PalmOne IIIe Handheld

PalmOne IIIe HandheldUnlike people who were "already happy" with their bulky organizers before purchasing this product, I had been wanting a Palm for quite some time. Therefore, the expectation bar was raised.

Now that I have the product, the bar was met! Some questions you may have about Palms:

1. How do I enter data? One of three easy ways: with a small pen which you use to write directly into the Palm Pilot; with a pop-up keyboard; or you can enter information on your computer and download it onto your Palm Pilot.

2. Is it hard to learn? The thing I found most amazing about this is how easy you can learn it. Usually something as robust as this product has a high-learning curve. However, that is not the case here.

3. Can you play games on it? Hey admit it, we all thought it was pretty cool when we found out we can play games on it. I have about 12 games on mine (and it takes up hardly any space at all). Now all those boring lines at the bank, airports, and sitting in doctor office waiting rooms are but a memory. ;-)

4.This one is cheaper than the others, should I buy an expensive one? That is up to you. I personally don't need to store 1,500 appointments, 6000 phone numbers, etc. I'm just a guy who likes to have things organized. This product does that and lots more. I think that one of the top-dollar ones would be overkill (at least for me it would).

5. What's the coolest thing about the product? I personally like the fact that there are literally hundreds of thousands of *FREE* programs that you can download onto the Palm Pilot.

If you are the type of person who likes to control his or her scene, I strongly urge you to purchase this product.

Although this unit lacks the spacious memory capacity of most of its siblings, the Palm IIIe packs in most of their features and is an excellent entry level device to experience the convenience and fun of PDAs.

The sturdy unit easily slips into a pocket. The screen is sharp, and the adjustable contrast and backlighting options make it readable in most light levels, although it can be tough to achieve a balance in low light conditions. Two AAA batteries power it for a surprising amount of time (but extensive use of the backlight feature drains them fairly rapidly). File management through the palm OS is easily configurable, and the unit is very responsive. The Graffiti writing system can be learned quickly, and the on screen keyboard and number pad are readily accessible for those tricky characters.

I wasn't organized prior to receiving this device as a gift, and I must admit that I'm still not. The included address book is very usable, and the ability to beam "business cards" to other palm pilot devices via infrared makes it easy to record and keep track of colleagues' contact information. The day planning software, with it's configurable alarms and repeat dates is also very handy. The Palm Desktop and Hotsync software intelligently backs up data and files from the handheld unit, and schedules entered on your computer through the software are automatically updated on the device. Macintosh users take note, the included hotsync cradle terminates in PC cords, so you'll need to by the adapter to convert to Macintosh serial or the USB kit for newer Macs (both should be available on Amazon.com). If your machine is IrDA compliant, you can hotsync via infrared, but you will need to get some preliminary files on the unit through a cradle hotsync or beaming to do so.

One of the strong points of the whole Palm line of PDAs is the overwhelming number of third party applications (shareware, freeware, and high powered commercial programs with trial periods) that are available online through a variety of web sites. These files range from classic board games to old books in a Palm document format to graphics and spreadsheet programs. Free online services, such as AvantGo, even download user selectable web pages to the unit upon hotsync for review on the bus or while waiting in a line.

To learn of the variety of tasks that this device can perform, I encourage new users to check out online resources and books such as David Pogue's "Palm Pilot: the Ultimate Guide. (2nd Edition)" The book includes a Macintosh/Windows/Linux CD-ROM loaded with software for the Palm, and even though many of the programs have newer versions available, the breadth of the material covered in the text (and links to the software developer's websites on the CD-ROM) make it a worth while purchase.

Those interested in protecting their investment may want to investigate the reasonably priced extended warranty options available directly from Palm Computing (including a screen replacement program and a one year extension of the warranty).

Although I will likely upgrade to a unit with more memory for storing programs and files in the future, the Palm IIIe has served me well. Overall, this device is an incredible value for its price!

I have heard a lot of people tell me not to get a Palm IIIe because it is not the smallest Palm model out there. . . This is a straw-man argument. I got a Palm IIIe and it is GREAT. 2MB or memory is not much for my desktop, I have 256 MB of RAM and 30 gigs of HD, but for my Palm Pilot, this is more than I will ever need! Don't waist your money on more expensive models, unless you are planning to write a dissertation on your palm pilot, and a lot more, it will hold it all with PLENTY to spare. As far as size, it is the exact size as most other palm models, and it is VERY portable. Someone said that it is visible in a sport coat, well they need to trim down a few pounds then, or buy a coat that fits. Not only do I keep mine in a sport coat pocket, I keep it in the smaller pocket on the inside left of most of my coats. I wear a 39 Long so the pockets are smaller than most coats anyway, and trust me, you can't see or feel it. The Palm IIIe is a Great buy, and a heck of a Palm Pilot, no upgrade is needed, unless you want to connect to the web with no wires, then get the Palm Vii and pay $44 a month. Hope this was helpful.

