When attempting to insert my Toshiba Excite 10 into the case, the side straps covered the volume buttons and interfered with other buttons on the tablet. The case was unusable and I intend to return it. Very disappointing.

HP Slim Keyboard Expansion Pack for iPAQ 3800, 3900, 4100, 5100, 5400, 5500 Series

Keyboard is well designed and fits solidly to Ipaq. Keys are well defined and provide positive feedback when pressed. A see-through plastic cover like the one that comes with the basic unit is attached to the keyboard and serves to protect the screen if the unit is in your pocket or briefcase. Overall good ergonomics for the hardware.

I'd like to say I leave the slim keyboard attached all the time and use it regularly, but I don't because it doesn't deliver in performance. The software is buggy and conflicts with other programs. Sometimes it works fine, other times it types random characters other times it doesn't type at all. Despite HP's updates to the driver, it is still buggy, so it sits in a drawer until HP releases another update, then I'll try it again. I also have the HP folding keyboard which I use regularly without any problems, so I have to conclude it is a problem with the slim keyboard. Attempts to bring the problems to the attention of HP resulted in no reply to my emails.

It works well after I spent time working with HP customer service. Here is what happened:

I bought the slim keyboard (let's call it "s1") here at Amazon. When I insert my IPAQ 5555 the first time after following instructions to upload softwares...etc. Nothing worked. Hitting the keys did not put any letters in the test area. When I set the whole contraption on the cradle, I can see it is connected. Light came on. My desk top wouldn't recognize the device at all. What happened was the s1 and my ipaq didn't fit perfectly. You can't just push it in. You have to push it forward (with fingers on battery side) as you slide it down to get to hearing a "click" as it is described in the manual. (I found this tip from searching the net). Even so, the contacts were not flush with each other.

I called HP service (they are great). They shipped me a replacement right away. I got it in 2 days. Let's call the 2nd one "s2". Apparently the s1 from Amazon was from an older batch. s2 fits easily and much better. Still, nothing worked. IPAQ won't sync with s2 attached via the cradle.

Called HP and they told me that the slim keyboard was developed for early IPAQ models while 5555 was newly added. They also pointed out that there were firmware and software updates for my 5555 at the HP download sites. One of the firmwares is a bios update. I thought "Oh, Great!", I was going to screw up everything now updating the bios myself. I didn't have much luck updating bios on my desktop before. So I backed up my files. Get all the extra software I loaded ready so I can reload everything afterwards. Updating bios will erase everything and restore to factory defaults. Well I did it and s2 worked beautifully. I sent my s1 back to HP.

Then I noticed the s2 has some foreign characters on the alternate keys (those that you get to with hitting the "function" key first). It looks like that the keyboard is built for a different country. So, I called HP again. They sent me another replacement keyboard (s3). I sent back s2.

Well, s3 has the "z" and the "y" keys switched position. I called HP, got them to send s4 and I returned s3.

Now, I have been using the s4 for months and loved it. With s4 attached, the unit is too long to fit in any carrying case, so I have to be careful. It also covers up the finger print scanner, so that feature is out.

My experience: I love HP customer service. They were nice. They called me for followups after my call to see if everything was working each time. They shipped promptly and returning was easy. Didn't cost me a dime. Cost HP a lot I am sure. At first I didn' t like the extra plastic cover because when I need to touch screen, I have to open it. What a hassle. Now I am used to it.

I sometimes rather use the soft-keyboard that is built in, since that annoying screen protector is always in the way. Also the keyboard has shown me no glitches, but it is very hard to use especially in the dark [since it has no backlight].

I keep it on at all times, just in case... I recommend it for those who do A LOT of typing on the go.

Also it is possible to use the Targus [Stowaway] keyboard with it, you just have to make sure that the other device is disabled when using the current typing device respectively.

I read the other reviews and suspect that the problems with this keyboard have revolved around issues with the IPAQ bios and not the keyboard itself. Also this unit support many models so it is difficult to judge it. So my review is based on my model 5500 experience.

Worked fine out of the box but did need the latest drivers. NO bios change required.

As far as a keyboard goes this unit works great...good spacing and high domes help hit the right key. I did not like the smoked plastic screen protector..it should have been clear but it hinges out of the way.

This is more than a keyboard...it is a case to protect the product.

I probably won't use too much of the stylus, but it does work... and works well.

The case itself is really nice! Looks like it will definitely take a fall or two and protect the tablet on the inside. The modular tablet case inside wraps around the tablet and is secured in by Velcrothe design was good up to the SD card slot. I had to take an exacto/razor blade and carefully remove some material so I could still access the SD. No biggie there but would have been nice NOT to customize the interior right away. Everything else is in the right place and the inside can be turned around so the charging cable can be attached while still in the case. The front/rear cameras are exposed without blockage too.

There is still room inside for a normal pen and a few half-sheets of paper or business cards so that feature is very nice.

The stand is heavy enough that the case does not fall over on itself or close suddenly. It has a magnet inside so when you fold it awayit stays put!

