Palm 3235WW Air Case for Z22 Handheld

I find this case difficult to use. Yes, it prevents scratches, but so would a safety vaultwhich is basically what this thing is. The case itself is absolutely impossible to get into; its a struggle every time.

If you plan on being able to actually access your palm pilot, go with the soft case.

Yes, the case is cheap plastic. Almost everything people said about it is true. However, it's the only case available right now, made specifically for the Z22, that protects the screen.

There is a method to opening it easily. I hold it downward in my left hand, between my thumb and index finger at the "top", supporting it with my little finger at what is now the "bottom", and press on the upward corners of the case. This relaxes the clasp and the thing opens easily.

It's way overpriced and won't look good for long. But, as far as I'm concerned, it's job is to protect the Z22. I'll dump this case as soon as somebody produces a good looking, highly functional, leather case that does the same without adding too much bulk. For now, this is good interim protection for a device I don't want to replace yet. Having broken two PDA screens in the last five or seven years, I'd hate to do that again.

I was hesitant to purchase this protective case as it wasn't very chic looking, but am glad I did. It certainly gives piece of mind in protecting my Z22. The Z22 snaps right in and is simple to manuever once you get used to opening it correctly (push the button in + up similtaneously.) I also suggest using screen protectors for the Z22 if you are concerned about scratching the screen with the stylus in a fervor entering information.

Two things to note:

1. You really cannot "use" the stylus or navigation buttons while the case is closed, as I believe the product description leads one to believe. I may have misunderstood, but wanted to clarify if others thought the same.

2. Unfortunately, this product does scratch easily itself (better the case than the Z22). My suggestion is that you consider using a wristlet or small pocket change wallet in addition to the Air Case. I thought it might be too much, but found it was easy to use the wristlet for those "caught off guard while using the Palm" moments, like your name being called at the Dr.'s office, or shopping and needing to check the list constantly.

Overall, worth the price and meets the need.

I gotta say, I love the Z22 "Air Case". It is so much better than that damn "Flexi Case" that comes with the Palm.

It is easy to get to my stylus as well as charge. The opening of the case is quite simple and I can't see what everyone else was talking about when they said it was hard to open.

In fact, this case is so easy to use and protects my palm so well, my brother (who is now the proud owner of a Z22 himself) is buying himself one to protect his palm better than the flexi case he has on it now.

I see nothing wrong with this product. I feel comfortable knowing my palm is safe inside this case and will not get all scratched up while bouncing around my purse or my pocket.

I like to take my z22 everywhere I go but being a guy it ends up in my pocket with my cell phone, keys, change, pencils.... ect. So I was constantly worried about the screen getting destroyed, but i also didnt want to get a bulky case that would make the z22 to big to fit in my pocket. Thats what makes this case perfect. It only adds a few mm to the size and weighs close to nothing. Unlike other cases I have seen the lid closes snugly against the top of the pda so you dont have to worry about a rouge pencil or key getting past the case and into the screen. It feels cheap by its self but once its on the pda it feels sturdy. It definetly give's peace of mind and for under $15 it was definetly worth it.

Its not hard to open once you learn the trick to it. You press straight in on the latch and then lift up. Just lifting up will take alot of effort to open. I have it down now were I can open easily it with one hand, Pressing in with my thumb then flicking the lid open.

To get the pda out there is a button cut out of the back, looks like a rectangle missing a side. You pull back the lip holding the bottom part of the pda in, and press the button up and it will pop out.

This item is not a kit. It is the white part only of the picture with an instruction book. To use it, you would have to buy a compatable part, the part at the back shown in black with the cord. Apparently this is a replacement head for a commercial scanner or some other use where the back part plugs into the front white part. It is useless by itself and the cables I found that might work with it are well over $40.00. If you want a scanner for personal use, you do not want this. I know it says NO CABLE, but it also says it is a kit and shows a power cord and there is no further description, so I took a chance. There was no problems with receiving and returning the order.

Nokia Leather Case

I am kind of a old schooler. I need a new phone but I like the one I have. I couldn't find me a new Holster for my Nokia phone and found it here on Amazon. I'm happy to finally get a sturdy leather cover that perfectly fits the Nokia 6255i phone I have, however the outside readout and the lens have no plastic covering a defect? Not sure. If the display and camera lens had a cover I would give it 4.5 stars. Kept the cover and slipped plastic covers (that stick to the readout and camera edge) underneath the leather case.

The case is stiff (as cowhide is) on the outside and has thick clear plastic on the inside that covers about half of the upper portion of the screen and half of the lower portion of the keyboard with no problem for dialing numbers or accessing the buttons on the sides. The leather cover does block the back speaker, however there seems to be only a slight distortion blockage of sound.

The one thing that does bother me is the lack of cover on the bottom of the phone where the data jack is I worry about dust getting in there thus the minus half a star.

