Topeak Small Handy Phone Pack

Topeak Small Handy Phone PackAs a cyclist that often gets the "Where are you and when are you coming home?" phone call from the better half, I can appreciate the necessities of having your phone very handy when those calls come in. I usually would carry my cellphone in the MTB rack-bag that I carry all of my tools and spare parts in when I go to hurt myself in the woods, or I would stuff it in my camelback pocket during road rides ... either way, the phone never got answered or never heard when it was ringing.

I needed a better way to handle my phone while I was riding.

I purchased the Topeak Handy Phone Pack, Small, for my Casio G'zOne Granite ruggedized phone along with several of the Fixer F66 handlebar stem mount nuts.

It turned out that this bag produced a tight, almost vice-like grip on my cell phone ... albeit I have the extended battery on the back, so it is a tad taller than it would be otherwise. That said, this death-grip on the phone is a very good way to carry on rough trails or on the road.

During my weekly off-road ride, I heard the phone ring ... I began to pry the phone out of the bag in the time it took to miss the call ... I'm gonna blame it on the battery.

This size issue is an easy fix. So easy that this morning I swapped the battery out for the standard one the phone came with. That dropped the depth of the phone down to what falls within the specs of the bag. I'll test fit it out tonight when I get home, but I think that that one change may make this bag come into its own when I use it on my next ride. 30Aug11 UPDATE I tried the phone in the bag last night and it was easier to get out with the standard battery installed.

I also was very impressed with the Fixer 66 mounting nut.

This thingamabob is one of the greatest things for cycling since kevlar lined knobbies. It held my overstuffed Handy Phone Pack on a very rough trail that had some rather abrupt stops that I did not plan. It easily released the pack from the built-in clip even while I was wearing my full-fingered gloves. It is a wonder that other phone bag manufacturers are not using this clip set to attach their bike bags with ... simple, elegant and tough. It is also cheap enough to purchase one for every bike that you ride ... at least that is what I did.

Cheers,

Darrell

Sturdy case which comes with Topeak Fixer 55 mounting strap. This case wasn't large enough to hold my Blackberry Torch.

Great perfect (snug) fit for a Razor cell phone when taken on bike rides. Holds cell phone securely without bouncing around. Weather resistant, quick access, and detachable if necessary. Could also be used to carry car keys, credit cards, drivers license etc. Great cell phone pack.

I needed to replace my old reliable Topeak pack to carry a flip phone or my other smart phone and maybe some gue. I could not fit any phone into this pack. I also ordered the Topeak Handy E Pack at the same time. This small pack will never get used. I supposed I could mount it somewhere and carry tube patches.

The mount is fine. If you only want to carry one VERY small device or your car keys, it will work great. If your cargo is much bigger than a keyless remote and key ring, look for a bigger pack.

Iriscan Book 2 Executive

Iriscan Book 2 ExecutiveDevice works WONDERFUL, instructions are HORRIBLE.

I do not think it would have killed the manufacturer to provide "dumbed down" instructions for idiots with IQs under 164, like me.

Anyway, here is what I figured out. These instructions are for the Mac. I shudder to think what you Windoze people will have to go through.

First, you need to set up the device for recognition by the Mac's Bluetooth. You only have to do this once, through "System Preferences > Bluetooth". Easy enough: just make sure the scanner is set to "BT".

Then for anything that you want to scan:

1) Turn on scanner to "Scan"

2) If desired, set color ("C/BW") and DPI ("LOW/HIGH") with switches on side of scanner to appropriate settings

3) Put scanner on item to be scanned, click the "SCAN" button once to start (Green SCAN LED should come on)

4) Move the scanner slowly on the item to be scanned.

5) When finished scanning, click the "SCAN" button again: green SCAN LED will turn off.

6) Slide scanner's button to "BT"

7) On computer's menu bar, select "Handy Scanner > Browse Device"

8) In the "Browsing..." window, select the file you want to transfer by double-clicking on it. It will ask you for a destination.

This device is absolutely indispensable when you want to scan something where a standard flatbed scanner is impractical, like your local public library.

I've had plenty of experience with "handheld scanners" back in the late '80s. This product is a glorious "step up".

I just purchased this product after using and enjoying the IRIS digital pen. This product simply works wonders for capturing any information out of bound source material. I am into genealogy and had been searching for a portable scanner that I could bring with me when doing research. This product not only grabs the info and pictures I want but allows me to take the text and turn it into an editable Word document allowing me to copy/paste into Rootsmagic saving me tons of time. It came with an SD memory card large enough to hold hundreds of scans with room to spare and once I get a Blutooth adapter for my PC I am sure that feature will come in handy for transferring/printing the scans wireless. If you are looking for a great rechargeable portable scanner and don't wish to lug your laptop this may be an option for you.

First, the instructions are the worst I have ever encountered for any electronic product I have ever bought. They have put all their effort into providing as many languages as possible into one tiny booklet.