I am overall impressed with the quality so I didn't dock a star for the "mod" I had to do for the SD card slot.

My husband gave me a NookColor for Christmas and I quickly found that I needed a cover for it. I was afraid I'd scratch or drop it, so I went in search of something to protect it. I love everything about this case! With the JAVOedge flip design, the NookColor is protected on all 4 sides, but it still leaves access to power/volume buttons and headphone/charge plugs. The flip stand is very handy and keeps my hands from getting too tired from holding for long periods. I use it on the table, or propped on my lap when on the sofa. The front cover, which is nicely cushioned, flips over behind the device out of the way making it very comfortable to hold, in either portrait or landscape position. And there's a pocket for a business card with contact info in case it gets left behind somewhere (important now that I take it everywhere.)

The case is sturdy and now I don't worry about damaging my ebook. The magnets hold the cover closed tightly, but not too tight, without any straps getting in the way. I've read that the magnets are not damaging to the NookColor (hope that's right.) Now I don't hesitate to put it in my purse or tote or tossing it on the seat next to me in the car. I highly recommend this cover!

first off, i bought this used off amazon in very good condition for 25.00$. free shipping. things i like : not to bulky but affords nice protection. the vertical kick stand is nice, but you can also rig it so it can stand in a horizontal position too. in my case, the nook slips into position a liitle to easily, so it can slip out if you are not careful. the speaker cutout only is open if the kick stand is in use, so for my purposes it is not that effective since i rarely use the stand. if i paid 35.00 for it, i would have given it 3* rating.

I bought a nook color a couple of months ago and quickly found that in the Florida air, the rubberized back gets frustratingly sticky after a few minutes of holding it, and started looking for a case. I really liked that this flipped over the top and that it could prop up.

Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld

Ignore most of the complaints about this model and Palm in general. Remember what you want a Palm for: storing information in an easy-to-access manner. For most people, it isn't supposed to be a mini laptop. It doesn't matter if the specs haven't changed much over the years. How much has a DayRunner improved in the past couple of decades? Some innovations make sense, sure. I've had several PDAs over the past few years because of specific things I wanted (rechargable battery, color screen, wireless access, etc.). Now I have a E2 (for the Bluetooth, screen, design, and ease of use). But at the end of the day, my usage has stayed pretty constant. I want good PIM applications (personal information management) on a small device with a good screen and battery life and the ability to check my email. That's all I want, and the E2 gives me that. Sure, Palm could wow us with innovations, but I really can't figure out what they could introduce that would be a "must-have" feature. Competing Windows Mobile devices don't offer anything particularly better either (unless you want a jack of all trades device that isn't particularly good at anything. In other words, if you want a PDA, this one is great. Here's why:

1. For most of the things that anyone does with a Palm, it works great. In other words, the PIM features work great, and the direct synchronization with Outlook is fantastic (and a new feature only on the past few Palm devices).

2. The hardware and "fit" of the device is great. This is the latest in the "Palm V" model and it shows. No gimmicks, just a good device fit and design wise.

3. The Bluetooth feature is great, if you need/want it. Setting up PC Bluetooth sync is easy if you follow the manual and the wizard on the device. Using it with a phone is a much greater challenge due to the few phones supported directly by Palm. Check first to see if yours is. If not, there might be a work-around, but prepare yourself for a few hours on the internet trying to find one.

4. The fact that the memory doesn't get erased when the power runs out will be really helpful if you're prone to forgetting to charge your devices.

The bad:

1. Versamail is incredibly difficult to work with. By far it has taken me the longest time to find out that I can't use it to sync with Outlook as planned (this is because you can't directly Hotsync IMAP accounts with SSL security, nor can you sync an IMAP account to Outlook, points buried in Palm's website).

2. As mentioned, getting Bluetooth to work with an unsupported phone is a real pain and not the most reliable connection ever invented.

3. Yeah, yeah, it shows fingerprints, should have a power indicator light, and a cradle would have been nice. A little too much cost-cutting, I think.

Overall, I'm very happy with the E2. It does what I want and probably more than what most people desire (most people probably don't need Bluetooth on a PDA). If you don't care about Bluetooth or the non-volatile memory on the E2, get the Tungsten E and save yourself $50.

There is a reason, sadly, why sales of PDA's have shrunk each of the past few years -a crushing lack of imagination and innovation -while rival gadgets competing for valuable pocket space, like Apple's iPod, have taken up the slack and have seen booming sales as a result.

The Tungsten E was a breakthrough in its time, a beautiful piece of engineering with a high-quality color screen and a rock-bottom price of 199 clams. Its main drawbacks -it's paltry 32MB Ram and it's lack of built-in wireless capabilities -could be fixed with add-on cards.

But two years is a long-time in electronics land. Since then, Apple released the iPod mini, which will store the contacts most people use Palms for, plus hold 4GB worth of tunes, for the same price. It's also far smaller than a Palm.