I haven't tried out the belt clip yet, but the plastic parts look very sturdy and have a strong clip.

The seller service was couteous, fast and effective so no complain there. I'm also happy with all the other accessories I purchased with them so I'll use them again. When I complained about this product they quickly sent free-of-charge a new one, not even asking me to send the old back (which would have been silly given the cost).

However, when it comes to this product it has 2 major flaws:

1) the electrical (EM) insulation/power converter must have an issue. When plugging the charger to my phone and at the same time playing music on the car stereo (tried 2 ways: through a jack in my car and an FM transmitter in my wife's car so it's not a car or connection issue), the static was so bad I could not use it. This meant that my goal of being able to use my phone for entertainement purposes while ensuring it won't discharge would not be possible with this charger

2) the second charger would not even retract completely (maybe 10cm left out, 4 inches) after the firs use.

I had one of these in my car to charge my LG Lotus for about a year. It worked pretty well, both in charging and retracting the cord. However, the wire is very thin. Although this is convenient and unobtrusive, it presents a certain fragility. The part where the cord secures internally to the plug is not very strong. A handful of times my phone fell off a place where I had it charging on the dashboard, tugging at the end of the charging cord. After the last time, the charger no longer works properly. The connection is sporadic, so I have to fiddle with it to get it charging. But even with the phone showing that it is charging, very little power actually gets into the phone. I suspect that only a thin filament of wire is still making a connection, enough to show charging is taking place but not enough to transfer sufficient power for proper charging. It's basically useless now.

I guess it lasting for about a year for less than $4 invested is not a bad deal (I bought mine off eBay). Still, it's a bit ridiculous that the maker didn't strengthen the cord connection to the plug. The investment would have been about $0.25 worth of extra reinforcement material.

Transcend 1 GB 80x SD Flash Memory Card

I got this 80X SD Card for my Canon SD450, and it's working great. I researched a lot about high speed SD cards and found this the best value for money. Also, I compromised with a 1 GB card because I think it's quite enough.

I have used several cameras (using SD, XD cards or sony's memory stick), and each time I have been transferring the pics there is a very long pause. NOT anymore! On a USB 2.0, transferring the first 150 pictures (each 2+ MB) from my camera to my computer took less than a minute.

For those of you who don't know 80X equals 80 X 150KB = about 12 MB per second speed. I am sure faster cards will give better performance but I don't think you need anything faster than this for the money you pay. Also, shooting using the burst mode (taking 15 pictures in less than 8-10 secs) was a breeze. I researched a lot for these cards and I think this is a good deal. I bought it from one of the outside vendors at Amazon (thememstore) and they gave me good service for a good price.

After I used the 1GB PNY SD card to replace the SanDisk 256MB one for my Minolta Dimage Xt camera, I noticed the battery life dropped so much. At first, I thought it might take more power to write files to a 1GB card so that all SD cards would be the same to my small camera. Therefore, I gave up the 1GB PNY card. After my friend told me the low power consumption cards would make the different. I tried this Transcend 1GB SD card. It turns out, not only it takes so much less power than the PNY one, but also is the speed so much faster. It's amazing!

Value, size, speed and quality are all good, but you have to know what you need to know if this is the right card for you.

VALUE

First of all, it's priced well for a fast card (12/2007). There are a lot of slower cards out there with more capacity or sized similarly for a bit less, but $18 for an 80x 1GB card isn't bad. Note the value equation (Price versus capacity & speed) is sure to improve in the next 6-12 months.

SIZE

With regards to size, 1GB (or more correctly 1gB**) is roughly a 10-12 minute VGA quality mjpeg/mov/avi video (or closer to 25+ min in mpeg4/divx) or anywhere from 250-300 very high quality (e.g. very low compression 2:1) pictures. For me, it's a good compromise between usable size and safety large enough for a photo album but not all the pics in 1 album. I bought 2.

SPEED

Now, about the speed, 80x means 80 times the basic read/write speed of 150,000 bits per second (the old audio CD speed standard). Cards that don't claim a speed usually run at less than 20x speed (like 4-8x) for slow applications like MP3 players or data storage. Digital cameras and video need higher speed cards because they have to transfer so much data to clear their working memory to achieve fast burst/follow-up shots and smooth video.

80x speeds will let you take about 3 very high quality pics per second in a 5mp camera, 2.5 fps 6mp, 2 fps 7mp. Some cameras can go faster than this, like 3 fps until the card is full of 7mp pics, but a slow card means lower fps. If you need faster speeds, consider Transcends 150x cards also well priced.

QUALITY

Lastly, I've had no bad cards from Transcend so I have to rate them highly.

OTHER INFO

Some others brands have some attractive features like built-in USB contacts (no adapters!), but it'll cost you (more than double).