I agree that the IIIe is a good value. The built-in applications are both easy to use and flexible. It is simple, for example, to display all your memos, or just those to do with work, or just those to do with personal matters.

I found the display plenty easy to read, and the software set up quickly on the computer. I found its handwriting language easy to learn. You do need to make sure, however, that you have a spare serial port on your computer; I had to install a new one, and that turned out to be a pain (so much for Plug and Play). I have had some problem using the synchonization eith Netscape e-mail; I needed a new MAPI32.DLL file, and the synchonization isn't set up well for using multiple Netscape configurations.

There's plenty of software out there for purchase or simply for the downloading. I found a very handling shopping-list program that I wouldn't do without now, and I'm trying out a checkbook program. But my favorite toy so far is AvantGo Web browsing software. It really does work. And games play reasonably well -my kids keep wanting to play them. But don't expect the crisp, active-matrix game display of a device made for that purpose.

The 2 megabytes of RAM seems to be plenty. Even after loading the IIIe up with e-mail and AvantGo (half a megabyte including downloaded Web pages) I still have nearly half the memory left.

The IIIe won't upgrade, but from what I've seen most of the software out there will run on 2.0 (my IIIe has 3.1). By the time I need an upgrade it will probably be time to buy a new organizer anyway.

The main negative is the outrageous price for peripherals. A modem and keyboard together cost more than the unit itself.

I usually don't like PDAs, because I remember all the appointments and I use my cellular to store phone numbers, that's why I only bought a IIIe. I figured if I don't like it, I'll be able to sell it quick. Well, now I can't live without it ;) Not only do I have all my phone numbers and adresses on it, but the programs you can download are so many and most of them are freeware, I now use my Palm IIIe all the time. I don't think I'll let it go, I would prefer to keep it and buy another Palm with more memories, but not right now, I'm using only half the memory of my Palm right now, I still have time ;) And now lots of my friends are going to follow me and buy a Palm :)

SanDisk SDDR-64-768 Compact Flash to PC Card Adapter

SanDisk SDDR-64-768 Compact Flash to PC Card AdapterI was very excited to get this card adapter so I could stop using my external USB device to down load photos. I popped it in and inserted my 4GB card which wasn't nearly full, and it told me the estimated time to finish was 25 minutes!!! I couldn't ever remember it taking that long, so I cancelled the transfer after watching it for about 5 minutes or so just to make sure it wasn't going to speed up or equalize or something. I put the same card in my usual USB card reader and it started the transfer (of all photos, not just the remaining ones), and it took 7 minutes to complete. I don't think that USB 2.0 is slower than PCMCIA bus, because you can get a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card adaptor! I can't figure out why a simple device would cause the transfer to take so long. It wasn't really worth the effort to return the opened $12 item and get charged a restocking fee, so I still have it, but I only use my USB card reader. Maybe it would work better as a coaster for drinks or something!

This product is exactly what I was looking for! It is the perfect solution to not carrying around your annoying USB card reader. This shipped in a couple of days, plugged it in to my Dell 600M laptop, and it works beautifully! And with a name like SanDisk, you know you are getting a quality product! Don't think twice, BUY IT NOW!

Oh, and to those wondering if, when plugged in, it is flush with the side of your laptop (as I was wondering)...IT IS! Even when you have a CF card in, it is still flush with the side of your laptop. It does NOT pertrude one bit, unlike WiFi cards!

I don't know why these types of cards are still on the market--they are old, slow, and obsolete. Instead, search for 32-bit Cardbus adapters such as the ones made by Viking, Delkin, or Lexar, which are many times faster but not much more expensive. And, they fit in the same PC card slot on most laptops made in the last decade. The 32-bit cards I have used are even a bit faster than USB 2.0 and Firewire.

You can spot 32-bit cards by the gold strip at the top of the card. No gold strip? Then prepare to wait an hour or more for your data to transfer, while your laptop is brought to its knees. The old silver cards may be fine for storing and playing mp3s, or may be needed for laptops made more than 10 years ago, but any large amount of data--such as GBs of photos or video-will take quite a while to copy over. Why would you want a reader that is SLOWER than your flash media?

Especially good for laptop users. Faster, smaller, and CHEAPER than most USB solutions. I lost my USB reader about a month after buying this. I didn't even care to go look for it. Works great with my Apple Powerbooks.

