SimpleTech STI-CF/64 64MB Compactflash Card

SimpleTech STI-CF/64 64MB Compactflash CardHow many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The SimpleTech 64MB Compact Flash Card, like most 64MB cards, will store on average 71 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 53 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 32 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 25 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 20 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

Being that I only had the 8 MB that came stock with my camera the switch to the Simpletech 64MB cf card was a huge difference. I have always been happy with Simpletech products. My last purchase of the 64MB CF Card re-assured my faith in ST.

KaysCase Two Piece Detachable Multiple Angle Cover Case for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" inch Tablet, D

KaysCase Two Piece Detachable Multiple Angle Cover Case for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7' inch Tablet, Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 16 GBi have googled like crazy looking for a case! and always came back to this one! i looove that it detaches! and comes with a sylus holder and puts my kindle to sleep when i close it! great job !

I read many reviews and examined the features of most of the cases for my new Kindle Fire HD and this one, with the price, looked like a no brainer to try out. I was pleasantly excited to try it out and now it is my primary case. This can be a folded reader for morning email and news, close it up and the auto shut off is excellent for charging without taking it out of the case. At night, just detach the sleeve and you can read a book easily. This is also a rugged case that encloses the device, not just the corners. The look for me in black is very professional.

Buy KaysCase Two Piece Detachable Multiple Angle Cover Case for Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" inch Tablet, D Now

I have been looking for quite some time for a decent case for my new Kindle. I read so many reviews, compared so many cases and narrowed it down to three. I would go back and forth comparing. I wanted two things in particular, a detachable case and one that folds back cover to cover. It's very easy to detach using the velcro. You can charge your device with the case closed, it has three positions to view horizontally. The color is just as shown in picture. I like the magnetic close and the auto on and off when case is opened or closed.

it does seem a little too bulky but if I separate the detachable piece it perfect. best thing is once detached the smaller piece has a strap, which is perfect for me to hold while travelling on public transportation.

Belkin F8U1500 IR Universal Wireless Keyboard

Belkin F8U1500 IR Universal Wireless KeyboardI have been using pda's for 6 years and most people use them because they aren't sitting at a desk.My current one is the Ipaq 2210/2215 (love it). My first pda was the palm vIIx and I had their portable keyboard. The pda had to attach to it, but it always worked every key! Great for the hotel stay or any desk.

With this Belkin unit you first have to update your driver (go to the Belkin website). You may have to uninstall other keyboard software first. Some PDA's have the ability to turn the screen sideways in Word or Excel which is good. Mine doesn't and the only way to get it to line up is to sit my pda in the FLIMSY holder UPSIDE down. Trying to line up your pda to the infrared using the adjustable metal shield is difficult. Even when I turned my pda upside down half the keys wouldn't work. If you wasted enough time reading this then I may have saved you $$$ and headache. I won't even offer to sell mine.

I had to check the package to make sure we are all talking about the same keyboard here, as I have had a very different experience with this item.

I received it. I opened it. I added a battery, inserted the CD-Rom, installed the drivers and that was it. Works fine.

My PDA is an ipaq 1935, which is not too different from the 1940 mentioned below. The stand has a mirror that rotates on a arm to where the IR is located (on the side on this device). You don't need to lay it flat in landscape mode (which an ipaq 1935 doesn't naturally have) or anything like that. The CD-Rom contains drivers for both 2002 and 2003 operating systems. No other downloads are necessary or encouraged.

Clearly, the design has been improved.

The stand that holds the PDA is not sturdy enough to stay upright in a car crash or on horseback but I see nothing wrong with it. The keyboard may have larger or smaller keys than other designs but there's hardly a learning curve, you get used to it quickly. It allows me to type quickly and accurately.

Anyone using a compatible device that doesn't seem to work should take a good look in the mirror not at themselves, but at the one on the PDA stand. IR means light, so proper alignment is central to good performance. It swivels, it extends, it just takes a bit of common sense.

So, to sum up: the age of the reviews below indicate the keyboard must have been updated, because all the drivers are there and no strange instructions are provided or needed. It works, it's cheap, it lets you type on your PDA.

.

I took the keyboard out of the box, installed a AAA battery (which is supposed to last 360 hours i.e. 45 days of steady typing), then installed the keyboard software on my Sony Clie SJ22. I got it working with the Palm-based word processor WordSmith within 10 minutes. There is no quick start document so you must install the software and manual and print it out. It is about 70 pages and covers all the function keys, installation, etc.