SD-HC capacities (greater than 2GB) are offered, but the Class 6 rating (40x or greater) is pretty slow so I'll wait until they have Class 12 or something. Note not all devices support SDHC, but most new high megapixel digital cameras should.

* 7mp cameras with high-speed burst modes may not reach full burst speeds with 80x cards, consider higher speeds if this is important to you.

** It's the old GB (1024 * 1024 * 1024 = 1,073,741,824 Bytes) versus gB (1,000,000,000 Bytes) labelling issue. Probably started with the hard drive manufacturers, but don't quote me on that.

OVERALL

Good cards for my needs and for most point-and-shoots out today.

I bought this stylus to use with an Acer W700 tablet and while it works, I don't really use it too much anymore. I was used to using my finger on the touchscreen but after buying MS Office and learning how to use OneNote, I wanted something more precise to write with than my finger.

At first I tried a stylus my mother was using with her iPad and while it worked okay for tapping on the screen, the tip was too soft to be precise when taking notes in OneNote (lowercase E's were very hard to write). After some searching here on Amazon I found this stylus made by Boxwave and decided to give it a try.

I was very eager to use it when it showed up but after some time I realized this wasn't the stylus for me. The tip is harder than the previous stylus and while it is more precise, it loses contact with the screen and my letter strokes have breaks in them (even when I press very firmly on the screen). Needless to say, this makes it very hard for OneNote to convert my writing to text. I tried cleaning the screen numerous times and always kept the tip pressed firmly to the screen but the skipping behavior continued.

The stylus looks very nice and includes a headphone adapter to keep it attached to your tablet or phone but my experience in OneNote keeps it firmly placed in my stylus holder 99% of the time. Much like the stylus I borrowed, it's great for tapping on the screen but writing is very hit or miss. Considering I bought it to write, I just can't recommend it for that purpose. My hunt for a good stylus continues so if you can make a recommendation, please leave a comment!

Unisen iPazzPort Voice Commander KP-810-18V 2.4Ghz Mini Wireless Keyboard/Touchpad/Learning IR Remo

Two things to note:

1) It does not have a Laser Pointer. There are some pictures presented as this model that look like it does, but the spot for the Laser pointer on the KP-810-18V that I received from Unisen USA, is used to connect the headset.

2) The mic in the head set seems useless.

The mic on the device works great with speech recognition software like search in Google Chrome and the speaker works great if you hold the device like a phone. The head phones on the headset work great. The keyboard and track pad work great as does the IR remote. This is a well made, well designed product and works great with my Mini Barebones Entertainment PC which has an IR receiver. I can turn on the PC, put it to sleep and wake it from sleep with the IR remote that comes on this device. More details about the PC are below.

I purchased a Jetway Mini-Top Barebones PC, Model# JBC700C9JG-H61-BW, Part# HBJC700C9JG-H61-BW, direct from Jetway as no one I could find sells this model. I will say it's an awesome little PC with MCE IR, a slim optical drive bay, an nVidia GT520M GPU with 1GB dedicated VRAM, an Intel chipset where you add a 2nd GEN Core i CPU (Sandy Bridge), support for 8GB RAM, an eSATA/eSATAp port and USB3as the more unusual features compared to other small PCs especially for the price. The only downside I see is the lack of USB ports. 2 USB2 on the back unless you count the USB in the eSATA port and 2 USB3 in the front. I added the USB2 hub below to add more USB ports and mounted it to the side of the PC with Scotch Reclosable Fasteners, see below. I'll let you look up more about this PC as it has nothing more to do with this review.

MiniPC:

I had high hopes for this device connnected to a dedicated Windows 7 Ultimate PC running Windows Media Center & XBMC for using to enjoy navigatting amongst the programs for media and occasional webpage viewing on my TV. MAJOR PROBLEM/DEVICE FLAW: The built in mousepad with the usual (push to click) functionality and unfortunately can't be disabled which I don't understand for the life of me since it also has two seperate buttons for left click/right click beneath it is WAY TOO SENSITIVE in making this not only a highly frustrating device to use but impossible for navigation as designed in my opinion. Maybe others have had better success with it if not reliant for whatever reason on being able to navigate ala mouse style and press to select isn't an issue but this totally ruins it for me. Otherwise this seems like a high tech end device and it's functionality I'm sure is second to non if it only worked right OR had an adjustment to either make the sensitivity less disturbing or disable the pad always wanting to press to click when you merely touch upon it to move the mouse on screen. Luckily the vendor has worked diligently with me and has given me a refund. I rate this product overall a D-

Everything works well with this. Distance from the laptop is decent and the function of the keys is great. Just be careful when you are charging the item. The port on this unit has a connection that is flimsy and only slightly glued in. So be careful when you connect your USB cable to it. Any sudden movement and snap it goes. Yes it did snap on me.