Transfer rates were around 1Mb per second too slow for good video playback. I don't understand why SanDisk would offer a slow 16 bit PCMCIA (Type I) card that you could never take advantage of Ultra or Extreme compact flash memory? If you want to transfer large files to or from compact flash memory, purchase the 32 bit PCMCIA (Type II) adapter made by Viking InterWorks. With the Viking adapter, a 6 GB of iTunes folder was moved in about 5 minutes (~20Mb/sec)) to a 16Gb Extreme III compact flash card.

Saunders 00497 RhinoSkin Aluminum Hardcase for Palm Tungsten TX/T5

Saunders 00497 RhinoSkin Aluminum Hardcase for Palm Tungsten TX/T5I've had an aluminum Rhinoskin for years now on my old Palm Vx, so I was excited to see one finally become available for my newer T5. I'm sure all the Rhinoskin specs are available elsewhere online, so I'll stick to comments on useability. Although this is not a review of the PalmOne aluminum hardcase, I will make some comparisons, since that is what I have been using til now with my T5.

Since my T5 tends to get bounced around a fair bit inside various backpack pockets and flight bags, having a hard case to protect it has always been quite important to me. The trick is in trying to maintain as much protection as possible, while at the same time making it as useable as possible, and I am quite impressed with the Rhinoskin in this regard.

My first observation was that the Rhinoskin looks sleeker than the PalmOne hardcase. In fact, comparing them side by side reveals that the Rhinoskin actually is a bit smaller in every dimension. The design appears well thought out cutouts in the case provide access to all of the T5 connectors without having to open the case. There is even an access hole on the buttom for the reset button (not that any of ever have to worry about resetting our Palm right????), and a small grille so one can hear the speaker. Even the infrared port has its own cutout. The stylus is easily accessible with either the case open or closed. I've always been a bit irritated with my PalmOne case, which I had to not only open, but then also pull the Palm a ways out of the back side of the case as well to remove the stylus.

Any time you make a cutout in any hard case, there is no doubt that you reduce the protection to some degree. Even though there are a lot of cutouts in this case, they seem well-designed, and are custom fit to the T5's configuration. As a result, overall protection for the T5 inside seems to remain quite high it's a design that appears to do a good job balancing protection with useability.

The case is held closed by little metal latching tabs, which provide detent-like action for opening and closing. Unlike the PalmOne latch (plastic), the latching mechanism is all metal and should be pretty durable. If the detent holding action isn't enough for you, it appears that you could *probably* bend the metal tab on side slightly for more resistance, although I don't anticipate wanting to do this anytime soon myself.

Mounting your T5 into the case is accomplished in the same way as with the PalmOne casethat is, but sliding the T5 into a plastic "rail" mounted along the hingeline of the Rhinoskin. Once mounted and the case is closed, there is only a slight amount of "rattle" space certainly far less than with my PalmOne case.

I normally carry two SD cards with me in my case, a standard-size SD memory card, and a PalmOne WiFi SDIO card. Although the Rhinoskin case includes slide-in storage space for two SD cards on the inside of the front cover, I was initially concerned that the SDIO card wouldn't fit because it is so much larger than an SD memory card. On my PalmOne case, I had solved this problem by filing back the little plastic rails of the card holder partway to allow the SDIO card to actually fit fairly decently. However, I was happily surprised to find that the WiFi SDIO card actually fits quite well into the Rhinoskin! The trick in getting it to fit is to put it in upside down and backwards (i.e. when fully inserted, the metal contacts on the card will be exposed and toward the top). In this configuration, the "bulging" part of the SDIO card is away from the screen of the T5 when the lid is closed, and appears to provide a comfortable distance from the screen when closed.

I suppose I should also mention that the Rhinoskin also comes with a belt-clip attachment. It works by screwing in a little metal post into a screw socket on the back side of the Rhinoskin. With the metal post screwed in, the provided plastic belt-clip attachment clips on or off to the metal post, much in the same way as many cell-phone belt clips. The beauty for me in this arrangement is that since I don't plan on using the belt clip at all, I can leave the metal post out and not have to worry about it catching on things. However, it will be available if I ever do decide I want to walk around town with my Palm on my belt, and will only take a minute to install.

If protecting your T5 is of high importance to you, but you want much better useability and a sleeker look than the competition, then check out the Rhinoskin.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase a T5 case of my Palm Tx; but I am glad I did. I often prefer the soft, black, leather cases for all my Palm pilots ( well, at least for my past ones...) but I ventured on faith to purchase my first hard case for my new device and I probably will never go back. This is the perfect case for this Palm. It fits like a glove. There aren't any pockets in it for cards or money; its strictly a case for the Palm Pilot and has two SD card slots in the front of it. I really like the fact that the Palm itself is not stuck in a stationary place in the case; but it fits on a separate plastic hinge and can easily be "flipped" to its back and (if needs be) can be cleaned or accessed. When closed, all the vital Palm parts are still available: It can easily be charged, the earphone jack is readily accessible, even the speaker and the "reset" buttons all have their openings.