The instructions are a little vague about initial setup. You cannot just position the keyboard anywhere but rather there is a stand that allows you to place your PDA almost vertical and then you must adjust the mirror so that your PDA can receive the signals from the IR light on the keyboard that is above the 5 key. Don't worry if the IR light bulb on the keyboard does not appear to be on. Infrared light is not visible to the naked eye.

Once the unit is set up you press both of the shift keys at the same time and if and when the PDA receives a signal, it displays a small red icon at the bottom of the screen. If you don't get the red icon, reposition the mirror and/or the PDA stand. Once you see the red icon, you are ready to type. However, you can't be moving the stand or the PDA around or you can lose the connection.

If you ever find you can't get the connection, make sure to go into the keyboard software and enable the keyboard. I pressed the function key combination to rotate the screen and since WordSmith does not support rotation, the unit froze and the Belkin keyboard software (on the Clie) was not enabled after the reset so I went back and enabled it and it was okay.

There is no need to pound the keyboard. You can just touch the keys and they respond nicely. I use my right thumb but you can also use your left thumb for a space. I have fairly large hands but am quickly getting use to the keys. I would say I can type about 80-85 % as fast as I can with a regular keyboard. With a little practice I am sure I will be close to 100%.

The keys and their placement is much the same as the standard QWERTY keyboard but of course all the keys are a little small. As with other keyboards, the F and J keys have small protrusions which allow you to find the home keys without looking.

The space bar is split down the middle, which gives your two space bars.

Each key is about 1/2 " by 1/2 ". The unit (unfolded) is 10 ½ by 3 ¾ and a little more than ½ inch thick. It folds in half to 5 ¼ inches long and weighs in at about a½ a pound, however, that does not bother me as It feels quite sturdy.

There are 4 special shortcut keys on the right hand side which bring up the TODO the ADDRESS and APPOINTMENT Calendar and MEMOS

Together with the Function key, these keys also give you Find, Home, Calculatir, and the drop down menus from the application you are in. If there is more than one drop down menu you can use the arrow keys to navigate through them.

There are also many other keys that work together with the function key and which are accessed by pressing the FN key + one other keys which do the following: DONE, DELETE, PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN, CANCEL, OFF, OK and TODAY/NEW and a few other things.

The combination FN + * toggles the Clie's screen between mono mode and color.

The keyboard comes with a three year warranty which is quite impressive.

I also want to point out that before I purchased this unit at amazon.com, I sent a note to Belkin technical support to ask them if the Sony Clie SJ 22 was compatible with their keyboard as someone had posted a review saying it was not.

Support emailed me the next day and said it was compatible, and that the person who wrote the review must have had the wrong driver.

I don't think that was her problem. The stand and he mirror must be set up properly. A battery must be put in. Software must be installed on the PC and then synced to put the keyboard software on the PDA. I used the software that came on the CD Rom that came with the keyboard.

There are a few drawbacks that may or may not be unique to the Sony Clie.

1) The caps lock seems to go on from time to time and I am not sure whether that is because I am inadvertently touching it by accident or not.

2) Every now and then a key starts repeating but if you press any key when it does this, it will stop the repeating. This may be the fault of the WordSmith program. In fact both may be, I am not sure.

(Downloading and installing the latest driver did not correct these two anomalies).

I give it 4 stars because of the 2 drawbacks I mentioned above. I can live with them because the only thing I need my stylus for anymore is to run a non standard Palm program.

Belkin's website documentation is wildly out of date and muddled so it was difficult to know if this keyboard would work with an Axim X51V PPC with ActiveSync 4.2 and WM5.0. But, after a lot of effort, I found it did. (I downloaded the Windows CE 2005 driver). Belkin have really shot themselves in the foot over all this...

Although the PPC stand is very flimsy (the Stowaway one looks much better, and apparently has a better arrangement for beaming) the Belkin has the great advantage of a proper row of number keys at the top. It's a neat little keyboard, and all in all I am very satisfied. Leaving aside the compatibility list and driver problems, I can't understand what all the whingeing is about.

I'm using this keyboard with a Zodiac that defaults to portrait mode and it works fine. It's VERY compact and portable, tho, some sort of slip case would have been a nice touch. Battery life on a Zodiac is definitely shortened so, be sure to disable the keyboard drivers when you're not using it. I even managed to find free third party Dvorak layout drivers for it.

  • Lightweight and comfortable, the BlackBerry Active Stereo Headset is designed to cut out wind and background noise to ensure great sound quality when you're on the go.
  • The headset features an easy-to-use control button, so you can answer, end or mute phone calls and pause or play music, all with a single touch. Additional controls on your smartphone allow you to rewind, fast forward, skip between songs, change volume and more.

