Sharp YO-140 Handheld PDA 32KB

Sharp YO-140 Handheld PDA 32KBAlthough product has no back-up capabilities nor Wi-fi (SHARP suggests backing everything up on paper), I found this product to be very handy. And, you can't go wrong with the price. Has exactly what is described in the product description. Organize your thoughts, time management, contacts, etc...

I am a financial analyst and i wanted an organizer to record all my tasks and schedual and To do list of the day with cheap price and not so much fancy with other tools that i may not use. This is just it. It contains Calendar Schedual 3 Telephone indexes A Memo Anniversery To Do List Expenses and calculator also it comes with a backlight. i was just surprised when i first unpack my device that it doesnot start but it was a battery problem, batteries were depleted. as soon as i changed them it worked just fine so for anyone who thinks about purchasing this product, get a battery with them.

Overall it is a very usefull and cheap device and i am so happy with it.

Thanks

made in 1998. the steps you take to enter info? well, how much time do you have? old-fashioned, out of date, and wait till you go to retreive something. "ALL PRODUCTS SHOULD HAVE A MANUFACTURERS DATE AS PART OF THE DETAILS GIVEN". this product is ridiculoussss. how do i know 1998? that was the date on the calander, and the batteries were dead, and the replacement cost? $11.50. SOMETIMES EVEN THE UNIVERSE HAS TO LAUGH, CRAZY PRODUCT.

Hard Drive Enclosure Replacement Case Shell for Xbox 360 Slim Microsoft HDD

Hard Drive Enclosure Replacement Case Shell for Xbox 360 Slim Microsoft HDDBest bang for your buck. I bought two of these to use in new arcade units utilizing older 360 hard drives. Works perfectly.

I bought this case because I had a hard drive for my original release 360 and it got the RING and after looking around on the net I found that the bulky case that was on it was exactly that a case so I took my drive out of that case and put it in this case and presto it worked like a charm and no errors popped up on my new slim 360 so if you have one of the original release consoles I recommend this so you can transfer content with no cables. And if you don't break your original style case you can freely change them from one console to another.

I swapped my old xbox 360 hard drive into my new slim black 360 using this.. perfect and cost effective solution!

Want Hard Drive Enclosure Replacement Case Shell for Xbox 360 Slim Microsoft HDD Discount?

If you want to use your old XBox 360 hard drive in your new XBox Slim, you need this. Getting the old drive out of it's case requires a little effort as you need a Torx 6 and Torx 10 driver to remove the screws... however once the drive is free from the old casing, it pops into this case with little effort and fits right into place in the slim.

rooCASE 2n1 Wrapper Sleeve Case Cover (Convertible to Stand) / Mini Capacitive Stylus for Samsung G

rooCASE 2n1 Wrapper Sleeve Case Cover / Mini Capacitive Stylus for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 / Dell Streak 7 / BlackBerry PlaybookWhile this item is leather and my Dell Streak 7 fits in it (extremely snug fit though) I'm very disappointed with the "stand" feature. It doesn't hold the tablet up at all, I have to put something behind it to support it.

I know it says "wrapper sleeve case cover" but it is not really a cover. For use, the tablet must be removed from the case cover and unless one is using it as a stand, the case cover must be put elsewhere. Outside the case (as when it is being used) the tablet has no protection.

VuPoint PDS-ST510-VP Receipt Scanner

VuPoint PDS-ST510-VP Receipt ScannerI wanted to like this but can't. Didn't buy it here but this is what I discovered: This small version of the Vupoint handheld scanner (also referred to as magic wand jr.) uses a 4.2 V rechargeable polymer battery that's impossible to replace. Mine came with a dead battery that won't charge. Called Vupoint who instructed me to mail it back to them and they'd replace the battery for me. I searched high and low for someone online who sold these and guess what? Nobody sells them. I chose to return the scanner and purchase the larger model which takes plain old AA batteries.

The product was smaller than I expected but works well. The install for the software went flawlessly. I would have thought that it would have some on board memory but I am sure excluding it keeps the price down. Over all I am satisfied with this purchase.

The scaner works as addvertized except ; At scan window on bottom side of device there is a step that catches the recepts when trying to scan from noroller side toward rollers.

Title says it all. This thing is quite impressive, but I ended up buying a desktop scanner because my scanner needs are generally 8.5 by 11 inch pages. With this one, and downloaded software, you can stitch multiple scans together, but way too much trouble considering how inexpensive multi-function printer/scanner units have become. I scanned my passport with this. Just big enough, and the resolution, including the photo was very impressive.

I've used a number of other headsets for paintball over the past few years and this is the first that I'm really in love with. The button is HUGE which is great for being able to find it without looking for it. The coil on the cord helps keep it out the way of my other gear. The sound quality is is nice and crisp. This is also the first headset I've had that didn't hurt my ear after a day of wearing it with my mask over to of it.

5 stars all the way; would buy again without hesitation.

Apple iPhone Screen Protector

Apple iPhone Screen ProtectorThis doesn't even come close to covering the whole screen! Definitely wouldn't recommend if you actually want to protect your entire screen.

I'm used to the screen protectors from (they really are the best), which cover the entire screen and have a separate sticker for the button. They are thin, flexible, a little rubbery and you put them on using a little soapy water to remove all bubbles.

This is a stiff plastic with a cut out around the button. I guess I didn't clean the screen well enough because I've got a few bubbles that won't go away. And it has a weird sheen to it.

If I had to choose, I'd go bestskinsever every time but I tried to be cheap.

Easy to put on, stays on, keeps the screen clean, no differences between touch screen ability with it or without it. This was a good, cheap investment.

