SANOXY Unlocked 3G MiFi GSM Mobile Router Hotspot WiFi Wireless N Mobile Broadband Router with SIM

SANOXY Unlocked 3G MiFi GSM Mobile Router Hotspot WiFi Wireless N Mobile Broadband Router with SIM Card slot-WiFi Mobile Hotspot Router and Built-In 3G modem Rechargeable Lithium Battery- IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n WCDMA Travel Router/Wireless Mobile Hotspot Router compatible for T-Mobile and AT&T 3G Data SIM CardPretty disappointed in this. First of all, it seems like they sent me a defective unit that had already been returned by someone else. The router name originally showed up as "3G Router" but after I did a hard reset, the name spontaneously changed to "DANONE". I never did anything to rename it. It's as though some previous owner had already messed around with the configuration.

At any rate, I was never able to reach the Internet even though I could see the router in my list of available networks and could connect to it. I tried all the suggestions from the Sanoxy website FAQs but still was unable to resolve the problem using either SIM. Contacting the seller for technical support was futile. The contact phone number goes to an IVR menu and every option I selected sent me to a fax machine. My emails went unanswered. I can't say I'd recommend this, at least not for an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM. Maybe it works better for other carriers? Hope you have better luck than I did.

P.S. One other item of note: some of the dropdown menus in the configuration application do not work with IE9 also very frustrating. You'll have better luck with Firefox or Chrome.

UPDATE: I did end up returning this using Amazon's return authorization process. Once I was able to make contact with the seller (as a result of writing an unfavorable seller review), they were very good about refunding the purchase price. They also explained that the "DANONE" router name pertained to the name the units are sold under in China entirely plausible I guess. I'm still debating whether to take a chance on a replacement though. However the vendor has volunteered to test the unit before sending it out again. I've updated my overall rating based on the seller's good faith efforts to resolve the situation. I'll update this again if I end up reordering.

This was the worst experience I've had with a product bought on amazon.

At the beginning, the wi-fi settings go back to default. Now the product even connected via LAN, does not enable DHCP.

This is the second review. In the first the router had a terrible performance. Nothing worked ok.

Now the difference is signal. With better signal: no errrors, better stability (no wifi disconnects).

I will wait a day or two to give my final word.

For now 3 stars: Works.

BoxWave Capacitive Panasonic ELUGA Stylus (Lunar Blue)

BoxWave Capacitive Panasonic ELUGA StylusI rated this case as I did only because it does not allow easy access to the on button only but other than that rating the case is a satisfactory purchase, it looks and feels like real leather and is well made, it has a slight leathery smell to it which is dissipating since I received it, I would highly recommend this product for protecting your Sansa e260 player and for the price you can't beat it for protecting your player it also has a great feature for protecting your players screen which is a very nice feature that no other cases have on those you have to purchase screen protectors separately which would make your player accessories more expensive so this was very nice to have on this case, I am happy with my purchase

Slim-Fit Dual Layer Red Leather Case with Smart Cover Function Stylus Holder for iPad 2, iPad 3, and iPad 4 + Screen ProtectorThis item caught my eye considering I did not want to spend a fortune on a case since I already dropped it all on my iPad . I took a chance and I will say I am very happy! The case is slim and fits my new iPad ( current generation) like a glove. The cut outs are all aligned in the appropriate spots and quality isn't bad for the price. It is synthetic leather and the lining is suede like material.

The screen protector was a nice bonus. That saved me a couple bucks!

Overall nice and inexpensive product!

Sling Media Slingbox Classic

Sling Media Slingbox ClassicWell, I've only been using it for about 2 days now and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised and 99% satisfied! (1% is lost on the fact that only one computer can use it at a time.)

The quality is top-notch! I thought it might be pixelated, jerky, or buggy but it isn't. It flows and runs like a regular TV. It just feels like you're watching TV.

Let me also mention all of the features that it has:

* You can watch TV with a full screen and either have the remote on the screen, or not.

* You can hit a button and it will automatically dock to one side of the screen and re-adjust the size of your other windows. And then, you can even fine tune and adjust the size of that window.

* If you just want it to be on your screen and not be docked, you can do that and adjust that screen size as well.

* You can also create a list of favorite channel icons, so all you do is click onto your favorite channel's icon. If the icon doesn't exist you can create your own!

* It also works with channels like HBO On Demand and with TiVo as well (however, I don't have TiVo).

* If your workplace has a firewall, you can access your home computer using your home computer's IP Address.

This product is HIGHLY recommended!

I was amazed. On my home network, streamed very high quality (though small picture, since the TV signal is actually less than 640x480), and when I went wireless, the quality dropped (as expected), but it kept up with audio, didn't break up. Really amazingly well designed wizard to configure.

