CF MEMORY CARD 2GB FOR CANON DIGITAL REBEL EOS XT & XTi

CF MEMORY CARD 2GB FOR CANON DIGITAL REBEL EOS XT & XTi
  • Capacity: 2GB
  • Type: Compact Flash (CF) Memory Card
  • For Digital Cameras / Handheld / Laptops

I am very pleased with the 2GB chip. The five star rating is well deserved. This chip has extended my Canon Digital Rebel EOS to over 840 shots which is more than I will probably ever use but the capacity exists. I recently took 387 shots at the Rose Bowl Parade. The price is unbelievable, the shipping was very fast, and the performance is above reproach. I would certainly recommend it in every way.

I was thinking i should of read the reviews before i got it. So when i did get it, instead of returning it i desided to go ahead and use it. And i have had No troubles with it what so ever. It never fried, or delelted photos. It works great and i would get another one if i had to! I love this card. it is cheap and it works!!

I bought this chip for a back up for my new Canon Rebel XTi that I bought. While taking pictures at the beach it stored over 150pictures as corrupted files and when I went to remove the pictures that didn't get messed up, the chip fried and I have lost all my pictures and it no longer works in my camera! Not worth the hassle or the heart ache. As i'm wanting to make money in the profession of photography I can not have equipment that destroys what I photos I take. I need something that is consistent and long lasting. This product is neither. VERY disappointed!

Also the chip pictured is NOT what you receive! I received a white chip!

I ordered 3 of these for our organization. Were on a budget so I ordered the cheapest ones. One of the cards is not working, though. It can be read and formatted by the camera but the computer can not read it. I have tried multiple computers (all PCs). I've used the built in card readers, external card readers, and attempted plugging the cameraall with no luck. It's only $7 so it's not terrible, but still... I'd like working cards for our students.

Also, the card you receive is not the card that is pictured. I received some orange generic thing.

Life-Phorm All-in-One Positioning Device for iPad 3, iPad 4, Tablets, Smartphones and Cameras (000L

Life-Phorm All-in-One Positioning Device for iPad 3, iPad 4, Tablets, Smartphones and CamerasLife form idea is perfect it mimics the stability of a spider and adapts well to many surfaces. It fits nicely between the slide-out ashtray and the armrest of a Cad DeVille creating a continuous console and ergonomic space to use the i-pad. Do not buy it if you want to be inconspicuous, however. They all stare... On the other hand, it was very handy in bars and coffee shops to start acquaintances; people are curious.

One weakness is the ipad attachment bracket itself. It unfolds and forms a floppy, loosey-goosey bracket that you must squeeze to hold your tablet. Since there is no tensioning mechanism, the tablet is difficult to fixture tightly and works itself loose with handling. The device appears to be built well and has performed its first 1700 miles splendidly.

Holds my Canon T3i with a 200mm lens very well and looks pretty wicked. Very compact and secures on things pretty well. I've received a lot of compliments on it.

Great for keeping my Nexus or iphone out of the reach of little hands while playing videos or recording my little ones. Also great to use as a stand for video chat with grandparents :)

My friend got one and he uses it for more outdoors stuff (hunting, fishing, golfing, etc.), but I like it for the everyday things. I've also used at the gym (mounts pretty easily onto exercise equipment) and at the grocery store mounted on my shopping cart.

Really versatile and very cool!

GTMax Clear Transparent Crystal LCD Screen Protector + 3 Colors Universal Stylus( Black/ Red/ Silve

GTMax Clear Transparent Crystal LCD Screen Protector + 3 Colors Universal Stylus( Black/ Red/ Silver) + LCD Screen Cleaner Strap for Google Nexus 7 TabletThis product was ok, the Screen protector was bent when i got the pkg. should have added a little protection to the product before sending....

Like another user, my screen protector came in bent. There were no application instructions besides "peel off this protective backing before applying." This probably would have been doable if the protector was cut perfectly for the device, but it is a bit off. Thus, if you don't correctly place the (bent) protector on your first go (unlikely), then all the dust in the world will it find before you can put it on.

Regarding the other items, one in the top, right corner of the preview was not included at all. The styli are also disappointing. They do not have caps, as one would believe upon first glance. Instead, the bulb at the end *is* the stylus. The result is that the object has about the same level of precision as my pinky, which entire defeats the pen's purpose. Furthermore, the design occasionally touches multiple points at once and if one writes, diagonally, instead of vertically, that person is in danger of scratching his or her device's screen with the stylus' edge.