Remember; this is not a wallet case there are no slots for credit cards for your your dollar bills. If you are looking for a slim-line case just to house this Palm and a couple of memory cards; this is the perfect case for you!

Buy Saunders 00497 RhinoSkin Aluminum Hardcase for Palm Tungsten TX/T5 Now

This is a solidly built, highly protective case for the Palm Tungsten TX (I assume it also works well for the T5, but this one was bought for a TX). The design is simple; it consists of an aluminum hardshell lined with thin neoprene that provides shock protection. It doesn't add much to the size or weight of the TX, and most everything is accessible with the case shut (you probably can't put it in a crade-type charger, but that's about it.) Overall quality seems pretty good, and your TX is likely to survive a drop from 'held in your hand' height to the floor with no or minimal cosmetic damage.

There are, however, two quirky things with the design that caused me to ding it a star in the rating.

1) The latch/grip point you use to open the case is, IMO, poorly designed. It is fairly difficult to open the case with one hand, since the little grippy bit on the 'front' of the case is hard to grip/push effectively. There is a small lip on the 'back' side that is easy to push against -but you normally would open the case by pulling the 'front' towards you, not pushing the 'back' away. On the bright side, it is not going to come open accidentally in a bag or anything like that.

2) The SD card slots in the inside front of the unit seem to be backwards. The way the cards go into the slots, you are looking at the backside of them -and the contacts are exposed and vulnerable to damage! They should be flipped around the other way so that the contacts are protected better and you can see the labels on the front of the cards.

The belt clip isn't that great -it doesn't 'lock' like some other designs I've seen, so the PDA can swing and rotate annoyingly -but at least is solidly built and doesn't look like it will fall apart or fall off. If you want something to keep a TX on your hip, look elsewhere.

This case is nearly identical in design to the "Palm TX Armor Case" (which I also ordered for comparison purposes). That case is available in black if you want a hard case that isn't silver in color. I kept this one because the it seemed a little sturdier and it came with a 2-year product protection label from StuffBak for free.

PERSPECTIVE: Active Palm owner and user

I recently upgraded to a Palm T|X from my old T3, and chose again to go with a RhinoSkin hard case, given my previous good experiences with their products. Thus far, I have not been disappointed.

In terms of protection, the case is of admirably sturdy construction, and has yet to see a dent from my clumsy handling. The latch seems less "tight" than I feel comfortable with, but can me manually bent slightly to allow for better closure in any case, it has not popped open when dropped. The T|X itself fits snugly in place by means of a rail that slides up one side of the Palm and locks in. The case is lined with a layer of foam, and is conformed perfectly to the contour of the T|X, without extra room for the unit to rattle around inside.

With regards to functionality, 2 secure slots for spare expanision cards are available in the door, and are easy to access without risking harm to the screen of the T|X inside. Well-designed openings at the top and bottom allow easy access for the IR port, expansion cards, synching and charging, without removing the unit from the case.

I do not use the belt clip feature on the case, due to my current "gadget setup" it suits me well to have it either in my pocket or a bag. However, it is important to bring up the one design criticism that I have, which is true of all RhinoSkin hard cases I've tried recently the belt clip mechanism is unreliable. The belt clip hooks on by clipping onto a screw, which needs to be tightened into the back of the case first. This design choice seems to be made so that if you choose to use the case without the clip, there will be nothing "extra" protruding from the back of the unit, allowing for easier storage and eliminating a "snagging" risk. The difficulty is that, no matter how tightly I've secured the screw, it eventually works its way loose. This leads to the Palm dropping off my belt at random times, without warning. The only way around this is to routinely unclip the unit and check the screw, which is clearly both inconvenient and easy to forget to do. And, as good as this case is at protecting the T|X inside, avoiding extra trauma to one's expensive PDA can only be a good thing.

FINAL WORD: An excellent option for attractive protection for your Palm T|X. Just be vigilent if you plan on using the belt clip.

Want Saunders 00497 RhinoSkin Aluminum Hardcase for Palm Tungsten TX/T5 Discount?

My TX was coming out of my purse drained of power once or twice a week, and I was blaming the new device. Then a friend of mine suggested that stuff in my purse might be turning it on or shorting across the charging pins. Also, I wanted to keep different cards for media and for work data.

So this looked like a robust little case for such a purpose.