Second, the customer is not warned before the purchase that there is no good way to scan a bound book created with letter-sized pages. The non-scanning ends are simply too big. That's what I bought it for. By the time I had traveled to the library that had the rare book, it was too late to return the scanner. The 30-day return period starts when you ORDER the scanner, not when you get it.

The image quality is too poor for photographs. My advice is to try a wand scanner before you order it and choose a brand with better documentation and a better return policy.

The bluetooth option along with a reviewer stating it works with their ipad lead me to believe that this scanner would work with my iPad in a similar manner as the camera attachment. (I know it was just wishful thinking on my part) I'll grant you that the description does say "tablet PC" and once you open the instruction booklet, it shows quite clearly that it *will not work with any iOS operating system*.

The only way to get your scans into the ipad is to use the camera attachment and insert the microSD card and import them. While this will work, I can buy a much less expensive handheld scanner and transfer via SD card.

I also had a 50/50 result with the actual scans performed. I'm sure over time that it would have gotten better but as I said, due to the price for what it does, it will be going back. I'm going to try out the Wolverine PASS200 Handheld Portable Documents, Books and Photo Scanner instead. As of this review, it's $50 cheaper and also scans to a microSD card.

Want Iriscan Book 2 Executive Discount?

First off the instructions are very scanty; you have to load the software to realize that you should not load it with the scanner not connected. I left the scanner hooked up for over 12 hours and only managed 2 strokes of battery life which disappeared pretty quickly in 5 minutes of use. Trying to get help on the product online is like pulling teeth. Presently i only get a one bar charge and sometimes I think the battery discharges itself. the scanner is not particularly friendly to books (as opposed to single standalone pages) maybe except when the pages between beginning and end are balanced. They're not so helpful either when the pages are double columned (just something I noticed). Right now I don't use it as I imagined but I'll take another shot at it later. Should have I bought a pen type?

CrazyOnDigital Black Leather Case For Apple iPad

CrazyOnDigital Black Leather Case For Apple iPadI got this product and it's ..., where do I start?

I found the picture for this product to be deceiving.

Mine when looking at it from a top side view, the leather wasn't straight, it was a little arched.

I found The four things holding the corners of the iPad to be so poorly designed. The one on the top right blocks the iPad screen lock button, the one on the bottom right blocks one or two of the speakers and the one on the top left blocks the microphone.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

First off, this is the first case I have used for my iPad, so I'm not saying there isn't a better case out there. For the price though, you can't beat it.

I'll point out one of the major things that worried me about the case, and that is the elastic bands that hold the unit in place. To anyone wondering if they do their job well, they really do. In fact, they hold the unit in so snuggly that I actually have trouble taking it out sometimes. They do their job, and they do it very well.

Another thing I was worried about was wether or not the front flap would have trouble staying closed after long periods of being folded back, much like the official Apple case. I have yet to experience it, in fact, I doubt it will ever happen seeing that the flap is weighted nicely.

Like the other reviewers have stated, this thing wont protect it from a pretty decent fall. It's more so meant to protect from scratches and dirt. In that aspect it will do you well, I have no problem putting this in my bag.

I jab a few cons with the case though:

1. The material inside the flap has a horrible habit if collecting tiniest crumb or spec of dirt you happen to set it in and transfers it over to the screen. It's not THAT big of a deal to me, but people coming from an official Apple case to this may find it aggravating.

2. No type of stand feature. I knew there wasn't one in the first place, but it still would've been nice.

I highly recommend this case, it's easily one of the better alternatives to the official Apple case.

This just arrived.

I couldn't be happier.

I didn't like the AppleiPad holder: it seems to me flimsy and ugly. And it's not gonna protect anything from anything.

So I ordered this. The price is amazing--1/3 to 1/6 of what other solutions cost.

It's quite nice. It makes your iPad look like an agenda or schedule. It's thicker than the thin Apple cover. And the logo is very subdued--almost invisible.

Now if you drop it, this thing's not gonna protect it a lot.

But in my messenger bag it will add a layer of protection.

Mine has a slightly chemical-y smell right out of the box. But I assume that will dissipate quickly.

This is quite a nice product. It's not gonna protect your iPad from rain and hurricane. But it's better than the $30 Apple solution--to my mind.

I was lucky and bought this case when the price was lower (1/3 of the price), but still think it is a steal for $17.99. It is solid, padded, and very classy. I agree with the other reviewer that it does have a very clean look to it, and resembles a leather agenda. I would not hesitate to buy another one (although it will be awhile, as I bought 3 of them). I highly recommend this, you will not be disappointed.

One major plus for me was that I was looking for an leather folio strictly for the iPad, I did not want pockets or any other bells and whistles (I tend to stuff things in the pockets). This is aesthetically pleasing, clean, and fits the bill perfectly!

Enjoy!

When I got my iPad, all Apple cases, were sold out.