All in all, I would not recommend this product. You get less then what you paid for along with twin helpings of aggravation and buyer's remorse.

pqi 2GB 60X Hi-Speed Secure Digital Memory Card (SD)

pqi 2GB 60X Hi-Speed Secure Digital Memory CardI purchased a PQI memory card and it died after about two months.

Although PQI advertises a lifetime guarantee on their memory products and their website has you fill out an RMA request form and email it to them as an attachment, the email address they give is invalid. All subsequent emails to PQI regarding the invalid email address and warrantee processing were not responded to.

According to the Better Business Bureau "this company has an unsatisfactory record".

I have previously always used Kingston memory without a problem. This was cheap, but looses the data as soon as it is removed from the device and often requires reformating. I tried with a PC, Camera and Palm; all give similar issues, so I know it is not a compatability issue.

rooCASE Dual-View Multi Angle Leather Folio Case Cover for Apple iPad 2Case shipped very quickly. Fits iPad 2 perfectly and holds it very well. I love that I can switch between viewing horizontal and vertical like it said! Awesome product!

I've had the case for three months now. It's my third iPad case and by far the best. It is sturdy and is not yet showing signs of wear despite daily use. The fit on my iPad 2 is perfect. I like the ability to prop up my iPad like a stand, and unlike my previous stand/case, this one actually works (my old one slipped). The red is perfect--my favorite color, plus it makes my iPad easy to find across a room. The fake leather feels just textured enough to give a good grip, but smooth enough to be able to wipe clean if necessary. The magnetic closure is not very strong but is enough to keep the cover in place. Next time I'd recommend they use a slightly stronger magnet, but this doesn't in any way diminish my enjoyment of the case. Love it!!

Krusell HTC HD2 II Leather Case Pouch Orbit Flex with Ratchet Swivel Clip (Black / Beige)

Krusell HTC HD2 II Leather Case Pouch Orbit Flex with Ratchet Swivel ClipProduct is fantastic and built with the highest level of qualiy. Personally I feel that the makers should push a HD2 into the HD2 Orbit Flex Case to see exactly how the grooves and notches match up with the actual finished case. My current HD2 orbit flex is not allowing me to touch the top left and right space since the HD2 is not fitting completely (probably a quarter of an inch). Could this be a defact or a design error.

Handspring Backup Springboard Module

Handspring Backup Springboard ModuleI love my Visor. I keep "traditional" Palm information such as names and appointments, but I also keep books, reference materials, and databases. If I'm around my computer, I HotSync several times a day. Recently, though, I had to go on a business trip for a couple of months and would not have the ability to HotSync. I figured ... for some piece of mind was a good investment.

The backup process couldn't be easier. You pop the Springboard module into its bay, the Visor turns on and the Backup application appears. Tapping the backup button starts the backup operation, which lasts a couple of minutes. After that, you remove the module and store it in a safe place.

I have actually used both the backup and restore features. I was very impressed by the ability to restore every aspect of the Visor, from its ID, to its preferences. All the applications and data were copied exactly, which saved me considerable frustration after having to perform a hard-reset.

If you're constantly synching with your computer, you don't need the Backup module. If you are often away from your computer or if you use your Visor as a standalone PDA, the Backup module is not only crucial. This feature alone makes the Visor a worthwhile investment over a Palm.

Many people depend on the hotsync feature with their PC to save their data in case of a loss of battery or the old "Fatal Exception" error. Re-syncing with your PC only brings back your data ( phone numbers, appointments, etc) not all the programs you have loaded on the Visor. You probably didn't save the original file you downloaded, so know you have to go find them on the web again. This module saves everything so you don't have to worry. It's saved me lots of time.

Buy Handspring Backup Springboard Module Now

The Handspring Backup Springboard Module is a quick and easy way to keep your Visor's data safe. The module accommmodates all the data on a Visor Deluxe, and its simple one-step backup and restore processes are virtually fool-proof.

This module provides a second form of backup for users who synchronize their Visor handhelds to a PC or a Mac. For users who don't sync to a PC or Mac, this module is a must-have to keep your data safe.

