Sony BCG34HLD4EN Cycle Energy Power Charger with 4 2500 mAh AA Batteries

Sony BCG34HLD4EN Cycle Energy Power Charger with 4 2500 mAh AA BatteriesThis set includes 4 AA cells Made in Japan for Sony by Sanyo, as well as a timed charger, NOT a smart charger as its similar looking Sony variants.

The Sony Power Charger can recharge 4 AAA or AA cells at a time. Unlike the Panasonic BQ-390 which I also used and reviewed, this Sony uses a timer to stop charging. The Panasonic BQ-390 has advanced circuitry inside to monitor charging through temperature, voltage drop, and the cell's internal resistance, so that you'll get more precise charging and less damage from overcharging of simpler chargers. Sony also offers a similarly advanced product, but this model is a cheaper timed model. It charges the 2100mAH cells for 8 hours straight, or 800 mAh AAA cells for 7 hours straight. If you charge a partially used cell, it will not detect when the cell reaches full charge, and might overcharge. It's best to charge a fully depleted cell with timed chargers.

This was the best deal I found on rechargable NiHM batteries and that too these are made in Japan by Sony. It has a capacity of 2300mAh.

There is one problem with this. This charger does not automatically shut off when the batteries finish charging. So the first time I charged them, I kept waiting for the indicator to go off and I realized after 18 hrs that they are not going to go off.

So, though the batteries are good the charger is not. I would suggest people to go with another sony rechargable model that sells here for just a few dollars more.

Buy Sony BCG34HLD4EN Cycle Energy Power Charger with 4 2500 mAh AA Batteries Now

This is a timed charger, but well matched to the supplied 2100mAh NiMH batteries. The manual recommends charging after a full discharge, so it may overcharge your partially depleted cell or an older cell with lower capacity. As long as you recharge a fully empty, ~2100mAh cell, it shall be fine.

The included cells, actually made by Sanyo-GE, are premium cells, and only surpassed by Sanyo's latest 2300mAh cells.

SONY has updated this package ("Sony Cycle Energy Power Charger with 4 2500 mAh AA Batteries") recently. It now looks quite different from what was once shown on the Amazon product description page. For example, the old charger is silver in color, while the new charger is white. But beside colors, they looked almost identical, and even share the same model number (BCG34HLD). So is this really a new and improved model, or just a simple cosmetic update?

According to all the older Amazon spotlight reviews, the old model is a timer-based dumb charger. I'm happy to report that this is no longer the case. The new model is actually a 'smart' charger, meaning that it monitors each battery's voltage independently during charging, and stops when each cell is fully charged. In fact, it is very nicely designed for such a value-priced charger. Here are some things I like about this charger:

+ Charges 1-4 AA/AAA cells individually no need to charge in pairs

+ Compact, one-piece design with fold-down AC plugs no need for power cords or wall adapters.

+ Low-profile (just 1.1" thick) so it fits in camera bags easily.

+ Accepts 100-240V universal voltage.

+ Bad cell detection indicator light flashes in case the resistance is too high (alkaline cell).

The average charging current is 360mA for each AA cell (actually 1.44A pulsed at 25% duty cycle), 140mA for AAA cell. That means it takes about 7-8 hours to fully recharge 2500mAh AA cells.

The included four SONY AA batteries, however, appear to be just the same old 2500mAh cells with a new shiny wrapper. This is very disappointing, because that means they will also suffer from rapid self-discharge problem after just a few cycles. So you always have to recharge those batteries the night before you need to use them (remember this is a slow charger). Keeping a set of batteries in the charger does not help, because this charger does not maintain a trickle charge after charging is done.

If you like this charger but don't want to take chances with those 2500mAh batteries, my recommendation is to get the "Sony Cycle Energy BCG34HLD4KN Power Charger with 4 Pre-Charged 2000 mAh AA Batteries" package instead. It contains the same BCG34HLD charger, but comes with four low-self-discharge cells similar to SANYO eneloop. It is even priced a few dollars lower as of this writing.