The iPad being newly born, I was aware that reputable companies that manufacture products to protect and carry electronics would not have anything available yet. I am talking about Norev, Proporta, i-nique... all of their iPad cases are only available for pre-order.

I wanted something cheap and fast until other products would become available.

This "CrazyOnDigital" leather carrying case is inexpensive and does a reasonable job, nothing more, nothing less...

As reported already, it has a synthetic smell to it, because it is possibly not real leather. Aesthetically it looks fine.

The inside of the flap is covered with "simily" velvet plush to protect the iPad' screen. Mine had a bare spot, as big as a 1 cent coint, acceptable given the price.

The iPad is maintained by four elastic bands at each corner. The bottom bands are larger than the top ones. You can still access the "on" "off" switch at the top, the screen lock and volume switch at the right hand side.

The larger right bottom band covers two out of the three speaker ports. It does not muffle the sound.

The iPad is tightly held in the case, but longevity will need to be demonstrated over time. Especially with elastic bands.

The entire surface of the screen remains accessible;

Conclusion:

This case does the job to carry your iPad and protect the screen from being scratched. You can open the front flap backward and position it to hold it to watch or read. But there is no stop to immobilize the flap in position.

Alternatives:

I have pre-ordered the Marware Eco-Flip for iPad, because it suits me better;

-It has a unique hand strap which will allow you to hold the iPad.

-It has a foldable stand which will allow you to have a better position than flat on a surface.

I also liked the Tuff-Luv multi-view Napa Leather case cover for Apple iPad Black which has adjustable stand and has nice leather, at a price though.

Golla Bag G716 Catch Black for Iphone, Blackberry, Cell Phones, Ipods, Pda Phones and Digital Camera Case.Exactly what I hoped it would be.

It's not bulky at all, yet very protective.

My iPhone 4S has a thin Elago Slim Fit snap-on case in it. And with this case on my phone, the Golla pocket pouch bag fits PERFECTLY.

If you use any case except for a very thin snap on case, the bag would not work, so keep that in mind before ordering.

Thank you, Golla, for making this high quality, reasonably priced pocket pouch !!!

I hope you will also be making one for the new iPhone 5 that Apple will be announcing soon.

It'll fit your keyboard, but it's got no logos, some mystery symbols, no window over the caps-lock key light, and most importantly it's made of a much thinner material than a real KB cover. I don't see it lasting as long as my old cover did.

Aluminum Silver Metal Case for HTC Sensation 4G Z710e / HTC Sensation XE

Aluminum Silver Metal Case for HTC Sensation 4G Z710e / HTC Sensation XELoving this case. I purchased this a month ago for my HTC Sensation and it is fantastic.

I was looking for a very solid case that would hold up to transport in a pants pocket with keys and fully protect my expensive phone. This works very well.

All ports are easily accessible and I have not had any issues with plugs not fitting.

The finish is textured, but it wears down a bit and the case develops a nice worn look over time.

I engraved my initials onto the case for a little personalized touch. Worked great.

The only concern I had was that the case would pop open if dropped, because the latch is friction-fit. Thankfully I haven't had a chance to confirm my concern, but the tab that holds the case shut can be bent inward to provide a more secure latching mechanism.

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6888 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silky Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6888 15.6-Inch Touchscreen LaptopWas afraid of getting windows 8 plus a new computer. This set up in seconds, took a little longer getting to Windows 8 but was surfing in a few hours. The built in tutorial made the change much easier than I ever expected. I am no computer tech so I just followed the directions and have no problems with this computer. Love the speed, lighted keys, light weight and ease of transition. Now windows 8 is another story!

Against the advice of friends, I bought the Acer Aspire after reading PCMag and other reviews suggesting it as a good replacement for a PC. The laptop arrived, looked ok, powered up but the screen was black. Spent quite some time trying to figure out what went wrong. Was told that it was most likely a failure in the mainframe, battery or power cord all of which would need to be replaced. I was very disappointed but realized that cheap is cheap and opted to return it and get a more expensive competitor (HP Envy) and so far so good. I wouldn't recommend the Acer even if you're just looking for a cheaper option for a child. Unreliable and cheap. I also want to mention that the laptop arrived a day later than promised by Amazon. First time in a long time that happened. All around a bad experience I won't be repeating.

[4 In 1] EasyAcc Portable Wifi Wireless SD Card Reader & USB External HDD / SDD / USB Flash Disk Re

[4 In 1] EasyAcc Portable Wifi Wireless SD Card Reader & USB External HDD / SDD / USB Flash Disk Reader for iPad 4 mini / iPhone 5 4s / Nexus 7 / Samsung galaxy tab and other Smartphone & Tablets, Built-in 8800mah External Battery Pack can Charge your Smartphone and Portable Wifi Router FunctionI was supplied this free to test and review.

Tested using iPad2, a generic Chinese Android tablet and a HP Windows 8 laptop.