Ground-breaking technology. This device allows me to watch my Chicago cable TV service while in Paris. It converts the TV signal into an internet transmission. The image is only about 4 x 3 inches in size on my higher density 1680 by 1050 notebook screen but looks very clean and highly viewable. Sound quality is excellent. Transfer rates ranges from 400 to 700 kbps.

Another feature of this product is that it can be used as an internet based remote control. I have one in my mother's senior home apartment. It enables me to view her apartment, view her electronics, and send remote control signals to her electronics whenever she gets stumped. I'm sure there are many other ways to apply this unique technology.

SlingMedia is an exceptional company. The initial release of this product brought rave reviews -uncommon for release 1.0. They did not rest. Since then, they have released new versions which further enhanced the SlingBox.

I'm impressed with the concept, the technology, the product, the execution, the installation, the enhancements, the updatability, the reliability, the quality of the support, the people from top to bottom. The staff members are very active on avsforum.com. Great attitudes.

While Tivo enabled me to watch TV when I wanted, this product allows me to watch TV where it was otherwise impossible.

This may be the best consumer electronic product of 2005.

I want to follow up on my first post about the SlingBox. After my review I was contacted by Blake the CEO of Slingmedia asking me if he could have his support Manager give me a call to discuss my problems. After explaning my story to Larry Lane he asked me if I would give the box another chance. He told me that if I ran into more problems that the box can be sent back no questions asked. I decided that since the CEO of the company can reach out to me as a customer that Slingmedia was concerned how they treated their customers! (How many CEO's reach out to the average customer??).

Larry worked with me personally in setting up my new unit to make sure things went right. After the initial set up I still had a few viewing issues. Larry and his team worked with me on the issues only to find out these issues were due to my router. To make a long story short I replaced my linksys router with a Netgear 624A. My entire network seems to be working much better and the slingbox is GREAT!!!!

I cant say enough how wonderful Blake/Larry and their team was! Without the email from Blake I can honestly say that I would not have a slingbox today or in the future. The people running the company are terrific and have completely changed the way I look at their product! I strongly recommend the product to anyone! The technology is amazing! I cant wait to the summer to sit outside on my deck, get some sun and watch the NY Mets play some baseball!!

Thank you Blake and Larry!! You and your team are great!

My friend explained Slingbox to me, and at first I just didn't get it. Then one day it hit me: I could be in a hotel room, get on my laptop, control my Tivo or cable box via remote repeaters, and watch the streaming video sent from my house. That was when I realized that the way I watched TV was about to change again (since I got my Tivo) and I couldn't wait.

I got a Slingbox as quickly as I could and have absolutely loved it. With the help of the great Dell Inspiron 700m laptop, I've watched and controlled my home TV in the airport, hotels, coffee shops, in my bed, at work, and even had a friend's wife catch up on her O.C. in Singapore! I've docked the SlingPlayer viewer while working on my desktop at home. After watching from work a couple of times, my boss bought one and streams the news all day he's hooked.

The Slingbox looks great, is exceptionally easy to set up, and the software works very well. I'm really impressed with the picture and the dynamic streaming based on bandwidth. Make sure you've planned how you're going to add it to your networkI used the netgear Power over Ethernet bridge to connect to my network from the living room, and I'd recommend it if your TV is far from your network (easy setup, high bandwidth, and no extra radio waves going through your body).

As a Slingbox owner, I highly recommend this product, especially if you've been thinking about getting a TV tuner or Video card with tuner supportthis is a more flexible alternative, and SlingPlayer viewer software can be installed on multiple systems.

P.S. Desperate Housewives was only used for the purpose of alliteration. It is not an admission that I watch it. I did actually watch T.V., although not South Park, from Switzerland, and it worked flawlessly!

Acer Aspire V5-571-6869 15.6-Inch HD Display Laptop (Black)

Acer Aspire V5-571-6869 15.6-Inch HD Display LaptopFor the price, this is a very wonderful laptop. It packs a 3rd generation core i5 processor and the speed is great.

PROS

1. Cheap and really affordable considering what it is packed with.

2. Very light and easy to carry around.

3. Really fast to set up and boot

4. Does not heat up even when I run high end 3D programs like solidworks. good cooling system.

5. Good battery life of up to 5 hours under power saver mode.

CONS

1. It has a really cheap feel and the keyboard keys are a bit smaller than the usual keyboard keys especially the enter key.

2. It froze on the second day of usage and I had to do a hard reset.

3. All the USB ports are on one side of the laptop and really close to each other. So if you have an usual sized flash drive, you could only use two ports because there might be no space for the third.

Well, If you are looking for a nice laptop for good performance but not will to spend too much, This is it!

