PalmOne Tungsten E Handheld

PalmOne Tungsten E HandheldAs some of you might know, I always speak the truth, so here is my honest review of this Palm Tungsten E.

I purchased this item to replace my old Palm m515 (which had originally replaced my first palm, a Palm V). As you probably guessed, I have to have a small handheld. In my opinion, if it isn't small enough, you won't bring it with you and actually use the thing. I also have been a fond lover of this form factor (very thin and light with double-stylus holder, etc.

Well, they finally listened to us complaining of the previous left side "flap holder" and made the flap slide in from the bottom of the palm as apposed to the top. This was a large problem -I've had my old palms slide out on me at random by holding it from the flap.

The good: This palm has an astounding display! It literally feels as though you have a small computer in your hand as other reviewers have mentioned. Quality all the way here. Large enough to be easily readable, and a brightness level adjustment that gets quite bright! The buttons on the bottom "mostly" have a positive feedback. I'll discuss the bottom lack of a universal connector last. This palm accepts SD cards and has a headphone jack on the top. Processor is incredible compared to my old m515 and especially the V. Power button is recessed so you can't "accidentally" turn it on as easily as past models.

Honestly, I must mention that I've tried to purchase quite a few MP3 players out there and they have all had quirky problems. I didn't even expect to use the mp3 capabilities of this PDA but look at that -it works/sounds better than anything I've purchased for the same cost that was dedicated to MP3s!!! I am truly astounded by it.

The bad/interesting: As I mentioned above, the buttons mostly have tactile feedback, but that square ring of a button-pad in the center is a bit odd because pushing down requires quite a bit more force than up and does not result in a "click". Hrm...I guess it just sort of happened because of the small size of this unit (4.6 oz folks yes you heard me right!).

Finally, that bottom connector issue that has quite an argument brewing. This is the only Tungsten lacking a universal connector on the bottom which means you can't use all those old accessories which utilized that port. Lets look at some other aspects here....It uses a standard USB cable which means you're not restricted to palm to purchase additional hotsync cables. Also, it has a small power cord which plugs in the other port on the bottom. This I think is wonderful because I can actually take the power cable/charger and charge it on vacation or wherever I am. No longer do I have to lug around the cradle in my suitcase!

Finally, the iffy: This palm looks like metal but alas is made out of plastic. Rest assured it is extremely sturdy plastic -no creaking or anything Handspring-like and the plastic is actually the color you see -that silver color. So we shouldn't have to worry about any coating chipping off and revealing an ugly color underneath.

So far, I'm extremely pleased with this palm, and though it has these minute setbacks, I still think it is a wonderful unit especially for the price. I was able to keep my small form factor and get a wonderful display and an overall great feature set. Finally I must mention that this comes with a LOT of software. Documents to go Ver 6 which allows you to read/write word, excel and powerpoint docs, an mp3 player by realone, photo viewer, and the list goes on and on. Add that to their new personal manager programs like Contact and Calendar and you have a winning combination! If you're on the borderline between this and the new T3 well, I chose it because I'm not all that trusting of the slider mechanism. I like a palm that sits there with the least amount of moving parts/possible failure points. Hopefully this review helps out in your search for the perfect PDA.

T|E is an excellent device with minor problems. For the price its a bargain and will ensure Palm's market share stays high.

Pro's,

1. Its a Palm, with the latest version of Palm OS.

2. Looks good and feels solid in hand.

3. Superb screen and extremely clear.

4. mp3 playback is very good.

5. Uses standard mini USB jack, not propreitary Palm connector.

6. Fast performance. Don't compare raw MHz between PDA's, this one's faster than 400MHz PPC's.

7. About 28MB is available memory, which is a lot for a Palm.

8. Good software bundle and stable OS.

9. Speaker is suprisingly good at playing mp3's (64kpbs sounds great).

10. Flip lid and a screen protector are in the box. (I don't buy a PDA without flip)

11. Stylus is superb, thick/heavy/shinning metal.

Con's,

1. Down button is hard to press, ironically that's the most used button on T|E. The 5 way navigator is poorly designed and cheap plastic.

2. Size is bigger than some other handhelds like Clie SJ20.

3. Case is slippery and tough to keep clean.

4. Thread on included flip cover scratches T|E at the top easily.

5. Battery life is just like Pocket PC's, needs charging frequently.

6. Included charger is not a world charger and is bulky.

7. No bluetooth or Wifi but atleast it has SDIO slot (poor Clie fans have to put up with propreitary memory stink slot).

8. Weak alarm sounds (think this can be fixed?) and no vibrate only mode.

9. Packaging in plastic box is tough to open and not eco friendly.

10. Battery is not user replaceable. (dead Palm after 2 years?)

Most of the minor issues with T|E will go away if you spend double and get a T|T3. Overall this is a great Palm at affordable price. Thanks Palm!

At last, Palm gets it right -A high quality, low price PDA with all the features you need, and none you don't. This is quite simply, a beautiful piece of engineering, and whether you are new to PDAs or upgrading, you will not be disappointed...