This kit is exactly what I needed to keep my wife from throwing her camera in the junk drawer for good. The camera's flash would burn through the alkalines at a rediculous rate, and these Ni-MH power through hundreds of shots with ease. I'm really impressed especially at the price.

Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Pro

Corel WordPerfect Office X6 ProMicrosoft had discontinued five software programs I used; and what is worse, they no longer offer any support for the file format for two of these I happen to have many files I created with and now I can never review or work with again. So, I thought about moving over to Apple but had to admit they are a strange breed of operating system and software. So what else could I do, but find a PC alternative. And Corel seemed it. I am not disappointed at all. This suite works better and is easy to figure out, even better then Microsoft Office was. I read reviews about Corel and M.S. head to head, and I cannot agree that M.S. is better. You have better control over your document creation. Then we have the conversion of Word too WordPerfect and back again, no issues here either. All the other programs in the Corel suite work very well too. if you seek further information before forking out the money, which I understand totally, I would visit YouTube or use RealPlayer to review the how to use WordPerfect Office. Or perhaps buy the book that seems only available from Corel's website ("Reference Guide").

I love word perfect... so much more user friendly than Microsoft word... I downloaded the trial version of the x6 and LOVED it.. So to find such a great price here on Amazon when the usual price is almost $400 was the icing on the cake!! So easy to download off Amazon! Do not hesitate, you won't find it at a better price.

Buy Corel WordPerfect Office X6 Pro Now

I have used WordPerfect 8 since 1995. It satisfied all my word production and graphic needs. The only reason I upgraded was that I was experiencing a lot of glitches, probably because of the interface with newer Microsoft programs.

I have not even begun to fully explore the differences between the older and newer, but I do find the thesaurus less useful than the older version. It seems to mimic Microsoft Word rather than keep what was good, which mainly offered synonyms rather than a grammatical use of the word.

I hope everything else is at least as good as the old version.

VisionTek CANDYBOARD Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard with Touchpad (900335)

VisionTek CANDYBOARD Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard with TouchpadAs of right now im using my candy board to write this, im using mac os 10 (snow leopard) it was easy to set up right out of the box, as far as size its about as thick as an iphone or droid, it was easy to set up, a little weird to get used to, but it has just about every button a standard keyboard has with the exception of a right shift button. it responds well, and the built in touch pad is great, but as its small it does take a few swipes to get all the way across the screen. ive yet to try this with my xbox, but from what ive read its not too hard to configure. as far as practicality i think this is best used for home theater set ups or utilizing a tv or large monitor from a distance, i really got this as an experiment to see what i can do with it as far as coding and design accompanying my tablet so i dont have to reach awkwardly to my built in key board, and so far so good. anyways i wouldnt recommend this as just a replacement to purchasing a full keyboard other than with a media set up.

I must say this is my first purchase of this type for a media center PC I have in my living room, and I am extremely disappointed. I'll break it down below:

PROS:

*Great battery life, don't have to charge it for weeks on end, with moderate daily use.

*Backlit keyboard is a nice touch although I don't use it that frequently

*Size--blends nicely with my other remotes on my coffee table.

CONS:

*Horrendous range, 6 feet if you're lucky. And that's assuming no obstacles. From the couch to the USB receiver, it's about 5 feet in my living room, and even still I have trouble with it. I'm thankful for front USB ports! If I had to plug it in the back, it probably wouldn't work at all.

*After a short time, the keyboard enters "sleep" mode to conserve battery. To bring it back, you have to press a key at least 5 itmes before it will wake. Very annoying.

*Some of the keys will "stick", although not physically. Maybe just a software issue with the driver (Windows 7), I don't know, but it REALLY makes it a pain when trying to wake it up from "sleep" as mentioned before. Occasionally during typing or scrolling, the key will "stick" and leave you with a bunch of repeated keystrokes.

*If you've done extensive research on this as I have, you'll find there are TONS of different brands of these keyboards out there that are exactly this same one. Some have varying ratings. Maybe one of the others is good, but the VisionTek is total crap, and the fact that there are tons of this exact same looking model will keep me from getting any other ones just like it.