The ergonomics are great. I can grab it, and fish the stylus up with my right hand while opening the case with my left hand. The card slots allow me to carry three cards (2 in the case and one in the TX).

Sometimes, I will head out of the house with nothing but my cell, keys, and my TX -with my drivers license, debit card, transit pass and a couple biz cards tucked in the case. This doesn't work in my purse, because it really overstuffs the case a bit, but it works fine in the pocket of my jeans.

As I often am seen carrying a dense little backpack that masquerades as a purse, this is a liberating thing...:)

Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Pro

Corel WordPerfect Office X6 ProMicrosoft had discontinued five software programs I used; and what is worse, they no longer offer any support for the file format for two of these I happen to have many files I created with and now I can never review or work with again. So, I thought about moving over to Apple but had to admit they are a strange breed of operating system and software. So what else could I do, but find a PC alternative. And Corel seemed it. I am not disappointed at all. This suite works better and is easy to figure out, even better then Microsoft Office was. I read reviews about Corel and M.S. head to head, and I cannot agree that M.S. is better. You have better control over your document creation. Then we have the conversion of Word too WordPerfect and back again, no issues here either. All the other programs in the Corel suite work very well too. if you seek further information before forking out the money, which I understand totally, I would visit YouTube or use RealPlayer to review the how to use WordPerfect Office. Or perhaps buy the book that seems only available from Corel's website ("Reference Guide").

I love word perfect... so much more user friendly than Microsoft word... I downloaded the trial version of the x6 and LOVED it.. So to find such a great price here on Amazon when the usual price is almost $400 was the icing on the cake!! So easy to download off Amazon! Do not hesitate, you won't find it at a better price.

I have used WordPerfect 8 since 1995. It satisfied all my word production and graphic needs. The only reason I upgraded was that I was experiencing a lot of glitches, probably because of the interface with newer Microsoft programs.

I have not even begun to fully explore the differences between the older and newer, but I do find the thesaurus less useful than the older version. It seems to mimic Microsoft Word rather than keep what was good, which mainly offered synonyms rather than a grammatical use of the word.

I hope everything else is at least as good as the old version.

  • Internal 1500mAh Lithium-Ion battery stores power for whenever you need it and recharges from the sun or the included USB cable.
  • Includes windshield mount cradle & universal carbineer mount.

I had my doubts about how this product would actually work and if it would allow me to charge my Iphone3GS because Apple has made its phone series very picky about chargers. I can safely say that this product charges WITHOUT forcing the popup about being a non-standard charger. The unit itself its quite small and I have it attached to the windshield of my car with the included suction cups. I'm using it to charge up my phone while running the Navigation and Traffic Apps (which really drain the phone). Overall I would rate it 5 stars and I'm considering purchasing another for additional devices that I could carry with me on trips.

Once set up, this charger is great to have around. I bike and camp a lot and it's great to have a charger that doesn't need electricity. But, as another reviewer pointed out, the instructions for this charger are very unclear. Some chargers (not solar powered) indicate the amount of charge left. With this charger, there is no way to know whether the it's fully charged or almost out. The only way to tell it's charged is that the "charge in" light goes out when plugged in or in sunlight. Definitely take the advice of another reviewer and start out by fully charging this through the USB connection. I think it's best use is to have it in constant sunlight during the day (hooked on your bike or backpack) then charge your ipod/iphone ect. overnight. But once you figure out it's idiosyncrasies, and if your activities take you away from electricity for hours/days at a time, it's really useful.

I bought this with full knowledge of the physics limitation on this device. For those of you who thought this would be a replacement for the Household AC plug in or even a car charger, I am sure you were disappointed. First off here is the science behind the device. It has a internal 1500mAh Lithium-Ion battery. My Nexus S Google phone has a Samsung 1440mah Lithium-Ion Battery. Great you say. Here's the catch. Though the Scosche SolBAT II may have more little more juice than the phone battery itself, when it begins to discharge its energy to the cellphone, at some point the energy ( I am trying to explain it in non-scientific terms), in the Scosche SolBAT II will reach the same energy level in the cellphone (equilibrium) and it will no longer transfer its energy. That means that the charger will not bring your cellphone up to 100% or even 80% charge. You are looking at 40% to 50% charge max, that's it. Now in a pinch, when you are hiking away from civilization or at the beach or on a train where there are no outlets, this device will recharge your battery to a level that you can use your phone. That's the greatest feature, but it will not do what you expect from an AC outlet. Which is to recharge your phone to the 100% level. So don't expect that. Yes, the manufacturers could have built a device with a stronger internal battery, three maybe four times the energy level, that could recharge your phone closer to the 100% level. But then it would cost three of four times the price. For $20 you get a charger that does not draw from the electric grid, it will bring a dead or dying cellphone battery back to life to an acceptable level for moderate usage. Understand the limitations, and you will be happy with this remarkable device. Hope this helps everyone in making their purchasing decision. I am happy with the product, I know what it is and isn't capable of doing. I am glad I have it, since the electric grid isn't always available. Also you can recharge the Scosche SolBAT II using household electric current too.

