Gateway SX2370-UR12 Desktop (Black)

I have purchased many small foot print PC's especially from HP (aka slimline models). I even contacted HP for a small footprint quad core PC. The price difference between the HP and Gateway SX model was night and day different. This SX Gateway has such a small foot print and lot's of power with the quad core and 7200 rpm 1 TB drive. Keep in mind exactly what this PC is which is a small foot print PC with all the bells and whistles that a office or home office user will need. Notice the Amazon price it was too good a deal to pass up. Do your own compare with HP, DELL and etc, and you will find the Gateway SX model is excellent price performer.

I'd surely give this unit 5 stars, but, I absolutely hate Windows 8. Gateway, however has built a great, compact computer that far exceeds my needs. I'm retired, and use it for Skype, entertainment, news, business, and generally to stay in touch with friends and family in the States.

As I am not a technical guy, I will defer to one of those buyers who have the knowledge, and tech background.

One more time though,....8 sucks!

I obtained this computer at another outlet but wanted to say how happy I am with it. I am very "space challenged" relegated to a small corner of my wifes' sewing room. This smaller case fits nicely in a little niche. This is my 1st experience with Windows 8 and I find it a lot different from 7 but very usable. I am not a computer nerd but was able to catch on quickly to all the new options offered. This computer has plenty of speed, power and memory. My last computer hard drive was failing but managed to save most of my files and transfer them to this computer easily. Had about 3000 pictures to move around. I also have a Seagate external file saver, so don't think I will ever have memory problems.

Very nice leather case, very classic, fits the W810 I bought it for very well. Its one of the few where you can actually put the phone inside the case with the earphones connected, a must if you intend to use the phone as an MP3 player.

However, beware of slips. While fastened to the belt, it tends to slip and fall off the belt. Mine did after 3 weeks of usage, fortunately WITHOUT the phone inside, so I lost the case but saved the phone. A friend of mine had the same luck, but with the phone inside. Not a good fate for such a nice phone.

I bought the 4 pack of the MyGear "Clear" Protectors for Kindle Fire, and split the cost among three friends and me. We are all happy with it. The protector cover was nearly precisely the size of the screen. Definitely made the screen shine and the protector is crystal clear and beautiful on the Kindle Fire. However, the instruction was not very clear because the drawings were not clear. The instruction sheet looked like it was a copy of a copy of a copy. Yet, the product itself is very nice if you apply it correctly. Luckily, I had prior experience with screen protectors that I knew what I was doing.

Before you start, take a semi-wet towel to wipe off any grease and dirt from the screen, and then tear off a piece of newspaper to wipe the screen dry (keep wiping until it is dry and clean). Newspaper is the best material for cleaning glass when it is wet. Look at your screen to make sure your screen is crystal clear before applying the protector to the screen.

You have to know that each screen protector has two plastic covers protecting it, one on each side of the protector. The nice thing was that each plastic cover had a peeler labeled "step 1" (one side of the protector--that's meant to stick to the screen) and "step 2" (other side of the protector). The labels made it easier to peel the covers off as you are applying the protector to your Kindle screen. However, they should recommend that you have a credit card handy as you will need it to help flatten the protector as you are applying it to the screen. You have to use your credit card to continuously scrape out the bubbles as more of the protector is sticking to the screen (from step 1). Be prepared to take your time during the application. If done incorrectly, you will always have a bubble that will never go away. Also, make sure you positioned the protector correctly to the shape of your screen at the very beginning of laying down the protector.

If done correctly, the screen will look beautiful with this "clear" protector. My protector was so nice that it looked like it is the screen itself. If you use a stylus for your touch screen, then definitely get this protector. If you use your fingers, this screen protector makes it easy for you to use a wet towel to wipe clean the protector without damaging the screen. The oils of your fingers over time can damage your screen, as well as constantly wiping your screen with towels. So, a screen protector is a necessary item to get in order to protect your valuable device. This protector is nicer than others because it has a strong stick, unlike others I have used that slides around. This screen protector does not slide around even when I press down hard with my stylus and swiping across the screen while playing Scramble. This protector sticks strongly on the screen.