I had an almost identical headset to this one which worked great until it managed to get run over in the driveway (even then it still worked with dangling wires and mangled earpiece). So, when I found this headset at such a good price I decided to buy again.

I prefer this over a bluetooth because the call quality on this wired headset is outstanding. It's also lightweight so no fatigue wearing it for hours at a time. Plus, it's stereo so I can listen to music from my Blackberry when not on a call. Everything you could want.

I have been talking with people in other countries who tell me I sound like I'm right in front of them in person. The sound is great, comfort is ok maybe not as comfortable as some others, but I can still wear it for an hour or two on a long call and not notice it. After a couple hours, I will take it out unless I'm watching a movie on the plane or something.

Biggest complaint is that the mute button on my headset does not work...I found this out the hard way on a work conference call! Luckily just some extra background noise for the other participants. Well, I quickly learned to just push mute on my Blackberry and not rely on this one. I also would say that the headset doesn't have any soft foam liners for your ears, this might help the comfort level. But many of us with ipods or other headsets might have extras to use for this.

Overall a great product if you care about call quality.

It's hard to find good headphones, and I'm someone who scours the reviews to try to find the best rated overall. This is definitely one that I feel confident about & will continue to order as they wear out as my entire family uses their own pair of these daily so they get a lot of use. Usually they don't break, they get lost or otherwise human error.

I ordered 2 pairs because the price was so low. They are very good stereo headphones sound quality is great when listening to MP3s or when listening to a phone call. the microphone does produce a bit of a 'tinny' sound to the person on the other end of the phone (I left 2 voicemails for myself first with the headset on then without it, and I could definitely tell the difference) but not so much that the other party cannot hear or understand. the earbuds have little foam covers which are pretty difficult to get onto the earbuds without damaging the foam (especially if you have big clumsy fingers like me). Overall a very good product.

These earbuds work perfectly and the sound is surprisingly good! My only complaint is the earbuds are a tad big for my ears, but the foam covers help them to stay in. I also really like how the cord is much longer than most earbuds. This helps when I'm at the gym and I can set my phone in the holder and not have to worry about it flying off the machine because I tug on the cord too hard!

A friend of mine purchased these, too, and accidentally put them through the wash. They still worked just fine!

You can't beat the product for the price. Clear sound and the mute button is convenient. The ear buds could stand to be smaller so they sit in the ear more comfortably.

Kodak micro SD 4 GB Class 2 Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter KSDMI4GBPSBNAA

Kodak micro SD 4 GB Class 2 Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter KSDMI4GBPSBNAAI am quite pleased with this little Kodak micro SD 4 GB Class 2 Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter KSDMI4GBPSBNAA, so much so that I just ordered a second one (it is my opinion that one should always carry a spare data card 'just in case').

I use it in my Kodak Easyshare Touch M5370 16 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom, HD Video Capture and 3.0-Inch Capacitive Touchscreen LCD (Blue) and it works perfectly. (I have had this camera, an excellent one by the way, for over a month and have used it extensively.)

While the Micro-SD card is REALLY tiny in size (and one has to exercise care so that one does not break it or lose it), it is actually quite good. In this particular camera (16 MP), it can hold 749 pictures taken at the largest size (highest quality) or 29 minutes of 720p video (and much more time if taking video at VGA 640x480 resolution). I am amazed that something so small can hold so much.

It comes with its own SD adapter so that it is easy and convenient to insert the card into the adapter and then insert the whole thing into computers which have a built-in SD slot (most of them do nowadays) to transfer the pictures.

In fact, you can actually use this card in ANY camera which uses either 'regular' SD cards OR Micro SD cards. In the first case, if your camera uses 'regular' SD cards, you place the Micro SD card into the adapter and then insert the entire device into your camera and in the second case, if your camera uses Micro SD cards, you merely just use the Micro SD card itself. This makes for a very useful and versatile card and allows it to be used in ANY camera (or device) which uses any type of SD card.

Thus there is nothing else necessary to buy and you can see that the low price for this entire device is comparable to other cards which may not include the adapter. This card is even supplied with a sturdy plastic case which holds both parts securely and conveniently.

So for that particular Kodak camera I mentioned as well as for any other camera which takes a Micro SD card (or 'regular' SD cards), I give this one my highest recommendation.

I purchased two of these this round. One for my camera and another for my cell phone! They work just as they should!

Photo Lid Organizer For Pelican 1600 1610 And 1620 Cases 4 Slip-In Pen Pockets

Photo Lid Organizer For Pelican 1600 1610 And 1620 Cases 4 Slip-In Pen PocketsThere are additional screw holes on this lid organizer to accommodate multiple cases. It fits in my Pelican 1620 case. If anyone cares, the tag attached to the organizer says, "Made in China." Nevertheless, I do plan on buying another one of these for my second 1620 case at a later date.