Please, save your money and do your research. I'm looking into Lenovo's offering, the N9501. Has great reviews compared to others.

I have had problems with this device ever since I got it. Mostly, the keyboard has allot of trouble synching with the USB transmitter. This happens almost every time I turn on the device or when it comes out of sleep mode (which is often if I'm just watching a video). It happens at any distance and from any USB port on my computer. It happens on a fully charged device.

When it works it's great. But I have to do some much fiddling around to get it to work it's just not worth it. I have submitted a report to Visiontek support but expect to return the device.

Glooko IR Adapter (Compatible with ACCU-CHEK® meters)

Glooko IR AdapterThe Glooko IR Adapter works just as advertised. I purchased this to keep records of my blood glucose history, and wanted something that is straight-forward and easy to use. I found the Glooko app for iPhone, and my meter (accucheck nano) needed this adapter in order to communicate with the meter and the iPhone.

The product works perfectly each time, being able to keep track of my blood glucose history on my iPhone so that I can share instantly with my doctor.

The only con would be it's price. It's in a pricey category considering what it does, which is to only sync.

But overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I've always had problems remembering to log my readings. I love this and I know my dr will love seeing my numbers when I go back next week.

HP 4 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card L1882A-EF

HP 4 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card L1882A-EFI am using HP 8 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card (L1885A-EF) in my BlackBerry 8900. The card was immediately recognized by the BlackBerry, formatting went without a problem, and the card functions properly. BlackBerry sees 7.3GB of available memory on the card.

This card is exactly what I wanted.

I bought 2 8gb cards to fit in photofast memory stick pro duo adapter and pop it up in my psp, so far so good works absolutely fine off course faster than class 2.

Buy HP 4 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card L1882A-EF Now

HP's 8GB microSDHC card was one of the better buys at the time of this review, as far as price/performance/capacity is concerned. In my case, it fulfills the task assigned stores a large number of songs for the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 2 GB MP3 Player that accepts microSDHC cards. However, its relatively low data transfer speed may NOT make it a good pick if the intended use was in a camera that takes 'rapid fire' shots.

PERFORMANCE

I would like to note that I did not test the card with a camera but its stated 'Class 4' speed class, which is the equivalent of a 26x speed rating should guarantee a MINIMUM of 4MB/s more than enough when it comes to music playback.

Unlike the 'x' ratings, the speed class ratings are NOT certified by an independent body so, more or less, you will have to decide whether you trust the card's maker HP is quite a reputable brand and it so happens that I DID test the card myself. I found that I could copy 2 GB worth of songs in about 6-7 minutes. This is about 4-5MB/s for writing on the card for the first time, indicating that the Class 4/26x claim is honest. This is very good performance for a 'class 4' given that the card was inserted into an 'full' SDHC card adapter which, in turn, was inserted into a USB card reader.

Practically, if you are going to use this card in a camera, depending on the quality of the pics you are taking, you may or may not be happy with its performance. At 12 megapixels, a 100% quality JPG would produce a 2-3 MB or loarger file so, without even counting the overhead, your camera will spend about half second, possibly more to write to the card which may or may not be in line with your own expectation. For better performance, look for a higher 'class' number 133x/Class 20, for example, should support 20 MB/s or writing up to 10 12-megapixel JPG photo files per second.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES/CONCERNS

The card comes with a 'full' SDHC adapter. This is very important, especially if you need to interface with a computer. In my case, I am inserting the microSDHC into the included SDHC adapter which, in turn, goes into a USB card reader I used the one that came with the Transcend 16 GB Class 2 SDHC Flash Memory Card with USB Card Reader TS16GSDHC2-P2.

The card comes formatted as FAT32 and my Windows 7 computer was able to write to it and read from it without difficulty. If, for whatever reason, FAT32 is not what you need, you should be able to format it under Windows/Vista, Mac or Unix/Linux to whatever you may need. The MP3 player was able to read the card as formatted without any issues.