Read Best Reviews of Handspring Backup Springboard Module Here

Yes there are programs that allow one to do a complete backup or restore of all data and programs on a palm device during a cradle or modem hotsync, but only the Handspring Visor with the Backup Module allows one to do it when one has no access to a computer or phone line. Nothing is more simple either, just pop in the module and tap the "Backup Now" icon that appears in the middle of the screen. The price is excellent too when one considers the ease of use and piece of mind that this module provides. I highly recommend this module for any Visor owner.

Want Handspring Backup Springboard Module Discount?

The Backup Mod is a slice of heaven. I always worried about travelling with my PDA cause I couldn't "hot sync" with my PC and was worried about loosing collected data. This module removes those fears completely. I recently went to Switzerland and my Visor hung up on me and I had to do a Hard Reset. But check it...popped in the Backup Mod and WHAM....back to normal in a few minutes...something a Palm can't offer. This device truly redefines PDA mobility and provides a greater sense of redundancy. Just make sure you keep your eye the Backup Mod. If someone grabbed it they could restore all your data to their own device...my advice is to get "LockMe" to secure your PDA so when its restored a password is required.

A must have module for people who really do use & store data in their Visor and don't just use it as a conversation piece.

Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC (Black)

Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PCI wanted a bluetooth mouse to go with my new Macbook Air, so I didn't have to worry about cords or plugging in a receiver. But, this mouse is not compatible with OS X Lion! I could not get it the bluetooth connection to work, and their website is useless. I took it back to the Mac store and the tech guy could not get it to work either. He even opened another box and tried it, same result. I went somewhere else and bought a Logitech bluetooth mouse, which connected right away. So, it's not OS X Lion that is the problem, it's this mouse.

I've had this mouse several months and it worked well with my Macbook Air running Snow Leopard. However, after I recently upgraded to Lion it would no longer pair. I contacted tech support and they informed me that the mouse was not compatible with Lion and there were no plans to issue a driver update. Rather, they will release a new version of the mouse which will be compatible. Unfortunately, customers like myself who still have the old version are stuck with an unusable mouse. This is rather galling as I purchased my mouse after Lion had already been released and there were no disclaimers in the Amazon description stating that it was not compatible with LIon.

Buy Macally Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse for Mac and PC (Black) Now

Complete disclosure: I'm a big fan of Macally products.

The mouse arrived. A nice touch were the included AAA batteries. My Mac Mini and the mouse didn't connect happily until I rebooted. I rebooted and they paired immediately. So far they have maintained their connection and movement or a mouse click have woken the Mini up right away.

The mouse design is typical Macally: Not stylish, just beautifully functional. It's black with silver band around the middle. The buttons give good resistance and you can hear the click. The scroll wheel has good feedback and you can feel "clicks" as you scroll. I appreciate this response better than the "smooth" feel of some scroll wheels.

The manual (which takes about 30 seconds to read entirely) gives a URL to download the Mac drive for programming features. The website says it is for OS X 10.4 and 10.5. My mini has 10.6 and the driver didn't seem to install properly. I haven't heard back from Macally tech support. So far, I've been able to live without the drivers, but I do want to know what I'm missing.

DigiPro WP8060 8-Inch x 6-Inch USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen

DigiPro WP8060 8-Inch x 6-Inch USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless PenI have been using this tablet for two years now, which I originally bought on ebay. It is beginning to get worn out and may need replacement, so I'm assuming a 2-3 year average life span on this product because I do use it rather often.

This was the first tablet I ever owned; purchased because of the low price, and it has been just fine for me. I use it on a laptop with Windows XP and Photoshop7 and despite a few quirks and occasional minor glitches it functions just fine. I had no trouble with drivers or software.

In using the product I've discovered a few quirks in working with it.

* Pressure sensitivity only works if the device is plugged in before the program you wish to use is started.

* Cannot start the computer with the device plugged in, must plug in after start up is complete.

* Pressure sensitivity can stop if the tablet is left plugged in but unused for too long, although I have not experienced this for a few months now.

* Recently, occasionally the tablet will stop recognizing the pen while working on something, but a quick tap to the keyboard will fix this. May just be a result of being old.

As this is the only tablet I have ever used I cannot compare it to more expensive brands, but I find that it works just fine for me. I use it exclusively for drawing on Photoshop7. Writing functions in Microsoft Word seem to work, but I have only tried once or twice.