I'm not quite sure why there are two reviews giving a one-star and three-star review for minor issues. This laptop, at $560, is very nice. Others brands have laptops with these specs for over $700 easy. It's lightweight, quiet, and quick. Granted, there are some design flaws: USB ports mashed together on the left hand side, keyboard slightly smaller than usual with sometimes sticky keys, touchpad without mouse buttons (would have liked mouse buttons). However, the functionality of the computer is great it's quick, it's cool (doesn't heat up to 100+ degrees like some I've used), it's chic (simple design, but nice), lightweight, and the sound isn't too bad either. You're not gonna want this computer if you want to do hardcore gaming on it, but it's wonderful for students and general use. The keyboard comes with a full number pad on the right, which deviates the keyboard slightly to the left. I wish they would have left the number pad off and just made the standard keyboard bigger, but these are minor problems. Compared to other computers I've spent over $900 on, it's good. I wouldn't say it feels cheap, like others have mentioned. I like it so far. If anything goes wrong, I will definitely report back here.

This is an excellent laptop for those on a $500-$600 budget. It features a brand new 3rd generation "Ivy Bridge" Intel Core i5 processor. Nothing slow about it. In general, the laptop looks and feels like a more expensive piece of hardware. Very thin, sleek look. Light as a feather. Because of the relatively thin bezel encasing the display, it sort of feels bigger than it actually is. Keyboard is very nice and sturdy, easy to get used to for fast typing. Trackpad looks and feels like a Macbook. All in all, it is one hell of a nice laptop. This can be purchased at Office Depot in store if you're interested in checking it out before you buy it. Worth every penny.

VERY THIN (almost to a level of Ultrabook (but not really as it does not have the SSD Drive and the high endd Materials they use like aluminium)and LIGHT Laptop. I was so surprised of the thinness of this product and the specs that it has given (3rd gen 1.7 ghz i5) at a very competative price (got it for $499).

PROS:

-Very Thin for a 15.6 inch Laptop.

-Has 3rd Gen i5 Intel Chip.

-Surprisingly small power block/lightweight cord.

-Screen has Great Colors (Not saturated like others).

-Minimalistic Style (You have an option to change its appearance easily).

-Heat and Noise transfer to hand are so Minimal (you just can't put a gel cover over the keyboard as they design the airflow to go thru the "Keyboard's outlines" passing thru the left side where the fan outputs the airflow).

-LIGHTWEIGHT compared to other 15.6 inch Laptops (Because the Structure/body is made of Hard Plastic.. which... also made the price of this item affordable).

-HD Webcam is cool.

-Suprisingly light and small Power Block to charge the Laptop.

CONS:

-Laptop Body is Made of Hard Plastic which makes the Hardware looks and feels cheaply (which made the price of this item lower).

-TrackPad was good but not Great.

-Dongle for Ethernet/VGA Monitor Port (which I understand to make the design slimmer).

-A bit slower albeit it has a 6gb of RAM in a i5 Chipset 1.7 ghx turbo boost to 2.6 (which I easily fix by putting 2 X 8gb which equals to 16gb total making it more Responsive)

-a LOT OF BLOATWARE (some useful; some not).

-Keyboard is crampy so you may sometimes accidentally hit the TrackPad (but with a little practice; its duable).

-Sound coming from the speakers feels too much Treble (but it is louder than my VAIO E and the Dolby Surround Works which is tweakable by the way).

I GAVE IT A 5 STAR BECAUSE..

-The Price (which some of the suspected Cons outweighs the Pros of this Laptop).

-The thinness and lightweight.

-It serves the purpose of why a purchase this item which is an affordable; on the go, lightweight computer without me worrying about the value of this item if ever it gets stolen (Not using this for any financial transactions which I use my home computer to do that. Only for Web Surfing/ some emails and some Picture editing).

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR people who would want an affordable, thin lightweight 2nd Laptop on the go with the Internal Performance of a highly Spec. Computer. I haven't stop playing/using this eversince I got it so the fun factor is great.

PLUS...A couple of people who saw me with this THOUGHT I WAS USING AN ULTRABOOK which is a great compliment (and I never corrected them...just for the fun of it)!!!

Want Acer Aspire V5-571-6869 15.6-Inch HD Display Laptop (Black) Discount?

I saw this at the store and thought it looked great. I checked the specs and everything. But what I didn't do was test the keyboard. The keyboard on this is horrible. I would say 25% of the keys I strike do not register. You have to strike extremely hard for the keys to register. I lose a lot of time with my work having to go back and correct my papers for keys that didn't register. This was a waste of $700 for me.

Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset (.Audio 628)

Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB HeadsetCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program I use this headset for dictating with Dragon Naturally Speaking, and I am totally satisfied. It is comfortable to wear for long periods, and the accuracy is excellent. Highly recommended.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As economic headsets go, this one is defiantely a leader of the pack. Yes, there are nicer sounding and more comfortable ones out there, but not for anywhere near what these cost.

