i just got this case in black today. it was delivered in under 24hrs with amazon prime. the case has no clearish looking parts like in the picture but its no problem im just being detailed.

for a tpu case, the buttons work really really well. usually the button covers on tpu cases make it very difficult to press and when you do, you get no tactile feedback. with this case its all there and i feel every click.

the grips on the sides feel nice and dont get annoying like some other cases.

its a pretty nice slim design that easily slides in and out of your pocket without collecting lint.

i originally had the case-mate pop for the kickstand (which costs almost 4 times as much). the back of that case is unnecessarily thick and the rubber not only makes it hard to pocket, it started peeling after a couple days and looks gross

this case is a bit thinner than i expected. by no means is this a flaw its just an opinion. it still offers some good shock absorption and after seeing a drop test of a caseless gs2, the phones are durable as is. one problem i did have tho, is when i took it out of the packaging i noticed right away that the lower right side of the case looked stretched and didnt fit tight like the rest of the case. i fixed it with some hot blow drying and cooled it down while putting pressure in the right direction. i wasnt really expecting it to work but the edges are nice and straight now. if you get this problem, dont stretch the case in the direction you want, just roll and shape it, otherwise im pretty sure you'll do more harm.

i wouldve liked a hard back to protect it in my pocket if i bump a desk or table. with that, minus the stretched lower side, it wouldve been a 5 star rating.

bottom line, its a good solid case with grip, and good button covers that are easy to use. i dont understand why anyone would pay $30 for a case when they make less expensive ones like these that are the same if not better in quality.

This is a great case of my Boostmobile Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. It is made out of a medium software rubber material and fits like a glove. All the holes for headphone, battery, camera, speaker are perfectly aligned. I give it 5 stars due to it's bang for the buck in comparison to the expense $20-30 cases.

PalmOne m505 Color Handheld

Much has been written about the poor display on the m505. As the owner of a Cassiopeia E-125, and a former owner of both a Palm IIIc and the Handspring Visor Prism, I think I can help make sense of it all. For ease of reference, here they are in the order of brightness of the display:

1. Visor Prism -Absolutely the brightest Palm display out there, including the new Clie n710 and 610 models from Sony. It's active-matrix back-lit display is bright and text is very readable. The expandable modules are a great idea, but I never took advantage of any of them. My only complaint about the Prism is that is was just too darn big and heavy. It's a bit boxy, and just felt like a weight when carried in a shirt pocket. In sum, awesome screen, but mediocre form factor still makes this a winner.

2. E-125 -If you're in the market for a PocketPC, I think this is the way to go. The screen is gorgeous, and Microsoft's clear type font technology is really something. The display has more colors, and is larger than Palm displays, allowing you to really spend some quality time reading books or playing games. The new Windows Media Player 7.1 is also a vast improvement over former versions, and transferring audio files to the unit is a snap. Sound quality is very good, too. I personally prefer the Palm OS -from running apps to hot-syncing, it's so much simpler and faster. Plus, the PocketPC platform is not nearly as stable in my experience. Programs tend to crash far too frequently, usually taking the entire OS down with it. It's also very easy to have too many apps running at once (not all of them have File/Exit menus), leading to a crash when you run out of memory. Finally, although the units do a whole lot more than the Palms, they are also much bigger -no fun at all to carry in a pocket.

In short, if you are really intrigued by the PocketPC -hey, different strokes. But if you're a Palm user and happy with the platform, there really isn't a reason to switch, unless multimedia is essential ....

3. Palm IIIc -not as many out there as there used to be, but still worth a look if you can find one. Zippy and attractive, this unit is relatively bright and clear, but not nearly as bright as the Prism. One thing the IIIc and the Prism have that the m505 does not is a brightness control (hold down the power button and the brightness meter appears, giving you control over whether to save power or let it shine). But it comes standard with a serial cradle (ugh!) meaning you'll have to pay extra for a USB cradle, and it's a bit boxy and has a plastic feel to it for my taste. The model has also been discontinued, raising questions about investing in old Palm technology.