This was a very good deal on a very good product. I was very pleased with the speed of delivery, and the screen protectors were really easy to apply-no bubbles! This is an excellent product, and while I can't say how durable they are yet, I'm pretty sure they will hold up. The anti-fingerprint feature is great, and it also reduces glare from the screen. I highly recommend this product.

First off the instructions are only a little help. I found nothing that said which two were for glare protection and which two were just screen protectors. I had to hold them up to a light to see the difference and guessed the more clear ones were just screen protectors. They did include a cleaning cloth which was a nice touch. The tool to smooth it out was a joke but I just used a thin plastic card and it worked very well. I did get a bubble on top near the corner but I think that I may have stepped a bit off the screen. Two small bubbles were easily removed with the plastic card that I used as I pulled the protective plastic away.

If these last as long as the ones I have used on my cell phone that gets lots of use I am sure that I am good for the life of the fire. I guess I rated them down because the instructions had no mention of which two protectors were clear or anti glare and for bothering to put that ridiculous squeegee in. I did not go to the web site where there might be a video but figured that it really should be an easy application that did not require time studying a video.

They were precisely cut so my one problem with an air bubble was my fault buy starting just off the screen. It is barely perceptible how short it is on the other end so I really should have used more care and better lighting to apply the screen.

Sticks great and fully adjustable. Charge cord plugs into cradle instead of phone nice feature. Easy in and out. Not a big deal for most people, but no way to mount and use camera at the same time. Cradle is always in view through camera lense.

I was disappointed that when I got this it would not allow me to use any kind of protective phone case with it, but so loved the navigation program that I was willing to make it work. Unfortunately the navigation program only works randomly....and rarely when I really need it to work! It's possible to use it with another navigation program, and the suction holds strong to the window so no risk of the phone dropping. But it really ends up just being a fancy phone charger most of the time. I emailed the company multiple times and never once got a response. Now it is too late to return it:( I would have returned it for another if I had known. But that said, I am happy with how it hold strong and that it will charge my phone while I use a different navigation program. Too bad iGrip doesn't care enough to respond to it's customers! Only order this if you are willing to do without a protective phone case, have another favorite navigation program and only need a fancy phone charger.

This was the second time I bought this same mount for my Thunderbolt. On both, the Micro USB port stopped allowing me to charge my phone after just a few weeks. On the first one I thought that I may have put too much stress on the port by using the Verizon charger which has a short curly cord, so I bought a longer cord for the second one but had the same issue. I have since taken out the old ports and cut a hole so I could pass the charger directly through the dock and into my phone.

Not really important to me but it may be for some, I was never able to get my Thunderbolt to switch into car mode with the second dock, the first dock only switched about 20% of the time.

Two stars because it does a good job of holding my phone, which was half the reason I bought it.

If you're considering other options, buy this one. It is awesome. The window mount holds super tight. It doesn't wiggle or fall off or anything. You can put the phone into the mount with one hand and take it out just as easy. It also triggers the phone into car mode when you put it in. It's a whole different layout of buttons and such on the screen that makes it useful when driving.. The only downside I see is that you can't use the extended battery with this, but I couldn't find anything that did let you use the battery anyway.. The charger connects into the back of the mount so it's much easier than fooling around with pluging it in. I was really surprised how good this thing is put together.

I have a thin silicone skin on my new Razr Maxx HD and this case is a perfect fit for the Razr with the skin on it (or without the skin it is fine too). The quality of this item seems to be good, but I know that velcro used over and over will eventually wear out. For this reason, I am ordering a spare case for the future. Olympus ME-52W Noise Canceling Microphone

My first reaction to this microphone was astonishment at is its small size. It's larger than most lapel microphones, but that's because of the physical requirements for noise-cancellation. Still, it's very small, especially for a true "cardioid" (noise-cancelling) microphone.