I have not seen a gadget before that enables a tablet without expandable storage to have access to almost limitless memory for storage. In addition to this it can act as a wireless router and a backup battery for phones etc.

Out of the box it needs charging and comes with a usb charging lead to connect to your own charger as it charges 4 blue leds progressively light and flash until all 4 are on steadily and it is then fully charged and ready to use.

As the set up seemed quite complicated I followed the fairly comprehensive instructions which were enclosed. After downloading the "FTP Manager" from Google Play and installing it (I used the Android tablet first) I then followed the instructions and was met with the message "Server not Found". It is probably apparent to everyone except me that the server would not be found until I logged on to the Wi-Stor.

The easiest way to set it up initially is to temporary replace your router with this one turn it on and look for EasyAcc_4005DE and log on to it (At this stage it is an open network). Then download the "FTP Manager" and run it to complete the set up. You can then put your router back. If you don't want to do this you have to download the "FTP Manager" on your normal set up and then switch to EasyAcc_4005DE to complete the settings, once you have done this you will not need to do it again.

The next thing I worried about was security as admin and admin are not the most secure names and passwords. The router has quite a range and my neighbour was able to log into it quite easily.

Nothing in the instructions indicate that you can change the security settings, however it is easy, enter the Server Address into the command line of your browser and the home screen opens allowing you to view all the settings and make the changes you want. The most important being to make it secure.

Now it is set up I could use my ipad or android tablet to access a variety of memory devices that are connected to the Wi-Store I tried it with a 32Gb SD card, the maximum it will take, a 64Gb flash drive and a 1TB portable hard drive, all worked perfectly.

This device is a boon if you want to take files that total more than the capacity of the tablet, my little Android tablet is 8Gb with no expansion capability but with this I was able to watch a number of films from the portable HDD.

The other useful thing this does is to work as a back up battery it will supply 5V through a usb socket, to switch the battery on in this mode you need to press the power button for 3 seconds, If you want to know the state of charge press the button briefly and some of the 4 leds will light up one for each 25% of charge.

After playing with this on my tablets I thought I would try it with my laptop. There was no problem whatsoever using it as a wireless router but when I came to transfer files it was more difficult. It is possible to directly transfer using the server address in the command line but it was not the most straightforward way of doing it. I looked for an equivalent of the apps that I used for the Android and iPad although there are many I found that "Free FTP Manager 2.2" worked as well as anything and it is free.

In summary I am not sure if there are any other gadgets like this which allow you to wirelessly expand the memory of tablet devices, share files between tablets, act as a Wireless router and storage battery. It is a very useful addition to anyone who finds the memory in their tablet too limited.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)This is an unusual and multi-faceted device that acts as a wireless router, a power bank, wireless sharing and wireless storage capability. Each one has its own qualities and issues.

The wireless router sets up a network for yourself and up to five other users/partners/devices. Connect the Wi-Fi-routers LAN cord from your wired network to the EasyAcc through the Ethernet port. Set up is typical of any router. The unit has a simple on/off switch on the side for wireless routing with a white symbol that readily appears.

The built-in battery is an 8800mAh Li-Polymer. You can use this for charging Smartphones, Tablets, iPods, iPad, iPhones, etc. via the USB Port. I was able to charge my iPhone 3-1/2 times with one charge. My iPad mini was able to be fully charged once, with about 25% charge left over. The level of charge is set up in (4) four 25% increments. Mine came 50% charged and took about 2 hours to fully charge.

Wireless sharing with this system is great, as you can use it for work or sharing files with friends. It can also be used as a temporary router. I found sharing photos took a few seconds to transfer, but had a lot of difficulty sharing larger files like video files. It just didn't work that well. But, music files were a breeze.

Wi-Fi storage in enabled by inserting an SD Card (max 32gb) into the slot in the side of the device or inserting a Memory Stick (Maximum 64gb) in the slot on the end.

The device only weighs about nine (9) ounces and is 5"X 3" X 1" in size. It's just packed with a lot of options. All of this can be a little daunting if you are not familiar with all these modes. Simply put, you have some great photos on your SD card, by inserting it into the EasyAcc, you can share these with other smartphones, tablets, or on Facebook. When your smartphone or tablet is out of space, instead of deleting any data connect a Flash drive to give yourself instant extra memory. If you are on an airplane or camping where there is no power, you can use the internal battery with its 8800mAh capability for fast recharging. The Wi-stor Wizard can establish a wireless network just by connecting it with a network cable.

When you compare the prices of storage devices, power banks, router and other wireless sharing devices, this little gadget does the trick. Device supplied for an honest review.

Buy [4 In 1] EasyAcc Portable Wifi Wireless SD Card Reader & USB External HDD / SDD / USB Flash Disk Re Now

The Wi-Stor is a jack of all trades, and offers a ton of functionality. If you're looking to reduce the amount of stuff that goes in your laptop bag, travel a lot, or you simply really like tech, this is definitely worth a try! The manufacturer sent me a sample of this device, this review is my honest opinion.