I love the lid top organizers for the pelican case. They help keep everything separated and secure. I have ordered many of these lid organizers for my pelican cases and love them. I did have one problem with this lid organizer that i am sure is not common but rather a quality control issue. My lid organizer was missing one of the sliders (the mechanism that locks and unlocks the to zipper sides)on one zipper. I've had to safty pins for the time being to secure one of the pockets. Regardless of this one issue I still highly recommend pelican lid organizers.

***UPDATE***

Seller read my review, contacted me, and offered me an exchange with no cost to me. That's good customer service. I received the new lid organizer in perfect condition. All zippers present and accounted for.

This lid came in quickly. I was surprised, happily so, that it attached to the 1620 with 6 screws. It also has the tape option, but I can't imagine that would be terribly sturdy for the long run. I haven't had a chance to move all of our supplies into it yet, but so far it seems like even more than what I expected. Great item.

Neck Genie Elite Neck Line Slimmer

Neck Genie Elite Neck Line SlimmerThe science behind this product seemed to work for me. I'm a full figured gal, and it really shows on my face first when I fluctuate around the same 20 lbs. Using this product seemed to firm up my jawline and double-chin area so that it looks like I'm consistently in the lower end of my weight-fluctuation spectrum, maybe even a bit less.

However, I got this product AND the 3-spring "PY Neckline Slimmer" (also on Amazon) at the same time. I recommend the PY Neckline Slimmer more because the highest tension spring provides more resistance than the highest adjustable setting on the Genie Elite. After awhile, you spin and spin trying to adjust and it simply will not provide more resistance.

I brought this for my fiancee. It works wonders if used daily @ least 4 sets of 10 reps. I have seen the change on her. She uses it every night before going to bed. I recommend it to anyone..............

The pictured and described unit is what I ordered, but what I got was a unit that was a different color with interchangeable coils, the unit being difficult to take apart and put in the coils. I specifically ordered this paarticular neck and jaw toner so I didn't have to mess with changing the coils. A huge disappointment but too inconvenient to send back right now. This is the shipper's fault.

JustCase Slim Apple iPad 2 Smart Cover Companion Compatible Back Case with Matching Color (Tan)

JustCase Slim Apple iPad 2 Smart Cover Companion Compatible Back Case with Matching ColorI bought this early as an iPad 3 case. Wasn't sure if it was going to fit, and it does but you can tell that the case wasn't quite made for the iPad 3. The fit is tight, and it doesn't quite "snap" in place like it did with the iPad 2.

I bought it for the sole purpose of an interim case before I decide on what I really want and since there aren't many new cases out for New iPad at the moment. It will serve as just that, and will go back to an iPad 2 case after I get a proper fitting case.

One thing I didn't realize about this case is that the speaker grill really reduces the sound coming out of the iPad (as opposed to a cover that doesn't have a grill over the speakers). So beware of that.

I knew the new iPad was 1mm thicker but I didn't think that would affect things THAT much. I bought my JustCase cover in advance also like Robert (another Reviewer who said his fit great), but when it arrived today I could NOT get the top left corner (near the headphone jack) to snap securely. It seemed to be literally just a hair too small, and regardless of what corner or side I slid in first, that top left corner would pop out once the iPad was in place. I got it to stay a couple times (seemingly) but you could see that the top left corner wasn't sitting securely, and it was sitting on the iPad like a loaded spring. They I tested it: I LIGHTLY tapped the case's corner at the trouble spot, and sure enough the case popped off at that corner. To be fair to Robert who stated his worked, there is a slight tolerance in almost all manufactured goods, especially those with soft material, so it very well could be that his was on the larger end of the tolerance measurement and that's why it fits. It almost gives me confidence to order a few of these and keep the one that works.

I SO wish this cover worked, it is VERY nice, I can't get over how great it feels (and they put in a screen protector in the package!). IF YOU ARE AN iPad 2 OWNER, GET THIS COVER. When it was in place, it worked very well with the Apple Black Leather Smart Cover.

For the record, I also ordered the i-UniK Slim Apple iPad 2 Case Barely There Smart Cover Compatible/Companion Skin Snap On Partner (Black), and it was cheapy plastic and did not fit AT ALL. I really really like the JustCase cover, I am hoping there will be a true iPad 3 (I know, it isn't called that) cover made by JustCase.