For a bargain price of 200 smackers, Palm provides the following key features:

1) A top-notch, large, hi-res screen (check it out in a store first). Many previous Palms have skimped on the screen -a big no-no in my book. I'd much rather have a slower processor than an unreadable (m505) or too-small screen (Zire, m100). Pointing and clicking on a Palm is hard enough without having a small, dark screen to boot.

2) Generous 32 MB Ram. Finally, Palm stops skimping on this important area! It's not enough to make you ditch your iPod, but you can play a few tunes, look at a few pictures, transfer some files. This is a big improvement from the bad-old 8 MB days, which is Okay for contacts but worthless for anything else.

3) Rechargeable lithium polymer. Top notch. No skimping, no muss, no fuss.

4) Great design. Clean, simple, portable, shirt-pocketable. No keyboard, but I've never been a thumbpad fan.

5) MS Office functions included -Word, Outlook, Powerpoint. Why you would use them, however, is a bit bizarre to me. Who wants to spend the time coding in a Powerpoint presentation with a stylus? Yet, if this is important to you, it's here. And having your email with you can be a plus...

As for what you won't get: There is no phone, no camera, no thumbpad, no Bluetooth, no WiFi. This is close to a pure PDA, though it can display pictures and double as a poor-man's MP3 player. That's what I was looking for.

Here's a basic product guide:

New Palm Zire -Bargain basement model with 7.2 MB of Ram, upgraded from hobbled 2 MB original model. About 100 smackers. Often offered free as bundle deals with new computers. Good starter model for the price. Includes rechargeable battery. Memory can not be upgraded. Horribly skimpy black-on-grey screen.

Tungsten T2, etc.: Deluxe models that feature, in some cases, larger screens/Bluetooth wireless connectivity/thumbpads with dropdown graffiti screens. All unnecessary features in my book, especially given their much higher prices.

Clie models (SJ30, etc.) recently have owned the mid-range of the Palm product line, providing color screens, style and multimedia features for less than Palm. But no longer. The Clie models simply can not compete with this new Palm -they feel and look clunky in comparison and generally feature smaller, dimmer screens. And the upper-echelon Clie models get very expensive.

Sony models also have a reputation for less-stellar customer service. (I've had excellent service from Palm.)

The Treo models from Handspring/Palm should be considered if you are a thumbpad fan, or if you want your PDA to also be your phone. But let's face it, how many people can afford spending four hundred smackers on a PDA?

BTW, when comparing, I've found you can generally ignore the speed of the processor. For most Palm functions, the reaction time is near instantaneous, or at most a second or two lag.

As for PocketPCs, some of them are now very attractively priced and are worth checking out. I've yet to use one extensively, so I'll stick to what I know -Palms are simple, easy to use and almost guaranteed to improve your productivity. It's like having a backup for your brain. And who doesn't need that?

Enjoy!

I applaud Palm's decision to give us a low cost way into the Tungsten family. It's missing the universal connector but all of the Tungsten power is there, along with a really nice display.

I would highly recommend getting an SD card to make full use of this device. In fact the MP3 player requires it. Spend the extra $70. You can fit a fair amount of music, a ton of ebooks, and a bunch of apps on a 256MB card.

If you are concerned with a lack of Bluetooth or WiFi, keep in mind that Bluetooth SD adapters are on the market and 802.11B cards are coming soon.

(note: I've had mine for about a month now.)

Everyone is reading the below review (incl. my friends) and thinks this is in a plastic shellso they are not buying it because of that. However, it is actually thin, buffed steel (hence the amazingly durable plastic comment.) Look at the edges, where the speakers open up, and where it folds over. Even take a knife and cut into it!

What I like:

-Traveling (and charging) with the standard miniusb cable.

-Great as an mp3 player (use aeroplayer)

-I downloaded updated high-res, color versions of my old software and it's wonderfully easy on my eyes.

-The photo album is great, I put 500+ pictures on their to show off :)

-Came with tons of useful software

-Fold-over flap is elegant and protects it well (esp. since I keep it in my back pocket, sit on it evenwithout problems.) That's the main reason I bought this instead of the other choices actually :p

-Has enough memory that I stored ALL of my apps, dictionaries, and databases on the internal memory.. even avantgo (which I adore.)

Jawbone Icon - The Bombshell

Jawbone Icon - The BombshellWell, this is a family thing, My son, now his wife and I are all proud owners of the Jawbone ICON. Each of us LOVES this product. It is in fact the best I've ever owned.

I love this Jawbone for many reasons. It is so convenient and comfortable to wear. I forget I have it on. But I also love it because it is simply beautiful. I've had many people stop me in retail stores to ask if it's a blue tooth device or a piece of jewelry. I always give them the name and where to purchase one. I have the gold but there are other colors to choose from. This is definite the ladies choice and is a lovely accent piece in addition to being one of THE BEST ear buds out there. But why wouldn't it be. It's a Jawbone!