PDair Aluminum Metal Case for HTC Desire/HTC Bravo - Open Screen Design (Black)

PDair Aluminum Metal Case for HTC Desire/HTC Bravo - Open Screen DesignPDair Aluminum Metal Case for HTC Desire/HTC Bravo Open Screen Design (Black) I have gotten 4 different cases for my phone from the strechable plastic ones to the bodyglove and otterbox. Nothing feels as solid as this, the others have broken or stretched too much. The case has a layer of foam on the back and front to hold it snug under the metal. the only downside is the hinge sticks out on the right side and snags on my pocket. it comes with a belt clip attachment that I have not used (the peg is optional too). if you are trying to decide between different styles, get this one, save your money from the "cheaper" ones and you wont be sorry.

Genuine SLD OTG USB Host Cable for Google Nexus 7

Genuine SLD OTG USB Host Cable for Google Nexus 7I purchased this for use with my Google Nexus 7 as it is advertised for: "Genuine SLD OTG USB Host Cable for Google Nexus 7". It was to be used for a trip so I had it rush delivered. It arrived on time but low and behold it did not work with my Nexus 7. The cable did not seed properly into my Nexus and kept falling out. It was the wrong fit. I contacted Amazon but was not able to get a number for the actual seller to voice my complaint. Amazon refunded my money including shipping and offered a credit towards future purchases which was a plus. Unfortunately I did not have what I needed for my trip.

No problem using this in conjuction with Nexus Media Importer app to transfer ebooks onto my tablet. Haven't tried music or movie files yet but am sure they will be just as easy.

I purchased this to use with a Galaxy Nexus, since it doesn't have an SD card slot. It works great with both CM 10.1 and TWRP 2.3.3.0 recovery. Just plug it in and the USB disk is automatically mounted. Also works with my Galaxy SII Skyrocket.

8140Y218 Camera flex cable ribbon for Motorola RAZR V3c/RAZR V3m

8140Y218 Camera flex cable ribbon for Motorola RAZR V3c/RAZR V3mI bought this part to repair my wife's damaged RAZR V3, which was dying of old age. The cable arrived new in a static-proof pouch in excellent condition. It was of made slightly different material than the original part(more flexible), but fully compatible and fit perfectly.

Unfortunately for me replacing it did not resolve the problems with this particular phone. I now believe mine has a short in the keypad which is not connected through this cable. Still satisfied with the product.

Think Outside Universal Bluetooth Keyboard Stowaway

Think Outside Universal Bluetooth Keyboard StowawayGreat keyboard, much heavier than expected. Instructions suck you have to press the little white button with a paperclip or something to make it discoverable, then enter the 4 digit code on the keyboard and press enter.

I've used a lot of different portable keyboards, but this is by far the best keyboard I've used. The size of the keys are perfect for touch typing, and the dedicated number keys are a God-send! The battery life is also excellent as I have been using mine daily for about two weeks now and so far so good.

I bought this unit for my Palm Treo 650 and it always had challenges in working consistently. I made numerous calls to the original company and they even sent a replacement and numerous software upgrades.

On the positive side as plain bluetooth keyboard it always worked fine with IBM Thinkpad laptop.

I did a 2 hour test on it on my 3GS iPhone and it come up running even faster and better than on my laptop. Too bad they End of Lifed this product. It works just fine and I now have a way of typing on my iPhone while on planes.

I bought this keyboard for my son's Christmas present for use with a Nokia N95 phone. It uses the Symbian operating system, and this keyboard information indicated that operating system was supported. It turned out, however, that this support was only partial: only some Symbian phones are compatible, others are not. It took a visit to the manufacturer's website and a substantial amount of time to determine this was why it did not work with the phone. It was not disclosed anywhere in readily available, more easily accessible form. Check carefully before purchasing that your particular device is supported.

I purchased this keyboard to use with a tablet PC, which has no keyboard at all. A colleague has the same PC and I thought I was buying the same keyboard he recommended. This one functions as-advertised, and the size and spacing of the keys is very close to a "regular" keyboard, but has two problems. One is that it has no number keys, so the top row has multiple purposes. To type numbers one must hold down a function key; really slows me down. The other is that the keys fold out in two directions from a center section. Only the center section touches the desk surface. It has a small bump in each corner. Typing keys at the far right or left sometimes makes the keyboard tip because they are not supported.