4. Palm m505 -First, I must address the rumors that units manufactured outside the U.S. (i.e., in Hungary) are not as bright as the U.S. models. I've seen both U.S. and Hungary models, and there is no difference in the brightness of the display. Check out the m505 FAQs at Palm's web site, where they address this by stating that the rumors are false, and that identical components are used regardless of where manufactured.

Next, it's true, this display is the worst of the four units discussed here. But if you consider this model as an m500 (the monochrome version) with color, you won't be disappointed. Side by side, the m505 is much easier to read from all different angles than is the m500. And the color really does enhance the user experience, especially when the unit comes with a terrific app like MGI's mobile photo suite. Who wants to see digital pix on a grey-scale Palm? For the extra $... that Palm charges for a color display, it's just a no-brainer. Color is worth it! I also found that after a few days using this model, my eyes adjusted to the screen, and it was a pleasure to use. Still, Palm might have found a better balance between power conservation and the birghtness on this display -they erred on the side of conservation, which, based on the reviews right here on Amazon, wasn't the way to go to satisfy most users.

Notwithstanding the slightly disappointing screen, the m505 is my choice for daily use. For one, it ships with v.4 of the Palm OS and Desktop for Windows, as well as numerous other bonus apps (Palm Reader, AOL for Palm, and Documents to Go v. 3, to name a few). It also comes standard with a USB cradle, and is both PC and Mac compatible (as are Visors, but not PocketPCs or the Sony Clie, which are PC only).

The m505 also offers the SDD/MMC slot for memory and software cards, and neat innovation that works like a charm (my m505 came with the GamesPack card).

Finally, the m505 carries on the legendary form factor of the V/Vx models, which ultimately makes this the best PDA for me. Even with the optional Palm slim leather m505 case, the entire thing fits in my shirt pocket with room to spare. It's tiny and attractive, and every button has wonderful, snappy tactile response. The thing just feels great in your hand, and the craftsmanship really shows.

The bottom line -you've really got to go out to a retailer and compare these babies side by side. This model won't be for everyone, especially folks who want to read novels or write lengthy documents directly on their Palm device. For everyday contact and schedule info, and occasional reading and writing, the m505 is a definite winner in my book. A slightly brighter screen would make it perfect and worthy of 5 stars!

It took me a few days to get used to the different screen technology, as I upgraded from the IIIc (you know, the one so bright you can signal aircraft with it). You just have to get accustomed to the silver background instead of white, which is why it looks milky white with the frontlight turned on.

However, I'm facinated in that the screen is clear and readable no matter what the lighting situation may be. When walking down a corridor or past windows, you never 'lose' the image like I did on my former greyscale and color devices. There was also no hint of streaking or banding.

Enough about the screen. The reason I bought it was because of the expansion. I can now travel with EVERY application I need, including my spreadsheets, relational databases, ebooks, and mapping software. I could only fill it up by loading multimedia clips and movie trailers. When it comes to making sure your data is safe, I can now carry a full system backup in my wallet. You insert the backup card in your Palm and two buttons pop up on the screen; Backup and Restore. Forget the manual! I should probably mention that you can put more than just Palm files on the card. Just drop any file into the Palm installer, send it to the card, and you have it with you. An extra trick when you get to that out of town meeting? Click on that special file and email your materials as attachments using McFile.

I don't really have to mention size, you can slip it in your pocket without looking like you are stealing bricks for your diveway. Even though it is more solid than other handhelds I've owned (this is my 5th), I find myself being more careful due to it's size.

One thing I was not expecting was the extra speed. If you don't know anyone with a Pocket PC (I have friends and coworkers with them), then go down to a local store and try out a Pocket PC with the 505 by it's side. You will be surprised by how sluggish most of them seem. I had to use a utility to slow the Palm down to get the responsiveness of the PPC's (HP Jordana was used in actual testing). Taking that same utility, you can crank the speed up to 50Mhz, which is the equivalent of above 300Mhz on a Pocket PC, and really watch it fly. Watch the battery though... you don't get as good mileage with your foot on the floor like that.