Not ALL cameras support FAT32. Older cameras may only be aware of FAT16 and can't see any card larger that 4GB. If in doubt, check with the manufacturer or maybe read your camera's reviews at Amazon.

Related to the above anyone who may have a device meant to use SD cards should be aware that SDHC may not work with it so it's better to ask the maker.

While the SDHC interface is provided, I would go for a full-size SDHC card if that's what my gadget accepted. You can use the card with the adapter but why bother. The microSDHC being so small and fragile, why risk losing it or breaking it?

RATING

This is a honestly rated Class 4 card. It works very well for me in my MP3 player but I'd look for a faster card if I needed a card for a camera or a camcorder. Class 4, as I explained, means relatively SLOW so, if blazing-fast write speed is not an issue, this is probably what you need given the price and the maker's reputation by the way, the card is manufactured in Taiwan.

For what it is, the card deserves 5 stars.

This was all very disappointing because we lost almost all of our vacation photos. Luckily we had two cameras and the other had a reliable memory card.

Lexerd - HP iPAQ 111 TrueVue Crystal Clear PDA Screen Protector

Lexerd - HP iPAQ 111 TrueVue Crystal Clear PDA Screen ProtectorI found it to be easy to install when I peeled it only part way off the backing per the instructions. It even came with a cleaning cloth and what looked like a couple finger gloves to avoid fingerprints. I figured that out after I had installed the screen protector (they were not labeled and not in the instructions unless I missed that part). I did have to lift part of the protector back up to smooth out a bubble. Now it's invisble to me and the stylus works the same with it on. I have every confidence it will protect my new screen from scratches.

The TrueVue screen protector is fantastic! After looking at the 3M screen protector my roommate has, I researched various protecters and found this one to seem to be the best... It arrived I put it on my new IPAQ 111 and it is amazing it's like it's not even there! I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to protect their PDA. The size is perfect for the item no cutting, etc..

Buy Lexerd - HP iPAQ 111 TrueVue Crystal Clear PDA Screen Protector Now

Buying was smooth, so was shipping. Arrived well within the specified time given with my order confirmation.

That's where the good news ends.

I fumbled with this thing for nearly an hour. It seemed "magnetically" attracted to the screen, so that when trying to line it up just right, it somehow sticks itself to the screen prematurely, and at the wrong angle, leaving me to peel it back off, and try again. I thought my fan was the culprit at first, but then I turned it off, and still got the same result.

Using the included dust cloth was very easy, and it cleaned the screen very well, but more dust miraculously appeared, mere moments after a complete cleaning. Repeated the process SEVERAL times, with no change. Even tried keeping the iPaq inverted (screen down), and didn't do any good.

After all this frustration, I sucked it up, and just stuck the protector on. It had numerous bubbles underneath, some of which caused by dust which was now adhered to the adhesive side. Some of the bubbles, without dust, wouldn't even budge when the smoothing card provided was used.

The only good thing is I now have a fairly handy dust cloth. Everything else in the package is pretty much useless.

I guess I'm lucky this mess isn't very visible when the screen is lit up. I will probably not be purchasing another one of these. I'll likely go with a non-adhesive "more expensive" screen protector for next time. Atleast dust can't stick to those.

--

To Lexerd: I really do not like writing reviews as negative as this one. In general, I am a very relaxed and accepting consumer, and can deal with alot of disappointment. In this case, you have produced a pathetic product. You likely know you could have done better, and that is the sad part.

This has been on my PDA for about 6 months, and works exactly as it is supposed to, and exactly as advertised.

Installation requires some patience, but follow the (very clear) instructions, and you'll be fine. The package included a couple of rubber fingertip gloves (to prevent getting fingerprint oil on the screen), a lint-free cloth, and a piece of plastic to smooth out bubbles.

As long as one is careful and takes a little time to install the protector correctly and precisely, there will be no problem. If you are impatient and just want to slap something on your PDA, this is not the product for you. OTOH, I suspect products that just "slap on" to the PDA don't work half as well as this.

