DBTech Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard

The keyboard is actually smaller than I was expecting but it works great.

I purchased it to use with a HP Touchpad running CyanogenMod and it fits the job perfectly.

To get the keyboard to pair natively with the android OS you must do the following:

1. Go to the bluetooth pairing screen in android.

2. Turn the keyboard on and set it to scan mode.

3. Select the keyboard and enter the password 0000 when requested.

4. Type 0000 on the keyboard as well. (This step was not listed anywhere.)

The trick is to enter the password on both the keyboard as well as the android device.

I do not recommend the software that comes with the keyboard, it crashes 100% of the time on the touchpad, and the latest version which has been named BlueInput costs $10. In addition the mouse does not work when you use it.

Every feature of the keyboard works as described. Very good price for what you receive. The keyboard charges very quickly over standard USB and holds the charge for a significant period of time. The keyboard itself is backlit very well. The laser pointer is of fairly high quality. It even comes with a bluetooth adapter in the side of the keyboard for systems that do not have bluetooth.

This device is made by a company called Riitek. It is really made solid and all the buttons are comfortable and easy to use. If you're looking for a handheld mini wireless keyboard with touchpad this is the product for you. I purchased the Bluetooth version, it has a radio range of about 30 feet. If you're PC/Mac/PS3 has built-in Bluetooth then you don't need anything, just allow your computer to detect the device and it will easily pair up with the flip of the power switch. The device also includes a Bluetooth mini dongle which slides into a compartment along the side of the device. The device has a built-in lithium quick rechargeable battery. Just plug the USB cable into your PC and the device will be charged in less than 20 minutes. It holds a charge for a long time, I have used mine for several weeks and it still has a good charge. It has a backlight keyboard and laser pointer too. It also includes software so you can use it with your Android/Windows Mobile/Nokia Symbian Smartphone. I purchased mine so I could control my PC from my couch while my Sony VAIO F Series computer is connected to my HDTV via HDMI. Now I can surf the net, stream videos and play movies all from my living room couch.

This is a well designed, fully functional, sturdy little device which I use to control a laptop hooked into my TV from across the room. I sit about 20 feet from the PC, and the bluetooth works fine from that distance. There is no interference from other bluetooth devices in the room, nor does it interfere with wireless controls or devices. The buttons are well placed, as is the scroll pad and mouse pad. I haven't figured out a good way to click and drag yet, but I'm sure there's a convenient way to do this as well. Very nice little item, at a good price.

These are small but work great. Paired easily with my children's (ages 7 and 10) Asus tablets (TF300T). I'm an adult with fairly small hands and it seems comfortable for me to use also. Seems reasonably well made. Arrived on time and as described. Would buy again.

Fair warning I am a bit of a techie.

The device does not feel like it is going to break in your hand. A good thing for someone who gets an Otterbox Defender (their most rugged case) for every smart phone I've ever owned.

Like the title says the documentation needs work, pairing is simple enough with a bluetooth USB dongle provided if needed.

Press the bluetooth button till the green light starts blinking.

Go to whatever device / machine you are going to pair with and scan for the keyboard (Bluetooth devices in the notification area in win 7 / Ubuntu, "System settings" -> "Wireless" for Android, "Accessory Settings" for PS3)

The keyboard shows up as "macro keyboard" for me. In most cases you will be provided with a pin you need to use to pair the keyboard.

Type the pin provided into the keyboard (yes, you effectively have to do it blind), and then press enter, your device should now be paired. If you type it in wrong the PC / console should generate a new pin and you can try again.

The USB dongle works flawlessly on both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux 12.10. The above procedure works with Android 4.0, PS3 (current software as of 2012-10-26), Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux 12.10.

The ultra short manual at least goes into the horizontal vs vertical usage (the function key for Alt switches modes) in which the d-pad and the touch pad rotate up 90 degrees clockwise so that up now faces the edge with the laser pointer (think holding it like a remote with the laser pointer facing away). It does not however go into key mappings for the PS3. At the moment I know X = Enter, circle = Esc and triangle = F1. For now I don't know any of the other keys but those 3 will at least allow you to move around the basic interface on the PS3. The media function buttons don't work on the PS3 sadly and some apps like the new Youtube app don't work with the keyboard at all (I have a severe dislike of the new interface so I won't be penalizing stars for this).

For the price it is a great addon for a media center PC or to provide a keyboard vs having to type using a controller, I would highly recommend it. Hopefully the above information will get you over its severe lack of documentation.