Hotsyncing was also drastically different. A normal hotsync take 12 seconds. Sometimes I do it twice because I did not see the first one, even though it says it did. A full reload from the desktop computer used to take me about 55 minutes. A reload to the M505 takes 9 minutes, including backup and verification.

On the downside, the battery life is not as good as the IIIc, which had a huge battery. Size does have it's tradeoffs, and Palm would have had to give up the expansion slot or vibrating alert to get more battery in there. Most users can expect about 2 weeks of use from a single charge, if they they don't watch too much video. But I should also mention that this is a concern only if you hotsync once every two weeks. The M505 soaks up a charge faster than any device I've known. In testing, it went from a 10% battery level to 53% in two minutes. Given time to stabilize, the voltage level evened out at 48%, so I imagine you would have to purposely avoid the cradle in order for the thing to even get low in the first place. If you do kill the battery by ignoring the many warnings which begin at 10%, it will not turn on. This is to protect your data, which will be safe for another week... but THAT'S something I'm not going to test!

This is my third Palm, so I am obviously sold on the usefulness of the little machines! If you are a busy person--not necessarily a BUSINESS person, but a person who has a busy life, and has to remember lots of information, keep lots of appointments, etc., I believe you will fall in love with these devices if you try them. I use mine for the traditional purposes of keeping track of appointments and recording phone numbers, but also to put reminders to myself in the future, such as "rebalanace mutual funds in IRA" twice a year. I also use this as a memory bank for odd little bits of information I may find useful, by recording the information in a note, along with several key words I will think of when I want to remember the specifics months later. I search for the keywords, and there is the note, displayed so I can see it.

As to the specifics of this particular Palm, the two main advantages it has over the Palm V series are color, and the ability to use memory cards that can be inserted into the device. Bluntly, I am unimpressed with the color. You can use Palm m505 to display color photographs, but the display is not bright enough or large enough for this to be a good way to show off your pictures. I have hopes that the color will be useful when I acquire mapping software later, but I haven't done that yet.

So far I haven't used the memory cards as anything but an expanded memory, but Palm and other providers are already offering memory cards with all sorts of programming included--Huge databases of tourist information on cities, maps, game programs, and all sorts of things. It looks like this will be good, if your needs extend to that.

I highly recommend this product if you are buying your first PDA, or if you have a very old one (Palm III or something) you want to upgrade. If you have a Palm V or Palm Vx, I'd suggest waiting to upgrade unless you have a burning need for the memory cards.

I bought my Palm m505 in Sept. 2001, now it is less than 5 months later and I have experienced the Hot Sync problems everyone else is talking about. When I contacted Palm, they said they know about the defect and have corrected it, but in the meantime, I spent $478 for a NEW palm pilot that DOESN'T work and the only thing Palm will do for me is send me (at my cost of $25) a REFURBISHED replacement. Seems like someone is getting a good deal here, and it's not me. I will never buy a Palm product again. Additionally, the color screen is terrible without the backlight on. I am sorely disappointed.

I used to have a Windows CE device, the Nokia 9110 palmtop/mobile phone and still have a Palm IIIc. I read a lot of bad things about the M505 color display. After using it very often in the last couple of weeks (car travel, planes, office, etc.) I can't believe that people say the display is a problem. This is far better then my PIIIc. For sure the contrast on the display are less impressive (you getting used to it) but it works in all light conditions. I only use the backlight in about 10% of the time. Sometimes you have to swivel the Palm screen towards a light source to read the display correctly without the backlight (it saves battery).. Outside, this display is incredible clear, with my PIIIc I always had to increase the intensity of the screen to see something.