I recommend this product, and will buy it again when I replace my PDA.

These fit my Bluetooth headset and are working OK. My issue is I paid extra for what I thought was OEM – I wanted OEM – and got aftermarket copies. I could have ordered the same type of aftermarket earhooks from another vendor, paid half the price and received twice as many earhooks.

Logitech Wireless Presenter R400

Logitech Wireless Presenter R400Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Anyone looking for a solid, easy to use wireless presenter will be more than pleased with the R400.

From an ergonomics perspective I think it is, as Goldilocks would say. "just right". Some of the smaller presenters often require a lot of fidgeting. At the same time, you do not want to be holding a brick in your hand when standing in front of an audience. This unit is large enough to be easy to use, small enough to be discrete. The rubberized surface helps ensure it will not go flying due to an over-zealous hand gesture.

Set up is very easy, plug the dongle into a laptop and you are ready to go. I have used this on a variety of laptops and it has always worked flawlessly.

If you are a facilitator or do a lot of presentations, you should consider the upgrade to the R800. Once you adopt the practice of using a vibrating timer, you will never want to be without this feature. Likewise, the more powerful laser on the R800 makes a big difference in large or bright rooms. The R400 is a good choice for 75% of presenters, but at least look at the 800 before making your final choice. You can not go wrong with either.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I obtained both the R400 and R800 Professional units and thought it would be worth comparing them. I use wireless remotes with Powerpoint often, and have two different Kensington models as comparisons.

Both the R400 and R800 use standard AAA batteries. This is important when traveling. One of my Kensington models uses watch batteries, which are hard to find on the road. With the Logitech models, this is especially important because the remotes have an "on-off" switch. It seems likely--at least for me--that I will forget to turn the switch off at some point or, when traveling, the switch could slide to on, draining the power. When replacing batteries in an emergency, having standard-sized batteries is something you'll be thankful for.

The units have little pouches for travel, and the pouches would prevent the accidental switch to on, but the pouches are bulky. I doubt I will use the pouches. The R400 is smaller than the R800, so if you travel a lot, the R400 may be best. Both units have a hot button to allow the presentation screen to go dark, which is a great way to draw attention from the slide to the presenter. Another button brings up the presentation again.

Both units set up in a snap--at least in Windows XP. I just inserted the USB bar and after about 30 seconds, I was able to advance an open Powerpoint presentation. I haven't tested this on Vista or on Mac yet.

The R800 has more range, which is useful if your laptop is in the back of the room. The R800 has a timer, which is great in today's watch-less world. Set the timer for the length of the presentation and it will actually vibrate with reminders. The green laser, as opposed to the red for the R400, seems to have about the same range and it's debatable whether or not green is easier to see than red. But, the green laser projects a little bigger on the screen and that definitely is better.

For the money, either units are good, but they are priced a little higher than the Kensington. They're easy to use (whenever I had my Kensington to someone to use they need a primer on its use and I don't see that being the case with these). If you're already making the financial leap, it's probably worth the major leap to the R800. If you travel and space is the prime concern, go with the R400.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First off, you don't really get a feel for the size of thing from the picture or even the video. As noted in the product dimensions, it's 4.5" by 1.5", so draw that to see what it's like. It's small and very comfortable to hold, with a rubbery surface that makes it very unlikely you'll drop it even with a light grip.

I especially like that the USB dongle stores inside the unit, so the two pieces are much less likely to get separated. It comes with a nice protective zipper case, though I don't use it. I just throw the thing in my laptop bag without the case.

I use this on a Mac and it works, mostly. With a little customizing, it works completely.

The first time I plugged it in, a "Keyboard Assistant" ran since the Mac didn't recognize the "keyboard". I simply quit the assistant, and there was no problem. The forward, back, and black screen buttons work fine on both Powerpoint and Keynote. However out of the box, the "play" button works on neither. With some fiddling, I was able to get the play button to work on both.

