As you'll see in my video, it's very slim and form fitting, by using a minimum of material and a maximum of ingenuity. It does stand up in both "shallow" and "deep display positions,[1] but I keep my tablet on an elago P2 Stand (Black) so this feature wasn't as critical for me. I wanted a slim case for carrying it between meetings, with reliable sleep and wake functioning using the Nexus 7's magnetic sensor. It does that stunningly, as you can see in my video.
What I can't mention enough is that the synthetic leather feels a lot like soft, glove-tanned cowhide (or lambskin). It's soft, warm, with a pleasing texture. If it wasn't for the bonded seam, I'd have mistaken for soft top-grain cowhide.
Take a look at my video, and if you like what you see, I suggest you order it without hesitation. I'm very, very happy with mine.
[1] ADDENDUM: My initial video review (available for a day) claimed that it wouldn't stand securely in the "steep" position -I was mistaken. After examining the product pics, I see now how they make it work in the "steep" position, by folding the front cover back right at the opening for the tablet. So my bad, my video review demonstration was in error. Personally, I'd prefer NOT to fold the cover back at that point as it might stress the sewn seams. It doesn't diminish the case at all in my eyes, it's still a superior Nexus 7 case, looking like a case that cost twice as much. The case is much thinner than the more popular rooCases and the like but it still gives adequate fall protection due to its prodyruding edges that can be seen in the pictures. These edges add a tiny bit of extra length and width but I've actually grown to like them as they make the holding edge of the nexus the perfect size (the unprotected edge being just a tad small). The sleep wake function works and doesn't have issues with folding back. The prop up also works, and the magnetic closure keeps the cover on well enough. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with the money I spent

I've had this case for a few weeks and so far I am very pleased. The overall fit-and-finish is very good. The exterior leather is well textured and feels thick and robust. The interior has a felt-like texture with pockets for business cards or thin paperwork. The zippers are weighty and feel like solid metal. The "kick-stand" used to prop up the case for hands-free use folds out and then magnetically attaches back against the case with a satisfying snap. There's a loop on the interior "binding" of the case that is a convenient place for a stylus.
The outer case is very professional looking. I regularly take it into business meetings.
There's an interior case that goes around the tablet and attaches via velcro to the main case. I've found this to be an excellent feature. It allows me to pull the tablet out of the main case for better portability while still keeping a protective housing around it. The best of both worlds, really. What you actually get with this product is a snug-fitting protective leather sleeve that fits inside a professional-looking portfolio case.
(For those of you who are general aviation pilots, this case should work well for you. You'll have a business-like portfolio cover for everyday tablet use in business or pleasure, but you'll be able to pull the tablet out of the main case for use in a yoke or other type mount, while still keeping it in a protective leather sleeve.)
There are a couple of cons:
1) I've had difficulty velcro-ing the tablet in the correct position to make the auto-wake function work. This is a non-issue for me, because I prefer controlling when the tablet wakes independently of my opening the case.
2) The fit of the tablet in the inner sleeve is extremely snug. This is sort of a pro and a con. It keeps it from jostling around, but I've found that on my case the tablet is slightly off-center. If you're OCD, it might bother you a bit.
3) If you're expecting to fit much more than the tablet in this case, you'll probably have difficulty doing so. The front-to-back width of the tablet takes up most of the case's space.
Beyond those very minor points, you'll find this to be a quality case with a very professional appearance, that feels robust enough to protect the tablet. Though I won't try it, the case feels solid enough to protect the tablet from harm when dropping it from waste-high onto a tile floor.

I've owned a couple of rooCASE cases in the past, (A500, Exite 10) and the thing that keeps me going back to them for cases is the fact that they make them very well out of very good materials and they are very well designed. This case is no different.
The versatile design featuring an inner sleeve secured with a Velcro band makes it easy to prop up your nexus 7 in either portrait or landscape mode.
The quality of the leather and stitching is great, and the built-in magnet means the sleep feature works too!
This case is also held closed magnetically, so it is less likely to open unexpectedly in your bag.
EDIT 8-01-2012
The magnetic wake function stopped working on my case, and when rooCASE proved unreachable via their website I contacted PC Micro Store via Amazon.
Within MINUTES I received a reply from Nichole telling me that my replacement case has been checked for proper function and was being sent out very soon.
This is an example of outstanding simply customer service.
I highly recommend PC Micro Store because of this great experience!

Nov. 19, 2012I am very disappointed to leave a negative comment so soon after I thought I'd found the perfect case.
Today I noticed that the "fold" has started to rip at both ends. The top actually has three tears and the bottom only one. It has torn almost to the stitching and I know once it reaches the stitching it won't be long before it's toast.
I don't understand why this happened. I'm not rough on it at all and it spends most of the time either in my purse or on the end-table. Been a happy few weeks but I'll be returning it and resuming my search for the next option. Bummer.
I reduced my rating to 2-stars after the original 5-star rating.
I just cannot give a rooCASE a 1-star rating.

My original review read:
I LOVE this case for all the reasons stated in other reviews. The case is very soft and the Nexus' corners are well protected. The slim design allows it to fit in my slimmest purse. I use a thin stylus on a 14 inch leash and I can either use the stylus loop or tuck it inside the interior 'fold' and it will still close properly. I chose the red color to make it easier to locate.
My one and only negative finding is that the microphone on the top left of the Nexus is completely obscured by the case. As I don't use the mics very often it really doesn't concern me for now. If it becomes an issue later I'll punch out a small hole for it then. (there are two microphones on the Nexus. One on the left side about 1/3 of the way from the bottom and the 2nd is on the top left. Teeny tiny holes.)
The only way this case could be made even better (IMO) would be if it had a hand strap for reading, an elastic band to secure the cover better when closed, and the opening for the 2nd microphone. An inside pocket would be a plus if it did not interfere with the slim design. Just enough for my DL and Starbucks card! ;-)
Thanks RooCase for an awesome cover!