Meanwhile, folks who want the more sophisticated functions that a Palm can deliver -like medical imaging etc. for docs, photos, sophisticated calculator, email and web surfing on the go -found the Tungsten E outclassed by Blackberry's, upgraded cell phones, Palm's own Treo and the like.

So it was odd, and frankly disappointing, to get a look at the new, pricier Tungsten E2. I'd love to see the market research that suggested they could raise prices with a minimal feature upgrade while the competish has been eating their lunch. After a two-year wait, they didn't even increase the 32 MB memory. They merely made it non-volatile flash (something they should have done long, long ago). At a time when Apple is selling a 1GB shuffle for $149 and flash memory is dirt cheap, it's mind-boggling why Palm would choose to link the E2's fabulous hi-res screen to low-rent memory.

As for what you still don't get: There is no phone, no camera, no thumbpad, no WiFi. This is close to a pure PDA, though it can display pictures and double as a poor-man's MP3 player.

The added bluetooth -odd why they went that route instead of the far more common WiFi -does nothing unless you have a compatible bluetooth phone or computer.

As with the E, the E2 still is a great design. Clean, simple, portable, shirt-pocketable. No keyboard, but I've never been a thumbpad fan.

MS Office functions are also included -Word, Outlook, Powerpoint. Why you would use them, however, is a bit bizarre to me. Who wants to spend the time coding in a Powerpoint presentation with a stylus? Yet, if this is important to you, it's here. And having your email with you can be a plus...

Here's a basic product guide:

Mono Palm Zire -Bargain basement model with 7.2 MB of Ram, upgraded from hobbled 2 MB original model. About 100 smackers. Often offered free as bundle deals with new computers. Good starter model for the price, but designed to leave you wanting more. Includes rechargeable battery. Memory can not be upgraded. Horribly skimpy black-on-grey screen.

Tungsten T2+, etc.: Deluxe models that feature, in some cases, larger screens/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/thumbpads with dropdown graffiti screens. All unnecessary features in my book, especially given their much higher prices.

Zire 72: Similar to E2, but with a low-rent camera attached.

Treos: These models should be seriously considered if you are a thumbpad fan, or if you want your PDA to also be your phone. But let's face it, how many people can afford spending several hundred smackers on a PDA?

BTW, when comparing, I've found you can generally ignore the speed of the processor. For most Palm functions, the reaction time is near instantaneous, or at most a second or two lag.

As for PocketPCs, some of them are now very attractively priced and are worth checking out. I've yet to use one extensively, so I'll stick to what I know -Palms are simple, easy to use and almost guaranteed to improve your productivity. It's like having a backup for your brain. And who doesn't need that?

This is my first organizer ever. I'm totally impressed. After reading some of the reviews here I was scared to put my money on any of these things. Seems like someone had complained about every model out there. This one had at least above average reviews, and I liked the fact that fewer people complain about the soft boot issue.

Now it's two months later and I can't imagine living without it. I'm a college teacher, with lots of faculty meetings to track, plus a freelance business, and the usual dentist and car appointments. I used to keep a paper "to do" list in my shirt pocket, but it doesn't ring if I forget to scan it several times a day. In short, my life is so busy that I was beginning to drop appointments.

I'm happy to report that this tungsten e2 syncs perfectly with Microsoft Outlook 2002. There are a few minor anomalies, but nothing that is a deal breaker. I was disturbed at first to discover that the thing is never really off. I would have liked to be able to totally turn it off when I had no appointments coming up, to save juice. However I've found that this is a none issue. It runs for at least 4 days, sometimes a week and a half before needing a charge.

The operating system seems quite solid. It locks up maybe once every 2 to 3 weeks, but that requires just a tap of a pen on the reset button on the back, and it comes back all happy in a couple seconds. When I was installing third party software every couple days it would lock up more frequently, but I've got everything I need now, and things have settled down.

I don't use it for email, or for surfing the net. I have a laptop for that, and I didn't want to pay an extra hundred for the wifi card.

The coolest thing about this e2 is the calendar and alarm, the tasks list, and the contacts. With the hot buttons on the front to access these vital functions, this thing never leaves my person. I even take it climbing in my backpack. Never know when I might want to make a note about something, or meet a new friend and exchange phone numbers.

After I bought it and realized how useful it was, I was tempted to exchange it for the treo, which has all this, plus a phone...until I found out that you have to pay at least $50 a month to the phone service to make the internet stuff work. Scratch that! I love this thing. It's perfect for my needs. I did buy the 2 year replacement policy from circuit city. $30 seemed like a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I've been using my Tungsten E2 for about one month now, and I'm very pleased. I've owned the Tungsten E and Zire 71 models, and the Tungsten E2 is definitely an improvement. The screen looks very good, and it is even readable in direct sunlight. The battery life has been excellent, and the Bluetooth works great. I really think the Tungsten E2 remains an excellent value for those who want lots of functionality but do not require 802.11 wireless or a larger screen (i.e. the TX model). I use mine heavily, and I've not experienced any problems so far. The only thing I don't like about this model is that I can't charge the device via USB. I don't like having to carry the large AC adapter with me when I travel. I miss being able to charge my Zire 71 via the USB cable, whether it was connected to my laptop or the car adapter which came with my USB sync cable. Aside from this one complaint though, I highly recommend this device--even in light of the two new models Palm recently released (the TX and Z22 models). Of course, if you don't mind spending the extra money, go for the TX model. Otherwise, I think the price and features of the Tungsten E2 make it an excellent value.