I use these for listening to music and watching TV shows on my computer. My kids use the heck out of them talking to their cousins via Skype.

The sound quality is good, better than I thought it would be actually. While they are not as good as some of the high end 'monitor' type headphones, these are likely better than what you are using now. The phone functions of the headset works easily and installation is almost thoughtless.

I have a big head (7 3/4 hat size), and these are comfortable on me. Not sure Id want to wear them all day, but I had no problem watching 2 hour movie with them on.

Overall, I can easily recomend these to anyone in the market for this type of product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is my first USB Headset and I like being able to listen to music through the USB drive although since just about every computer has a headphone jack it's not a completely necessary product for me. The sound seems fine although I'm not really an audiophile so I may be easily pleased. It's in the general design where things fall apart. I have three headphones at my desk; a cheap pair of Radio Shack headphones that wrap around the back of my head, a pair of Plantronics that my job gave me for phone calls and my new pair of Plantronics that I'm reviewing. This is a classic case of, 'what were they thinking???'. My Radio Shack headphones are very comfortable and unobtrusive sitting on my head. My old Plantronics wrap over the top of my head but they're rounded so the pressure of the headphones is diffused. The NEW Plantronics, by contrast, have a flat top so all the pressure sits on one small spot on the crown of my head. You would be surprised at how much pressure a lightweight pair of headphones can apply. The stupidity of this design decision is just beyond me. As I wear the headpiece I can't help but focus on that one small pressure point like a hard finger applying just a little bit of force down on my head. I could go into the other nice aspects of the headset but I can't possibly recommend them just because they are so bloody irritating to wear. I actually felt myself getting a mild headache even after I took them off. Bad bad bad decision.

Want Plantronics .Audio 628 Stereo USB Headset (.Audio 628) Discount?

Best headset I have purchased in a very long time. For some reason these things are not made to last apparently, because I have gone through at least a dozen of headset/mic combo's within the last 2 years. So far the Plantronics headset sound quality is BY FAR SUPERIOR to any other brand. They even have the necessary bass. Cover over the ear area is really comfortable, as well as the adjustable head area, sits very comfortably on anyone. I am very pleased with this model. :D Was also the owner of the 626 model that was discontinued, also another very good one. 5 stars from me.

HQRP Replacement Battery for GA1Y41551 Palmone Tungsten PDA + Screwdriver + HQRP PDA Screen Protectorhappy to have the PDA working like it used to and yeah it is old school but me it is just fine

The replacement battery arrived as expected, and you definitely need the special screwdriver that comes with it to open the pda case. (I tried a similar small screwdriver I had on hand, but it definitely did not work, whereas the one that comes along with it works like a dream!) I watched a video I found online on how to do the replacementit was well worth watching. However, my advice make sure you do not crimp the battery connection wire when you put the case back together. On my 1st try, I did, and the pda doesn't run as smoothly as it should (it gets small hiccups in power). I assume this is happening because I slightly crimped the wire and not because it is a poor battery, but I won't know without buying a whole new battery. If you still like using your old PDA, the new battery is worth it.

Acer Aspire V3-571G-9683 15.6-Inch Laptop (Midnight Black)

Acer Aspire V3-571G-9683 15.6-Inch LaptopThis is the perfect laptop for anyone looking for a gaming laptop for under $1000. All the games I've tried on it have run perfectly, the most difficult probably being Skyrim, which ran perfectly on ultra settings. The laptop is very aesthetically appealing in my opinion (although some reviews for Acer Aspire V3 computer's said it was not attractive, I completely disagree). The main upside is gaming, but it also has a great keyboard which is very important to me as a college student, the screen is great, which is awesome for me because of netflix. The biggest issue I have with the design of the laptop is with the location of the track pad, and the buttons on the track pad. I was just playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (which works perfectly), and my left hand would occasionally tap the track pad, causing my gun to fire at random. The buttons at the bottom of the track pad are frustratingly bad, but since I use a mouse that is not a big deal; the track pad is touch sensitive, and you can scroll up and down on the side of the track pad which is a nice feature.

Of course, the biggest issue most people have with newer Acers is with Windows 8; at first I found windows 8 incredibly frustrating, but within a couple days I got used to it. The only major difference is that instead of a start button where a sidebar pops up (like windows 7), you open up a start screen which has a tablet-esque feel to it. The start screen is slightly worse in my opinion, but not enough so that I feel the need to switch to windows 7. One thing that I don't care about, but others may love, is that there is a full numbers pad on the side of the keyboard, which would be great for programming or accounting or something like that. I have yet to use it, but others may love it.

The worst thing about this computer is its poor battery life, with full brightness you might get 2-3 hours, whereas my old hp pavillion dm4 got about double that. This doesn't bother me excessively because I almost always have a computer cord handy, but if you plan on taking this on the go don't count on a great battery. Of course an easy fix is to buy another battery (preferably with a lot more mAh) for about $50.