It works great and stays shiny. I'm still using it. But trying to get the air bubbles out of 3 of these, I pry the corners up to squeeze out the air bubbles and the corners never stick again. So sure it works and if you can get the bubbles out first I would expect this to be a 5.

Belkin PDA Stylus Pens for Palm III & VII (3-Pack)

Belkin PDA Stylus Pens for Palm III & VIII had a 3-pack. I dropped one and it broke into 2 pieces. Another rolled off a desk and shattered.

IMHO something this small and light shouldn't break when it falls 3'. It must be made of the cheapest junk on Earth. How the he** can they screw up something like this???

I think I'll go get a stick and whittle it into a new stylus..... It'll take less time than ordering a new pack, and it definitely will be more durable. Will wood scratch my screen?

If you use a palm pilot you'll probably need extra pens. For some reason, over time the pens loosen up in the holder and fall out, which mine did. So, I purchased these.

Since you can do so much more with a palm pilot, like actually writing on your touch pad, I haven't converted to using my phone for my handishopper. I'll continue to use my phone as a phone until I can hand-write on the touch pad; then I'll make the switch. Until then I need extra pens for my Palm III!

The item was shipped quickly and I was happy with the transaction.

For iPad 2 Slim Case Work with Apple Smart Cover White

For iPad 2 Slim Case Work with Apple Smart Cover WhiteMy husband ordered this for his ipad and he absolutely loves it. He loves the sleek design because it's not bulky. Super quality I definitely would recommend this to anyone.

This is an excellent product. I have had it on my iPad 2 for approximately a year or so and I couldn't be happier. I am a mother of 3 young children and also have my iPad 2 with me all the time, where ever I go. Along with the excellent screen protector I have, this back casing has kept my iPad 2 in excellent condition. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking into different accessories for their iPad. It was an very reasonable price, received it in a very timely manner, and have had absolutely no problems with it. Extremely pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking into purchasing this product.

This item is merely ok! It slips on the back of the iPad, however after some use, you will notice that it slips off really easily. Because it only is on by a few corners and sides due to the iPad cover and magnet covering one side, it is held on on limited surfaces. The cover doesn't stay on, the edges and sides come off easily especially when you stick it in your bag or briefcase, when you pull it out, chances are the cover has come off altogether or at least part of it is. I have since removed it and thrown it out!

Zagg LEATHERskin for iPad 2, Authentic Black (FGLSLTHSCBLK97)

Zagg LEATHERskin for iPad 2, Authentic BlackThe skin is probably fine. Beware however or this particular seller: wrong product code is listed and wrong product will be sent to you.

Zagg LEATHERskin for iPad 2, Authentic Black(FGLSLTHSCBLK97)is not cut for iPad2, but for iPad, and it is clearly stated on the package. If you need skin for iPad2 look for Zagg LEATHERskin for iPad 2, Authentic Black, product code LSLTHSCBLK97. Good luck!

I like the feel and look for the Zagg Leatherskin. It lets you have a nice grip on the iPad 2. It was easy to put on after reading others and took extra time and care to make sure the fit and look was right. Got it on the first time with success! The only drawback is that the leatherskin makes the iPad 2 now unable to be charged in the cradle. You can use the regular charge with it thou.

Fantastic, durable cover. Matches beautifully with the leather smart cover. Installation was simple. This is, however, a thicker cover than the traditional Zagg skins. It adds 1/8" thickness to the iPad. Not a big deal unless you have a hard shell case that you want to continue to use. The one that I have won't fit with the LEATHERskin on my iPad.

Kanguru Flashblu 2 4GB USB Flash Drive

Kanguru Flashblu 2 4GB USB Flash DrivePerfect tool for IT professionals. You can lock the unit before plugging it on any system to prevent USB stick infections (infamous Conficker virus and others around). Hardware lock is unbreakable, in contrast to software locks (programs installed on the drive to make it read only) that can be hacked by viruses to infect the unit.

Very handy to repair infected systems by booting from the unit or using it to copy tools on target for cleanup or repair. Very good price for such a useful device! No more worries! I'm really pleased!

I purchased this as a replacement for another write-protect drive that had died on me and couldn't be happier. The speeds are great and the write protect switch works in real time without having to unplug the drive or have it stop and be re-detected.

These are great for working on infected or possibly infected computers without having to worry about something jumping to the flash drive and then back onto a clean machine.

I am very pleased with the Kangaroo Drive with the write protect switch.

Pros:

* Very functional write-protect switch.

As a technician, I found a very usable USB drive which I can use with confidence on machines that might be infected with mal-ware. Having tested the write protect switch I am very pleased with my purchase.

* Rugged aluminum casing is a definite plus

Cons:

* Cap protecting USB connector could be easily misplaced. I would like some form of rugged attached protection for the connector.

* My only regret is not purchasing a larger one.

Obviously, anyone who gets this USB stick is getting it for the hardware write-protect switch. Which is tiny but feels solid and works awesomely.

It's a shame this feature is so rare and you have to pay a premium price when you do find it. That said, this drive is extremely solidly built and just screams both quality and reliability, so you do get a good value for the money. Kudos to Kanguru for that!

It really is the perfect drive to keep a bootable rescue system on (or in my case, multiple WIM images using a boot manager selection menu) and never have to worry about cross-infection or unwanted file alterations.

The plastic cap sits quite tightly on the connector end and offers great protection, no worries about losing it here. One reviewer mentioned that you can put the cap on the other end while using the drive this is true, but not possible if you also have a lanyard attached. It's one or the other.

