I used this card while on tour in Southern India during November and December of 2010. It is probably OK for use in the major cities, but once into the countryside many of the smaller communities do not appear in the database, roads that do exist don't show, roads that don't exist do. Compared to the US City Navigator card, I found that depending on the India card would regularly lead one astray.

I used these maps in Delhi, Agra. Panjab. Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It works only on major roads and, big cities and famous points of interest.

The biggest flaw is that it does not navigate to the precise destination. The addresses in India work different from addresses in US and most streets do not have names. For example, if you want to go to J-91 in Defense Colony, Delhi, it won't take you there because the GPS is only configured for street name, not the colony name. The Garmin GPS's are really for use in US where each street has a name and in India you have the house number in a colony but not on a street.

Even on major destinations, it navigated by a long circuitous route.

In my experience, Google Maps on an Android device or iPhone worked a lot better and that is what I would suggest for using in India for navigation.

The problems with the address description search locate function mentioned in other reviews has been fixed. If you have an older Garmin, make sure you update your Garmin with the latest software before you take it to India. Or if you have a new Garmin the software should already be updated. Speaking from experience the maps are good. It was wonderful to know the taxi drivers were driving all over and not choosing the most efficient route to my destination. I tipped accordingly. As with an AmEx card never leave home without the Garmin.

The product "Garmin India Maps" is not a good buy for the Indian roads, these maps don't cover any street apart from the main streets and roads. Google maps is far better than these maps, which are a complete waste of money.

Picked this from Staples store in Bangalore..was told to go for this instead of Satnav which I actually went for..used in Bangalore and Chennai..

Plus easy to use if you have practised abroad

Uses the same address format as in US not customized

no real time traffic updates on closures of roads..chennai is hard to navigate without knowing the closures for Metro

Doesnt track the correct address but can look to a street level

The last map update I have in my systems if of 2011..need more work to do..find google maps updated in a more frequent basis.
