It's totally plug-and-play with a new Windows 8 desktop. All I've used it for so far is pairing a keyboard and mouse (which were probably Bluetooth 2.0-ish), but I've no complaints. Doesn't seem to have much "reconnect" lag after periods of inactivity like I've had with some previous bluetooth receivers with these the same peripherals, so that's nice.

Packaging is super basic, and there are no instructions, but seriously, you're spending ~$15 for a component you stick in a rear USB port and hopefully forget about after that, so that's fine.

Plug it in, and it just works. It worked for Windows, and Linux. I use it to play music all day on my Ubuntu 12.04 machine at work.

Nice for the price and easy to install, I have no complaints about this product. I am able to connect all my bluetooth devices to my Windows 8 laptop including my car stereo.

Need more testing but it works real bad with my 4-yr.old HP laptop and Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphone.
