During a custom executive conference room build out, I installed a power/data hub on the meeting room table; a really nice table. This included drilling a 3&3/8" hole in the center of the table. Should have double tested the power/data hub's USB ports to be sure they could power/charge a iPhone or iPad. They couldn't due to the devices needing either a data signal or data line short to allow them to charge.
I considered trying to customize the power/data hub and had many problems to overcome.
I searched on Google many different ways "iPhone will not charge from USB hub" or "iPad charging problems with USB power..." and not a single time did any of the devices of this type show up.
The only reason I knew what to look for is an e-mail received from a vendor highlighting a similar product.
If you need to charge a iOS device and cannot due to similar situation, this is the solution.

We have owned this for over four years and love it. It has a nice screen and the Garmin GPS units are the best. They are EASY to use. I recently updated mine with a lifetime updater program from Garmin for about 75.00. Well worth it. It has never given us any problems...works and looks new. If it every dies I will only buy a Garmin to replace it.

Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS Handheld System with Americas Detailed Street Mapping
I've had mine since middle of August. I'll starte with the issues. In that time I've experienced the glitches mentioned elsewhere, but not enough to give up on it. I had 2 hard resets with data loss (static electricity I now realize), many soft resets with no data loss (mostly when syncing), a few times the speaker noise problem (soft reset fixed), and short battery life when power isn't nearby. That's most of the bad, and most of this is fixed with v2 of the software now available on Garmins downloads site.Since the sw upgrade to v2, no hard or soft resets, no lost communications on syncs anymore. I've loaded many new applets and none of them have given me any problems. Be SURE not to use any that aren't specific for OS5!

the screen is better than anything i've seen, more bright, more resolution, and is worth the tradeoff in battery life
the speed, fast processor to speed autorouting makes it fast for everything else, too
the integration with contacts and calendar for waypoints is very useful, really leverages the PDA/GPS into much more than the sum of its parts, more than what other (separate) packages can
so far it's robust, i've dropped it and still works fine
maps are very good. i took it to europe for 3 weeks of driving, including in italy (even rome), and it was painless with this device. it has every road in the country, like where i live. the system in my brother's car that cost $2K has no roads off the freesay where i live useless. it is truly FREEING to drive along and see all the possible roads you can take around you, updating in real time, if you're like me and like to explore. truly great.
I could go on for a month, I love it that much. So I'll switch to how to overcome it's shortcomings:
get the car kit, period
get a 256 MB SD card, i paid under a hundred, with that, i can put most of california, for most of a US region or to have room for MP3's, get a 512 card.
if you're not using it, cradle it. if you're in the car, put it on the car kit cradle whether using GPS or not. with these habits, i never have problems with battery life. and it charges very quickly, too. the v2 sw puts the default brightness at 50%, which is enough 90% of the time. i use about 30% when inside, and it's still brighter than many other and completely usable. don't enable waas, no satallites anyway and 20 feet is close enough for me, and helps battery. turn off IR receiver. set auto off to 30sec. it's instant on anyway. with these changes, battery life isn't an issue for me.
i got the small sync cable with the travel kit, but the aftermarket sync cables will also charge from the USB so might be better, check it out, targus and belkin, among others.
get a protective case. i got one for a toshiba pocketpc that's leather with belt clip. fits perfectly, and now i don't worry about dropping it
the antenna works best when the FLAT top face is toward the sky, NOT when it's end is pointed at the sky. used this way, it locks under a minute even when moving for me, and never loses when moving after lock unless i'm in a sea of 3+ story buildings.
i got the external antenna, and now i can take it off the car plate to use it and it still keeps the satellites, this is a nice to have but is not very expensive
people have said the maps are worth $100. in reality the autorouting map sets are $300. i know, i bought it for Europe, but i DO NOT REGRET IT.
sometimes it fails to find things that are in the database, but this is rare. r2 sw may have helped but haven't tested yet. there are a few map bugaboos, like a small break in the road that i routes you around, but these are rare.
don't load any apps that don't say OS5 compatible
use screen protectors the ones for Sony Clie NX70's fit perfectly (don't get sony brand, too expensive)
upgrade the OS to v2 immediately
have patience if you've not used a PDA or Palm before, you will get through it. the downloadable PDF manual is very good. there are dedicated sites like palmgear with lots of useful info on getting along with your PDA, as well as software reviews and downloads.
they have posted track log and waypoint conduits now, as well a map loader update. Garmin is seriously supporting this device, don't give up on it.
Bottom line is Garmin has realized the market for these is bigger than the combined market for all of their other products. So I do believe they will support the product, and will come out with even better ones in the future. But bottom line is it works great for me, it was a bargain considering what it does, and I wouldn't wait for an upgrade and have to live without it. It's a great GPS, and with the v2 upgrade, a great PDA. it's definitely the most useful device in my life today, moreso than my computer. i'm the kind of person that never gets lost, but i never leave the house w/o my ique now. it's fun, it's useful, and it makes life easier.
Definitely get the 256 MB expansion card at a minimum and you absolutely need the Auto-Nav travel kit.