Pros: Great Graphics card, great processor, good GPU and enough GB hard drive make this a great gaming computer; screen resolution; nice keyboard; the ports (headphones, usb etc.) are tighter than usual which means your headphones won't fall out easily;

Average: speakers; screen size; Windows 8; start up time; internet connection;

Cons: Poor battery and heavier-than-average weight make this computer not particularly portable; Track pad location is bad (when you first get it the track pad will seem kind of sticky which will be annoying but this goes away quickly); comes with too much junk previously installed (for example who wants an ebay app installed on their computer?);

Note: Windows 8 will not let you do certain things because the original account you create will be called administrator but will not have full access to everything to prevent you from screwing things up. There is a simple fix to this, go to command prompt and type some stuff in you can find online and you will be able to log into the real administrator account.

Also, I definitely recommend a mouse (I think Logitech is the best) because the buttons on the track pad and the location of the track pad are abysmal.

Edit: Extremely fast start up speed, under 10 seconds.

Edit: As the comment below says, if you hit fn+f7 it will shut off the trackpad so you don't accidentally click it while playing a game.

I've just recently bought this laptop and it exceeds expectations! I bought this computer for playing games and watching movies on netflix. This computer can not only play games on high/ultra graphics but also has a great display. Watching movies on it is great. The problem I have with this laptop is the short battery life. I get around 3 hours when gaming on high settings but I usually keep it plugged in so not a big problem. Another con with it is the placement of the track pad. I end up occasionally tapping the track pad when playing games causing something I don't want to happen. To fix this I bought a USB mouse. This laptop has been great for what I need it for and hopefully you'll love it two.

Save for the one or two special keys that were mixed up on the keyboard (easily overlooked as they are few and far between) and my unfortunate first time encounter with the confounded mass of unnecessary options that is Windows 8 (Remedy: Only use the desktop and you're golden), the laptop performs above my expectations and at a fair price. I could also nitpick at some discomforts like where volume control and brightness adjustment were placed, but its hardly an issue and more a personal preference. This product is powerful, thumbs up!

This stylus is lightweight and seems to work on "drawing" type apps on TouchPad. However, I was disappointed to find that it does not work with any of the TouchPad's native apps, including notes. I was picturing myself writing lots of handwritten notes in meetings, and being able to give up a paper notebook. Alas...this is not the case. It would be better if the product description specified that. I am testing a few 3rd-party apps from the App Catalog, but this product would be much improved if the manufacturer provided an app as well.

Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter - Version 4.0 (Newest Bluetooth Version Available) Class 2 Smart Re

Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter - Version 4.0 Class 2 Smart Ready Adapter w/ Low Energy Technology - Windows 8 32/64 CompatibleI had an issue on Windows 7 with Control Panel/Devices not loading, and not finding any bluetooth devices. But I found a fix.

I'm an advanced computer user who does a lot of work with computers, so I know how to get around a computer and get it to do what I want.

This device comes in a small box, which is actually quite decent looking for a device this small (I didn't really expect a box even). My previous adapter was a generic one that was super cheap, but it worked. Unfortunately, BlueSoleil (software controls for bluetooth) only got me so far with it and it did not work with my new bluetooth headphones (Nokia BH-905i), so I bought this.

The instructions are easy to follow, and the BEST part about them is that they are in grammatically correct English! That's a novelty these days. The adapter does fit really snugly into your port, so make a good decision as you probably won't get this out without a good yank. It has a blue glow that blinks when in use (slowly), so make sure it's out of sight if you work in low light.

It comes with 2 mini CD's with drivers for 7/Vista and XP. It uses the WIDCOMM stack, and took about 15 minutes to install (which is unusually long).

If your control panel/devices and printers is locking up (Windows Vista/7), here is a solution that seems to work for most people:

I am not sure if it was due to using BlueSoleil (I had a generic adapter that died after like 4 years of use; BlueSoleil is a different 'bluetooth stack') in the past, but I don't really want to go back and check. The issue is that when you do get all the drivers installed, when you go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound, it totally locks up and shows nothing (Looks like its loading, but never finishes). You also can't add any devices. This is because the "Bluetooth Support Service" is disabled. I don't know why it is disabled. To enable it (and add devices/view any devices (wired/wireless)), go to start, type in 'services.msc' and open the result of the same name. Find "Bluetooth Support Service". Right click it, go to properties, and set the startup type to "Automatic", and click Apply/OK. Then right click the item again and click "Start". Now your menus should load.

I like it, and once I have bluetooth 3.0 devices, I'll like it even more.

Cheers!

