I bought this case because I had a hard drive for my original release 360 and it got the RING and after looking around on the net I found that the bulky case that was on it was exactly that a case so I took my drive out of that case and put it in this case and presto it worked like a charm and no errors popped up on my new slim 360 so if you have one of the original release consoles I recommend this so you can transfer content with no cables. And if you don't break your original style case you can freely change them from one console to another.

If you do not want to buy the standard xbox hdd then this is def the way to go. i had an extra laptop hdd laying around and i was able to format it for my xbox and pop it in.

If you want to use your old XBox 360 hard drive in your new XBox Slim, you need this. Getting the old drive out of it's case requires a little effort as you need a Torx 6 and Torx 10 driver to remove the screws... however once the drive is free from the old casing, it pops into this case with little effort and fits right into place in the slim.