I'll start by saying this tablet is very basic, and if basic is all you need you can't beat the price. Be forewarned, though, the manual included is very ...lackluster & in broken english. Also, good luck with finding a website, manufacturer phone number, or address where you can write to. Don't lose the program disc, or buy one of these that's missing the disc.

I can draw with this tablet in Corel 9, but I don't have any of the pressure sensitivity. I think the instructions try to tell me as much since I'm using XP, but it's hard to tell. No sensitivity with Windows Paint, either. But I know the function does actually work, since I can get sensitivity results in the programs own test-box, but that's it.

I just got this tablet cuz I can't afford a Wacom. I haven't been able to get it to work yet...

**UPDATE I got it working! See update in comments section. I would also give it 4 stars now that I've figured out my driver issues.**

This product is very low quality (which is why they can sell it so cheaply) and from the reviews and forums on other websites, it seems like about half of the units that are shipped are lemons. Many report that it works flawlessly out of the box. In particular people using MacOSX or Windows Vista seem to have a lot of problems but then again some others who use those operating systems said that it works like a charm. It seems to be either 1)problems with the pen not working or 2)crappy driver software. Put that together with almost non-existant customer service (the company is in China) makes it a huge risk to purchase this. I wish I would have saved for a real Wacom. You get what you pay for...

FYI, Here's a description of my own personal issues:

I'm using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.4.11. I've tried both the 1.23 and 1.24 drivers for MacOSX but nothing doesn't work. The weird thing is that it actually responds to the pen and all the lights light up when I put the pen on the tablet or push one of the buttons. But the cursor is always stuck in the lower right corner of the screen and no matter what I do I can't get it to leave that corner. If I use my mouse to move the cursor to the middle of the screen, as soon as I hover the pen over the tablet the cursor moves immediately to the lower right corner.

This is my first ever review, so if this is odd, then that's probably why.

I am VERY pleased with my graphics tablet. It is easy to use, has lots of little shortcuts on it (some of which I don't think have keyboard shortcuts) and looks pretty cool! It's also accurate and, with practice, it's very useful.

Pros:

-Pen is wireless, so there isn't anything getting in the way, and this makes the pen more easy to store.

-It only requires one AAA batery, and with just one battery my pen has lasted for months so far (Still same battery as the one I used when I got it two months ago).

-Very easy to figure out and use

-Comes with a little pen holder, which helps avoid losing the pen.

-Has many shortcuts, a few of which aren't on the keyboard.

-Has a pressure system, so the harder you press, the darker the line (or whatever else the program you're using does)

-light weight

-Easy to figure out

Cons:

-The screen has no lights of any kind, and it is hard to see the buttons unless a light is shining on it just right.

-Not a lot of programs I've seen are compatible with it.

-Looks nothing like the picture (It's black, and the pen holder is attached to it, not a separate piece, not to

mention there's no grid.

-Instruction book isn't very helpful

-Writing system that comes with it is ineffective; you have to have PERFECT handwriting or it can't read what you

write. Not to mention it's impractical.

-When in use, small annoying windows pop up when you can type in something, that just gets in the way.

All in all, this is a GREAT graphics tablet, though it's my first ever graphics tablet and so I can't really compare it to anything. Not to mention this is so CHEAP! I think it is definitely worth the buy!

So yeah, all in all I'd give it a 9/10, but since it's a 5 star system, I gave it 4 stars. If you like to do art, but don't like to buy supplies constantly, or if you like posting art online, this is a MUST! Of course, there are probably better graphics tablets out there, but this one is effective, and is by far the cheapest I've seen.

Want DigiPro WP8060 8-Inch x 6-Inch USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen Discount?

I am not going to get lengthy with this review. Bottom line, if you know how to use your computer and devices properly, and are a little computer literate this is a great deal for you. If you read the negatives, it is normally people who cannot figure out how to run the software, or people who complain about having to update drivers. NOT the fault of the tablet itself.

That being said, It is a cheaper tablet, but it is useful to me in Adobe Photoshop CS4 suite, and other applications I use it for. It of course, will take getting used to your hand movement versus drawline on screen. It is odd at first, as it is not as simple as a mouse pointer, but it grows on you quickly.

The tablet works well, update the drivers. Pen is fine, make sure you already have windows and your computer on and ready, then plug in the tablet, and open the software you want to use. It only makes sense that you need the computer to recognize the device before adobe or other software will.

