WiPry-Combo

I was hoping for a simple way to view electronic signals in my home. This tiny device does what it advertises but is short on interpretation instructions. The manual is very detailed in how to change the settings and operate all the on screen buttons, but provides zero information on how to interpret what is on the screen. Having never used a spectrum analyzer before, I suspect most of my problem is related to my ignorance of how other spectrum analyzers work.

I sent an email to the manufacturer requesting more information on why to use the various settings and how to interpret what the screen showed. I received a friendly and partially helpful answer in a very timely manner, but it was way too brief to really help. I suspect I will have to do some serious research on the use of spectrum analyzers before being able to use this device as I intended. I plan to make another effort to communicate with the manufacturer in the future to see if they can be more helpful.

It is a nice little package and a lot cheaper than a stand alone spectrum analyzer. For the home experimenter it is useless without serious information on how to interpret the pretty pictures it displays. I gave it 4 stars for looks and function as it seems to perform the advertised tasks nicely, but cannot give the extra star for lack of interpretation instructions.
