All printer funtions can be accessed through the attached hand-held controller and the navigation is very easy to follow.
The print quality is very sharp and the colors come out correctly, with the exception of black. Since it uses the 3 colors on the color ribbon cartridge to make black, it is not a very "deep" and dark representation. Still, it is acceptable for most uses.
Recommended for those needing a fast, stand alone printer (it can be connected via USB, but I haven't used it that way). Ok, I always look at what the customers have to say about products before buying so her's my -turn about is fair play-.... I have had terrible luck with printers. My Cannon i950, stopped printing photo magenta after a four-month hiatus (due to a remodel).. Anyway, the 640 is strange looking little unit, even stranger operation 4 passes through a little mechanical contraption.... But the pictures are spectacular.. totally -send your pictures to Kodakquality.. My wife's beef is that i take tons of digital photos and none of them ever see the light of day no more i'm printing everything. Piccture cost is reasonable, about 40 cents a print.. paper, and dye-sheet cartridge very easy to load... No mor ink cartridges.. yea! Anyway, my only complaint is that the printer doesn't have a tray to catch completed prints in the batch mode, so they deop on the floor... but this isn't a show-stopper by any means. Three friends have bought one of these after seeing mine.. The software that comes with for managing printing is a little cumbersome, but workable... What I really like about the software is it gives you a montage of exposures and you pick what you like... no more messing with photoshot bells and whistles to optimize.... Anyway great printer, and great printer for the price....