Great price, very good value. If you have a hard time figuring out minor computer processes such as plug and play or updating drivers, have someone help you.

GREAT BUY!

Minuses: It is great so why I gave it only three stars?

The GPS receiving unit is just a small hard plastic device and as slick as a hockey puck on your car's dashboard. I just don't know where to put it without it sliding off into the floor board each time I make a turn. I tucked it between the winshield and the dashboard, but that is not a good place as it can be very hot under the sun.

The so-call bracket for your PCPocket is a joke. There is not a single piece of information on how it should be put together or at least how it should look like assembled. Anyway, after a some trials and errors I managed to put it together and found that it simply does not work on the car's air vent as intended. It simply cannot hold the IPAQ. It is quite frustrated because simple you cannot use this GPS receiver/IPAQ while driving unless you can find a suitable holder for your IPAQ.

For walking/hinking: Unlike other GPS's where the receiver and display is in one unit now you will have to hold two (2) devices in two hands. It simply awkward and not workable while walking/hiking. I even try to hang the GPS receiver around my neck in a clear plastic bag, but it did not work out because the receiver would bounce as I walk and make the display jittery and jumpy.

So here I have, in my opinion, a technical marvel that I really like, but as a practical matter, I cannot 1) use it in my car until I can find or devise a way to safely mount the IPAQ display, and 2) walk/hike with it because it will require two hands to hold both devices!

Additional review after three weeks, with one long trip from Texas to Florida:

Yes, it did give opposite turn instructions a few times. My guess is that, in this case the highway exits were very close to each other and the software's position predictor probably estimated that I already missed an exit/turn and issued the turn around instructions.

Bought a Akron holder for my IPAQ, so that now it can be firmly attached to my windshield at a good viewing angle.

Bought an inexpensive cell phone case, with plastic window for the GPS receiver. This cell phone case, which holds the GPS receiver, can be clipped to my belt and the GPS receiver still can receive good satellite signals.

Found out that it will take a long time to generate and down load a big map such as the entire state of Texas. I suppose this is a function of the PDA -not much I can do about it.

Wish that I can enter known GPS coordinates as destinations. Bummer.

Overall I am a much happier camper now. I jacked it up to 4 stars!

This GPS receiver appears to work great with my 4155. I've only used it a few days, but I am very pleased so far. Installation of the software and first connection to the GPS went very smoothly. I like the way that it will start the Bluetooth connection automatically on startup of the software. The maps are from NavTech and seem to be pretty complete. I've found a few mistakes, but they are generally less than the web based mapping programs. Having a power cord that is compatible with my PDA is very helpful as well.

I plan on using this GPS while hiking. GpsDash (app for navigating and tracking with a raster map) works well with this receiver.

As far as negatives, the manual is only available online in the form of a pdf. The kit came with a mounting bracket, but I can't figure out how to use it. The power switch could be a little better constructed also. These negatives are pretty minor overall.

Buy HP iPAQ Bluetooth GPS Navigation System for 1945, 2200, 3900, 4100, 4300, 5100, 5400, 5500 series Now

I ordered this to replace a Navman unit I used to use with my 3870, however I lost the 3870 and replaced it with a 4155 and this.

The good:

Excellent battery life

Excellent GPS, locks in within a minute with cold start

Bluetooth works great

The unit comes with a power adaptor using the Ipaq connector meaning you only need carry one charger around

The maps appear upto date

Software is intuitive

Routing is quick and auto-rerouting works well

Spoken instructions are particularly good. I often don't use the display

I like the points of interest and the way you can ask for a list and be directed to the nearest gas stations, restaurants etc.

Never locked up

The bad:

Only thing I've found better so far on the Navman was the map display

Generally very impressed!

The Hp Gps unit is a good buy, It has its pro's and cons. But overall is a great buy. Don't pay more than $200 for the unit though. Pros: The unit is small and easy to operate, Connects quickly and reliably, software is great and fairly reliable.