The Kanguru isn't screaming fast maybe 4-5MB/sec write and about 15-18MB/sec read, but for its intended purpose the read speeds probably matter much more and are totally sufficient booting from it takes mere moments.

All in all, a great little product which I'm glad I ordered.

Want Kanguru Flashblu 2 4GB USB Flash Drive Discount?

In this age of increasingly sophisticated malware a flash drive with a physical write protect switch is a must.

This has become my go to drive when i need to connect to a machine with dubious security. I keep a few essential utilities on this drive.

Since I am not using this to move data back and forth I really can't speak about transfer speed as compared to other USB 2.0 flash drives.

Those few times I do update or add software to it I have not noticed anything unusual about transfer speed.

The drive came with a lanyard, clear plastic detachable cap and appears to have a body made of aluminum.

The write protect switch is on one of the narrow sides and has a clearly marked unlock graphic for reference.

If you find yourself needing to connect to unknown computers the Kanguru Flashblu 2 4GB USB Flash Drive with write protection enabled is a nice solution.

PDair VX1 Black Leather Case for HTC ThunderBolt 4G

PDair VX1 Black Leather Case for HTC ThunderBolt 4GThis black leather PDair case appears to be a pretty well made product. The only case I could find that was better made was $50 more. I thought I would despise the white contrast stitching but it is not as bold as it looked in the photos. (I'd still rather not have it, though).

The case is a bit tight. I actually bought one for the HTC Thunderbolt, slightly larger than the HTC Incredible 2/S that I am using it on ... and it's still snug. I did that hoping I could keep the protective silicone case on the phone, but no-go. The phone alone is a snug fit and again this case is intended for a phone that is about 4mm wider and 2mm deeper.

The inside of the case is leather, but rough textured. The manufacturer should put microfiber or silicone or faux fur or something else like that on the inside.

Still, even with those minor gripes, this is a durn nice case for the money!

rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) Leather Case Cover with Landscape / Portrait View for Acer Icon

rooCASE Executive Portfolio Leather Case Cover with Landscape / Portrait View for Acer Iconia Tab A500 A501 10.1-Inch Android Tablet Wi-FiI ordered this case for my boyfriend's Acer tablet, for his birthday. Shipping was relatively fast, and the case is awesome. It's really the best case out there right now for the Acer tablet. The velcro on the back of the case that fits around the tablet is a bit rough, since it's not the "soft" part of the velcro, but given the design of the case, it makes sense to have it that way. Overall a great case, and it's classy enough to use for business if need be.

great craftmanship, materials are really nice. very sturdy feel. zipper pulls are really high quality. the kick-out stand has an internal magnet that keeps it in place. it's a bit pricey, but if you're looking for something that will definitely last a long time and will remain functional and aesthetically pleasing, this is the one. i'm very happy with this purchase.

I just got this rooCase from the UPS guy, This is very top notch....I love it already, I first purchased the Acer OEM Case and I returned it because it did not keep my Iconia A500 in place very well. The construction on this rooCase is very nice, I really like the way it looks and it reminds me of my leather day planner, It has a strong sturdy feel that is a plus for me. I also like the fact that the stand has a magnet to keep it in place. If you want a really nice case for your money, Do your Acer Iconia A500 a favor and buy this.

The RooCASE portfolio for the Iconia Tablet is by far the best I've seen, I tried several portfolios. The first was portfolio I tried was the Targus Iconia tab portfolio, it was constructed poorly and broke the corner place holder when I first tried putting the tablet on in, returned that. The second was the Solo generic holder this worked ok but the combination of rubber corner straps and cloth corner straps would block several of the ports and it did not hold the tablet in place well so I returned that. Finally I found the roocase on amazon and ordered it. Beautiful black leather folio and the sleeve is custom made for the Iconia and id detachable. So you can carry the device in the folio but remove it when at the office or home.

The only con I have is that the folio by itself is a little heavy so I wont rate it at 5 stars.

Want rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) Leather Case Cover with Landscape / Portrait View for Acer Icon Discount?

This case for the Acer Iconia A500 is very nicely made. It is real leather, which is precisely what I wanted, and it is a harder style leather so it is more protective than many leather cases. It holds the tablet and the stylus I purchased very snuggly and I really like that it has the removable sleeve. About the only negative would be that there is absolutely no extra room in there for anything else, but it doesn't advertise that it would have so it is just as promised.

LG Electronics LSM-100 Scanner Mouse

LG Electronics LSM-100 Scanner MousePurchased this at Wal-Mart on 06-07-2012 for $119.00. I figured it might come in handy doing quickie document archiving for my vinyl cutting.

Tried the image scanning out (it is fair quality for a wand scanner with some brightness variations on the scans). I don't think the image scanner part of the mouse is horrible given the hardware limitations imposed, but the 300 DPI images are not really "print quality" in my opinion, however are fair enough to use for web graphics. When you scan or OCR with this mouse, you have options after scanning, rotating the image + adjusting hue/saturation/brightness/contrast + rectangle crop lines to PASTE IMAGE or PASTE TEXT into an open text or image processing program. That works rather well, but I wish I could also copy images back into the scanner interface to get a usable OCR text copy back. You can only use the images you have recently scanned using the mouse for OCR purposes at the moment.