OK, a third problem: most keys are standard size, but the center 'space' key is very small to allow for the extra function keys, so I often hit a function key instead of the space key.

If you want minimum size and don't type very fast, it's fine for you. If you are a touch typer and might use this a lot, get a similar product that actually has a full keyboard.

Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ-4013 11.6-Inch Netbook Carrying Case (Deluxe Bag - Dark Blue / Black)

Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ-4013 11.6-Inch Netbook Carrying CaseI got this bag to carry my 11.6 Acer Timeline, it's accesories and some extras. It is well made, sturdy with many dividers and pockets. The notebook fits snugly but is well protected by padding. The power supply and mouse go in side pockets. I have enough room for some folded paperwork, notepads, pens, etc. I also have room for 2 paperbacks and a candy bar/cookie snack. All this weighs about 5 pounds. I have used slightly larger bags that did carry more, but the whole idea of this bag was to be useful [it is] and force me to keep the weight down for travel [it does].

GEARONIC Kindle fire HD Black Magnetic Microfiber Leather Case w/Smart Cover Handheld Belt Stylus H

GEARONIC Kindle fire HD Black Magnetic Microfiber Leather Case w/Smart Cover Handheld Belt Stylus HolderI originally bought a case that could rotate 360 degrees; while that case was great for hands-free viewing, it didn't provide enough stability when holding the Kindle for reading. This case provides that stability -I can hold the Kindle with one hand, with or without the hand strap, even when I'm lying down in bed. Other good things: the sleep/wake function, the elastic strap for closing, the speaker holes, the cutouts for all ports including the charger, a loop for a stylus. Negatives for this case include not being able to fold the front cover perfectly flush against the back cover (although this actually isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be). Also, while it stands well in the landscape mode, it doesn't stand well in portrait mode. It's not the thinnest case out there, about the size of an average hardcover book. The PU leather has a slight smell that goes away with time. Overall, the negatives are minor. For this price, I think it's a good deal.

Acer Aspire V5-171-6471 11.6-Inch Laptop (Silky Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-171-6471 11.6-Inch LaptopI really adore this mobile computer. I am a mobile person and the size is perfect for every day commuting and long-distance travel; it has a small footprint and can fit on any surface be it an airplane seat tray or a lap. The computer does not have a disc drive (which I think is a plus), freeing it to be made very thin; it is not Macbook Air thin, but still very thin. One of my favorite features is the touchpad. It recognizes Apple like gestures and is free from the casing, so that it can physically move up and down when pressed. This gives it a very responsive feel akin to the Apple touchpad. The keyboard has keys separated by the case molding. It is not a full size keyboard, but I find the Chiclet-like keys helps prevent pressing more than one key at a time when typing; it also looks very cool.

I like a fast computer and this Acer has a lot horsepower for its price range since it has an Intel Core i5, instead of a Core i3. This means it comes with Intel's Turbo Boost technology. I believe the Turbo Boost makes a big difference in a laptop where power consumption is directly related to battery life. Most of the time a lot of horsepower isn't needed, e.g. web surfing, so battery power is saved. But when you need to open or run a demanding program like MATLAB (you'll see I love MATLAB) then Turbo Boost really shines and everything will run faster.

I took this computer to another level by upgrading to a solid-state hard drive and highly recommend this. The SSD makes boot up incredibly fast. (Note about installing Windows via USB: Format a USB (>4GB) with FAT32. Then extract a Windows Installation ISO to the USB using 7-zip. Super simple :)(Note 2: or use Clonezilla to clone the Windows that ships with the drive onto the new one.). With this setup the computer is very snappy. The computer boots in about 5 seconds. MATLAB opens on my laptop faster than my desktops!

I did not want to spend more than $800 on a new laptop. This laptop perfectly fits my computing needs and wants without breaking the budget. I think it is as cool as a computer can be without being a Macbook, which this computer clearly used as an inspiration. I don't believe in spending top-of-the-line money for laptops, because the dollar goes further in a desktop and laptops don't have as much longevity due to wear and tear (I'm pretty rough on laptops. They get banged around in my backpack when I bike around or travel). However, being unwilling to spend enough can result in an impotent laptop: more than a Chromebook (which are awesome in their own way, but specialized), yet not quite powerful enough for doing more than surf the web, write docs, and make slides; having a computer powerful enough to run MATLAB (or a similarly demanding program like Photoshop) was important to me. The Aspire V5-171 has met my needs and surpassed my expectations. It represents a fantastic value: it combines computing power and great aesthetics into a very convenient and mobile form factor.

The only caveat I can think of is this is not a "gamer's" laptop. However, it has the best integrated graphics chip Intel offers and will play a lot of modern games on the lowest visual settings at decent frame rates.