Cons: The holder as many have writtin is cheesy and cheap, it rocks when you make corners and requires you to tape a button with double sided tape to the back of your PDA. I would reccomend a different mount and one with a speaker like the ARKON Powered PDA & GPS Mount Kit listed in another review. I would also reccomend using velcro to fasten the gps unit to your dash otherwise it slides around. As far as using the gps for walking, it is a bit of a pain to use unless you put it in a T-shirt pocket, anything thicker than that and it wont recieve a signal.I sewed a velcro strip to my jacket and stick the gps to that. Also I would reccomend having at least a 256 or 516mb memory card in your PDA If you plan on travelling state to state. I put 5 state maps on my pda and it fills my 256mb card. So the more memory you have the farther you can go.

I have been using this for a week and am quite pleased with it. I downloaded the maps for CA and the surrounding states (AZ, NV and OR) and they all fit with room to spare in the 256 MB SD card of my 4355. I have used the Magellan several times when I rented from Hertz and I found the interface much much better. The feature that I like the best is that you could set your destination using your Outlook contacts; no need to enter address or street names.

I am giving it 4.5 stars because of an annoying feature of the flashing BT blue light from the 4355 (which is not really the fault of the GPS device)when driving at night but otherwise a really great product.

Sony PEG-T415 Clie Handheld

Sony PEG-T415 Clie HandheldAlthough the PDA market is moving towards color, I decided to go with the latest monochrome offering from Sony. I loved the sleek design and the 320x320 screen. I feel that all Palm based PDA's function exactly the same (no matter how hard they try to market them separately). You're paying for the design and in some cases compatibility. The USB connection and the rechargable battery were also pluses for me. The software that came with the t415 is great but taxing on the memory if you install all of its offerings (3rd party software is not essential to utilize Clie)

I was disappointed with the screen though. It looks nothing like how Sony has posted it on the web site. The text and pictures are very sharp but the t415 uses reflective technology similar to the Palm m505. So if you're using it in a dim room and the light isn't hitting the screen at just the right angle, it's really difficult to see. No problems in bright, direct light. One other flaw is the placement of the buttons. If you look at the Clie from the side, the task buttons stick out ever so slightly so if you carry it in your pocket using the cover, you could accidently hit the butttons and turn it on. Sony should try and improve that aspect of the Clie. PC users should have no problems syncing. Mac users on the other hand will have to purchase "missing sync" software from markspace.com.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the t415. If you want a cheaper monochrome PDA you might want to check out the VisorEdge which is now ($$$). If you want color, I hear that the best thing to do is wait until the New Year arrives.

When my Palm IIIxe started getting flaky, I looked around for a new handheld. I wanted the Sony Clie 610, but apparently they're discontinuing it now--everyone's out of stock, including Sony's own store. Why they'd discontinue a popular midrange color handheld when the market is moving that way, I've no idea. The alternatives were to pay $... more for the audio capabilities of the 760, or pay $... less for the b/w 415. I chose the 415 because I don't really want or need the audio, and I liked the slim design.

Overall, this is a great device. There IS a contrast control, contrary to what one of the other reviewers said--it's right on the front of the device in the bottom left hand corner of the input area. I do agree that the screen is dim and hard to read, but I find that in most cases the backlight helps, and since the battery is rechargeable, I don't worry too much about keeping the backlight on.

The high res display is neat, and I think worth a little extra. I am not super-impressed with the pictures and movies--I think they'd work better on the color screen. I like the ability to use the Memory Stick, though I haven't tried it yet. Getting the data to my new Clie from the old Palm was very easy, thankfully. And there are a number of small features and 3rd-party apps that make this better than my old Palm. The WA Clock, for one, which allows you to.. *gasp* set an alarm without making a date book entry. The Clie can play various different sounds for an alarm, too. A lot of the 3rd-party apps are limited or trial versions, but Documents To Go (which allows you to share Word and Excel documents) is a welcome addition.

My biggest gripe is that Sony has changed the connector on this handheld from previous Clies, so the Targus keyboard I bought (which claims to work with "Sony Clie Handhelds") doesn't fit it. Even the salesperson didn't seem aware of this, and Sony sure hasn't gone out of their way to publicize it; the only way you can tell is to note that there are separate versions of some of their peripherals for the 415 and for the 320/610/760 group. Oh well.. if they hadn't done that, this would've been a five-star machine.

