>I was surprised to see this available! This battery is a LOT less expensive than some others I found--but this is the EXACT size and thickness (and has the SAME connector arrangement) as the original. NO splicing needed! No "stuffing" needed either--the wires are the exact length needed! Instructions tell you exactly HOW to do the replacement--I suggest that you SEARCH for "Sony Clie Battery" on the Web, and read ALL of the instructions available from ALL the various sources BEFORE starting the replacement (photos and wording vary, and then some sources have some very nice, detailed color photos of exactly what to do)....

>PRICE: This offering was, and STILL IS, very competitive. This battery is priced as "Price Plus Shipping", but others offer this same battery (or similar batteries) at a higher price with "Free Shipping", so check around and read the details. There are a lot of Clie replacement batteries that are MUCH more expensive, that also do NOT supply you with any tool (see "CON" paragraph below).

>AN UNDECIDED QUESTION: Does this battery have the same capacity as the old (original) one? The specs provided seem to say so. However, I "think" that this new battery holds its charge over time (with the unit "off" and not used) for a slightly shorter time than the original did. [Obviously, this MANY YEARS after I bought it, I have NO OBJECTIVE MEASUREMENT to share here on battery charge retention or life.] --I am just so happy to be able to use this easy Clie device to record notes, record messages, turn voice mail messages or TAD mesasges into a computer file to store; or to take ".jpg" photos of tiny file size!- ...It is only from recollection that I "think" that this battery needs to be charged more frequently than the original Sony battery....

>DECIDEDLY CON: This is one TRUE DOWNSIDE. Why give me a "Universal Screen Protector" rather than a proper TINY screwdriver to fit exactly the Sony Clie case screws? Though the exact number and placement of screws can VARY on Clie units (see instructions available in multiple places on the Web), they hold the same TINY screws--screws that have tiny five-pointed "star-shaped" slots in them. As other reviewers elsewhere on the Web point out, you CAN use a VERY SMALL PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER THAT HAS NOT BEEN DAMAGED to get the screws out and get the case separated (and get the screws back in afterward). However, that does take some CAREFUL work; and the screws do end up slightly worn. OTHER supplier's batteries "give" you a (reportedly) proper screwdriver for these screws, so I'd gladly pay a bit more for one of these batteries "with tool" rather than getting a screen cover or rather than getting nothing else. [When ordering, I did not think that the price differential, for a possibly "plastic" and/or a "Phillips" or Torx screwdriver ($5-12), was truly worth it; BUT, that led to some anxious moments as 2 of the 5 screws were a bit resistant to coming out and they are so small that it was not possible to assure that I was not actually tearing up their star-shaped slots (don't forget to replace the one screw on the side).] In all, that screwdriver issue is, of course, a DECISION that you have to make, and then live with....