Finally, there are a few miscellaneous features that further prove how this laptop is the complete package. In addition to an HDMI port, there is also a VGA port. I think it is great to have both, because there is now the flexibility of giving a presentation on an HD screen or an older projector without needing to tote around extra adapters. There is also a USB 3.0 port to help future proof this machine. Another nice unheralded feature is the power cord, which does not have a "Ghostbusters brick". Instead it has the adapter plug directly into the wall; this seems to have reduced the size of the power cord and represents to me less of a trip hazard. My only wish is that the power cord would connect to the laptop using a magnet ala Apple (the ultimate in trip prevention), but I don't mind so much because this laptop comes in at such a nice price.

It might be helpful to describe my PREVIOUS computer. For the last two plus years I have been using an Acer one, 10.5" notebook. I had upgraded the ram to 2 GB. I never had anything that small before, but really I liked the size, and also the ACER quality (for the price).

I did a lot of research before I bought this new ACER. I'm a tightwad and I didn't want to pay for any more than I needed. After the first week I am totally pleased.

One of the problems with the previous notebook was the undersized keys and keyboard. The move up to 11.5 inches has allowed for full sized, fully spaced keys. I'm a writer and I need a real keyboard that I can use anywhere. Someone else referred to these keys as "chiclets". Yes, they protrude up individually through the casing. They're very easy to type on. It verges on fun. The only thing that concerns me is that they may accumulate dirt, which may be difficult to get out. But, that can't be any worse than most other keyboards.

I don't do any gaming; So, the 6 GB is really great. The processor and RAM are quite adequate for word processing, spreadsheets, surfing, and watching Netflix.

It is super slim, portable and very light. Note, however, that the power cable is on the right side. I would prefer the left, but it's not a big deal.

The screen quality is very good for the price. The size of the screen is perfect. It is the smallest possible screen for a real keyboard. It is big enough for all the programs to run without size problems.

In regard to software: I was very skeptical of W8. I spent 3 or 4 hours familiarizing myself with it. I finally got it set up. Basically I only see the APPS screen when I boot. I go straight from there to a (more or less) familiar window's desktop. It's working OK, but I'm thinking about defecting to Linux Ubuntu.

I also may install an SSD drive when I do that. This is not because I am dissatisfied with what came in the box. I think it's a great value for what I paid.

Now, a word to the wise about MS office. MS is really trying to rope everyone who needs office into annual fees, high prices, and so forth. I refuse to do it.

I first tried Open Office, but soon learned that they (apache? I think) are not keeping it up. I had trouble with migrating excel files and formatting. But, Libre Office is really great. They're on top of it. It's open source. It's free and it works. It doesn't have all the features of the later versions of office, but for my needs, it is just fine.

I tried the W8 and to date I have no objection.

The memory and processor speed meet my requirement fully expected.

I bought this to supplement my home computer and so far it has performed amazingly! Smooth, fast start ups and the least issues of any new computer I've ever had. Has been able to handle some newer games that don't need insane processor power like Diablo III and Starcraft II. I also have zero issues using google chrome with multiple windows open and word documents and spreadsheets.

I would give this laptop a Four except that its battery life is quite poor. After adjusting the power settings for minimum power, I have trouble getting more than three hours from it. Acer should have give it a larger battery. Acer doesn't have a larger battery available for after market either.

Like the machine, hate the battery!

REALOOK Cowon V5 Screen Protector, Crystal Clear 2-PK

REALOOK Cowon V5 Screen Protector, Crystal Clear 2-PKCan not agree with the other poster on this product it was your placement I did that with another brand on a touch screen and blamed product (they shipped another one to me). I was mistaken I got a tiny bit of one of the corners between the plastic protector and the mp3 case edge making the unit unresponsive. I myself just bought the cowon v5 and bought this exact same protector and it works great and I love how ridgid it is (great protection for screen) and how clear it stays as if it was not even there. My touch screen is just as responsive as if it was not there I tried touch screen with and without the screen protector. Thankfully We get Two for this awesome price because like others I messed up the first one it was going slightly crooked at the very end and I would have had to jam it under the casing to get it to fit (most likely what the other user did) and of course I got finger prints when I pulled it back up (my fault entirely). I just bought another one because I saw there were only 3 left becuase I love this product it's even better than the Lexerd brand (they are good too) but they are not as thick and you pay 10$ for only one plus 5$ shipping they too are crystal clear but hey this one is a better product (thicker means better protection) and two for 5$ less a win win.

The screen protector does it's job to well. While protecting my Cowon V5 screen it also disables the touch buttons due to the rigidity of the screen protector. Waste of my time.