It is also much faster then the PIIIc, this M505 is really fast. The software included with it is really cool, easy to use Excel and Word document reader. Ebook, Photosuite software to name a few.

Because of the negative commands on this site on the M505 I almost bought a M500. Lucky I didn't do because I heard now that the M500 is slower (It has the same processor but the screen updates slower).

Compared to the PIIIc, I would say the M505 is:

Smaller with less weight. (it fits in my wallet).

Faster.

More software.

Integrated SD slot is really useful, I never thought it would be (8Mbyte RAM with a few family pictures is could becoming a problem).

Better display ( better in both very dark and bright light situations). Even in this small size, the battery get me running for longer then 10 hours, thanks to Color LCD technology Palm is using (simular to the PIIIc).

Now I can write on my palm in complete darkness also because now my Silkscreen lights up.

This unit is ready for the bluetooth wireless technology, which will be available from Palm at the end of the year.

Faster USB hotsync transfer. (only important for Aventgo website syncing I found).

This one does. I have a Belkin which can Blue Screen my machine. This is so well known that Microsoft seems to know about this. You find this out after the Blue Screen. MSoft directs you to a site for a fix. The site is no longer up. Not MSoft's fault.

The Aten has worked where others do not. Particularly with Crestron equipment.

SteelSeries Siberia Full-Size Headset (White)

Recently, my Steelseries 5HV2 broke, (well, the audio on the right ear piece went out). This headset is replacing the 5HV2 I had. I was consider the Carcharias from Razer but I chose these because of the fact that I can use these for my ipod or zune or whatever you have. I had a little trouble with the mic, but I just had to adjust some settings on my pc to accomidate the new bit of hardware. Overall a great choice. I highly, highly recommend it! ^_^

Got this for scanning genealogy records. It appears to be the same scanner as the VuPoint but at a better price. Came with a carrying pouch, USB cable and a CD that included a PDF manual and some software for Optical Character Recognition (Windows). I thought it might be difficult to get a good scan with a hand-held device but I was pleasantly surprised. The scanner seems to be pretty forgiving. I was getting good scans from the very first try. Scanning from a book can take three hands in order to get the scanner in close to the binding. I got good scans in color and greyscale.

I highly recommend this scanner to anyone needing to scan from library books or old paper documents.

Don't forget to buy a microSD card to go with this as it won't work without one. Even a 1GB card would give you space for a lot of scans.

Works very well after a bit of practice. The reality is, if you have a steady hand this scanner is going to work out for you. If your hands shake, don't bother with this scanner. Your images will come out distorted and spliced. You'll be better of with a flatbed scanner. If you plan to do a lot of scanning, you'll need a lot of batteries, this thing will eat them up. You'll have to replace them after about every 150 scans. It would have been nice if you could operate this thing while it's plugged into a USB port.

I bought this to take to the library to scan pages from genealogy reference books while working on my family tree.

It's small and compact and very light weight. It'll be perfect for carrying in my briefcase with my laptop.

Accessing the files once they're scanned is as easy as plugging in the USB cable, opening Windows Explorer, and clicking on a couple of folders.

It's going to take some time to get the hang of what the perfect speed is, but I don't think that's going to be that hard.

I can't wait to get to the library and start using this!

I bought this item in the begining of this semester, and i am very glad that I bought this scanner. It is so easy to use, compatible with mac and pc, I scanned my friends notes, I scanned pages from a book that we are not allowed to take out of the library. It was a ver good purchase. The scanner is really fantastic for small scanning jobs. It excels at being portable, easy to set up, and easy to use. It took me about 30 minutes to get the unit from shipping package to functional scanner. My wife and I use our scanner for converting all legal and financial paperwork into electronic format, for storage on our home server.

The OCR scanning was "so-so" in my experience. I tried a couple of typed letters (Serif, 10-12 pt) to see how accurate it was and it wasn't half the time. Which is not really a major downer for me. I want everything I scan to be a JPG or PDF anyway, and I've had zero problems scanning to either of those formats.