I bought my first Palm years ago, the classic PalmPilot III. It still works reliably, and never lost the contents of its memory. Hotsync always worked great, and only the slowly deteriorating digitizer function (it got drifty and would not stay calibrated) entice me to look for a new version.

Palm's website has a product recommending feature, and after I plugged in my expectations, it came up with the Tungsten E2. I was happy that I could buy it for less than $200, and it came with lots of nice software.

I intitially could not get the Palm Desktop to install, because I still had the older version on my computer, and this caused an odd error message that had nothing to do with previous software versions. I could not find a way to email tech support through the Palm website, so I took a guess and emailed support@palm.com. I got a reply in less than 24 hours, with advice to make sure earlier software versions were not installed. Good for them that they got back relatively quickly, and good also that they gave me the right answer the first time. Bad that the software was unable to recognize an earlier version and respond with a prompt or other warning (as most software installer utilities will do).

The E2 itself seems very nice, and the ease of use and nice display made me quite happy at first. I am worried about the non-replaceable rechargeable battery, since it seems that when that starts to lose its ability to hold a full charge, the unit will have to be thrown away...never had that worry with the old Palm III, which used replaceable alkalines! At least most modern rechargables have long useable life spans....

Then the annoyances started. Just as soon as I had decided this was a keeper, and had chucked the packaging material (the retailer will not take it back without the plastic vacuum pack, even if it was destroyed in order to extricate the E2 in the first place), I noticed a very serious bug in the operating system (OS). The FIND function will not find more than 8 contacts, even if many more contacts match the search criteria. At first I thought they limited it to only 8, but remembering the identical function on the old Palm III, I could not believe this. Further checking showed that the screen says that it is able to 'find more?' if I tap a button, and when I do so it indicates that it is displaying additional matches, but it really just shows the first 8 matches again. This is a critical fault in a function that is really necessary for the PDA's primary purpose...that of storing and retrieving many contacts.

I was tipped off, by the E2 forum in the Palm website, that this was a well known problem (wish I had checked this before buying), but also that there were other amazing bugs. One of these is the built-in calculator, which comes up with some real far out answers when using the % key. For example, 200 + 5% is 2.05? How about 210!!!!!

Palm makes it as hard as possible to contact tech support and customer service, but I worked at it and finally had a so-called Level 2 tech support person on the line (from India, it sounded like, and they called me at 10:30 at night). They readily acknowledged the problems, but stated that Palm had designed the E2 without flash-upgradable OS, and with so many having been made, Palm decided to simply not take them back...can't fix the problem cheaply with a download, so ignore the problem and let the customer twist in the wind.

The tech support person gave me a phone number and expediting code, which got me through to Palm corporate headquarters and a manager in customer relations. He plainly stated that the E2 did not have any bugs, since the things I was bringing up were actually designed that way, and as such were design features, not faults. No argument I made could get him to admit that this was a problem. When I pressed him for help and said his 'company line' was clear BS, he stated that the problems had gone as far as the CEO of Palm, who had decreed that the company would not admit a fault and would not fix, take back or in any other way remedy the problems. He said the company position is that the E2 is a 'low end' product, and cannot be expected to work as well as the more expensive products in their line!

Well I cannot return my E2, cannot afford to throw it away and buy a more expensive one, and I do need a PDA that runs Palm OS applications. My solution was to spend another $40 and buy two after-market programs, a scientific calculator application and the IntelligentFind application. Both work fine, and unless the E2 starts to have problems turning on (as many have complained about), I suppose it will do a decent job until I grow tired of it in a few years.

I purchased this item because I liked the way it could stand while I was reading it. The problem I have with it is that one side is not secure and the Nook Color can slip out of the case which is what happened to me. I went to open it and the Nook slipped out and fell onto my tile floor and the screen got cracked.

Plus I have tried to contact the company to return it since I only had it for less than a month and haven't been able to get a respose from them.

Acer Revo RL80-UR318 Desktop (The Smart PC)

I have tried other small form factor PCs for use with my home theater, and returned every one of them because they could not stream high quality video at 1080p. This one can, and does it like a champ. The unit comes with a bluetooth keyboard, a bluetooth mouse, and an infrared remote control. The documentation is poor (still have no idea what 2 of the buttons on the remote do,) but the product is superb. Note that the optical drive is DVD, not Bluray, so if you need the latter this is not the gadget for you. This Revo comes with Windows 8, which I have found to be mildly annoying because of the changes to the layout from previous versions, but no big deal.