The performance is superb! As Jim wrote, it is very sensitive. I tested it in a quiet room at distances up to 10 feet away. At about 3 feet, my voice was strong and clear. At 10 feet, it was obviously remote, but the sound was good and very clear, with no echo. Off-axis, the sensitivity drops rapidly. At about 70 degrees, the sound weakens noticeably, and beyond 90 degrees, it is almost inaudible.

M. L. Strickland is correct in warning that the microphone requires external power. The instructions on the box specify 1.5 10 volts. Writers who reported that the microphone was very weak were almost certainly using a recorder that does not provide the necessary excitation voltage. This energizer voltage draws negligible power from the recorder's batteries.

However, he is wrong when he writes, '... the noise "cancelation" is only provided by a directional shield. True cancellation is obtained by using a stereo mike with the two pickups wired to cancel noise that arrives at both equally.'

Noise-cancelling microphones have existed almost from the start, long before stereo ever existed. The close-up photo on this page clearly shows a slot ("port") in the side of the microphone's body. There is another on the other side. These ports channel sound to the back of the transducer (the sound-sensitive element) so that it is 180 degrees out of phase with the sound striking the front. These opposing signals cancel each other acoustically, but there is always some sound "leakage" through the case and because of imperfect cancellation, resulting in a weak output.

This microphone is intended for recording sounds at a distance, which is the purpose of all cardioid (unidirectional) microphones. Its output level is higher than on most microphones, so there is a possibility of distortion, especially if the sound source (such as the speaker) is too close. For a normal voice, I suggest it be held 8 to 12 inches from the speaker's mouth.

This microphone was bought to be used on an Olympus DS-330, a six-year-old monophonic digital voice recorder. The internal microphone is sensitive and effective, but because it is omni-directional, recordings in a noisy environment, or at a distance from the speaker, are unclear. The ME-52W mic worked equally well in the "Dictation" (low-sensitivity) and "Conference" (high-sensitivy) modes, but the "Dictation" mode is preferable. It's almost identical in sensitivity to the "Conference" mode, and omits residual background noise, such as radios and air conditioners.

With a rated frequency range of 100 15,000 Hz, and depending on your equipment, the ME-52W makes excellent voice recordings, and respectable, but not perfect, music recordings. It essentially eliminates echoes, and strongly reduces background sounds. If it's compatible with your equipment, it should be a winner.

Several inquiries regarding the use of this microphone on stereo recorders prompt me to add this comment.

This microphone is monophonic, and two-channel recording from this mic requires one of two conditions:

1: The recorder has a "mono-input" or "mono-recording" mode, which delivers the signal from the microphone to both recording channels,

or

2. A mono-to-stereo adaptor must be used. These adaptors are available at Radio Shack stores, and usually in the electronics departments of Wal-Mart and Best Buy stores. The "plug" end of the adaptor will have two contacts: the tip, and a "ring" below it. The plug on this microphone has only the tip contact. These adaptors usually cost about $2 to $3.

Stereo hand-held recorders have become very popular, but most of the less-expensive models do not have cardioid microphones. A couple of notable exceptions:

Both recorders cost about $100.

When searching for stereo recorders, be sure to look for "cardioid" or "uni-directional" in the descriptions of the microphones

This microphone will not work with the iPad, iPhone, or iPod, as many users have discovered, for two reasons:

1: The jacks on these devices are non-standard

2: The microphone requires power from the device to which it is connected.

While browsing through the comments today, I came across a reference which I immediately checked out, and I learned that these Apple devices do have excitation power available for external electret microphones, but a special adaptor is needed to access the power connection. One supplier of such adaptors is Their web-site describes the configuration of the jacks in the Apple devices, and lists a number of adaptors and cables to connect unpowered electret microphones, such as this Olympus ME-52W, to them.

For a cheapo microphone, I was pleasantly surpised with how well this worked at picking up speakers who were a distance away. You may have to adjust the sensitivity of the recorder, because the sensitivity of this mic is significantly higher than the built-in stereo mic, and recording to 'hot' will result in garbled, distorted sound.