If I had one thing I could change about the scanner, I would engineer the scanning window right up against one of the ends so that users could easily scan pages from books. I honestly was looking forward to dragging the scanner over book selections, to save favorite passages, and I can't get the scanner into the spine of most of my books.

I did have a problem with my LG Vortex forcing me to crop the wallpaper, which in turn, blew up the cropped image to fill the screen, so it wasn't the proper scale anymore. I contacted invisibledefenders via email about the problem I was having with my phone and the wallpaper I downloaded from their site. They were very prompt at getting back to me with a solutuion to the problem. They were very helpful. I am very pleased with the physical product and the matching wallpaper. It is really cool. I would like to mention that the wallpaper I downloaded was of the correct resolution and size, it's just that my particular phone won't let me save an image as a wallpaper in it's original size. It makes me crop an area of the image to use as the wallpaper and then stretches that cropped section to fit the whole screen. It was not a problem with the product or wallpaper, but they went a step above and beyond by resolving my problem. I will definately purchase from them again and I recomment anyone else interested in their products to do the same.

Handy Portable Document and Photo Scanner

Overview and Scan Quality:

This little scanner is lightweight, easily portable, doesn't take up much space, and is super easy to use. It takes a little getting used to to get scans straight (if you shift even slightly while scanning, table lines and rows of text will not be precisely straight). The scanned image is pretty clear and I have had no problems with bleeding, blurring, fuzzing, dulling, or anything of the like. It does sometimes pick up a bit of noise that adds a slight color in the background of monotone scans. This may confuse a printer to add that coloring should you need to print the scanned page. This scanner can scan color or monotone items and the resolution can be set to either 300dpi or 600dpi.

This is fine for quicky scans of receipts, reference material, and the like, but if you are scanning important records or anything that requires a high quality scan, you may want to practice with this thing until you get everything straight or just use a flatbed scanner for that sort of thing. You will want to scan on a white surface unless you don't mind bits of table or more significant noise showing up in your scan.

Included Software:

The software is not required in order to use the scanner and I don't like that it has no pdf option. The software takes whatever screenshot you select and will send the text to Word, a table to Excel, either to a file or the clipboard, or an image to a file, clipboard, or email. I did not bother with it since I use pdf files almost exclusively and I cannot tell you if any of the transfers are accurate. Whether you use the software or not, the scanner is recognized as a storage device and your scan opens as an image in Windows Image Viewer. If you have a pdf printer driver (such as CutePDF, which is a free download at the CutePDF website), you can simply select "print" in the image viewer and set it to full page to print the image to a pdf file. I have to admit that the scans look a lot better than I expected them to.

MicroSD Card:

The description on Amazon currently seems to indicate that the microSD card is optional. It is not, so make sure you have one when you get this scanner. It scans wirelessly and only gets plugged in via USB cable to transfer saved scans to your computer.

Batteries, Cables, Etc.:

I use mine for occasional quick scans I don't want to turn the flatbed on for, such as receipts and notes. I have not had a problem with batteries running out, but that may be an issue if you are using the scanner more heavily. I use eneloop rechargeable batteries in mine without problem. The cable is a standard USB, so if you lose it, you probably have a dozen or so lying around you can use and, if you don't, it is not expensive to replace. It also comes with a microfiber cloth for cleaning the scan window. Make sure not to use anything other than microfiber! If you lose it, the Walmart eye care center carries inexpensive microfiber cloths that will work just fine and other stores that sell glasses also carry them.

Scanning:

FYI, the image on Amazon shows the scanner going across a book page horizontally. If you will look closely, there are white lines at either end of the scanner and those indicate the scan area. For best results, start at the top of the page and move the scanner down toward you, making sure the image you want scanned stays in between those white lines. It is not picky and didn't have a problem with me being a little jerky. Any side-to-side movement will result in slightly jagged lines, but the direction it scans came out just fine even though I am not very good at keeping an even pace.

