Of the two, the handheld pickup better, and is more manageable. Both only record in mono, so you have to set your camera to place the signal on the two channels, or do so in postproduction.

Still, if you wish to use a mic that is dependable, is inconspicuous, and has a small learning curve, this mic could serve your purposes.

Affordable and effective. Didn't pick up a lot of background music or talking, and got a good deep sound from the person wearing it. Used it for a wedding and the other wireless systems used didn't interfear with it's opperation nor did the background clog up the mic.

The Azden is a reasonable, reliable, and low cost way of stepping up your audio abilities to the wireless level. I've used it professionally in many occasions, and have mixed opinions. I just have the lavaliere (not the handheld).

1. Don't expect superb sound quality. Mine, at least is blaring when it comes to audio levels... it will max out your camera's audio input unless you can turn down the mic input. It provides rich lows, but is very weak on the highs. You can't boost the highs too much in post, because then it highlights all of the audio "fuzz."

2. It's best for convenience, not distance. Use it as a convenience to avoid wires, but don't expect it to work solidly from 100 feet away. As you move farther away from the receiver (more than 25 feet), you'll start to run into dead spots and random static.

3. CELL PHONES WILL MAKE THIS THING GO CRAZY. The transmitter and receiver are highly sensitive to cell phone interference. Everybody within 25 feet of you will need to turn off the cell phones completely, or you'll get that annoying cell phone buzz.

4. Battery life is pretty darn good. I've used the same batteries for hours beyond what they suggest that you do.

Overall, it's a good place to start if you're doing amateur or small scale productions. But if you're client is paying $1,500 for a TV commercial, you'd better have a good Sennheiser or Audio Technica to meet production standards.

Mono sound but I am impressed with the quality and range. The included video demonstrates the potential to broadcast, (from a fixed/non-moving position,) up to 300 feet. I personally would limit a wired, moving person to 50 feet. The microphone cord acts as an antenna and any movement beyond 50 feet can cause interference.

This is a good alternative to the $500+ you would spend on a more professional stereo system.I purchased this for use with a Canon VIXIA HF M300 Flash Memory Camcorder. The Azden is full shoe while the Canon is mini shoe. You will have to purchase either a mini/full cold shoe adapter or a camcorder stabilizing handle which has a cold shoe on top.

It's totally plug-and-play with a new Windows 8 desktop. All I've used it for so far is pairing a keyboard and mouse (which were probably Bluetooth 2.0-ish), but I've no complaints. Doesn't seem to have much "reconnect" lag after periods of inactivity like I've had with some previous bluetooth receivers with these the same peripherals, so that's nice.

Packaging is super basic, and there are no instructions, but seriously, you're spending ~$15 for a component you stick in a rear USB port and hopefully forget about after that, so that's fine.

I've used a lap top my entire life so this is my first desktop. What a difference ! It's speedy and holds a lot of memory. I had no issues with set up and its running like a charm. It took a few days to get use to Windows 8 (coming from XP & 7) but 8 is better.... excel is the worst where they changed stuff around but word is the same from what I can tell. Adapt and overcome is what I say..... go for 8 !

The only thing bothersome is that the charger plug thing gets stuck on the holster sometimes when you are taking the phone out. Its the best phone case I've ever had.

This case provides a high degree of protection for the Motorola Defy but is still convenient to charge and relatively easy to use ( the front cover tends to get in the way when talking on the phone). I feel confident carrying the phone knowing it won't be damaged easily.

Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC (Black)

I wanted a bluetooth mouse to go with my new Macbook Air, so I didn't have to worry about cords or plugging in a receiver. But, this mouse is not compatible with OS X Lion! I could not get it the bluetooth connection to work, and their website is useless. I took it back to the Mac store and the tech guy could not get it to work either. He even opened another box and tried it, same result. I went somewhere else and bought a Logitech bluetooth mouse, which connected right away. So, it's not OS X Lion that is the problem, it's this mouse.

I've had this mouse several months and it worked well with my Macbook Air running Snow Leopard. However, after I recently upgraded to Lion it would no longer pair. I contacted tech support and they informed me that the mouse was not compatible with Lion and there were no plans to issue a driver update. Rather, they will release a new version of the mouse which will be compatible. Unfortunately, customers like myself who still have the old version are stuck with an unusable mouse. This is rather galling as I purchased my mouse after Lion had already been released and there were no disclaimers in the Amazon description stating that it was not compatible with LIon.