Please excuse the fact that I have written in bullet points there's so much to cover that full sentences would have gotten tiring to read.

SO WHAT CAN IT DO?

Acts as as normal wi-fi router

Charges a portable device's battery with the built-in 5V USB charging port

Add 32GB of hard drive space wirelessly to any device using the SD slot

Acts as a wireless SD card reader (studio photographers take note!)

Add an almost limitless amount of hard drive space wirelessly to any device using the USB port

WHAT I LOVE

The sheer functionality of the thing!

All operations can be run on the internal battery or a USB power cable

That I can add my own hard-drive via USB

Sharing SD photos just got a whole lot easier

Portable router? SO many problems solved

WHAT I WOULD IMPROVE:

Instructions aren't great, if you don't like to tinker this may not be for you

Suggested app is not the most intuitive I think EasyAcc would be wise to hire an app developer

Had some sluggishness with video playback...SD card is rated for 90MB/s and wifi speeds should handle it so I have to assume it's the firmware?

A CF card reader would be SO great, especially for pro photographers who tend to use CF over SD

OVERALL

I took a star off for some polishing that needs done, but this is a solid start to a device with lots of potential. To use an analogy, this is like the Swiss Army Knife of tech gadgets, except the blades of this knife need a little sharpening. With a dedicated app and some firmware improvements for handling large files/video, this would be an easy five stars. For the price, recommended, although for the non technologically-inclined, there may be some frustration in setting the device up.

Read Best Reviews of [4 In 1] EasyAcc Portable Wifi Wireless SD Card Reader & USB External HDD / SDD / USB Flash Disk Re Here

Lately, I have had the opportunity to evaluate several external power banks. I have also reviewed several small wireless N routers that can be used for travel. However, I have never reviewed a product quite like the EASYACC Wi-Stor. It combines a beefy power bank (8800mAh), with a router, AND it has the capability for file sharing across platforms...including iPhones and iPads.

That is not to say that the EASYACC Wi-Stor has completely unlimited capabilities. In a perfect world you could store dozens of movies, thousands of songs, and millions of pictures on an external drive that you could stream to your iPad. While it will work for pictures I have not been able to stream in other types of media to my iPad. This may limit your movie watching ability, but it still is a powerful tool -especially for business. This is a device that will allow you to arrange all of your PDF and Word files onto a disc that can be accessed remotely but multiple parties. POs, invoices, and other documents can be easily filed and pulled up when needed.

Notes -

Features a 8800mAh power bank. This is enough capacity to fully charge an iPad 2 or charge an iPhone 3-4times. It also gives the EASYACC Wi-stor the ability to work as a file server and router without the need of an external power supply. Make sure that you push (and hold) the power button for 3 seconds before trying to charge any device.

Wireless A/G/N supported router. Having a small wireless router is helpful when you travel. You never know when you are going to come across a hotel room that only has free LAN through ethernet cables. With a small router you can broadcast your own wireless signal. Also, the fact that it can be run off of the power bank means that you can use it as a router in the event of a power outages.

The file sharing requires a SD card, external hard drive, or USB jump drive none-of-which are included.

File sharing is not quite perfect it works great for pdf, word, and jpg but I have not been able to transfer a movie from an SD card back to my iPad. Also, I have been unable to transfer anything from my iPad back to the SD card on the EASYACC. I am attributing this mostly to the restrictiveness of Apple and less as a deficiency on the part of EASYACC.

Remember to change the security settings if you re going to store PO's and invoices using the default username and password will likely leave your files vulnerable.

Requires that you download the free version of FTPManager the app is a bit clumsy, and the directions for setting up the router through FTPManager are not exactly correct, but a little common sense will walk you through the set-up

Charges through a 5V 1A USB port I wish that you had the option to plug it into a 110V wall outlet, but I guess this allows it to more of a global device.

Size it is a bit on the heavy side and it is about 30% larger than a deck of cards, in fact it is roughly the size of an iPhone, but weighs about 20% more

Does not come with a case.

Final VerdictThe EASYACC Wi-Stor is one of the better tablet accessories available to businessmen/women. It allows colleagues to wirelessly share files across platforms. This allows PO's or other sales related documents to be available, with near limitless capacity. You will need to work through your security settings, but the EASYACC Wi-stor is a great blend of file sharing, portable router, and file server. Recommended

Belkin G700 PDA Keyboard for Toshiba e330/e335/e740 - Black

Belkin G700 PDA Keyboard for Toshiba e330/e335/e740 - BlackI have found this keyboard to be exellent. At first, I felt it to be rather large, and most certainly not worth carrying around. However, after getting tired of using the various methods of entering information into my Toshiba E355 (including using the USB host adapter and a full keyboard at work), I decided to try carrying it with me. Since then, I have never left it at home. It does work with the e355, although, it is not fully functional. The function and arrow keys do not work, however on my brother's e335 it works fully. I consider this to be an invaluable tool for those who regularly have to enter alot of information into their e330/335/740's. I can say that it is somewhat frustrating that so much of the functionality of the keyboard is lost on the e355, which is essentually a e335 updated. Overall, I can recommend this product to those of us who want a nice compact keyboard to carry on the go.