Conclusion:

This scanner is great for quick scans or on-the-go scanning. The results are crisp and clear with minimal effort and retrieving scans from it is very simple.

After purchasing my own mini SD card and my own batteries, I was ready to do some scanning.

It is a good as it claims to be! For storing good printable scans of Black and White and colour documents, the 300 dpi is more than adequate. 600 dpi tends to produce bulky documents (more than 2 MB). Unless you have a picture with some fine details that need magnification later on, the 500 900 kb file size produced by 300 dpi is sufficient. The maximum time it will take to scan an 8.5 x 11 inch paper is 12 seconds (colour, 600 dpi) but since I use the 300 dpi all the time, the recommended time is less than 5 seconds. Very quick!

It takes a little practice getting to know which side to orient the scanner not to produce an upside down image or a laterally inverse one. Unless you have Parkinson's disease, most people's hands will be steady enough to scan wonderfully crisp images. The problem is that some documents/book pages have staples, dog ears and other impediments that make it difficult to roll over a flat surface evenly. As far as surfaces go; I recommend laying the document on top of a pane of glass, which allows for a frictionless gliding motion. I tried to press the document page flat onto the reverse side of the glass pane and scan from the other side of the glass but unfortunately, unlike flatbed scanners, this results in a blurred image. It seems the thickness (1/4 inch) of the glass was too much to get a good scan.

I really have fun with this scanner but of course wouldn't recommend using it to scan entire books. I only use it to grab magazine articles and to scan receipts and the like, but it would also be excellent for pictures.

A 1 GB SD card is more than sufficient memory. I have been scanning non stop for weeks now and must have hundreds of documents and still haven't used half of the memory. The autoshutoff after 2 minutes saves on battery life, which has only needed replacing once since the 4 weeks I've used it daily. A caveat since human hands are unsteady by nature, chances are that after doing many scans, some will end up with characters on the page which are stretched or compressed a bit (portions where your hand glided too quickly or got stuck on a dog ear). So don't buy this if you have to produce large numbers of flawlessly reproduced documents or else you'll be disappointed or find you have to strive too hard for perfection.

I definitely believe this is a good buy, though some may be put off by having to buy your own sd card and batteries (which is a significant cost). But most phones have micro sd cards now, so that could be substituted and there are always some old batteries lying round the house right? (in the remote control maybe?).

The scanner works basically as advertised. We will keep it. It is not difficult to use. My only complaint is that I wanted it to convert text into Word. I just could not get the included software to give me anything but gibberish when converting from optical to a Word formagt.But the device is easy to use and does a fine job of scanning and downloading optical files so I can save scanned documents but I cannot edit them.

All I expect in a sub $100 scanner is here. Works reliably and clearly on flat documents. No required install of bloatware on a Macintosh. After you install batteries and a micro SD card (not supplied!) you format the card, set the time, calibrate with a piece of white paper and go. There are two options, low/high (300 or 600 DPI), and mono/color. These settings are not persistent between restarts. The device always scans full-width, about 8", and is quite tolerant of jerky scans. When you plug in to a computer using the included USB cable the scanner appears as a digital camera device and all of the jpeg's are in a single folder. There is no OCR software included for Macs so you have to use your own solution here.

I got this, hoping it would fit my Viewsonic G-tablet (so hard to find stuff in that size!). It is a little too big, but that's not the fault of the product, I'm just letting anyone who might have a Ztable know this doesn't fit snugly. There are about two inches of space at the top, allowing the tablet to move around a bit.

The only reason I didn't give this five stars instead of four is that inside the front flap, there is a plastic case in which to insert your business card. That plastic sticks to the screen of the tablet every time I want to pull it out. I have to give a little extra tug or reach in and push the plastic away from the tablet first. I tried putting the tablet in backwards, but the plastic sticks to the back as well as the screen side.

Other than that, the sleeve is great -wonderful color, sturdy construction, I like it a lot!