For iPad 2 owners, it is a 5 star case, I'm not deducting a star because it doesn't fit the iPad 3, that's not JustCase's fault. In fact, gripe time: with all of the accessories out there, there was NO WAY Apple could have kept the case size identical?? Oy...

UPDATE 3/17/2012, 12:30am MST: After posting this review, I wrote JustCase directly through their profile page here on Amazon and explained my experience with the iPad 3. They wrote back within three hours! And not just "thanks for letting us know", the CS rep actually wrote a long reply explaining the testing they've done. They've seen that 9 times out of 10 the case fits just like Robert (the previous reviewer) had stated. Therefore I'm going to order another one and see how it works. I'll be back with the outcome. I sure like this company, great product and great customer service.

UPDATE 3/22/2012: The second cover I ordered arrived yesterday, and lo and behold, it FITS. It's still snug and that top left corner isn't sitting completely flat and snug, but it's not popping off. In fact, I plucked it a couple times to try and get it to pop off like it was a loaded spring, and it stayed put. It even took a bit of effort to get it to come loose when I DID go to take it off. So the good news is that a few of you might get a "bad" one but the Customer Service from this company is so spot on that you'll have a quick replacement, and being the cover has such a nice feel, I say it's worth it. I found the best way to attach the cover is to slide the iPad3 in so the long vertical left side goes in first (iPad facing up at you). Then keep your thumb on that top left corner as you snap the right side in.

Enjoy!

This is the best iPad 2 back cover I have used. It fits very well, has all ports open, and they even dig out little holes for the speaker, much better than other back cases I have used. Most importantly, it works perfectly with the iPad 2 Smart Cover for front protection. Beautiful matte finish, very smooth and feels good to hold. I purchased one in black for myself and am going to buy another one as a gift for my daughter, but haven't decided which color to get her yet, actually I like all of the colors.

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene Sleeve Case for Acer Aspire One AO751h-1893 11.6-Inch (Black / Pink)

rooCASE Super Bubble Neoprene Sleeve Case for Acer Aspire One AO751h-1893 11.6-InchThis case was absolutely perfect until the zipper on the small pouch broke soon after the case arrived. The case fits the Acer Aspire One 11.6 perfectly, and is really attractive. It also protects the computer very well. I love everything about the case except the zipper breaking. I don't know if the zipper breaking was a result of a poor design, or a manufacturing anomaly.

Amazon processed the return effortlessly. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try this same case again, and test my luck with the zipper, or if I'll try something different.

If I knew that my zipper problem was a fluke, I would give this case 5 stars and buy the same one again in an instant. If I knew it was a design flaw and prone to happen again, I would give it none. Since I'm unsure, I'll give it four for now, until I hear from other customers about their experiences with the zippers.

This was supposed to be the battery for my Tom Tom One XL. It did not even start my GPS from the start. I have tried a number of times to charge it, even for extended periods, and it still would not start or run my machine.

I get about 50 minutes on a full charge, very similar to what the original Tom Tom battery held when it was new.

Installation was relatively easy. You will need a special allen type wrench for the rear screws. Also, since the replacement battery is smaller than the original, a piece of thick two-sided tape would be helpful to hold the battery in place (I used regular electrical tape).

If you need directions to replace the battery, there are a few helpful videos on that popular video site. Search for "replace Tom Tom One XL battery".

After about a year of relatively light use, the battery died.

After a number of years of faithful service our TomTom One battery gave out. I purchased this battery for a very reasonable price however I felt the shipping charges were a tad bit high. It is actually just a bit smaller than the battery it replaces. The packaging indicates that it is intended for use in a PDA. The connector is compatible and plugs right in. The rating on this Lithium Ion battery is 1300 mHr exceeding the 1100 mHr battery that came with the unit. There were no markings indicating the composition of the old battery but I do not believe it was a Lithium Ion Battery. It came about 50% charged and unless it does not come up to a full charge (which I do not believe will happen) I am very pleased with this unit. I hope this will help.

You will need a small torx driver to remove the cover and then with a little 'prying' it separates.

Pretty easy to swap it out and the screen protector does a good job (you can hardly tell it's on).

K-byte Zipit Wireless Instant Messenger - Blue

K-byte Zipit Wireless Instant Messenger - BlueThe ZipIt Wireless Messenger is the best instant messaging device I have ever used. The ability to connect to any open access point is one of its strongest strengths I can use it out in the park, at many local resturants, and at school. The software is very easy to use. On the device's first boot, it walks you through a simple setup proceedure that involves entering your IM names and passwords. Afterwards, every time the unit is turned on it automatically looks for an open access point, connects to it, and logs on your IM services. If it does not find an open one, or only finds one with WAP, a dialogue appears asking for the ESSID of the base station you want to connect to or for the WAP key, respectively.

