Mobility iGo ice90 AC Notebook Power Adapter for Standard Wall Outlets (PS0061-10)

Mobility iGo ice90 AC Notebook Power Adapter for Standard Wall OutletsIt works fine, but is much larger than other options...even other options from iGo.

I agonized for a while over which universal power adapter to buy for my two sony laptops. Some other brands did not support the power requirements of my Sonys, so i choose iGo. I settled on this model because i didnt want to pay more for auto/air (igo everywhere 7500) and this looked to be the best price for what i got.

pros-

good price for the functionality i wanted. Cheaper than the OEM replacement.

seems to have adapters for any laptop i may need to power.

available dualpower adapter to charge a phone or ipod at the same time (i didnt need this).

carrying case with cable ties keep things orderly when not in use.

cons-

its very heavy. it feels twice as heavy as the power bricks that came with my laptops (physically its about the same size as the larger of my two). right now this one stays home while the OEM brick travels with me.

the cables feel a bit more fragile than the OEM one. I dont expect this one to last as long, but for me its just a backup so that is fine.

there are so many tips, i often forget which is which (so i grabbed a sharpie and marked them up). there is no good way to keep them organized or separated in the carry case.

overall im pleased with it. im not sure why they made it blue, but it doesnt look obnoxious.

I bought the iGo Juice 70. Seems like a good idea with auto adaptor. However, the DELL adaptor does not charge the computer (it's "power only"). I can't think of reason why anyone would spend $100 on a mobile charger that doesn't charge the device. They don't make this clear through their website or their third party vendors. On top of it all their customer service wouldn't take the return and told me I should have known.

The charger with adaptors ends up being almost as bulky as all your chargers in the first place. They also didn't have 2 out of 3 adaptors I needed.

The other reviews are correct in that this is a heavy and large AC adapter. Another compliant if have, is that the power light on it is overly bright. I often leave my laptop plugged in over night. The blue LED in the charger is enough to bother me.

Another issue, while not an issue with the charger itself but of iGo, is that I am finding it harder and harder to find the S-style tips. This adapter needs that type for the different laptops. This is more of the issue that is charger is almost 10 years old.

I bought this adapter in 2004 when I forgot my AC adapter for my laptop on a buiness trip in NYC. I got reamed on the price at a Radio Shack in the city but I couldn't go with out it. The ICE 90 has been great for me ever since. I first used in on my now dead Compaq N600. I have used it on an number for Thinkpads.

This is a mid-ranged Laptop adapter since it only support 90 watts. If you have a mobile workstation, Dell XPS, or Alienware laptop, this AC adapter my not be powerful enough for you. You should look for AC adapter that support 125+ watts.

The ice90 by iGo is great for notebook computers that have a worn power connector slot. The iGo male end is slightly thicker than OEM and makes a better connection. The blue light is great for troubleshooting. It also has longer cords on both sides of the brick. It has been a champ for over a year now. Besides the larger size, I give this unit 2 thumbs up.