When on the road this used to be the only way to enter data into my Toshiba. Although a bit small it is very functional and does the trick. I normally have the Toshiba connected to a very small notebook now so this does not see nearly as much use. That said when going small and light, this is the way to go.

I got this portable keyboard to use with my pocket PC. I was on a month long trip and wanted to be able to type notes.

In this regard, it was great. The keyboard folded up to about the same size as my pocket PC, yet when unfolded was a nice-feeling keyboard and reliable for text entry. I literally wrote a book using this keyboard, around 150 pages of notes and impressions from my trip.

I've moved to Windows Phone since I got this keyboard, but if I am in a similar situation and Belkin makes a similar folding keyboard for the Windows phone, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it based on my experience with this one!

iPazzPort Wireless KP-810-16A 2.4Ghz 3 Axial Gyro Fly/Air Mouse Mini Keyboard

iPazzPort Wireless KP-810-16A 2.4Ghz 3 Axial Gyro Fly/Air Mouse Mini KeyboardWhile researching and building my current HTPC I spent a large portion of the time trying to figure out the best way to interact with it. I thought about a small travel sized keyboard with trackpad but most reviews made the trackpads out to be terrible or they were just too big. I thought about a Harmony Remote but I only have maybe two devices I would control with it and I really needed the keyboard. I stumbled across this device during one my many searches. I have to say that I really do like this keyboard and would recommend it to anyone who needs a mouse and keyboard combo for the couch. Now this device is not perfect itself but perfect for what I need it for. The gyro sensor is plenty sensitive, sometimes a bit too sensitive. The only other problem I have is sometimes I don't get a clear connection to the HTPC because of the dongle being in the back of it. A possible increase in the connection between the remote and the dongle and also a sensitivity control for the gyro are the only two things I can think of to really improve this product at the price point. I highly recommend this for almost any HTPC, because really there are not a lot of other options. Oh and I almost forgot, how about a MICRO USB plug and not a MINI, though a cable is included. Just keep your Blackberry cable in case you lose the one that came with it.

Be careful with this item! It is not as described and the pictures are misleading. There are not any buttons on the back side and you can't ".... easily manage those inputs required by internet TV watching as well as web surfing through the Google/Android TV /player/ set top box."

Anyway, the keyboard works and is not too bad.

This product is very good but they still can improve it a little more, I think.

I'm still learning about all its features.

I'm using it with and Android Box for my HDTV.

If you don't want to expend too much, this is a very good option.

poor quality, the product did not work, even though i provided the correct model number for my cell phone. the company said they would re-send another item, but i never received it. so, for the $3+ that this cost me, it was an inexpensive mistake not worth the time or effort for me to try to return it, or get a credit, or to try to contact the company/seller again to rectify the siutation. a very poor experience!

1GB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory Card (Bulk)

1GB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory CardI bought this specifically for use in the MPC 2000xl that I put an Addonics card reader into in place of the old floppy. Works like a charm!

I highly recommend this, but I hear the 2gb card is also a good fit with the Akai MPC2000xl and the current price on it is much less-expensive. So I will be trying it out next.

Lexerd - Garmin Oregon 550t 200 300 400i 400c 400t TrueVue Anti-Glare GPS Screen Protector
  • Ultra Thin
  • Anti-glare
  • Guarantee To Preserve Original Color Tones
  • Heat, Water Resistance, Against Scratches and Shields Damage
  • Not Interfere with Touch screen Technology

Five stars to Lexerd for same day processing and super fast shipping. The dual pack bundle arrived in an envelope labeled DO NOT BEND and contained a bit of foam to keep the envelope out of the mechanical sorting machines used by the USPS.

Each Lexerd kit came complete with the screen protector, two finger condoms, a lint free cloth, and a plastic card by which to press bubbles to the edge of the screen.

Five stars for the screen protector fit. It is spot on for size though not very easy to install. Only the back (device side) of the protector comes with a protective film that you must remove prior to the install. Static attraction between the screen and the protector makes placement tricky. This is the nature of the beast. It's best to approach the install with clean hands and a cup of patience.

Other protectors also have a film on the top side of the protector to protect it from scratches while pressing bubbles to the edges. This protector does not. Be careful to first clean the plastic scraper AND the top side of the protector before you go scraping or else you may scratch that new protector straight off.

After the install, I noticed very quickly that the anti-glare feature is no more anti-glare than the Garmin Oregon screen itself. I'm quite disappointed in this aspect of the Lexerd product because I could have purchased a screen protector for half the price elsewhere that did not list anti-glare as a specific feature. Bummer.