To scan a page, just click the "SCAN" button once which starts the onscreen scanning review operation (very nice extremely useful interface in my opinion though it monopolizes the computer's screen), the mouse remains scanning without the "SCAN" button being held until the mouse scanner runs out of working RAM memory, or the mouse is lifted off the surface, or both surface tracking sensors are considered "Off Page", or you click the "SCAN" button again to move onto the scan rotation & Image Cropping stage. After that stage you can PASTE IMAGE or PASTE TEXT to an open program or email the image to one of the popular image sharing websites (I haven't used that "Internet Sharing" feature though). When scanning the scanner mouse will continue to align the image slices if only one mouse tracking sensor is "on page" though you should be careful against rotating the mouse when only one sensor is on-page. YOU MUST OVERLAP SCAN SLICES WHEN SCANNING THOUGH. If you do not overlap the scan slices (in sort of an "S"-shape pattern), the auto-image-stitching program will not be able to rotate or align the image slices to give you a useable result. The mouse will fail to scan if both tracking sensors move off page without a surface being directly under it in terms of millimeters (like with a magazine or book). The scanner automatically realigns, rotates, and blends the individual image stitches of the scan slices as you go, but if one of the sensors move off-page + the mouse is rotated, the mouse scanner can misalign these image slices although you can simply rescan over the goofed up areas to correct these misalignments most times. Some scanning misalignments are caused by the surface-mount LEDs blinking off for a quarter-second though at random times during mid-scan when the LED lights usually remain on until the "SCAN" button is pressed again to stop scanning. This could be fixed with another pair of tracking elements on the left/right sides of the mouse scanning glass (one near the camera element on the mini-board the other might be impossible to insert on the right-hand side of the mouse).

The LG Scanner Mouse comes with a fine black felt cloth bag to store the mouse in to protect the glass scanning plate from damage and two CD-ROM discs (one Mac / one Windows so if one doesn't work, the other should on your PC unless you use Linux). It comes with a mouse pad with a translucent flip cover to enable scanning small paper items without them sliding all over the place under the mouse. You also get the paper manuals written in the standard multi-language irksome format (probably will be multi-lingual Rosetta Stones to future generations when dug out of future landfills).

The OCR is quite exceptional though and that is why I purchased another LG Scanner Mouse the next day for my boss at work to simplify his publishing efforts). The mouse comes with an 8+10/16 inch wide by 7 inched height mouse pad with a translucent scan area of 8+10/16 inches wide by 5+1/2 inches tall flip-up cover mouse pad for scanning small business cards, credit cards for numbers (point of sale scanning), and envelopes. I purchased both LG Scanner Mouses for the OCR alone as the mouse function as a mouse itself rather stinks although the mouse surface tracking is very good.

The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) powered by ABBYY FINEPRINT SOFTWARE does indeed work as promised and has a high success rate in function. It will read many fonts correctly on many surfaces without much fuss and convert them into the correct text formatting and words (enough that my next purchase will be the ABBYY FINEREADER 11 PROFESSIONAL EDITION OCR software package itself $92.99 from Amazon.com). It will read white text on blue backgrounds and black text on yellow backgrounds along with most Helvetica fonts, Times Roman (serif), etc. That part of the package promise is 100% true (so long as the image contrast between text and surface is high). It will read fonts on textured backgrounds so long as the texture is very low contrast against the higher contrast text (black text, red text, on a white-beige linen business card).

Let's get to the unpleasant facts of this mouse as a mouse though. First problem is the cord. It is sticky. Not glue or Wacky-Wall-Crawler toy sticky, but not slippery enough to slide around easily on the table as the mouse scoots around and this can make the mouse movement jerky. Second big problem is the shape and texture of the mouse. The mouse is about 1/5 longer than my regular computer mouse though the shiny-polished top looks great, it is slippery. The click buttons are real easy to click. With the slippery shiny-smooth top texture leads to lots of accidental twitch-clicks just in gripping the mouse. The shape of the mouse is an inverted trapezoid (left side is straight up | right side is insanely slanted /, so the mouse looks like this |__/ when holding it) and this makes it grasping the mouse properly painful in the hand's Superficial Palmar Branch despite the rubberized smooth-grip textured sides. I figure the slant was put into the design to allow book scanning, but it does not work for proper mouse holding. With the mouse being 1/5th longer than a normal mouse plus lacking a rubberized spot to rest the palm of the hand on, the hand just slides off. The mouse has 4 buttons and a mouse wheel click-button. One is a dedicated "SCAN" button, the rest are non-programmable (causing severe annoyance from the permanent "BACK" button being near the SCAN button). As the hand slips around trying to grip the pain-inducing design on the top, accidental clicking of the left-mouse button or the right-mouse button, or the "BACK" button becomes irksome & annoying. Let's just say, in the current design this is not a Gaming Mouse (which is a shame as the surface tracking is great) or a CAD mouse or much of an Internet Browsing mouse because of the slippery surface design and the horrible slanted-/ right-hand side with all of the random miss-clicks resulting from just trying to hold onto the blasted thing for any reasonable period of time (I have big man hands 3+1/2 inches wide & 3+1/2 inch palm length with the middle finger being 3+1/8 inches long and normally use a larger mouse and this is slippery & PAINFUL to use over a 5 minute period, gah, imagine the suffering of a smaller handed person or a pre-teen with this mouse).

With my Logitech G9 mouse, the butt of my palm rests on the mouse pad and the left/right buttons are easily clickable. With the 1/5th longer shape of the LG Scanner Mouse, the butt of my palm has to rest poorly on the slippery mouse top or the left/right buttons are very difficult to click. This is the main reason for the LG Scanner Mouse's failure as a Mouse when my hand then begins to slip off the mouse leading to accidental miss-clicks in trying to retain grasping the mouse. The |__/ shape of the mouse means I have to stretch the pinky and ring finger farther to grasp the right-hand side properly which leads to the painful sensations after very short mouse usage time.