Your buddy list can be shown or hidden by the big "Z" logo key just below the screen's hinge. Messaging someone on your list is as simple as selecting their name with the arrow keys and hitting enter. If you have a large list of friends, you can begin typing their name, and it will automatically select the closesst match.

Chatting itself is very intuitive. If you recieve a message when you have no other conversations going, that message is displayed, along with the familliar bottom text field for you to type. If another message is recieved while you are chatting, a non-intrusive popup is displayed for a few seconds informing you of the new message. You can switch conversations by hittting the previous and next keys, or by hitting P1, P2, or P3 for the first three conversations. You can have up to 99 conversations going at once if that's not enough for you, then you need to seek the services of a professional. And of course, all the expected sound notifications are here buddies logging on and off, sending and recieving messages, etc.

Battery life is solid, with 4-6 hours in my experience depending on the power saving options. The power save option works with most newer access points, but some older ones won't let you connect with this option enabled so you will have to resort to turning that off.

Physically, the device is lightweight yet has a solid feel to its construction. The display lid has a latch on it to keep it closed, and the power button will not turn the unit on if the screen is down. The battery door is secured with a single phillips screw to ensure it is not accidentally released.

Nothing is perfect, however, and the ZipIt is no exception. My only gripe is relitively minor the keyboard has a bit of a learning curve for those who type very quickly. Essentially, the keyboard cannot handle more than one keypress at a time. If, for instance, you are typing the word "if", and your right thumb hasn't completely released the 'i' key before your left thumb hits the 'f' key, the 'f' key will not register. This may have been intentional, as it does allow for people with large thumbs to type (since key in the center of the thumb is depressed before the others, only the intended one registers), but if that was the case I would have liked to have an option to turn it off. At this point, it is not much of a concern to me as I have adjusted my thumb typing methods to compensate. Typing speed now feels acceptable.

Finally, a note to anyone who is interested in embedded Linux applications this device is a must! If you are willing to void the warantee, there are instructions on the net to replace the default firmware with an open Linux one, which can make the device infinately more useful. After playing with it using the original firmware for a week, I myself installed the OpenZipit firmware on the device. Now, in addition to instant messaging, I can use SSH to connect to my server at home and adminster it remotely, browse the web, compile applications, or even play Infocom games, wherever I have a WiFi connection. Multiple virtual terminals are supported as well, so you can effectively multitask. There is plenty of development interest in the device amoung the open source community as well, ensuring that adventurous geeks like myself will often find new ways to use our Zipits =)

Overall, this device should appeal to three primary crowds:

-Parents who want the family computer back after their teens constantly hog it to chat with friends

-Teens, who are tired of sharing the family computer just to chat

-Geeks interested in Embedded Linux who are looking for an inexpensive device to experament on.

If you fall into any of the above crowds, I cannot reccomend this product enough.

Bought this unit for my oldest daughter, turned it on and in less 2 minutes she was sending IM's through our wireless network. Unit is small and very transportable. Battery life is excellent, and its rechargeable! Keypad is responsive and in QWERTY format. Already got 2 more for my other children before the holiday crunch hits. I also looked at the Motorola IM Free (left a review there too), but you are "tethered" to a base station which may be acceptable for the home, but its no good away from a router/modem with an open port ie. McCafe, coffee shops , etc, plus Zipit is smaller than the IM Free. So far, Zipit quickly connects to any wireless network without additional software/hardware and seems hassle free, plus there is no monthly fee I have to pay. While wireless isn't in every place you go, it's heading that way pretty fast. Plus, many schools and colleges are wi-fi now so it can be used on campus as well.

normally your reviews hit the mark but I think you need a new wireless router this time or maybe you just got a bad unit because none of my units (3) are having the problems you describe. The range restrictions/connection issues you describe (you also had the same problems with the IM Free as far as range) are nonexistant in my units, and the unit does have a built in firewall contrary to your feedback. And for $50 you can get a portable wireless router to plug into your laptop or the hi-speed connection for on the road usage where no wireless network is readily available.

Zipit will also have an online firmware upgrade lets you downstream mp3 music right through Zipit, I'll be checking that out when it is available. Only downside I see is no backlit LCD display, but for the price/performance this is a steal. The two clinchers to me are true wireless capability and no additional service fee I don't have to choose either/or.