First, let me tell you that I am a very senior citizen, no techie for sure. This is my first experience with Bluetooth technology, and it couldn't be a more satisfying one. Installing my Medialink USB Adapter could not have been easier. I'm using Windows 7 operating system. I simply followed the directions provided with my purchase. I inserted the the mini-disc and was imediately instructed to insert the USB Adapter into the USB port. Presto! Bluetooth was up and running. I then went to the Hardware and Sound Section in my control panel and set the sound default to Bluetooth. I can now get up and move about with out missing a word. The sound quality is terrific, and I am extremely hearing impaired. I love this product. You will too.

This little Bluetooth dongle was so easy to install and use. No issues at all. I have my mouse, headphones and Droid all linked to it now. I've been considering buying a second one for our desktop computer so my husband can use the headphones for gaming. Lack of Bluetooth connectivity was one thing that disappointed me about my new laptop, but this little chip solved that problem for very little money. Don't waste your money on a cheap one that may or may not work, just spend a little more and get this one.

In a few months, most distros should have the patch to the Linux kernel driver that makes this a friendly, no-hassle plug-and-play experience. That's when I'd give this product a full 5 stars.

Else, if needed, just create a file /etc/modprobe.d/medialink-btusb.conf and put this one line in it:

install usb:v0A5Cp21E8d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* /sbin/modprobe btusb; echo 0a5c 21e8 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id

Detailed explanation: This device is handled just fine by the stock btusb kernel module. The issue is that the driver does not recognize the exact USB vendor/product ID. However, the driver was fixed just a few weeks ago. It'll just take a little time for your favorite Linux distro update to pick up the fix.

This works fine in Linux but only if you add an extra file that will allow the device to be recognized as a Bluetooth adapter. Eventually the various Linux distros will get updated with this, but that probably won't happen until at least the next big release. After making that change, everything works exactly as expected in Linux. It's smaller than the Bluetooth dongle that this one replaced. As soon as the distros are updated, you won't have to do any driver installs or setup to get this going, just like most other Bluetooth dongles (yay Linux).

Instructions can be found by searching for Ubuntu 11897463 with your favorite search engine. Or you can search for the hardware ID of 0a5c:21e8. Below are those instructions as well.

Create /etc/modprobe.d/medialink-btusb.conf and populate it with the next line, and then reboot:

install usb:v0A5Cp21E8d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* /sbin/modprobe btusb; echo 0a5c 21e8 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id

Without that instruction, this device is completely useless in Linux as it doesn't register as a Bluetooth device in any way whatsoever.

rooCASE Slim-Fit (Black) Folio Case Cover with Multi Adjustable Viewing Angles for Asus Transformer

rooCASE Slim-Fit Folio Case Cover with Multi Adjustable Viewing Angles for Asus Transformer Pad TF300T 10.1-Inch TabletThis case seems well made and like it would do a good job, however IT IS NO LONGER DESIGNED FOR THE TF300. I ordered this case along with screens protectors from this company and received them in a timely manner. However, both the case and screen protectors were clearly labeled "TF700". I emailed customer service and they responded the next business day but they didn't understand what the problem was. After another email to them clarifying that I needed the correct screen protectors AND case sent to me, I was told that:

"The case you've recieved [sic] for the TF700 is in fact the correct case we currently offer for the TF300. Unfortunately, we no longer carry a case specifically for the TF300. The case we offer is compatiable [sic] for both the TF300 and TF700, and will provide the same protection to either case.

As anyone who has compared the TF300 to the TF700 will know, these tablets do NOT have the same dimensions. The 300 is both wider and thicker than the 700. When I replied to "Roxy" and relayed this information I also asked to be contacted by someone else in management of the company in order to get clarification on why this case was being advertised for the wrong device. The reply was that they are happy to give me my money back once I return it and I was never contacted by anyone else.

Just so you know, I tried fitting my TF300 into the case as they claim it will. It doesn't. It can be forced into the side and corner clips, but only with a lot of force. The cover will NOT close flat, and the clasp, if forced to snap shut as it is designed, actually caused enough stress on the plastic body of the tablet to separate it from the screen around the edge!

So if you have a TF700, this might work fine for you, but if you are looking for a TF300 case this isn't it.

You can force an tf300t in the case, kinda defeats the purpose though. I bough this because it said it was for the tf300t if you get it in it looks ok and protects it well.

Looks soooo much nicer than the stupid kind everyone has with elastic straps on the corners. This one snaps perfectly in place, holding the tablet snugly. The fit an finish are very premium. Much more than the generic Chinese cases I've tried. It's worth the couple bucks extra just for the fit and finish. The tabs that hold it in place leave the entire face exposed instead of hiding the bezel like most leather cases. It's nice and lush feeling with a thick, firm, yet yeilding cover that feels great in the hand. The only downside is that it doubles the weight of the tablet, but it's totally worth it.