The only downfall this product has in my opinion is that the instructions are translated from japanese to english. As a result, the instructions aren't grammatically adjusted and a bit difficult to follow. Luckily there's a youtube video floating around to show you how to program the tv (or anything IR) remote.

The range is pretty decent. My livingroom and bedroom aren't the biggest in the world, so I stay within 15 feet of the receiver, and unless I'm moving around with the remote in my pocket, the signal for the audio doesn't cut out.

Here's one of the most awesome features:

You can use this as a phone.

How? If you have gmail, you should be able to call people right from your gmail chat window. Make sure your audio out (under control panel > audio > ) is selected for your iPazzPort, and voila: Call anyone in the US from your gmail page FOR FREE and hold the iPazzPort up to your face and you are now using a phone.

Also plugging in your headphones is awesome. Basically turns your headphones into a wireless headset; which is perfect for watching something on your HTPC late at night without worrying about the volume.

The trackpad works just fine. It could be slightly more precise but it's not worth complaining about.. definitely not a dealbreaker. The keyboard takes some getting used to because the trackpad to the right makes letters on that side of the keyboard a little hard to reach with your thumbs, but againnot a dealbreaker. It's perfect for HTPC owners. The backlight is perfectly clear. Everyone that enters your home and sees this item will be blown away. Definitely beats having a long distance wireless keyboard & mouse for an HTPC.

All in all, this item is a must-have for HTPC owners.

I recently bought this Unisen iPazzPort KP-810-18VR Wireless mini keyboard. It works quite nicely as a wireless touchpad mouse and keyboard. Keyboard has reddish / orange color backlight, which is ideal for using in the dark while watch TV. The touchpad mouse has both left and right buttons and works well. Also you can reconfigure the direction of touchpad so that you can rotate the device to portrait orientation. The one I have also has learning IR remote and audio capability. The build quality is very nice as well.

However, I have a major issue with this thing waking up my HTPC every night. There is no "Power Management" setting in the device properties in Windows 7 for this device, so I can't uncheck the box "allow this to wake up PC". I also went through all the available BIOS setting, disabled all wakeup from USB activities. But this thing still wakes up my HTPC every night! E-mail and web request to the manufacture got no response, so this ends up a 3-star rating.

Penpower SWPSBTK1EN Wireless Portable Pen Scanner and Translator

The documentations is useless and when I contacted the company via email i have yet to receive an answer. I have tried the device with Vista and Xp Pro. I have been able to use it with the USB connected but I paid more to have the Blue Tooth capability. The company support is non-existent. I would not recommend this product.

This is a great scanner when you use it with USB connected to a computer, but the Bluetooth connection to an Android phone works less than 10% of the time. I wrote the company and suggested that they make the scanner work with USB connected to a smart phone, for a more reliable connection. They said that they will consider my suggestion. If they do this, this pen will be a powerful tool and I will gladly change my review to 5 stars!

rooCASE Neoprene Super Bubble Sleeve Case for Acer Aspire One AO751h-1893 11.6-Inch (Black / Red)

This case was absolutely perfect until the zipper on the small pouch broke soon after the case arrived. The case fits the Acer Aspire One 11.6 perfectly, and is really attractive. It also protects the computer very well. I love everything about the case except the zipper breaking. I don't know if the zipper breaking was a result of a poor design, or a manufacturing anomaly.

Amazon processed the return effortlessly. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try this same case again, and test my luck with the zipper, or if I'll try something different.

If I knew that my zipper problem was a fluke, I would give this case 5 stars and buy the same one again in an instant. If I knew it was a design flaw and prone to happen again, I would give it none. Since I'm unsure, I'll give it four for now, until I hear from other customers about their experiences with the zippers.

I really like this bag. It fits my samsung chromebook very well. This bag is a great size, not so clunky like a lot of other laptop bags, but with enough space for the essentials. I bought the Zoom 3049 external serial faxmodem to connect to a Digi 4 port serial-to-USB adapter on our faxserver. The Zoom 3049 seemed to have good reviews as a faxmodem, so I thought I'd buy one to test it out. The only problem that I have with the Zoom 3049 is the way the driver is installed. It will not recognize the serial ports on the USB adapter, and a manual installation is looking for an "inf" file (which the Zoom 3049 doesn't have). Older drivers have an "inf" file, but this one simply has an "exe" executable that contains "dll"s. The only thing that I could do was install it on the on-board serial port. Other than that, it's been pretty reliable.

I bought this modem specifically for use with our faxserver. I only bought one initially for testing because many "fax modems" don't always reset correctly everytime. We've only had this for a few months, but it's done a great job. I'm getting ready to buy another one.

I made the mistake of buying four MultiTech MT5634ZBA-USB fax modems a while back, and frequently had to disconnect/reconnect them to force a reset.

I would recommend the external Zoom 3049 as a fax modem.