If you know what a HTPC is and have been holding off on Windows 8 look no further. There is a bit of a learning curve but with perseverance and looking up things on the internet when you get stuck, you'll end up loving this little machine. As far as form factor, and included specifications its harder to do better if you're looking for a HTPC.

Many moons ago, Windows Media Center got me hooked on the notion of creating 'the perfect living room PC', and here it is.

The Acer Revo L80 is a good looking, characterful little machine that you want to stroke from the moment you take it out of the box. Just make sure you're wearing gloves or your fingerprints will be over it in no time.

Booting up for the first time revealed the usual OEM desktop clutter. I could have sat there for an hour uninstalling programs, but had an SSD I wanted to install in place of the 750GB hard disk.

Even the internals of this machine are aesthetically pleasing, with everything laid out beautifully. There are a few screws to undo, but once in bits, replacing the drive was a cinch.

So far, so good. Now, I confess I'm old-school: I know lots about BIOS but zip about this new-fangled EFI, or UEFI depending on who's confusing you. Installing Windows 8 was seemingly impossible, with errors thrown up all over the place, so tried WIndows 7 instead, which was very much trial and error, but I got there after a few hours (yes, a few hours). Determined not to be beaten, however, I then spent another 8 hours trying to install Windows 8. Eventually, I gave up and am stuck with Windows 7 not a bad choice of OS, but this machine is designed for Windows 8, so I'm interested in discovering the differences / benefits. Unfortunately, converting the disk from GPT to MBR meant wiping out the recovery partition, but hopefully the instructions I discovered this morning will help me in my Holy Grail-like quest for the perfect virgin Win 8 install (

I'll be honest so far, this has been the single, most frustrating install I've ever done, without doubt, but the blame doesn't entirely lay with Acer: EFI is the way forward; it's a new technology that will eventually completely replace the ageing BIOS (which has been around since the 70s, let's face it). So I have to learn a new technology no biggie; I just wish I'd known about it beforehand. This is where Acer is to partly to blame: there is nothing in their (somewhat limited) documentation describing the new tech or explaining how to build your own installation from the ground up. PC manufacturers clearly want you to stick with their 'official' release, but surely they're not so naive as to think nobody every replaces their software?

One final gripe: why Microsoft hasn't released a 2nd Service Pack for WIndows 7 yet is beyond me. Seriously, it took 2-3 hours to install the various Windows and Office updates yesterday, which could've been sped up considerably with a single SP2.

Now, the good stuff.

This machine is speedy. It's much speedier than its specs suggest. I use XBMC to deliver all my 1080p HD content (movies, TV shows plus DVT-T2 HD TV recording across 2 tuner sticks). I've yet to see a stutter. 5.1 audio is delivered faultlessly to my DTS/Dolby receiver/amp. The only issue I have is getting my RC6 MCE remote working with the built-in IR receiver, so at the moment am using an external USB IR blaster. This is the one final tweak I'm working on, then it'll be a perfect system.

I've yet to find a set top box that provides the same functionality as XBMC: there are compromises all over the place STBs that do everything but don't collect the rich metadata on your external HD movie collection, YouView boxes here in the UK that sound ideal until you discover you can't connect external storage. My PC has two uses: XBMC and web browsing, so have never really needed the horsepower of my ageing XPS420.

If you want a perfect living room PC, this is the one to beat if all you want to do is plug in and go. But go in with your eyes open if you're planning on re-installing the OS, to save you many hours of fiddling.

I've only had this product for a few days, so I can't vouch for its longevity... but overall its pretty fast and capable for its small form factor. It was very snappy, and seemed to handle Windows 8 fine.

There were some minor issues, however, that sort of irked me.

1) Wireless mouse and keyboard do not work out of the box. I had to plug in a USB mouse and keyboard, as I couldn't get these to sync up. That is sort of a problem, because Windows 8 requires you to answer a few questions. I can easily see someone not being able to get passed the initial setup because the wireless keyboard and mouse didn't work with it. Its ok to me, because I didn't want to use the supplied keyboard and mouse anyway.

2) I could not boot to CD or USB drive with the default settings. Secureboot needs to be turned off in the BIOS, and launch CSM needs to be set to always in order for this to work. The Launch CSM setting is actually deceptive, as it takes on a grey color that usually indicates you aren't able to change it in the BIOS. It took me a while to notice it was there.

3) Gigabit ethernet driver needed to be updated This one was sort of a big one for me. This machine shipped with a barely working driver for the built in gigabit ethernet. Using a LAN cable, it crawled and the connection often stalled. I had to connect using the built in wireless and use device manager to search online for a more recent driver. You could also download the updated driver from Intel's website, although it seemed to me that the driver that device manager found made the network traffic a little more snappy than the one from Intel's site..

4) The UEFI bios and the requirement to use Launch CSM made the linux install I did very difficult. The fact that I needed to use compatibility mode to boot to CD meant that I could not install Linux on the disk while using GPT. Since compatibility mode (Launch CSM always) was on, Linux thought the machine was only capable of booting using an MBR, and would not install on a free partition. I had to wipe the machine and make the disk boot via MBR instead of GPT. This was sort of s***ty, since I really wanted to keep Windows on there as well.