This thing is great. I use it at night when i am lying in bed or when i am just hanging around my house. it is great for when you want to talk to your friends but someone else is on the computer. the only thing i dont like is how there is not a light built or attached so if you are not near a lamp you can not see what is on the screen

Okay, on the plus sides:

Sturdy feel, lightweight, long battery life, long wifi range, good encryption compatability, lots of IM options, good keyboard.

It would have been a great gadget 100% except for the fact it has no backlight and it broke in less than a week. It probably would have lasted longer except for a drop off a table onto hard floor. Glass screen (should be using plastic by now) shattered in lower right corner leaving entire right side of screen unusuable. Lid switch also engadges for no reason, causing it to go into standby at random times. Had potential but durability and reliability are a bit of an issue. If you're careful, it's a great product.

I opened the package, read the two page instructions and hooked it up in about 4 minutes. Just getting this far was a an accomplishment for me! But the best part was that it actually works! The sound clarity and bass boost provides a noticeable difference in sound output. I recommend this product.

Dell Axim X50v - Handheld - Windows Mobile 2003 SE - 3.7" color TFT ( 480 x 640 )

Dell Axim X50v - Handheld - Windows Mobile 2003 SE - 3.7' color TFTI've also been using this device for a month and it meets every reasonable expectation. Compared to my old Toshiba 355, it is lightning quick, including ActiveSync connections (the Toshiba took several seconds, but this one connects near instantly), which is nice for quick syncs.

I've played DVD movies on it using the format provided by a pocket DVD conversion utility and they run great. Built-in storage isn't huge (80 MB), but considering I didn't even have that option on the Toshiba, it is a great addition.

What is hands-down the best addition to this PPC is the VGA screen. I use the device mainly for scanning through, reading, and storing research papers and books. Using RepliGo (as Adobe doesn't have the sense to release a VGA-compatible Reader), I can read long documents MUCH more comfortably than I ever could on my old PDA and without the mess of paper that comes with printing every one of them off. Not to mention I can pull up old materials for quick reference on-the-fly.

To give you an idea of how you could use the power of this device: I store 400 MB of music on the CF card, 180 MB of documents (including novels, scientific papers, and maps) and a single compressed 256 MB DVD movie on the SD card, and a satisfying ensamble of programs on the Built-In storage (I still have about 50 MB left, which I have been shaving off with hi-definition Today themes).

I use the Main Memory storage to house quick access to SlovoEd's exhaustive dictionary/thesaurus. I very rarely have trouble finding the meaning of a word (and in academia, you run into some doozies) quickly. This increases my speed for assimilating papers and books that use unfamiliar terms.

I use a bluetooth keyboard, so if I need to type something up on the bus, I can initialize the keyboard, start up Pocket Word, place the cursor where I want it, lock the screen input, put the PPC safely in my pocket, and type out my thoughts with the keyboard sitting on my lap. Before, constant bumps in the road imperilled my Toshiba as it rocked back in forth atop its plug-in keyboard. The bluetooth range is considerable so you can even type documents and messages on the PDA from across the room for parlor tricks if you so desire.

As the previous reviewer stated, wireless access is simple to use and works great.

EDIT:

Gosh how much can change in 3 years! This was great for its time but I really wouldn't recommend it anymore. Just get an iPhone! It does everything I mentioned in this review and more. You do have to pay a monthly fee but it is worth it.

Having used a myriad of PDA's (in various flavors of PPC/Palm) I can honestly say that this is among the best of the bunch if not the best I have used.

Onboard audio is good; no need for an outside program (for the most part if so, go get betaplayer [search google] as its a free program that will play pretty much any media file).

Storage is a bit on the shy side, yet with the dual capability of both SD and CF cards this really isn't a problem.

Wifi works good, I get signals all the time even in places where I probably shouldn't. Some theaters and grocery stores really need to ramp up their wireless security.

The screen is bright and sharp, running one of the true-vga programs makes for a neat change (especially with some of the enhanced calendar programs).

The first of two downsides to this PDA is that old programs that are not compatible with the new hardware yet you are going to run into this with any PDA eventually.

The second is the arguably slow IRDA port. It will work for browsing television but you will not want to replace your remote control with it.

Bluetooth is solid but I really don't recommend it for file transfer; there is a bug (arguable as to which end it is on) that can limit the file size or transfer capability.

I've been using the Dell for about 1 month. I think it's great. It run faster than my old Tungsten t5, and very rarely (only once that I know of) has had to be reset. I haven't lost any data. I like having the ability to change batteries, and it play movies like a dream. I do wish it had the palm style flip cover, and it is a bit of a pain using a card reader to load large files onto an sd card, but the device runs fine.