To configure Powerpoint for the play button, go to the Keyboard system preference and pick Keyboard Shortcuts. Then hit the + key to add a shortcut. Pick Microsoft Powerpoint for the application (you may need to hit Other... to find it, since it's in a subdirectory in Applications). For Menu Title type in, exactly, "Slide Show" (without the quotes). Then in the Keyboard Shortcut, simply press the play button on the remote. That sets the shortcut to F5, which is what the remote sends with you press play. Now the play button works for Powerpoint. You can do the same for Keynote, with the menu title "Play Slideshow".

Then all the buttons on the remote work on the Mac.

The red laser is not very bright, but passable. I would have preferred a brighter green laser. The wireless range is more than good enough for any room I've been in.

Notably missing is any ability to move the mouse arrow or click. Moving forward and back is not really enough if you have movies or links in your presentation. In that case, you'll want a more capable remote.

The bottom line is that the R400 provides the minimum functionality, even on a Mac, with a really nicely designed form with a great feel. However the functions are only minimal, one of the functions doesn't work on a Mac out of the box, and in the end, it is a little overpriced. There are better choices, e.g. the Keyspan Presentation Remote Pro. Though I wish the better choices felt as good to hold as this one.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Right off the clip, the R400 has a few nice touches:

Ships with two Duracell batteries.

USB transmitter inserts into the presenter itself; doesn't need to be carried separately.

Includes a nice neoprene-like case.

No software! (this is a GOOD thing, the less clutter on my PC, the better)

Even though OS X isn't listed as compatible with this presenter, it works! Don't let the "Unknown keyboard" dialog on USB insert scare you; it works just fine.

Laser pointer works.

Next and previous buttons work.

"Black screen" button works.

"Launch slide show" button... I'm not sure what this does because all I can get it to do is to cancel the slideshow and show PowerPoint.

After using this, I'm not sure how I lived without it. Bringing to all of my presentations!

I use this product nearly all day every day, teaching my students using PowerPoint without being restricted to being next to my computer. I have used a few similar products in the past (mostly Targus), but this one has been superior in every respect.

Here are the highlights for me:

1. Ease of use: It's plug-and play right out of the box. The controls are well-placed and easy to find without even looking. Before I bought it, a few people said the "Exit" button was too easy to accidentally hit, but I haven't found that to be a problem even once. Unlike other presenters I've used, this one never "stalls" or fails to be recognized.

2. Build Quality: The product is solidly built. The ergonomics are great. The buttons are solid and intuitive. The "forward" button even has a raised dot, so your thumb can easily recognize it. The laser pointer is not exceedingly strong, but it's definitely usable in all but the brightest rooms. That the USB plug fits into the pointer is a great plus, even though mine never leaves the computer. I expect it to last for a long time.

3. Features: The feature set is simpler than some other models (like it's fancier brother with a built-in timer and stronger laser), but the features on this model are enough for most users (I time almost everything in my class in many intervals, so the timer wouldn't have been practical for me.).

4. Battery Life: I've been using mine constantly for 2 weeks now on two rechargeable batteries, and the indicator on startup still shows a full charge.

Two aspects I can't report on are range (I've used mine only in a medium-sized classroom) and customer service (haven't needed it).

All in all, this product isn't particularly different from others out there, but it performs better at basically the same price.

PalmOne Portable Keyboard for Palm V Series Handhelds

PalmOne Portable Keyboard for Palm V Series HandheldsDo you hate it when you're using the Stylus pen on your new Palm Vx and every time you make a 'v' the palm displays a 'u' or when you make a 'k' the palm displays a 'y'? Well palm has solved that big problem with the smallest portable full-sized keyboard that has yet to be seen for the Palm.

Simply put, this is the best product out for the Palm so far. Not only is it the same size as a regular keyboard, minus the number pad, but it also folds into one four-section square that snaps shut for easy transportation wherever you take your pal pilot.

It also functions flawlessly with the Palm itself. Just install the program on the disk that comes with it onto the hard drive and then place the keyboard program on the palm using the Palm Manager and you're all set to type away.