Overall, I recommend the product but would certainly consider alternatives now that I know its shortfalls.

UPDATE: 2013/06 After 17 months of use, the GPS screen came into contact with keys in my pocket. A very deep scratch on the protector concerned me that the screen would also be damaged, but this was not so. I removed the protector to find the GPS screen undamaged by the keys. However, a considerable amount of adhesive residue from the protector was left behind. I have not been able to remove all of this residue with mild soap and water or even considerable rubbing with a cotton cloth. I believe the residue is a result of my GPS receiving a lot of direct sunlight as it is mounted on a motorcycle.

PDair V01 Black Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250

PDair V01 Black Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250Because the product is the best.

Everything I like. There's nothing I do not like the Pdair v01 Galaxy Nexus.

To all those who want a good Leather Case.

This is a well made case. It is constructed of very supple and well padded leather. The stiching is white and contrasts nicely against the black leather. The inside of the case appears to be made of leather as well. The sides are leather, stiched to black elastic material. There is a small, non-removable belt clip on the back of the case that is low profile and doesn't contribute significantly to the girth of the case. It would have been better if the clip was removable, in my view. I personally never use belt clips and find that the fixed variety just adds uneccessary width to a case and makes it more difficult to extract from a pocket.

The case fits my Verizon Galaxy Nexus (standard battery) very well and covers it completely, top to bottom. It is apparent that this case is custom made for the Nexus and is not a "one size fits all" design. The phone is very snug in the case and won't accidently fall out. I found it a bit slow to extract the phone but I expect that the leather will loosen up a bit after some use. Because of the design of the phone, while extracting it from the case, the index finger naturally lands on the on/off/wake up button on the right upper edge of the phone. This is a bit annoying but an inconvenience that I solved by simply inserting the phone top-end first into the case. This has the added benefit of making the phone far easier to extract since the top half of the Nexus is considerably slimmer than the bottom half.

The trouble I find is that the Nexus is a very slippery phone. I have large hands and still don't have confidence that the phone won't fall out of my hands when using it. What would be ideal is a leather case like this one that is also large enough to acomodate the Nexus in a silicone case like the Incipio NGP. Unfortuantely, the leather case is made to operate with a "naked" Nexus. I was able to insert the phone with the Incipio NGP case into this leather case, but it was so snug that insertion was extremely difficult and slow!

I can't say how a phone with the bigger battery would fare in this case. However, I would guess that the case would work OK since the sides are elastic and do give some, and the bigger battery only adds a very small bit to the phone's girth.

I was a little apprehensive about ordering a case from Hong Kong. My concerns were unfounded as it took only 9 days from placing the order to receipt. (I live on the eastern side of the USA.) I didn't expect to see the case until mid February. If you are contemplating the purchase of this case, don't let the seller's location dissuade you.

In all, a nice case that compliments the looks of the phone and provides excellent protection. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the non-removable belt clip and the issue with slow extraction due to the snug fit.

Nokia 6085h ATT Cell Phone

Nokia 6085h ATT Cell PhoneBought this phone used in "mint" condition. My last phone just like this one lasted 4 1/2 years, and I love it. I received it exactly as advertised.. These phones are extinct, but it works and I'm very happy with the performance. I would buy another one when this one fails down the road if it's still available. They quit making them several years ago.

I bought this phone for a relative who has had this phone before and only wanted another one like it! Loved it!

This phone was for my mom and the screen is to small and she can't see the text very well. We have been looking for a phone that she can easily see and so far the only phones out there are smart phones with bigger screens and she only wants a phone that she can talk on and send text not a smart phone. No one seems to make a phone for seniors with ATT. Was not happy with this phone, good for a young teen but not an adult.

Iris USOA400 IRISPen Express 6 Pen Scanner

Iris USOA400 IRISPen Express 6 Pen ScannerI edit a small-town weekly newspaper, and in slow times, I like to have a story regarding some aspect of the town's history ready to go in as filler. So I spend quite a bit of time going through yellowed newspaper archives, and bought this toy to see if I could cut down on my retyping time. The result? Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I find you have to recalibrate every time you start scanning a different newspaper page, and that the scanner works better on pages that still have good contrast, which is to say have not become too yellowed. The good news is that I get about 95 percent accuracy on unyellowed newsprint, so it works for me then; the bad news is that the error rate greatly rises when the contrast drops, so that retyping is still faster on most of the old stuff. But, it should be noted, I'm conducting a Pen Scanner Torture Test; I find it works just fine on better quality paper, such as book and magazines. But always, always, recalibrate first.

The several versions of this product differ in the software offered, the scanning pen, apparently, is the same for all. Iris Express seemed good enough for me since I only wanted to copy information from library books.

Getting useful copy requires a steady hand, a modicum of practice and, above all else, proper settings of the scanner. Operating instructions are both obscure and sketchy, so a beginner should stay with the manufacturer's default settings until some proficiency is gained. It helped, somewhat, to download the instruction file from the ReadIris website when I was ready to create settings of my own. Those instructions are inadequate too, but better than those packaged with the pen.