Now onto the unpleasant facts of the scanner. This mouse has 2 motion sensor elements (which do make tracking accuracy exceptional) one at the top-middle of the mouse & one at the bottom-middle. The image scanner glass element is to the right-hand side of the bottom with a mirror reflecting the light off the 4 surface-mount LED elements (which only turn on when the "SCAN" button is pressed) with the digital camera element being in the bottom of the mouse without any secondary focusing lenses. You can use this scanner to image through a glass cover so long as the paper is flat and pressed very near the glass cover. You won't be scanning books easily unless you flip it upside down to get the scanner plate near the inner margins of the pages (no scanning easily a book through a glass tabletop either sadly). If you lift up the mouse, the optical surface tracking sensor elements will send an alert stopping the scanning until you reposition it near the last scan location. Putting the tracking sensors nearer to the top & bottom of the scanning element would've been a better choice instead of aligning them to the center of the mouse. Putting some lens elements for longer distance focusing like a cameraphone to switch between MACRO and PHOTO imaging would make this mouse superior or just using two digital camera elements (one for Macro zoom / one for long focus) or using the (GOOGLE it) iPhone 4 Rear Camera replacement ($29.95) element with an automatic macro lens (small magnifying lens) slide-over mechanism would make a superior mouse scanner imaging system (GOOGLE up "Clarifi iPhone 3G macro lens case" for more information). For scanning books, with an improved iPhone image sensor, two easy ways to do that -include two iPhone image sensors for 3D sensing of surface depth (three in a equilateral triangle would be the best though) or a cheap infrared blink element for macro depth sensing. Using the iPhone image sensor element(s) plus macro lenses might also do away with the need for any extra surface tracking elements too if you use them in "night mode" for simple mousing with an infrared light for illumination of the mouse pad (switch to Photo Image Stitching Mode for longer range non-macro imaging if scanning a curved book or using the mouse as a digital camera).

Summary, GREAT OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION (not for handwriting though) FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES (the primary reason I have purchased two of these already and are considering purchasing another 2) with okay functional image scanning, excellent surface tracking, exceptionally workable quick scanning interface. The BAD, sticky mouse cord, pain-inducing too-long + weird right-side slant mouse shape in the hand, too slippery on top, poor location design for the surface tracking elements & too few in current design, needs a better dynamic imaging camera like the iPhone 4 for both macro & photo modes to allow taking photos and to allow scanning open books with irregular curvature. My purchase is to scan text into OCR usable text for quick information entry and then it gets slipped back into the nice cloth sack that it came with in the box to gather dust. It is a good product for the function of OCR or lower-quality image scanning, but really is painful & unusable for usage as a regular computer mouse despite the excellent surface-tracking function by its using two laser-scan eyes at the top & bottom of the mouse.

(This should be my final review edit on this product for clarity & intent, I tend to get sloppy and write emotional "Blurt Reviews" when I am excited, without too much editing self-restraint in terms of functional grammar and conceptual clarity).

top tool!I use to skip lots of potential scans because it was interrupting my workflow , now it's always at hand and it includes OCR : probably did more scans in the past 10 days and in the past year (and no comparison with trying to take a picture with your mobile ... !). The image capture works amazingly well. The mouse ergonomy is the only thing I say could be improved a little bit.

First off; the scanning works very well, even on a Mac (MacOS X Mountain Lion).

Unlike those old handscanners, this scanner really stitches your scan together very well, in a very good quality.

Just keep in mind that lifting the mouse during scanning is a no-no.

Unfortunately; this mouse is [for me] not a mouse I'd want to use on a daily basis.

It feel very uncomfortable (I prefer mice like Logitech M510) and unnatural.

Having said that; setup was a breeze, and getting used to the way you scan a page is easy.

In the end I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

Are you looking for an easy to use handscanner: I really can recommend this product.

Are you looking for a handscanner that is also a daily use mouse: I cannot recommend this product, as a mouse it fails.

This scanner mouse is amazing! You can easily scan any document. With a text document, that scan can then be pasted as editable text (can change languages) into ANY program that uses text (i.e. Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, Amazon Reviews) and edited, or you can edit the scanned document before you paste, or the scan can be saved as an image. LOADS OF VERSATILITY! The software that comes with the mouse auto-straightens everything you scan.

The following is an example of a document I scanned then pasted into this review. Notice how I edited the text (capitalized part)in the document.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF CONSUMER RIGHTS UNDER THE FCRA (ISN'T THIS AWESOME???)

A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (I LOVE THIS MOUSE SCANNER)

The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) promotes the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of information in the files of consumer

reporting agencies. (I'M SMILING) There are many types of consumer reporting agencies, including credit bureaus and specialty agencies (such as

agencies that sell information about check writing histories, medical records, and rental history records). (THIS IS THE END OF THE BORING SCANNED DOCUMENT)

Simple, huh? I ran the mouse over the document(took about 15 seconds)to scan, clicked the button on the software window(comes WITH the mouse scanner), then pasted it into this review. All from the comfort of my recliner.

No expensive software needed, no large scanner machines. Just a mouse that attaches via USB port. EXTREMELY BEGINNER AND USER FRIENDLY!! And all for less than $100 (price when purchased in mid-February.

PLUS, when you're not scanning, the little miracle works as a regular mouse REALLY? YUP, REALLY!!

I've had this mouse now for a few weeks.

Install was easy and painless. I have a Windows 7 machine and it installed the mouse right away. Driver disc comes with it to enable you to scan images. Very easy to use the scanning feature to scan an entire page or just a section if that's all you want. After you are done scanning, you can edit the size of the picture you want to save to your pc and can even drag the scanned image to a word document and it will turn it into text. This is great!!! I have found a few fonts where the software had a hard time with a few of the letters but 95-99% are perfectly transcribed :).