I also ended up loading a special firmware for Linux on there. I'm not sure why I had to do this, but everyone seemed to recommend this.

So, in effect, the hardware is quite good in this machine. I really hate the BIOS in this machine. I can't stress that enough. Never had this problem with an Asus UEFI bios. The driver for the NIC and the failure of the KB and Mouse to work out of the box was annoying, but it was easy enough to work around these problems.

I got this PC delivered to me today and I have played with it for a couple of hours and so far I love it. It is faster than the Acer RL70-UR10P which I also own and it has a few additions compared to RL70-UR10P. There is Bluetooth connectivity, faster CPU, Blu-ray DVD player and more RAM. It also comes with Windows 8 (not PRO).

I did have one small issue though. I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 8 PRO and it was not able to boot up from the Windows 8 DVD or even Windows 7 DVD. I did set in BIOS CD/DVD media as a primary boot option and it still wouldn't boot up from either DVD which did work on another PC. I even tried an external USB DVD player/recorder which also would not work.

If anyone knows a solution to this issue, let me know.

I have the IPAQ 4150, which is limited in the accessory department. I first bought an IR keyboard to find the transmitter wouldn't work with my IPAQ due to the fact the IR port is on the bottom of the unit. So after a trip back to the store, I broke down and bought the HP brand. I wish I had bought it here, because my local electronics store was twenty dollars more. My only complaint is the keyboard wobbles while typing, because the back support rest is about half an inch to short to prevent this. One could probably fix this by weighting the back end a bit.

It's hard finding a keyboard that works with your pda. I ending up getting this one for my rx3115 and do not regret it. Check around for prices, but this is a nice one. I prefer the kind that hook up to the serial port and don't require batteries. You don't have to worry about the PDA falling off or the batteries running out.

The keys are very solid, which is very different from most other foldable keyboards which are more like flimsy laptop keyboards. Also the keyboard itself is very sturdy and won't fold up in your lap. It doesn't fold at all, actually, the keys slide out sideways. I like this design better than the others which fold like napkins.

The only drawback is that this keyboard is smaller, but I got used to it within a day.

Also, it's not mentioned in the instructions, but you do have to have turn the PDA off and then on to get the PDA to recognize keyboards like this that hook up via the serial port.

I first bought this keyboard in 2004. I used it from time to time and was quite pleased with it until certain keys suddenly no longer worked. Hewlett Packard replaced it as it was still under warranty. A few months later, the same keys (P, O, etc.) suddenly stopped working on the replacement keyboard. The ribbon cable on the right side of the keyboard (inside, you can't see it) is about 1/4 inch too short so that opening and closing the keyboard puts a tension on the cable which eventually causes it to break. It could possibly be avoided if you open the keyboard slowly and very gently. It seems to be the only keyboard that does not need batteries. I would consider buying another one, but it's too bad that HP didn't add another quarter inch of play to the cable.

This keyboard gets the job done, compact, folds away nicely. The downside is that unlike most othe PDA keyboards it plugs in instead of using wireless or Bleutooth. It also lacks a power source (ie. battery, Ac adapter) and can drain your PDA's battery. The main positive is that it is compatible, the only keyboard compatible with this set of HP products. Oh one other thing, if you're using POCKET PC windows 2003 or newer your gonna need to download a new driver from HP's website, as what they packadge with the product is now old and no longer compatible.

This keyboard is incredibly useful. It's almost like having a full size keyboard (it is slightly smaller and I know those with big hands have complained it is too small... I don't have that problem so I haven't noticed) and it folds up nice and compact (it fits in my purse quite nicely along with my ipaq and I don't carry the biggest of purses, I hate big purses).

The keys have a nice feel to them and for me the keyboard has lasted 2 years (your mileage may vary, I can't say I've been super tough on it either though). Not one key has problems.

They include a lot of nice shortcuts (using their function key combined with the right key you have shortcuts to word, excel, calendar, tasks, outlook, contacts, notebook, and you can even turn off the PDA (but not on).

The ability to power it up through a hookup for your power cord while using it is a very nice touch.

And the key layout is nice. As I said, it's like having a slightly smaller keyboard (but they keep the ratios the same). They give you a decent sized backspace key (I *hate* small backspace keys). The return button is a nice size. It has all the basic functions of a laptop keyboard (minus mouse) including the windows button (in my opinion more useful than on a PC just because how I use the handheld vs. the PC). It even has a number keypad (kinda, you have to get it in numlock mode and use the keys set out to be the number keypad). And it has arrows even (layed out properly). I think my biggest issue is I wish it had the function button on both sides of the keyboard. Actually, I think it would have been better if they put it on the other side rather than on the side they did. That would make it easier to use without moving my hands from proper typing position from the keyboard (all the keys serving as a double for the function key are on the same side as the key except the off button).