The Olympus recorders seem to select sensitivity with labels like 'dictate' and 'conference', where 'conference' would normally be used in a distant recording situation but if the record bar hits the right side of the screen you want to set it to the lower sensitivity mode 'dictate'. In any case, with this (mono) mic you should change your recording mode to Mono so you can get double the record time.

I did an interview in a noisy restaurant and put the recorder on the table with the mic pointed straight up. The mic picked up both voices very well and cut down the background noise by at least 70%. The interview would have been impossible otherwise.

For this review we are in my office with many ambient noises: office banter, HVAC fan, etc. There are 8 voice tests after the video review. "Shotgun" style: 2 camcorder, 2 voice recorder. Lapel style: 2 camcorder, 2 voice recorder. Per recording device, the sensitivity levels are changed (high/normal and low).

The mic performs best when paired with a voice recorder and placed on the subject. It works as a "shotgun" mic using a camcorder on its normal microphone sensitivity, keeping the microphone at least a foot away. But it's very sensitive on a camcorder. Listen for the HVAC fan, especially.

PROS:

Good value for money.

Small, like most lavalier mics.

Works well with voice recorder.

Removes ambient noises.

Can be used as shotgun-type mic.

CONS:

Alligator clip is big.

Audio level relatively loud on camcorder.

Omits mono-to-stereo adapter (included with similar Olympus product)

FYI: The audio for the first portion of the review was taped using a digital voice recorder with its on-board mic, not the product because I wanted to handle it while doing the review.

Sony Clie PEG-SJ22 Handheld

The major pro's are,

1. Average price and still good build quality.

2. Looks good, small size, light weight and a very nice flip cover included.

3. Jog dial, 15MB RAM and memory stick expansion slot.

4. HiRes color display and very good backlight.

5. 7 hrs of battery life on a single charge with backlight on all the time.

6. Runs Palm OS 4 which has zillion free apps available and is very easy to use unlike Windows based PDA's.

Con's,

1. The color LCD isn't put to much use in Palm OS 4.

2. No other fun stuff like mp3.

3. Uses a Lithium Ion battery and Sony sells no replacements for it. Might be an issue in 18 months time.

4. No documents-to-go like in previous SJ's.

5. Soon to be discontinued and replaced by a newer model by Sony.

In short if you can wait for till Sept/Oct a lot many new PDA's should come out with Palm OS 5 and better features at same price point. SJ20 is better option since its below hundred after rebate now and there's harldy any difference between SJ20 & SJ22.

I just got my SJ22 this weekend and so far I really like it. The screen is fantastic better than my husband's Toshiba Pocket PC, which cost more than my Clie. Its really small (fits very nicely into a woman's purse) and with the addition of the memory stick feature, I don't have to worry about running out of space if I load a bunch of software. I was told that I can get a cable to connect it to my cellphone to do web browsing, but I haven't tried that yet. I also sync with Outlook and haven't had any problems. However, I already had a Handspring Visor setup, so the installation process was simplified (I'm using Chapura to sync with Outlook, which is what came with my Handspring). My only concern is the possibility of losing the memory card. There's no lock you just press the card to release it. I'd recommend getting a case the fully encases the PDA to guard against bumping the memory card and losing it.

My Clie is the first PDA I've owned, and I've had it for about 2 months now (I bought it on eBay for a nice, cheap price after using Amazon's rating system to decide which PDA I wanted). It was definitely a good purchase, especially if you're looking for basic PDA use. I keep track of everything in it, and have been much more productive as a result.

It is easy to use, and the screen is clear. Battery life seems to be pretty decent, especially when the backlight is not turned up too high. Even on low backlighting the screen is easy to see.

I have downloaded a few programs to it, as well as some books/Bibles. Once you figure out the downloading system, everything flows together pretty smoothly.