Overall, the x50v is a good PPC. Dual memory slots, a 3.7" VGA screen, and good self-contained audio make it a great solution for people who want to use it for both work and play.

Like another reviewer, I have been using my PPC to run encoded movies. I've run small encoded movies (390MB full length movies) and large encoded movies (700+MB). I've had absolutely no problems. The pictures are sharp and clear on the VGA screen, I have witnessed no lagging, and the sound is good. In fact, I've found that it's better to compress the video stream more than the audio stream because the fidelty of the x50v will pick up on sound compression very quickly.

I've never had any trouble transferring files to my x50v. As noted above, I've transferred files well over 700MB, MP3s of all sizes, and I've never lost a file along the way.

Bluetooth and WiFi work as expected and up to expectation. I wish the PDA's onboard software had included more options--such as direct sending of Notes or Tasks to mated cell phones instead of just Contacts.

The biggest downside? Weak battery. I would highly recommend the extended life battery if you want to go more than a few hours without recharging. Also, be aware that you're only getting 64MB of RAM (and you will want to make sure you don't install programs into that memory). The iPaq series sports twice as much RAM. Luckily, the x50v carries another 16MB in graphics processing which seems to help keep it moving.

Overall, I'm happy with the x50v. It's a good platform for PPC games, movies, music, and work applications. If you don't plan on watching movies or playing games, you might want to save the money and get the midline model. But if you want the additional entertainment functions, I would strongly recommend the "v" model.

We like the Dell Axim x50v. It does a lot of work for a device that easily fits in your shirt pocket. It is fairly intuitive when working with Microsoft and similar programs. The only caveat is we lose data. Occassionally we'll need a contact phone number and it's gone. Looking around, usually a whole swath of contacts have been cut, such as 40 people whose last names begin with "P." Oh, they're not gone permanently, they always reappear after a soft re-start but we have had to do this a dozen times in the 5 months we've had it.

The screen is clear, the memory sufficient for a huge database of contacts and prospects, and easy to use. Overall, it's a great value.

PDair Leather Case for Nokia N900 - Book Type (Black)

PDair Leather Case for Nokia N900 - Book TypeFits the Nokia N900 perfectly. Nice Quality. Nice magnetic clip. This case does not interfere with the use and capabilities of the N900. Worth the $28. It beats the $2 plastic covers hands down.

The product is alright as far as quality is concerned but doesn't fit my phone. It is because of the piece of plastic sticking out from the side of the case (which is there to keep the phone in place). It probably is a manufacturing defect but nevertheless makes the case useless for me.

The case fits great and looks cool at the same time. The free shipment took 2 weeks to arrive to Mexico, which is very reasonable if you're not in a rush. Accessories for the N900 are not easy to come by and this one is definitely worth it.

The case fits perfectly with the Nokia N900 and great quality. The phone does come out rather easily (my phone fell to ground, luckily it didn't cause any permanent damage) if you're not careful. I think this is one of the better phone cases there is out there and I'm definitely happy with the purchase. One thing is the clip tends to unscrew after a while, so be mindful about it and tighten it every once in a while. I've had mine unscrew at lest a handful of times since buying it. The shipments took a while so if you're in a rush, this might not be the vendor for you. If you don't mind the wait, it's worth it. Overall a great case.

My Lumia didn't fit in it and I had to give it away. Wouldn't fit an iPhone either. Perhaps my fault for assuming something you should never do that the920 would be the same size as a 900.

rooCASE Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case for Western Digital My Passport Essential 500GB Portable Hard Drive WDBACY5000ABL Pacific BlueThis case isn't the right size for me to believe it was made for My Passport hard drives, it's just a little bit too big (I'd say a little over an inch longer and a 1/2 inch wider than needed). With that being said, I still gave it four stars because it's cute, soft, and seems well made. The extra room doesn't bother me, and actually probably makes it easier to store the cord along with the hard drive.

This is a well made little case that my EHD fits in perfectly. It has an outside zippered pocket which makes it double as a cute little clutch.

Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android Tablet-Black

Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Amazon Kindle Fire 7-Inch Android Tablet-BlackI am very impressed by this case for the Kindle Fire for the price. The device fit securely and is well protected. There are openings for the charger and buttons and the cover is held closed by a magnetic strip inside of the case. All and all a very nice case for $12...

I guess you get what you pay for. I stuffed the Kindle Fire into it and practically had to use all my strength to get it in place so the flap would close. There is another flap that holds it in place on the bottom, but if I put that into the space behind the Kindle, the cover does not close either. Bad choice for a case cover. If I had to do it over again, I would spend more money and get one that is actually made for the Kindle Fire.