If they stop supporting the same hookup on newer ipaqs I hope they make a version of this keyboard to support the newer ipaqs. I'd rather use this keyboard than the other ones on the market. I didn't give it five stars cause I did consider some people may prefer having a true full size keyboard (I don't notice the difference but it's been mentioned and it has caused some people problems. Personally I'd prefer it to be slightly smaller and fit in my purse better like it does already :) ).

However...I've now broken not one, but two face plates that come with this case. The little plastic hooks that snap the front part of the case into place are very fimsy. The back part seems to be a bit more durable. This company was good enough to send me a replacement when the first one broke, but now the second one broke. I purchased this to scan client records instead of paying for copying since I use electronic databases anyway. I was hoping this would be a time saver. Not at all. First, as stated, it does not come with a micro SD. Since it did not say it was required to operate the device I was okay with this. Well, it needs one to function. That was a trip to Best Buy and $12 extra. Second, the WiFi connect is slow so I had to wait several minutes to ensure my documents scanned correctly. I tried both my cell phone and computer. Using the connector to my laptop was faster. Third, the paper has to be completely flat on a completely flat surface or you get crooked lines and unreadable text. Literally a crumb throws it off. Papers that were folded were very problematic and turned out hard to read. Fourth, I lost a whole bar of battery in under an a half hour just practicing using it. So I can only imagine how many batteries I would need for this.

My smartphone works much better; it takes better pictures of documents, the images are readable even if a folded paper, I can crop image easily and I can instantly send them via email. I'm going to continue to use my phone!

i'm scanning less than 20 documents per set of alkaline batteries. otherwise results and features are pretty good. recommended for occasionally use.

With a steady hand and reasonable expectations for a hand held scanner you can expect some reasonably good scans. I usually scan some articles off science magazines for my Evernote library. This scanner works well for that. You can simply hook it up to the USB port of your computer and simply drag and drop the scans into your Evernote notebooks from the microSD folder. However, this scanner has some serious usability flaws! First, the small LCD screen makes it difficult to read the current settings which all appear at the periphery of the screen within the shadow of the bezel. The format button (which erases the microSD memory) is middle and center and too easy to press by mistake! In a few occasions I had to remove the batteries to abort an accidental formatting of my memory card. There is no cancel button. Setting the date is a primitive process that needs to be repeated every time you change the batteries!(I've discovered that you can preserve the time settings if you hookup your scanner to the USB before changing the batteries). And you will change the batteries FREQUENTLY. Even if you don't scan anything but leave the scanner OFF for a few days your will almost certainly need new batteries when you come back to reuse it (and that is with the WI-FI off!)For transferring to the computer the Wi-Fi is functional but impractical. I no longer use it and I always favor the USB cable which is faster and easier to pair with my computer. Instead of the scanner acting as a router I would have liked the Wi-Fi to permit the scanner to connect to my home network and transfer the files automatically to my computer, like the Eye-Fi 4 GB Connect X2 SDHC Class 6 Wireless Flash Memory Card (EYE-FI-4CN-FF). VuPoint will have to work on these issues before they really have a useful hand held scanner on the market.

I purchased this power strip because the picture shows the power cord coming from the side of the strip rather than the end. The strip I received has the power cord coming out of the end, like most power strips. Not a big issue for most people, but my application demands the power cord not come from the end. SO, I will be doing power strip surgery! Otherwise it is a nicely built power strip. Also, the power strip I received has a protective switch cover that is not pictured either. I plan to remove that during surgery as well.

Velocity Micro T301 Cruz 7-Inch Android 2.0 Tablet (Black)

I bought this in February 2011 but wasn't terribly impressed. I was unsure if the touchpad wasn't very sensitive or if the OS was part of the problem. It often required 2 or more taps to activate a button/selection and browsing the web was klunky and slow. I installed Amazon Kindle and it worked well enough but often crashed and on restart returned to the starting location from before the crash, often making reading irksome. The 7 inch screen is large enough to be useful in most situations and makes the unit very portable. The graphics display is quite nice in most applications (Kindle books look great) although the Solitaire game that comes with the tablet/O.S. looks like something on my old Motorola Razr and a Mah Jongg game I downloaded looks downright crappy. Since games aren't important these shortcomings aren't important to me.

Yesterday I came across information about upgrading from Android 2.0 to 2.2 and decided to give it a try. What a difference! First, the home screen just looks better. The pad is much more responsive than before -I'll have to get accustomed to tapping once and waiting before tapping the screen again. So far web browsing is easier, Kindle seems to be more stable (although I haven't used it long enough to really judge), and even battery life, which was good before, seems to have improved as well.

If you're looking to get your feet wet with a tablet but don't want to spend a lot of $$ the T301 might be a good start IF you upgrade to Android 2.2 (which you can do after you register the T301 at the velocitymicro.com site). Of course I haven't recently checked other tablet features/prices so you should probably do that!