I bought a keyboard to go with it. That didn't turn out too well. Amazon matched the wrong keyboard to this Clie, so be careful when buying a keyboard. Make sure that the model you're buying (even if it says "for Sony Clie") actually matches the Clie you have. Amazon doesn't always match things correctly. But I'll be buying another one, which will be useful when I go to graduate school this fall.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this product. I've had to do a couple of hard resets, but I didn't lose anything at all. I don't know whether that's just "beginner's luck" or what. Anyway, this Clie has become my brain. I know where to be and when because of this thing, and I love my brain.

I wish I'd read all of the reviews before buying this model. Even though the screen is very nice and the memory is enough for almost all applications, Intellisync Lite is no longer included, nor is Documents 2 Go. These are deal breakers for many people who need to perform syncing with their Outlook Calendar or to work with Office documents/spreadsheets.

Without Intellisync, you will be able to sync with Outlook for mail only. The main reason I need the PDA is for my calendar and the SJ22 wouldn't sync for this part of Outlook. It's inconceivable to me and my IT friends that this program is no longer included. So buyer beware on this point.

They are more up-front about Docs 2 Go not being included. While not essential (and there are other, better programs available), this software (as is Intellisync lite) does come with the SJ20 model (the B&W version).

I guess to meet this price point, some software had to be sacrificed. I just wish some of the less essential software was "missing" instead. I suggest looking at the SJ30 instead, or the SJ20 if you don't need/want color.

Nothing feels as solid as this, the others have broken or stretched too much. The case has a layer of foam on the back and front to hold it snug under the metal. the only downside is the hinge sticks out on the right side and snags on my pocket. it comes with a belt clip attachment that I have not used (the peg is optional too). if you are trying to decide between different styles, get this one, save your money from the "cheaper" ones and you wont be sorry.

I own a Samsung Vibrant and have looked at T-Mobile stores, @ tmobile.com, Bestbuy, and other chain stores, trying to find an excerise arm band. It was quite frustrating because everything in the stores were made for Apple brand products. I have used this armband regularly for about four weeks and have been pleased with it. It stays in place, is breathable, and the sleeve is big enough that I can leave my phone in rubber protective cover and it still fits appropriately in the armband. I would definately recommend this product and the price is reasoanble.

I use to run but at times it does not stay in position. When that happens I just make the band tighter. But its still good for working out.

Well, guess what... all of these great ideas that pop in your head of what you can do with this card... toss them out the window. The product is so inpractical, that I can honestly say that I've only used it ONCE. Not only do you need to carry around a cat 5 cable around whereever you go, but you also have to lug around that tether thing that's attached to the card. Ugh. It turned my sleek and sexy jornada into a clunker.

I can't actually think of a real-world situation where I would use my jornada instead of a real computer that I had at my disposal (i'm assuming that where there is an ethernet port there are also computers available).

Just maybe, if this were priced around 20-30 bucks, i'd get it, but that probably isn't going to happen anytime in the near future.

As an ending note, I usually never write negative reviews, but this is one of those that I had to write because I didn't want people to get suckered in like I did.

I'm in the military, and they won't let me sync my PocketPC to a computer since it wasn't issued to me. My only option to download books and software is to actually login with my user account. Wireless access would be bad for opsec, so being tethered to a cat5 cable is the only real way to get access.

HP Ipaq RX1900 Standard Battery

Bought it for my ipaq rx1955.

works just as expected.

it is 1100mAh.

it is basicly identical to the origional battery came with the pda.

I received a different battery, the one in the picture has 4 terminals (like the original battery in my iPAQ 1915) but the one I received is a 6-terminals battery. After several attempts, battery charge is not detected by iPAQ. The iPAQ works but always reports that the battery doesn't have a charge and it should be replaced, the battery-charge indicator bar shows zero charge, and the iPAQ doesn't charge the battery. For my testings the battery was charged externally. The battery received is not the right one.

Handspring Stylus 2-Pack for Visor Edge

After using a damaged, but serviceable, stylus for several years, I finally ordered this replacement. The two items arrived promptly and the vender even included a pen stylus, as well. That, along with a new cover, restored the Visor to original condition. Unfortunately, after about 13 years, the PDA finally died last month. It was a great product.