The new iQue 3600 from Garmin is truly amazing. For a very attractive price, you get a powerful Palm OS 5-based PDA that sports a screaming 200 MHz Motorola DragonBall MXL ARM 9 processor, 32MB of memory (some of which is reserved for system operations), and a nice 320x480 high-color screen, the highest resolution I've seen on a palmtop. The iQue 3600 weighs in at a little over 5 ounces with the built-in LiIon battery, and it's only slightly bigger than a Zire 71, and feels good in either hand.So you can use it as a fast Palm PDA, but the true beauty of the iQue is its built-in GPS function. When you are out in the open -GPS won't work indoors or in a dense forest since the satellite signal can't get to you -the iQue picks up both GPS and WAAS signals (WAAS is a system that supplements GPS, the way I understand it) and, in less than a minute, tell you your early coordinates. Coupled with a mapping program (a very basic one is included), the iQue will tell you where on earth you are, accurate to about 10 feet! For a first-time GPS user like me, the result simply blows me away. Obviously if you don't travel a lot, or live in a big city like New York, GPS is of very little use. But for the road warrior as well as fancy gadget lover (I'm the latter), this is a must-have.
Both the GPS and the bright, large color screen suck battery juice like a puppy in Houston, so battery is weak on the iQue, about the only gripe one would have about this wonderfully implemented product. With GPS on continuously and screen set to mid-level brightness and running a mapping program off the secure digital card, you'll run out in about an hour! That's not a typo or exaggeration. If you can do without sophisticated map software and turn off backlight, you can probably manage for about 3-4 hours. If you don't use GPS -but you got this really for the GPS, didn't you? -using the Palm part for an hour a day will last you about 3 days with backlight on. Which is not totally bad compared to Pocket PCs, hehehe...
In short, the iQue does exceptionally well what it was designed to do. Granted GPS as a whole can be improved, but Garmin has done an admirable job with a well designed, well made product and the price should tempt every GPS user out there.I don't know how I lived without this unit, well, after I figured it out anyway. I was amazed how the Ique 3600 worked in my car, boat and on my desk, it's even a Palm Pilot too. Now I plan my vacations, not by computer/web maps, but on my Ique 3600. OK, it did take me about 1 hour of fast reading to figure it out well enough to get me to work and back the same day. Now I can navigate at nite and in unfamiliar territory. When I go off-route on purpose or accidentally, it will w/i one block reroute me generally w/o sending me back to the old route and often picks a better route.
The manual is a little sketchy and vague, like no description of the location of the on/off button! But otherwise written so a computer geek would understand. I am still struggling with it.
Garmin has a help line and e-mail which helps too. For example I did not know how to keep my location on the screen without constantly dragging the map with the stylus. Now I just hit the black triangle (lower center) and the map now always shows my location in the center of the screen. Garmin has new software updates for the maps and the Ique system on their web site.
The voice command is the main selling point for me since my wife can't read maps too well, now I have another female voice in my car saying: "In .2 of a mile turn right." Shortly thereafter the female voice says: "In 200 feet turn right." At the same time at the top of the screen, it says: "Turn right on 5th Street." Wow, how do it know?
This device also gives you the time of arrival at your destination, altitude, and many other geeky items we need to know and wish we had know all these years. So far I am just practicing, but next week it's off to unfamiliar Seattle and a fun adventure with my new toy. Oh, it also is programed with restuarants, hotels, etc, not only their locations but their phone numbers as well! Get the extra memory chip, you'll need it and the auto navigator kit for your car/boat. I give it a 5+.