Well designed, but very, very tight fit on my ASUS 300T...strange, STRONG smell of some type of glue was annoying. IT was hard to close the cover by forcing the snap over the edge of the tablet. So much so that I thought it might damage it. After a while it became easier to close. At first you may have to push the edge of the cover from the opposite edge toward the snap to make it go over the tablet edge. Functions as advertised, but the 2 "odd" points reduced what would have been a 5 star rating.

The case I received had part number RC-TF700T-SF-BK. The case is for a TF700T. It kinda fits the tablet but not great.

As a case, it's really nice. Unfortunately it's the wrong one for my needs.

This was one of the most speediest company that I have ever dealt with.

True their word. I was told that as soon as I get my return package into the UPS Store and get a tracking number then I would receive a reimbursement as a Gift coupon with Amazon via email.

My hubby went to the UPS Store for me, then called once he had the

tracking number. With-in minutes I received an email with my Gift coupon

ready to use on Amazon.

The young ladies that called to see if I received the print-out packing slip were very courteous.

All I can say is GOOD THINGS about this company.

Thank you so very much. :))

I don't often get protection, but I'm glad I did. My portable DVD player suddenly stopped working. I called the number on the plan, was emailed a UPS label, and as soon as UPS picked it up and had it in their system, was given full credit for original price; no hassle ,no questions, within 3 days I had a new player.

I was amazed to receive an Amazon gift card for my printer, which was still under the 2 year replacement parts warranty from Amazon. It was a blessing and I am grateful for this opportunity. Thank you Amazon!

HTC Evo 4G Black Rubber Hard Case Cover+LCD Screen Protector

HTC Evo 4G Black Rubber Hard Case Cover+LCD Screen ProtectorOver all the product was a great buy for the price. The slim back case fits the phone accurately and snuggly and really was a bonus since all i was looking for was the screen protector for less than $20-30! like most stores try and sell it for. So i was giddy when it arrived very fast and what i had gotten for less than $10 including shipping! But my giddiness was quickly subdued when i realized the screen protector was less than top quality. I had always had a screen protector for my iPhone and i think i'd bought it from the apple store. I never knew there were different levels of screen protector quality BUT THERE ARE!!! This thing was all scratched up within the first week and my new phone already looks like its a junky older well-used phone. I guess you really "do get what you pay for". I'm still happy with the case but i'm looking for a better quality screen protector.

Hitachi DS18DSAL 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver

Hitachi DS18DSAL 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver.

Update: 4/3/2013 I have been using this drill now for about 3 1/2 years (granted not every day) and on many demanding and lengthy projects such as refurbishing 2 old houses, two large decks, 1/4 mile of lattice fencing, etc., etc..... Still going strong and the batteries still hold a decent charge.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My rating of five stars is actually a solid four stars in order to help make up for the undeserved two-star rating, which one reviewer gave.

I did a lot of research before buying this drill. It is well balanced, easy to control, and will drive just about any screw into anything and do it for a long, long time on each battery. It is a powerhouse with more torque (460 lbs.) for the buck than any other drill in its class. I have found that, for me, two 1.5 amp-hour batteries are better than one 3.0 amp-hour battery (which is available) in that the smaller battery is much lighter; and if you are working with the drill all day long, you will appreciate not having to carry around the extra weight. The 1.5 ah battery charges in less than half an hour (not in 15 minutes as claimed), so you are always ready to go.

However, there are a few minor cons: 1) No drill bit holder (You can install one yourself...I prefer a magnet.) 2) The kit comes with a useless flashlight, not even l.e.d. It would have been better to have added a few doo-dads to the drill, such as a level, instead of wasting the money on a flashlight. 3) No battery meter. 4) Comes with a belt holder, which is very sturdy; but I wouldn't trust what one might hang it on to...and then there is always the possibility of drilling a hole in your leg. I removed it. 5) The case for the kit measures 16" x 18" x 4" and would do justice as designer luggage or as an overnight airline carry-on ...another waste; and when was the last time you lugged around (or even kept) your work drill in its case? However, it is recyclable. 6) The charging light on the bare-bones charger is recessed in the top of the charger and can only be viewed by looking down on it. The charger also has a rather cryptic light readout.

With all these complaints, I wouldn't trade it for any of the other 9 drills (for under $200) I tried out. Why? It outperformed every one of them.

For the past two weeks, we have been reconstructing a small country house. I included the Hitachi and a good corded drill (just in case)in my tool kit. So far, I have yet to plug in the corded drill.