I find that I'm the kind of person who wants to purchase the "top-of-the-line" in gadgets. However, I am also the kind of person who can't ever afford it. So I have to be an efficient shopper to get satisfaction. I must have read 50 or more reviews for this product (and a select few others)before I decided to purchase it. I knew that since I was ordering it I would not like the idea of having to send it back. The majority of the reviews I read on the T415 all complain of a screen that is anything from irritatingly dim to impossible to use. In fact numerous people claimed to have returned the T415 in favor of another handheld. I was disappointed to hear this since I really enjoy higher resolution whenever I can get it and I LOVED the idea of being able to customize the alarm sound however I wanted.

I finally got the chance to...check it out on display. Now I understand the problems that people were having.......they need to take more vitamins and get their eyes checked. I ordered one right away. The screen is head and shoulder above all the other handheld I have seen. I LOVE the that I can get more information on the screen at once. That means smaller fonts and icons people! If you can thread a needle, you'll handle this gadget well. I you cant even see a needle when you hold it in you hand, look elsewhere for you plam device. The sound function is as cool as I expected. Don't expect to throw out all your stereo equipment or anything but it's cool none the less.

The screen doesnt have the same near iridescent background as a few other palms and some digital watches but it is not noticably dimmer than any other LCD screened device. (cell phones, calculators, ect...) I own a wizard organizer and the screen is slightly clearer and many time sharper that that. PLUS the bluish hint to the the gray scale along with the black on the screen actually makes this more of a "duochromatic" rather that monochromatic pda. Two colors rather than just one.

If any of the features above are intriguing to you, I recommend you choose the T415. Provided you don't want to spend the extra cash for the color version of essentially the same device. The color version does have I clearer screen as is expected...it's COLOR for pity's sake. You get what you pay for.

I must agree that I have not yet found the solution for the button problem. I dont mind the shape. I dont mind the tiny scroll "lever" (it's not even really a button). I just can't seem to stop the thing from turning on no matter where it is. Pocket, briefcase, soft pda case, wherever. I'm currently looking into some sort of hard case but there are few options for such a unique sized and shaped device.

I've read some of the other reviews, and I disagree with many of the gripes. I played with several handhelds before deciding on the Clie 415. The 320 resolution is wonderful; true, it isn't as pretty or eye-catching as the color displays, but the 320 is much easier to read than the lower resolution found on the lower-end clie and the handspring and palm systems. The display can be dim, but it is not any dimmer than any other handheld I played with, and it was actually easier to read for me than some b/c of the 320 display. I actually paid more money for the 415 b/c I wanted the display upgrade from the lower end clie. Also, it was much more attractive looking b/c of it's super-slimness and cute body styling, but it still had the memory slot for expandsion (plus Sony now has a memorystick camera for the clie out now).

I don't know about the remote feature, since I have a perfectly good remote control at home that works just fine. I do think it was silly of Sony to put a remote feature on the clie.

Documents to Go has been a life-saver to me. I am a very busy person and it helps being able to write and edit documents on the run.

The only gripe I truely have with it is, and this is not Sony's fault, that you can't get Handsprings datebook+ to go on it. The datebook plus has a week in view that shows a week and displays what you have scheduled, not just the bars representing that you have something scheduled. I tried to download the only version of datebook plus I could find on the internet (a beta version) and it froze the system up, so I had to delete it. That was the only reason I even considered a handspring over this product.

Overall, I have become thourougly dependent on this product and love it... I just wish I could upgrade to the color, but I could not justify paying so much extra for the color when I really wouldn't use it, it would just be for show.

Want Sony PEG-T415 Clie Handheld Discount?

The Clie 415T would have rated 5 stars if not for its extremely dim screen.

I bought the 415T and used it for 3 weeks before returning it and buying a Clie 610C. (I highly recommend the 610C.) While I absolutely loved the 415T's thin, brushed aluminum chassis, I just couldn't get used to how dim the screen is. If there is any kind of bright light behind you the screen is almost impossible to read. You need to have the back light on almost all the time, and even that was unsatisfactory. The blue-green back light is too weak to remedy the situation.

Another disappointment is the "Screen Commander," Sony's program that turns the Clie into a remote control unit for your TV and SOME other components. Not that I bought the Clie for this feature, but it would have been cool if it had worked well. The problem is that the 415T will only control 4 components at a time: your TV, DVD, VCR and receiver. It will NOT control your cable box or a CD changer, so for me the feature turned out to be worthless.

Bottom line, though is that the screen is just too dim. If Sony fixes the screen brightness they will have a real winner on their hands, because the 415T has by far the coolest form factor of any PDA.