The previous reviews cover most of the bases, but I had to chime in. I bought mine from Amazon and just finished a drive across the country with it. The unit is not perfect, but I just love the look-and-feel and the dashboard mount, and the GPS functions are hugely more useful than I ever imagined...even if I know where I'm going. We needed a couple of resets here and there, found a few instances of old or missing map data, found some undocumented clumsiness in the interface, had to buy an SD card to store the maps, mysteriously lost voice navigation for awhile, and a few other minor annoyances. But it is immediately apparent that GPS handheld computers are the future, and this product is a killer if Garmin keeps working on the software and maps. This is my first use of a GPS, and I have my own wish list:Add a plug-in interface so third parties can integrate patches and useful info (e.g., restaurant ratings, road construction points, route descriptions) with the maps.
Find points of interest along my route, not just near my current location or destination.
Show distances to selected locations by the shortest route, not as the crow flies (very dangerous for estimating when you need to get gas).
I could go on. But for a first-generation product, the ique is awesome. Garmin is serious, and it will only get better from here, especially if they take the critical steps to create a competitive market for map patches and extensions. The maps are the weak link, since the US does not yet have the full infrastructure needed to maintain accurate maps in a timely fashion (e.g., as roads are built and businesses come and go).

Unfortunately, it did not fit my Nook. I have a color nook and the cover only fits on the black and white. Perhaps that was in the fine print somewhere, but I did not see it or know it. So it was a totally wasted $20. for me. It was not worth the time and money to return it. It IS pretty and does feel nice, but I was disappointed.

Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet With USB
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've got everything from dollar store "surge protectors" up to 2200 VA UPS systems at my house, and just about everything in between. So, I've got lots of devices to compare this to.If I don't pay any attention to the price, this is hands down, the nicest surge protector I've used. The build quality is excellent. It feels substantial, and... well... expensive. The number and placement of outlets make it very convenient to use a mix of "normal" plugs and "wall worts", though I'd be apprehensive about loading all 12 outlets. (And really, I think the PowerSquid is best for dealing with plugs of different sizes.) The powered USB ports are a great idea, and really add to the surge protector's versatility. The cord wrap, on the other hand, is kind of gimmicky. There's enough space to wrap one cord on it, possibly two.
With that in mind, I could easily give this four stars.
But... at the current price, you're not very far off from the APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 550VA 120V. Sure, you lose four outlets, but you gain a UPS and line conditioning for voltage drops (remember: voltage drops can be as damaging to your equipment as voltage surges). And you lose the USB charging ports, but for less than the cost of a Frappuccino, you can buy a USB/AC adapter.
Going back and forth between the two, I'm hard pressed to think of need-specific reason for buying this over the APC UPS, unless space is a major concern.
The Belkin Surge Protector 12 Outlet with USB is a very nice design for a surge protector. It offer you plenty of options for power and 3000 joules of protection in case of electrical surges.
A few notes -
The two USB ports are ideal for charging iPhones, Blackberries and other small devices. This is nice because you can leave your power adapters in your briefcase and use USBs to charge your small electronics.
I really like the layout of the various outlets this design allows you to have access to most of the outlets. While it still will be difficult to use all 12 outlets you will be able to use 8-10 without much problem.
Lots of protection and up to $250,000 worth of protection if you do have devices damaged while using this surge protector.
Nice sleek profile and despite having 12 outlets it would not be difficult to mount to the wall.
Final verdict This isn't the perfect surge protector for all of your applications such as providing extra outlets for your christmas lights but it is ideal for your home entertainment center or as part of an electronics valet on your night stand.