Once technique is mastered, character recognition is excellent, but the output text is plain, with no formatting whatsoever. That lack is easily corrected by sending the copy to a word processor.

Everything considered, I'm glad I bought the gadget.

I bought this product with some trepidation, as other reviewers' opinions of it were all over the map. When I first started trying to use it, it didn't work at all well. My first few scans (each being one line of text) came out pretty accurate, but after that things just deteriorated fast, until before long all I could ever get was a big string of unrecognized characters, represented by tildes (~). I read the PDF manual, tried various settings, to no avail.

Then I contacted IRIS customer support, and they sent me a list of things to try, three of which actually helped quite a bit, and now I'm scanning along fairly happily.

The last thing they suggested--and the first thing I tried--helped a lot. I clicked File > Reset to Factory Settings. I've had to do that again, after I saw a deterioration in results. So I guess I'll just have to live with the default settings and Reset them every so often. Not a big problem for me, though it would be for some users.

They also said it should take 3-4 seconds to scan a 6-inch line of text. I had been scanning much faster than that. Slowing down helped.

And they said that a wavy scan is a big problem. I have found that by positioning a ruler about 3/4 inch below the line I want to scan works pretty nicely--I just run the scanner along the ruler as a guide, and it eliminates the wavy-line problem. (The thing doesn't seem to be bother if the line of text rises or falls slightly from left to right, provided it's all in a fairly straight line.)

I should mention that I suffer from a slight tremor in my hands, and so it is possible that some of my difficulties would not be experienced by someone with a steadier hand.

Bottom line: You can make this thing work if you stick with it. If, like me, you are constantly needing to scan in fragments of text, you will find it worth the trouble to overcome initial difficulties, should you experience them.

I bought the IRISpen Express in the hope that it would make the endless research projects I have for college a little less time consuming. I always found it tedious and disruptive to have to stop reading to note a phrase or quote for use in a paper. Also, it is time consuming to have to refer back to those little sticky notes when it is time to type up the paper or even to compile the research for review.

The IRISpen makes it much easier to simply sit with a book and read it as usual. When I come across a part that I want to include in a paper or even just keep on my computer for use in a blog or webpage, I simply scan the page number and the passage I want to use. Done. I have blasted through 4 library books today in the time it would have taken to work through a one or two because I dont have to stop reading to type. I set up my laptop next to me and start a heading on OneNote with the book that I am reading. That way all I have to do is scan it like a highlighter when I see something I want.

This little scanner has made life as a student much easier and less time consuming. Im also one of the most organized students now, because all my notes are digital and can easily be searched.

There are, of course, flaws with the pen; it isnt perfect at recognition so it is important to review the text periodically to fix spelling errors. It helps to calibrate it before using it every time, which thankfully takes about 5 seconds. Other than that, I have been very pleased with the IRISpen and I would recommend it to busy students or professionals who have to organize printed material for any sort of publication.

I'd like to set out a review for mac users.

1. I am a law student trying to use the scanner to consolidate information from book to print. The books I use have writing in them, over the words, and lots of highlighting and underlining.

2. I was extremely reticent to buy the pen because of the negative reviews.

3. I am using a Macbook Pro (2010) with the pen.

The bottom line is that the pen really does work when you are using it with written text. Reviews that mention otherwise (I have noticed) are mainly PC users. The pen really is helpful in getting down all of the information you want.

A. Dealing with books (exclusively with typed print)

The pen works wonderfully. It works BEST with a book on a flat surface. (I have only had problems with very thick book in the beginning chapters (where the binding is not flat on the table. It can read over yellow highlighting without a problem. It has a 60-70% success rate with underlined words. It obviously works best with clean text.

B. Mac experience

I have a feelign that the OCR engine for the mac software is somewhat different (though I could be wrong) than the PC version. The far and few between Mac users have seem to have positive experiences.

C. Realistic Expectations

In an ideal world, the pen would work perfectly... of course, it does not. But you can definitely optimize the experience to make it work best for you.

1. Somehow it depends on the light. Insufficient lighting with not allow the text to be read. Too much lighting on the other hand, seems to overwhelm the pen and writing does not get recognized (so don't hold have your friend hold a flashlight above the book... like we did last weekend). Second, the pen can recognize text REALLY quickly. But when it's underlined or highlighted, slow down. I usually do an entire line (flat, good lighting, clean text) in a quarter of a second. And it's 99% always right. I slow down on highlighted text and that seems to work well.

Lastly, I typically run into problems when I try to only get particular words from the page instead of a whole line. this might be due to my beginner level use, though.

Just realize that this technology isn't perfect, but it is pretty good. For the price, it will save you thousands of keystrokes. I just hope this review presents an objective approach that might explain some of the more negative ones. If you find any questions or issues, comment and I'll try my best to address.