Complete disclosure: I'm a big fan of Macally products.

The mouse arrived. A nice touch were the included AAA batteries. My Mac Mini and the mouse didn't connect happily until I rebooted. I rebooted and they paired immediately. So far they have maintained their connection and movement or a mouse click have woken the Mini up right away.

The mouse design is typical Macally: Not stylish, just beautifully functional. It's black with silver band around the middle. The buttons give good resistance and you can hear the click. The scroll wheel has good feedback and you can feel "clicks" as you scroll. I appreciate this response better than the "smooth" feel of some scroll wheels.

The manual (which takes about 30 seconds to read entirely) gives a URL to download the Mac drive for programming features. The website says it is for OS X 10.4 and 10.5. My mini has 10.6 and the driver didn't seem to install properly. I haven't heard back from Macally tech support. So far, I've been able to live without the drivers, but I do want to know what I'm missing.

We cannot get the Bluetooth program to read the mouse at all anymore. In fairness, maybe it's our Bluetooth program, I don't know. We had problems the entire time with our Bluetooth recognizing it.

Wireless USB Presentation Remote Clicker Pen

I bought this product for classroom presentations. It has met my expectations. I am so glad that I saw this item on Amazon before I went elsewhere and spent more money to get the same results.

Somewhat cheap feel, light thin plastic, but it works well. Good range from about 15 yards away, plenty big enough for a lecture hall. Laser works fine as well. This is the same product as the laser pointer which looks similar but costs a few bucks more and has many reviews. It's not the best presentation remote, but at this price it exceeds expectations and does everything it needs to.

My first cheap presentation remote was the one from another manufacturer that comes in the little zip-up pleather clamshell case, which is commonly sold here on Amazon as well, and it worked really well for a while. However, the esoteric 9V (or 12?) battery it uses is hard to find and costs around $2 each. I found that I was going through about one per semester, so I had determined to replace the remote with one that uses AAAs when the opportunity arose.

It started getting flaky after the second semester and a few trade meeting presentations (so around 80 sessions of use, approximately). Sometimes a single press of the advance button would result in it "sticking" and zipping through to the last slide. Not good...

So, i bought this one due to its use of the AAA battery type and its nifty stowaway USB dongle. Some concerns I had were that it would be too much bigger and bulkier to be comfortable (it was hard to tell looking at the stock photos), and that it wouldn't work as well as the other remote.

My impressions:

I DO like the stowaway dongle feature. It's not so much the convenience of carrying it (although that's nice) as it is the built-in reminder to recover the dongle after use. The reduced weight and empty dongle bay are a great reminder.

The size is not awkward, although it's not quite as sleek as the other remote (which is itself not something the late Mr. Jobs would approve of). I am satisfied with the form factor, and can clip it in my shirt pocket like a pen, just like I could with the other remote.

The buttons do have to be pushed down more completely than the other remote (this was commented on by another reviewer). Unfortunately for me, this means that it's very hard to advance just one slide at a time. I tend to not mash the button hard enough, accustomed to the "normal" (IMO) tactile response of the first remote. When I do push it down completely, it tends to send multiple "advance" messages to the computer before I can release it, and the net result is that I always seem to be fumbling around during presentations, double checking that i didn't skip a slide. This is not a good endorsement for a presentation remote...

The biggest problem of all is that it is intermittent. Sometimes it will work every time I push down the button (albeit a bit spastically, as described above), but then it will go for minutes without working properly. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with distance or any factors I can control.

The LASER of this remote seems much brighter, and definitely holds up much longer. I considered getting another remote with two AAA batteries because of how quickly the first remote's LASER would fade out, but I have been happy with the endurance of this one. Besides, it's cheap and easy to keep an extra charged AAA around...

In summary, while the concept and design of this remote is better than the first one I had, the implementation or at least this particular specimen is faulty. If the remote control portion worked as well as my first remote did at the beginning, this would have been an easy 5-star product. I give it 3 stars because of the AAA battery, the better LASER performance, and the stow-away dongle, and because I have to assume (based on other reviews) that some of them work as intended. On the basis of my specimen alone, I'd have given it 2 stars, because it does work as a laser pointer and most of the time as a remote -just not one that makes a presentation smoother and more effortless.