I love Belkin's product for its function, design, and insurance that they provide. BUT, this one had the same problem as other surge protectors that I bought in the past. Few closed outlets that you can't plug in. This time, it's "only" 2 that I can't use. The last similar one that I purchased had 4, which I exchanged directly through Belkin twice, but ended up with still one defective outlet. At that point I gave up on exchanging. Otherwise, this surge protector is great with 2 USB ports, and the very high amount of liability coverage. Design is awesome and the love the color too. If you have too many bulky power cord to use, then I would recommend Belkin's other pivot type surge protectors. Anyway, since I only have 2 dead outlets, I'll just go ahead to keep it as is, but to let you know, Belkin exchange the defective unit for free, but you'll have to pay shipping to send in for the replacement. I bought this around September of last year. Nice product, has plenty of space, good number of outlets and was really enjoying it. So about 1 month later I go to use the USB plug and when I plug something in it makes a low volume, high pitch screech. I play around with plugging and unplugging various devices and even change the outlet. I contact Belkin and they tell me that no it isn't supposed to do that and say that if I ship it back to them(I pay for shipping) then they will replace it. It is ludicrous that I should have to pay for return shipping for a product that is damaged from the first time I use it. I never contacted Amazon because by that time it was already out of their return window because I waited to install it and then waited longer to use it.I still use it, just not with the USB because with the screeching sound I think it's wired poorly and could start a fire but I haven't opened it up so I'm not sure. I normally buy a lot of Belkin products, but this was very disappointing.

Having said that, this 1500 mAh battery upgrade easily tripled my iQue 3600 running time. Comes with torx and phillips screw dtrivers and instructions how to take iQue 3600 apart.It was great that product came with a torx screwdriver, saved me trouble going out to buy one. Gave my creaky old ique 3600 a new lease on life. Used for 2 days so far (&2 charges), no problems to report yet.Let me address the one really bad review. I got the video with bolero playing and found it quite helpful, even though I'd done this before and had written instructions by the original hacker who figured out how to replace the battery. So, I have a bit of knowledge.
The leather cover comes out by pinching inward on each side the black plastic bar at the bottom. There are 2 plastic hooks that point outward on each side. Most people don't use that I guess.
The other issue is that the left side rocker switch has to be carefully left in place, so you have to actually pull the motherboard to the right side of the case to free the rocker switch. I forgot about that too (I've replaced mine a few times, but each lasts about 2 years so I forget how). Then there's the little ir red cap at the top, it has 2 little nipples so you can see (need some magnification) how to put that back in.
I actually dislodged the rocker switch and the spring flew out. At least I didn't break anything. In case you do that too: There's 3 parts, the plastic frame that with tweezers and 2 hands you can put that spring back in by holding one side in with your finger and using the tweezers to depress the spring and put back in the other side. There's 2 little plastic retainers on either side for the spring. The circle part of the spring fits over a round pluglike piece of plastic. Then put the plastic back on the board, and the metal retainer fits back on top. Then try to be real careful when putting the board back in, put the rocker switch back in first, with the motherboard on an angle, then lower the right side of the mother board. Better yet, don't dislodge the rocker switch.
The other item is the power switch. Use some black electrical tape on the outside to keep it from falling out when you remove the case. No biggie if it does fall out, it goes back in easy. But you will be putting the case on with the main unit with motherboard on the bottom, so the switch can fall out as you place the top case back on the main board. They show you doing it sort of sideways, but then the ir red plastic tends to fall out that way.
My problem was that the bottom set of buttons had dislodged and when I put it all back together, the buttons were being pushed all the time. I removed the case again and saw how they snap into little holes.
Then there was a small cylinder rubber thing that wasn't in the video, but I'm hoping it's a newer rev that covers some metal cap at the top. It fell out too, and seemed to fit over that. Seems like I got that right.
And since I have 2 iques where my other's gps internal antenna broke long ago (but useful as a pda and I have an external antenna too), I figured I might want to swap the backs since my working unit that I replaced the battery for was cracked and swollen. Funny thing, I didn't remember dropping it.
Turns out the last battery I replaced was wrapped in air tight plastic and must have leaked or generated some sort of gas since it was like a blown up balloon. And THIS was enough pressure to crack the back of my ique. I took this old battery outside and carefully pin pricked it, and sure enough, some gas escaped and the battery shrunk down to its original size. I sure hope this new battery doesn't do this too. Anyway, with the new battery, the case reformed itself, although there's still the crack down the back. But all is working. I'm now going to buy another one for a spare or maybe replace the one in my spare unit.
Only after I installed everything did I discover that I hadn't seen the written instructions that came with this. On reading, they do seem pretty well written, but I still recommend the video.
Hope this tail helps someone else with this still great pda / gps device.My Ique3600's battery was pretty much dead, and so I bought this battery as a replacement. It came with all the required tools, and a decent set of directions.
A warning to those doing this replacement: Remember to back up your Ique information before starting. I forgot, and lost all my address information from since my last synchronization. It might have been nice if they had included that in the 1st line of the directions, but it's really my own fault for not thinking that through.
The installation directions were otherwise very good, and included specific mention of how to twist things to get them apart. It wasn't trivial, but wasn't really that hard either, and it came apart and went back together just as they said. The only thing different for me was that they said to put the battery "label up" with the wire in the "bottom left", but on my battery "labelup" put the wire in the top left -which still reached the plug OK.
Others said their battery level indicator didn't work after doing this. I think mine DOES work, at least when I started it said about 50%, and after charging it said 100%. I guess I'll have to run it down and see if it gives me a good result. In the meantime, I used the Ique at church (it has my bible on it), and in 30 minutes according to the battery level indicator I hardly dented this battery, even with my screen at nearly full brightness (with the dead battery I had to work with the lowest brightness; full brightness would shut the machine down immediately).