This tool is my first foray into the world of Hitachi. What attracted me most is the feel of the grip and the way the tool doesn't cant forward or backward very much when using it. It's well-balanced, and the motor housing is short which is helpful in tight spaces. The design is different from most other drills. The battery doesn't project into the handle, but instead, slides in like a sled. I do like the "press and drop" battery design of other tools, but this "press and slide" design is easy to get used to. The clutch settings do seem a bit lighter than other drills, but on the other hand, the lighter settings on the drill are very nice for doing delicate work like setting #6 pan head screws to 1/8-inch oak plywood without imbedding the pan into the plywood. I haven't tried driving #10 screws into oak without a pilot hole. Personally, I like to drill a pilot in hardwoods so I don't risk breaking the head off of the screw. A #10 of any length will go in hardwood just fine with a pilot hole drilled first.

Positives: light weight, small for tight spaces, ergonomic, lithium ion batteries, ease of drill bit lock-up in the chuck, LED work light, and a very nice carrying case.

Minus(?). My only concern is to echo a previous review...I had no idea when I bought the tool that it is the only one Hitachi makes at this time with this battery design. It is new. Though lithium ion batteries last a long time and they have no charge "memory," at some point (1,000 charge cycles or so) they need to be replaced. It would be more comforting if the battery was universal to the product line.

One more thing...why the flashlight? The carrying case could be made smaller without it.

Buy Hitachi DS18DSAL 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver Now

Had to buy a new drill in the middle of putting up 5 tiers, 4 sections, warehouse wood shelving. The Dewalt 14.4v, which I liked, went up in smokes after 5 yrs. Bought this Hitachi without any research, and was not disappoint. This drill is very compact and light, lighter than my 12v Dewalt. The battery came out of the box already charged, ready to go, which I appreciated cause I didn't have time to wait for initial charge-up. Each 1.5A lit-ion battery lasted about the same as a Ni-Cad, but much lighter and slimmer. Recharged takes 15-20 minutes. At 460in-lb, it easily drives 2 1/4 screws and sometimes 3in ones I was using, and 2 1/2 masonry screws pre-drilled. Was initially very skeptical of the belt hook but turned out to be a very convenient feature and didn't drop the drill through a lot of movement up and down the ladder. The led light gives a good added feature to work under low lighting conditions like under the shelves.

The extra flashlight is something I don't plan to use and seems a useless extra that could be taken out of the package to save buyers money. The case is ridiculously big. I had to put out a little more money for a bag to carry the drill and charger.

The green color and the stupid design on the drill make the drill look like a toy, but the performance is far from being one. I highly recommend this drill for extensive use. It lessen the wrist fatigue with its light weight and gives you very good driving power.

I have owned this drill for over one year and am very pleased with its compact size and torque. I have drilled 3/4" holes through some tough 2" X 10" joists and loved the torque. My problem is with the batteries, I have had one fail in less then 5 months. If you have read other reviews on other sites you would see that this is a common problem. Because of the batteries I had to give the package only three stars and at that I thought I had been quite generous.

Want Hitachi DS18DSAL 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver Discount?

I bought this for woodworking. It is replacing a Milwaukee of similar size and specs. My Milwaukee batteries only lasted two years, but this is apparently average for Litium Ion. And, as everyone also knows, you can by the whole kit for a little more than two batteries cost. I will probably buy two more batteries for the Milwaukee later so I can have two drills. Hey, a man cannot have too many tools!

This Hitachi is similar to the Milwaukee. Only time will tell about build quality. I've learned through the years that a little flex here or there in a tool does not necessarily mean it won't last. This drill has a little more flex than the Makita or Milwaukee, but it still seems well-made. What I like about this drill (as with the Milwaukee and similar Makita) is the compact size. I am a woodworker and often must put screws in tight places (cabinets). This drill/driver has great power to weight/size ratio. I checked out all the brands and this one is the shortest 18V from front to back and top to bottom. Another important feature for a a serious woodworker is a smoothly funstioning ratchet. This one is consistent and smooth. The chuck also works very well.

I totally agree with what others said about the light and case. Skip the light, make the case smaller and put a bit holder on the drill.

About the charger: I've had several different brands of drills and never really needed all the fancy indicators. A light for charging and one for charged is all I need. It would be nice, as one reviewer stated, if the light was on the front so you could tell at a distance when it's charged. On my Milwaukee, I thought I would use the battery level indicator, but I never actually used it. In the real world, you use the battery until it dies and then swap out. One time I press the cute little indicator button and said to myself, "Oh, cute, the battery's half dead." Then I just went on using it. I suppose it would be nice to tell which of the batteries was charged when they are taken out of the case, but I don't use my drill like that.

People who do serious drilling shouldn't buy a small drill then complain about how it underperforms. That's why they make bigger models. It cracks me up when reviewers talk about drilling a bajillion holes in concrete and yet they bought a compact drill!

This drill works great for what it is designed: Woodworking and small to medium size projects. And, there is enough torque to do the occasional heavy drilling. I think there's plenty of power to build a deck with this as long as you have a corded hammer drill for any super heavy work.