The neat thing is that it also includes a share option to share on social network apps like facebook :). Shared a few pictures that my daughter drew with my friends.

The mouse has a shiny finish on it and looks super sharp :)

Couldn't be happier!

Only thing I wish for on this is for it to be wireless.

Thanks LG :)

Serial Adapter - Plug-in Module - Compactflash Card - RS-232 - 921 Kbps

Serial Adapter - Plug-in Module - Compactflash Card - RS-232 - 921 KbpsI purchased this to connect a Dell PDA to a Raven GPS system. It works very well for this combination. I have also purchased a "non-ruggedized version," and I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary. It is little more flimsy in the connection between the cable and the CF card, and extra care needs to be taken when handling the "non-ruggedized" version. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

I did not like it because it would not work for the application for which I purchased it. I was using it to access a Vaisala 555B weather station. I tried an early version Quatech Model: SSCFR-100 which worked great with my Dell Axim X50 PDA. I don't understand why it would not work.

We have been trying to use the I/O card with a Jornada 548 with Fowler Gages' digital calipers and Taltech's CE-Wedge software. We were warned by Socket Communications that there was a potential problem with freezing up if the serial com port was not turned off before turning off the computer. Based on this, we purchased the card and were careful not to do this, but found that after 1-3 hours of work, the computer froze up to the point that we needed to remove the battery to get it to turn off. Based on this with 2 computers, we do not recommend the combination. Socket agrees that there is a problem with the driver, but has no plans to make any changes. Suggests using a Compaq IPAQ instead.

Easy installation for my Casio E115, I used it to connect to a barcode scanner for stocktaking a warehouse. The speed is ok (I wonder if there're 4Mbps models anyway?), and the connectors seem to be stretchable and durable enough for the job.

Acase Kindle Fire HD Case - New Kindle Fire HD 7 Inch Tablet Cover / Kindle Fire HD 7" Tablet Premi

Acase Kindle Fire HD Case - New Kindle Fire HD 7 Inch Tablet Cover / Kindle Fire HD 7' Tablet Premium PU Leather Case with Flip StandI was so pleased when I received my new Acase for my Kindle HD 7 earlier than was promised. It is everything it describes itself to be and much more. The case is definitely high quality leather, but what really pleasantly surprised me was the feature (which was not advertised) that my Kindle HD turns on when I open my case and turns off when I close my case. I love this feature. I would highly recommend this product to anyone as it truly deserves its 5 star rating!!!

I didn't want anything that added a lot of bulk to my Kindle Fire. I wanted a quality product, a professional look, and options for standing my Kindle when I'm reading or working. I read a lot of reviews and noticed that this cover also has an opening for charging, while some other covers did not. This also has the nice feature of turning on when you open the cover and going to auto-sleep when closing the case. The light magnet in the case keeps the cover secure and the Kindle fits perfectly inside. Thank you to the other reviewers for helping me select this very well priced cover.

I first bought the Amazon case ($45) but thought it was quite a bit overpriced for what you got. Plus it didn't really stand up that well but instead continually slipped on my desktop and my headphones wouldn't plug in because they didn't leave a large enough cut out for the headphone jack. So I returned it and got this much cheaper case ($15). So far, I really like everything about it.

Pros:

Feels thin and "booklike" when closed

My headphones plug in fine

Magnets hold the flap closed

Auto-on when the flap is open

Two different angles for standing it up (landscape only)

Charging and video out jacks are accessible when closed

Cons:

In my opinion, having cutouts on the case spine are a little funny

Case isn't designed for standing in portrait mode (but I knew that going in)

Great quality item for a great price. It fits my Kindle perfectly. The front cover folds all the way behind the Kindle and locks to make its own stand. This is the 2nd case cover that I have bought under the ACase brand, and both have been well worth the purchase.

1-21-13

So, with a short amount of time the leather starts pulling from the inside material. The stand really doesn't hold very well either. It was a good price but if I am going to have buy another case so soon, perhaps it would have been better if I purchased the nearly $50 Amazon case.

I received this in black as a gift, and I am having to send it back. The problem with the one I received is that it is slightly crooked so that the front flap sits about 1/16th of an inch askew. I can push it and make it look straight, but it goes back crooked within a few seconds. It does close nicely. And the automatic sleep feature works very well. The cut-out also is not uniform, so the camera eye is obviously not in the center of the case. The case seems like a factory "second." For something I am going to handle a lot, I want something that I'm not going to constantly want to straighten, ... like a picture hanging crooked on the wall. I plan to swap it for a replacement.

Since i posted this, I have ordered and looked at two other cases (not this brand), and they are not any nicer looking, although one of them does have a handle that makes holding it easier.

Second revision: This case is very similar to CaseCrown Bold Standby Case (Black) for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Inch (Built-in magnet for sleep / wake feature) . BUT the CaseCrown case is definitely nicer! Side by side the cases look almost identical, and the cover closes nicely to work the sleep function. The CaseCrown, however, has neat stitching all the way around the inside part that partially covers the bevel, whereas the Acase is cut (slightly crooked) with no stitching. This makes it look kind of cheap. It almost looks like the same case made by the same manufacturer but with slightly different specifications. The difference is in the details. Am changing my rating of the Acase from a 4 star to a 3.

If you think you'll like a simple, professional black-book look, you'll probably prefer the CaseCrown to the Acase. Mine is black, but the burnt orange looks nice, too.