Maybe it is the nook's capacitive screen but this stylus works as best 75% of the time to press a button or make a simple selection. If you want to drag something with it, it rarely works at all. What were the other reviewers using their styli for? If you want to scratch yourself or pick your nose, they all are pretty much the same but this doesn't work very well as a stylus. Just as a basis for comparison, I tried this stylus on my iPhone and it squeaks but works very nicely. No go on the Nook Color. Very disappointing since it is sold as a stylus for the nook color. Oh, and just to make sure there wasn't a problem with my nook, i tried it on my wife's Nook Color, too just the make sure. Same results. To be clear, if all you want to do is click on things with your gloves on, this will probably do the job most of the time. But for anything else, frustrating.

As we get older our fingers have less sensitivity at the tops. You sometimes end up hitting the wrong keys. The r00CASE Capacitive Stylus takes the stress out of the selection process. When used with the intended device with all plugs plugged in this cable works correctly afaict. When used just for power it doesn't always provide power. When used as a USB cable it has failed to work with other devices. Finally when used to charge another device using the USB plugs it burned out all my work comupter's USB ports.Use this product carefully and only for its intended purpose.
The reason I write this review is, however, the wonderful customer support I received from BoxWave. I bought this device from Amazon and posted it to a friend in USA since I am in Turkey. She brought me the device, but I saw that the device was not charging sometimes.
I immediately wrote to BoxWave, asking for what could be the reason for this and if I could fix it. I didn't offer to send it back or that it be replaced, since I am in Turkey and didn't want to bother with shipping it back.
The reply was very kind, telling that they would replace the device, and since I was in Turkey, they didn't want me to post the defective unit back.
They sent me a brand new device, free of charge, with free shipping, from USA to Turkey! I am very pleased by this attitude of this company, BoxWave.
(I also own a screen protector and a case made by BoxWave, and I recommend them too, especially the screen protector. I have never used my N800 without a screen protector, but I have read that it was not readable under sunlight.I can read mine everywhere thanks to the screen protector.)

The power connector was flakey when I received it. I have to wiggle it to get it to connect and then tape it to the desk so that it doesn't move else it quits providing power. Nice case, snug well designed case and outer rubber bumper. However......The puck type mount fits so tight into the case I had to use a jar opener to get it off. I ended up having to take it apart (2 T-10 torx head screws) and sand down the pads on the puck that lock into the case...took a couple of tries to get it right, but it doesn't take a tool to get the ipad off the mounting base...
Issue number two...they provide a nice thick screen protector, clear and smooth...but...like so many screen protectors, they don't take into consideration the case, so when you slide the two parts of the case on it peels up the sides of the protector, and with this one, it even peels up both ends...you would think their own protector wouldn't do that, but, such is the nature of design flaws.
Update. I use my mini iPad as most folks use an iPod for. Problem was mounting it in the car. Everything I tried before this was a pain getting the iPad in and out of and covered controls on the dash. The sticky backed puck mounting base that was such and issue before was mounted to an old flex neck cup holder mount I has laying around and modified to accept the puck base. Now the iPad slides easily in and out of the car, is out of the way, and, I can mount the iPod either vertically or horizontally at will. It is so convenient now, I bought a Dual external Bluetooth GPS and the TOMTOM GPS app, and use my iPod mini as both my music box through my cars stereo and my GPS unit...gotta love that!!