Besides its technical strengths, it is also got a strong magnesium casing to it to prevent damage to the keyboard itself in the event of dropping it. It also comes with it's own neoprene case for a little extra padding.

However, since I have to picky in order to best serve you guys who are reading this review, it does have one or two slight problems.

First, the shift button on the right side of the keyboard is a little small. Although aesthetically this may not be a big deal, once you start typing you'll see that every now and then you his the up button rather than the shift key and are typing in the middle of another sentence.

Second, although it's smooth sailing when the palm is attached to the keyboard, taking it off and placing it on the keyboard is a little difficult. The reason is that the platform, although stable, is a little flimsy, comprised of a plastic spine and a thin metal support. One time I almost broke the stand trying to get the palm out of the darn thing.

Don't get me wrong though. Compared to all other keyboards (i.e. the IGo) and all the other things that could have been wrong with it, the Palm portable keyboard is a must buy for people who pack their palm full of notes or anything else. It's quick and easy to use. And although a little more expensive than the IGo, it's worth the extra money and is a quality palm product...just like the palm itself. Enjoy!

RevuMan: Get out of the way Stylus, Keyboard coming through...Peace!

This is the best palm product i have bought. It is so compact when it is colapsed that it can fit in your pocket. when the keyboard is open, i can type as fast on it as on a regular keyboard. This in conjunction with a program called co-Launcher lets me launch every app on my Vx with out needing the stylus...just assign co-launcher to one of the keyboard command keys. I use it to take notes in class, keep track of email, write memo's and todo's.

A couple of improvements...It doesn't work if you have afterburner turned on (i'm sure this is afterburner's fault). Also, the arrows default to moving while in a memo that is in edit mode, You have to the function key + arrow to scroll in an email...this is inconvienient for me : (

Bottom line....i would pay double the price for this product. It has made my palm a million times more useful. Now it is more than just a game playing machine : )

A while ago, I wrote a review of this product entitled "Very cool, but flimsy..." in which I indicated that, even though the expandable Palm keyboard had changed the way I worked with my Palm V, I'd had some problems with it. A few days ago, I was contacted by the president of the manufacturer (not his administrative assistant), offering to replace my keyboard. I got the FedEx a day later with my replacement keyboard. This kind of concern for my satisfaction impresses me as much as the thinking behind the keyboard itself. As a result of this very positive experience, I need to amend my original review from a lukewarm 3 to an enthusiastic 5. The product's still a great one, but the company's focus on the customer makes it even better.

I've tried other Palm V keyboards with little success. In my experience, the main problem with the other keyboards relates to HackMaster hacks. With all of my hacks in place -Graspeedy, Menuhack, Contrast Button Hack and PopUp Note -and with a ton of software on my Palm Vx, including the beta version of the Omnisky/Minstrel wireless software, all functions perfectly. I've tried the keyboard with SmartDoc, QuickSheet, MultiMail, PocketQuicken, HanDBase and all the built-in apps. It works fine with all these apps. The shortcut keys for opening apps and doing specific functions in an app, also work just fine. The folding keyboard is an engineering marvel and, in spite of what others may say, you can use it on your lap. Even the case is well thought out. This is a real winner!

The Palm keyboard is a great invention. This is something that i have waited for a long time since i first purchased the Palm V. I disliked using the Graffity-thing and the mini-keyboard on the Palm V.

Then one day i ran across this keyboard in one of the electronic stores, and the first thing that took my attention is the format of how the keyboard folds out. Breaking from a box into a four piece segment, the farside of the keyboard segment can then be slid together to form a full size keyboard. The attatchment to the palm can also be slid out to the top and fold out to make a stand for the Palm itself. The entire process could be done in a matter of seconds, and apart from installing the program into the Palm, the keyboard is a quick tool for any typing job for the Plam.

The only negative things about the keyboard is that it can't hold together into a one-segment like a normal keyboard can. You need to put it down on a flat surface. It is also relatively expensive and very FRAGILE when folded out, and i really mean it when i say FRAGILE.

Apart from the minor flaws and the price, I personally recommend this product to anyone who owns a Palm.