Micca Slim-HD 1080p Full-HD Portable Digital Media Player w/ 2.5-Inch HDD Drive Bay

Micca Slim-HD 1080p Full-HD Portable Digital Media Player w/ 2.5-Inch HDD Drive BayThe Micca Slim-HD is a good little portable media player. I purchased the device for a recent conference overseas the intention was to connect it to a large HDTV screen through a HDMI cable and run it continuously for 4-days with a looping video from a 500Gb Western Digital internal disk-drive.

As time was running short, I decided to purchase 2 devices one to use as a primary device and the other as a redundant fall-back should the first one fail. When the shipment arrived I noted that the design was a little flimsy. I would have liked to see a tougher enclosure particularly given that it is designed to be portable and can easily be knocked around. In any case, I inserted the internal drive and went to power it up as per the instructions. Unfortunately, the first device did not work so I was relieved that I had purchased the second as a redundancy. I contacted Micca support using the form on their website and in a relatively short period of time "Jack" emailed me and suggested that I buy a 3rd device and return the other through Amazon. I did that and within days the 3rd device had turned up only to find that the power supply did not work. I emailed Jack again and he sent me 2 new power supplies. While there were issues, I found the customer support to be very impressive. Jack even called me at one stage to talk through the issues.

As for the functionality The device will play most popular video formats. I found that some perform better than others. Jack suggested using the MKV file format which I found performed the best out of the many formats I tried. Out of these I found a couple that did not work including the high-end Apple ProRes codec . For most users this won't be an issue unless you're planning to use a professional editing studio to produce your own video content.

The most annoying thing about the device is its speed. At this stage I've only used the internal drive which Jack tells me is the quickest out of all the interfaces but it's still very slow. Finding video on the device isn't convenient but it's not too painful. It's about 3-4 clicks to find a video. The slow responsiveness may also be due to the remote. I find myself clicking buttons several times before the device responds to a command. This is probably due to the limited angle on the remote (you must be directly in front of the device for the remote to work) and the slow responsiveness of the device. As an example, several times I've tried to fast forward through a video only to have the screen message tell me something different the actual video is fast forwarding but the onscreen display is telling me it's rewinding. Also, I've also found that on occasion video files do not appear in the folders, so you have to re-copy the file to the device so yes, there are bugs in the software.

I consider myself a demanding user of the device and expect a lot. Keeping this in mind and given that it's more intended for home use, I was impressed with the system it does what it says it will do. The hi-resolution video looked impressive on the big screen and it performed will over the 4-days of continuous use. There are some limitations that are annoying but easily overcome. If you're looking to use this for a simple portable video player you won't be disappointed. I think the price point is a little high given that new devices are constantly entering the market with internet connectivity, more functionality and better interfaces, so I'd expect to see this drop some time soon.

All-in-all it's a good device which is well supported by Micca's customer service team.

This little unit plays all the major video files and plays them well. With the bonus of being portable. One connection using HDMI and your good to go. Remote is very well desinged and the unit looks fantastic. I added a 320GB hard drive but also tested both the SD card and the USB for playing video. I tested every format that is listed except RMVB and all played with top quality full HD. (Did not have an RMVB file to test). None of the other players I've owned could do this. I've been building HTPC's for about 10 years and have experienced the progress of many portable media players. I have the Xbox and used it to stream video: Too much trouble. Owned the Avox JukeBox by Vantec: Very limited file formats and remote is terrible. I've owned the Dlink DSM 510: Great product but very finicky. Locked up a lot and no internal storage. Owned the Galaxy Metal Gear Tvisto Mini: Nice product but limited formats and took a mess of cables to connect.

Nothing beats a Home Theater PC for quality and usefulness but this Micca slim is kick ass for a portable player...

I would recommend for anyone needing a portable video player. In fact, if you don't need the full features or expense of an HTPC then this unit would make a good HTPC alternative.

I give the Micca Slim HD 4 big stars! A super small, portable, capable media player. I updated to the latest firmware available. I withheld the last STAR for:

1: A few playback issues It cannot play older DivX codec and WMV8/7 codec.

Re-encoding those older files will be a waste of time.

It cannot play VOB files at all

2: The remote Micca needs to improve or boost the IR signal of the remote control. If you

don't point it correctly it's very sluggish. If you're going through contents of

a 1TB external hdd, you will soon find your arms getting tired because of the need

for you to point the remote just at the right level.

Micca also needs to add more functionality on the arrow buttons

(up,down, left, right). I would be nice if you can use the left/right button move

forward/backwards within directories, instead of tirelessly depressing the

"Exit" button to move from one folder to the next. Also the exit button

needs to be just as big as the OSD button since it's constantly being used.

Powering "OFF" the device with the remote is fairly easy but for some

reason powering it "ON" via the remote can be quite a challenge . I have to

point & press at least 3x before it powers on.

Lastly, for some weird reason the DOWN arrow button of the Micca remote

can power ON/power OFF my old single DVD player(I removed the old

DVD player to solve the conflict)

3: Micca's LED power light should turn on/off, a better indication to let you know if the unit

is on or off. Instead it remains on 24/7.

4: File description function does not work: When browsing files, on the top left there is a file

attribute section. Good idea but it does not work. Selecting a file does not

display any information on that file. It would be nice if the file info section

would actually display file info, an icon or a thumbnail for easier browsing.

Back to the Micca Slim HD: This tiny device is an excellent media player it can play many different video formats that you throw at it. Contrary to other reviews, the player itself is very responsive and quick to locate files on a USB external hard drive, flash drive, or an SDHC card (have not tried the internal drive yet since I don't have a 2.5" drive)

Without an internal drive, the Micca Slim HD is very light. I have to twist the HDMI cable so it doesn't keep the player slightly tilted to its side.