Received it with the new Froyo 2.2 OS installed right out of the box, its 2.2.1-rc7 to be exact. The capacitive screen behaves better than I thought, and I am not sure why people have such a huge issue with it, it works great and really is very responsive. The multi-touch does work, and yes, it does have some delay if you scroll around, say on a webpage or even to look around through your installed apps, its definitely not the same speed as you'd expect from an iPad, but its not bad at all either, I mean come on, this is a $150 product ! The more I use it, the more I like it, its definitely not as horrible as others have commented on some other reviews.

Tried to install Angry Birds, nope, didn't install at all, none of the different Angry Birds did. Guns and Glory though runs pretty slowly, again, the processor on the T301 is only a bit more than 500mhz, so I am not surprised. Some other games work fine, such as Robot Defense, which runs a very playable speed. Adobe Flash Player didn't install at all, so no direct Flash support as stated in the Cruz manual. However, Youtube app does work fine, as well as some other apps that play online videos, which use the youtube app as a playback engine. Haven't tried anything 3D'ish, my assumption is that either it wouldn't install or wouldn't run.

As an eReader, it works flawlessly ! Amazon Kindle came pre-installed, and works great, iReader runs great, I have yet to put more, but I know that the Kobo reader app will run just fine and is available for download at the Cruz Market. Speaking of market, there's no way to put Android Market on this thing, but there are other app stores that can do the trick for you, such as AppBrain, SlideMe, and some others. It took me a while to find an internet radio app to install and run on the T301, Resco Radio 1.3, and must be 1.3, all other versions failed to install. Its awesome to have music going while I am reading !!

z4root didn't install, so forget about simple rooting. None of the searches I found on Google tells a solid rooting routine for the T301, but so far, I don't see why one needs to root it. App2SD does work and works wonderfully.

A couple of CON's I need to give the T301. There is no way to locate the T301's MAC address, since my router is set to use MAC address filtering for connecting to the web, I had to have its MAC address. You would expect to find it in the Settings>About... But no, its not there, this is not the first Android tablet I've owned, I know where it is normally, but on the T301, its just not shown ! I had no choice but to disable my router's MAC address filter but to have it wide open. Got the T301 connected, and loaded up the router's settings, and voila ! There's the T301's Mac address listed on the router's admin page !

Another CON is that the box says there's 2gb of storage space, but I only found 650megs !? I am not sure how and where I can get to the other 1.4gb of storage... If someone's reading this and knows what to do to claim space back, please help ! But then again, I have an external 4gb SD card inserted, its still good after all.

Like many other reviewers mentioned, the T301 is indeed quite heavy, at least heavier than my other tablets.

I have not tried loading movies on it, so I have no comment about it. Otherwise, if you have patience to look up apps that you need and that they DO install and work fine on the T301, then its really a great tablet for the price, but just don't expect it a gaming machine !

UPDATE 08-08-2011:

So it turns out that there IS a way to put Android Market on the Cruz T301. I did it by following what the below link suggested, and thank goodness, it DOES work !!!! The only thing I had to do prior to perform this little procedure was that I had to update my T301 with the firmware released some time in May on the Velocity Micro website, I had to make sure the Android OS is 2.2.1, but NOT 2.2.1rc7 or anything rc's. It took only about 3 to 5 minutes to update the firmware, and I got myself a fully working T301 with OS 2.2.1.

Putting the Anrdroid Market on it was also pretty easy, just follow what the folks said on the page. I have been downloading apps from the genuine Market like a kid in a free candy store ! Also Aldiko Premium 1.2.9 DOES work on the T301, install it for more of your reading needs !

Bought as a color, touchscreen Kindle. It's that and more!! Hooked up to WiFi fast and flawless. Great capacitive screen. Got live wallpaper. YouTube works great. Email works great. Needed get incoming/outgoing info from Centurylink, though. Must understand what you're buying. I have an iPad. This isn't one. Nor is it a full-fledged Android tablet. You're not getting that for $150!!! It IS, however, cheaper than a Nook Color with a Kindle selection. Some Android Apps work. Some don't. Try and see. Downloaded a video to 8GB SD card. Can't get it to play though. This is Android 2.2 out of the box. Didn't come with SD card. Not too important. They're cheap. No flash player. Skyfire Browser gives that though. I like this device. I like the 7inch screen. My kids steal my iPad and I needed a back up color, touchscreen reader/web browser with benefits for cheap. This is it!!!

You can't actually use it, the apps all crash, you can't install anything because the Amazon and Android market place are not pre-installed and the browser keeps crashing so you can't get to the Amazon or Android Market places. I've reset factory defaults and tried over and over like a blind pig running into the broad side of a barn over and over again. I give up. I'm returning it.

It actually came with Android 2.2.1 pre-installed.

I did not do any research before ordering this product, my assumption was that since it ran Android it would be able to connect to the Google android market and download anything that would run on my two year old Droid cell phone. I was mistaken. Even though it is June 2012 this piece of Junk will not do 1/4 of what my 2010 Droid phone will.

I purchased this so that my 5 year old daughter would have a tablet to play with instead of using my smart phone.