I tested several 720p/1080p video contents ranging from 5mbps 35mbps(HD-WMV,HD-DivX,HD-XviD,HD-MKV) all files played without a glitch. Many SD video contents played very well.

All in all I highly recommend Micca Slim HD player if you want to watch all your media collections on your HDTV via internal/external HDD.

On a side note: It would be nice if Micca included a simple HDMI cable instead of the very useless composite cable.

05.28.2011 -

UPDATE: I finally bought a 2.5" 500GB Western Digital 'green' hard drive. I copied all my encoded mp4 & mkv files on it, installed it in the Micca slim HD player and I'm glad to report that it recognized the 500GB internal hard drive with no problems and played all my movie files just fine...

11.07.2012 -

Another UPDATE: THE GOOD: Yes, my Micca HD-Slim is still alive and kicking...THE BAD: It's sad that I cannot update the HD-Slim firmware to the latest one because the one posted on the Micca site is just a patch for v120107.. The instruction said I need to have v120107 installed before I can install the latest update. Micca support is unresponsive. I contacted them 3x but no luck, they will not send me the download link of firmware v120107.

NOTE to MICCA Store --Why in the world are you guys hiding the firmware updates?

This is a hard one, because the product is really great. I do read among the other reviews that there are quality control issues, however I haven't run into that.

This is a product I have long dreamed of. A portable device that I can use as a good travel hard drive and also plug into any hotel TV and watch my media with a remote. I say any hotel TV because some hotels have LCD TVs and HDMI but some have old TVs and need composite. Before the Micca, I was using an Archos for this duty, along with a Wii controller for remote control. Before that, a SageTV HD200 and portable hard drive (bulky as heck). Before that another Archos with no remote control (really long cables instead) and before that my laptop with a bulky MCE remote and an expensive bulky box to convert VGA to other output types. So you can image, seeing this product was like a dream come true.

As a Portable Hard Drive

The Micca excels as a normal portable hard drive. It plugs right in and uses USB for power, no power brick needed. I put in a 1TB hard drive and this fit fine. Be careful, as there are hard drives that are too thick. You need to make sure the hard drive is 9.5mm thick, no more.

As a Media Player

It will not play everything, but it plays most things. A bit annoying that it doesn't play mts (HD camcorder format), but if you have a laptop, you can just change the extension and then it plays (no need to convert format). It plays most mkvs and handles 1080p well, however you will run into some it won't play for whatever reason. My SageTV HD300s don't play all my MKVs either, so I expected this going in. There are some advanced sound codec support missing, but again, as expected. Subtitle support is great (PGS missing of course), but I wish I could control the size of the subtitles and I wish embedded subtitles were supported.

The interface is unattractive and plain. Its also a bit annoying, requiring more clicks that it should, but its functional. I'm not a big interface person, I just want to watch my media on the road, so not a big deal for me.

The Bad

The remote range is very short. I don't care which way you turn the unit, some of these other reviews are way off base on this issue or my unit is malfunctioning, because I've tuned it every which way and the range is short. I can prove its just weak IR because I use an IR adapter for my phone and control it that way and do not have any IR issues any more.

It gets hot. I carry a portable laptop cooler with me when I travel (for my laptop) and I stick this on top of it to keep it from overheating. I am not saying it will, but everyone knows heat is bad for electronics.

The biggest problem is Micca! This company is totally unresponsive. I emailed them before I bought the Micca, they did not reply. I emailed them after I bought it, no reply. I emailed them again, no reply. I emailed them again and warned them that I had not written my Amazon review yet, and then they replied! Sheesh!

I do not expect any firmware updates or improvements, as this company is totally unresponsive. You can buy this device from a huge well known Chinese internet vendor for 1/3 the price. You won't get any support when you buy it there, but then Micca doesn't give you any either.

A 4-star product ruined by a 1 star company. Such is the world. However, this device fills a dream product for me, so I couldn't take off any more stars. I wish I was happier about it though, why do good products have to be ruined by bad companies?

Want Micca Slim-HD 1080p Full-HD Portable Digital Media Player w/ 2.5-Inch HDD Drive Bay Discount?

I can't understand why the bigger brands are getting more raves and kudos, when a cheap, unknown chinese brand is able to pull all the strings effectively. I had trouble running certain mkv and flv files on both the Patriot Box Office AND the Western Digital Media thingi. This thing plays every damn file on the planet, I kid you not! Granted, the UI may not be too flashy, but it is adequate and easy to use. Very rarely, there may be a video/audio sync, no issue, just stop and start the file from beginning. Doesn't heat up, is very portable, I am using it as en external HDD enclosure too, and it's a brilliant utility when you need to show something to people on TV.

Plays .m2ts, MPEG4s, MKVs, DVDs, FLVs, WMAs, AVIs and every other video file extension I am yet to come across. You can believe the reviews for once, and if there was anything money can buy best, pick this up!! Don't loose the remote folks, or it's a gonner (no physcial buttons).

rooCASE Gateway EC1409u 11.6-Inch Netbook Carrying CaseI have been very happy with this case. Although it is not practical to bring many accessories in this case, it is perfect for bringing the bare essentials. If you have a compact laptop, there is plenty of room to include your power cable, a couple thumb drives, and a compact ethernet cable. If you are looking to bring a full size mouse/trackball, an external DVD drive, and a 1TB external hard disk, then this is not the case for you.

It's a great ultra-portable case for an ultra-portable laptop.