Buy Jawbone Icon - The Bombshell Now

This very overpriced bluetooth device does not fit into the ear, nor does it stay in place. The sound was good on the receiving end and tolerable on the other end, although people said they could hear background noise. I would turn it on and it would be connected, then arbitrarily the connection to my phone would break and there would be no sound either in the bluetooth OR in the phone! I had my cell phone checked and it was not the problem. I finally lost this bluetooth device and have replaced it with a Motorola that cost 1/5 the price and fits, stays connected and has better sound and is easier to use! I am very disappointed in the Jawbone, which I purchased after reading tons of reviews.

HP Slim Keyboard Expansion Pack for iPAQ 3800, 3900, 4100, 5100, 5400, 5500 Series

HP Slim Keyboard Expansion Pack for iPAQ 3800, 3900, 4100, 5100, 5400, 5500 SeriesKeyboard is well designed and fits solidly to Ipaq. Keys are well defined and provide positive feedback when pressed. A see-through plastic cover like the one that comes with the basic unit is attached to the keyboard and serves to protect the screen if the unit is in your pocket or briefcase. Overall good ergonomics for the hardware.

I'd like to say I leave the slim keyboard attached all the time and use it regularly, but I don't because it doesn't deliver in performance. The software is buggy and conflicts with other programs. Sometimes it works fine, other times it types random characters other times it doesn't type at all. Despite HP's updates to the driver, it is still buggy, so it sits in a drawer until HP releases another update, then I'll try it again. I also have the HP folding keyboard which I use regularly without any problems, so I have to conclude it is a problem with the slim keyboard. Attempts to bring the problems to the attention of HP resulted in no reply to my emails.

It works well after I spent time working with HP customer service. Here is what happened:

I bought the slim keyboard (let's call it "s1") here at Amazon. When I insert my IPAQ 5555 the first time after following instructions to upload softwares...etc. Nothing worked. Hitting the keys did not put any letters in the test area. When I set the whole contraption on the cradle, I can see it is connected. Light came on. My desk top wouldn't recognize the device at all. What happened was the s1 and my ipaq didn't fit perfectly. You can't just push it in. You have to push it forward (with fingers on battery side) as you slide it down to get to hearing a "click" as it is described in the manual. (I found this tip from searching the net). Even so, the contacts were not flush with each other.

I called HP service (they are great). They shipped me a replacement right away. I got it in 2 days. Let's call the 2nd one "s2". Apparently the s1 from Amazon was from an older batch. s2 fits easily and much better. Still, nothing worked. IPAQ won't sync with s2 attached via the cradle.

Called HP and they told me that the slim keyboard was developed for early IPAQ models while 5555 was newly added. They also pointed out that there were firmware and software updates for my 5555 at the HP download sites. One of the firmwares is a bios update. I thought "Oh, Great!", I was going to screw up everything now updating the bios myself. I didn't have much luck updating bios on my desktop before. So I backed up my files. Get all the extra software I loaded ready so I can reload everything afterwards. Updating bios will erase everything and restore to factory defaults. Well I did it and s2 worked beautifully. I sent my s1 back to HP.

Then I noticed the s2 has some foreign characters on the alternate keys (those that you get to with hitting the "function" key first). It looks like that the keyboard is built for a different country. So, I called HP again. They sent me another replacement keyboard (s3). I sent back s2.

Well, s3 has the "z" and the "y" keys switched position. I called HP, got them to send s4 and I returned s3.

Now, I have been using the s4 for months and loved it. With s4 attached, the unit is too long to fit in any carrying case, so I have to be careful. It also covers up the finger print scanner, so that feature is out.

My experience: I love HP customer service. They were nice. They called me for followups after my call to see if everything was working each time. They shipped promptly and returning was easy. Didn't cost me a dime. Cost HP a lot I am sure. At first I didn' t like the extra plastic cover because when I need to touch screen, I have to open it. What a hassle. Now I am used to it.

I sometimes rather use the soft-keyboard that is built in, since that annoying screen protector is always in the way. Also the keyboard has shown me no glitches, but it is very hard to use especially in the dark [since it has no backlight].

I keep it on at all times, just in case... I recommend it for those who do A LOT of typing on the go.

Also it is possible to use the Targus [Stowaway] keyboard with it, you just have to make sure that the other device is disabled when using the current typing device respectively.

I read the other reviews and suspect that the problems with this keyboard have revolved around issues with the IPAQ bios and not the keyboard itself. Also this unit support many models so it is difficult to judge it. So my review is based on my model 5500 experience.

Worked fine out of the box but did need the latest drivers. NO bios change required.

As far as a keyboard goes this unit works great...good spacing and high domes help hit the right key. I did not like the smoked plastic screen protector..it should have been clear but it hinges out of the way.

This is more than a keyboard...it is a case to protect the product.

TREO PRO BATTERY

TREO PRO BATTERY
  • Compatible with - Treo 700p, Treo 700wx, Treo 700w, Treo 650, Treo 600

I am totally disappointed with the batteries i received from the company (Celllounge.com)that sent them. The first battery was deficient and wouldn't hold a charge. They sent me another one. The 2nd one they sent doesn't fit my Palm Treo phone. It clearly has htc innovation printed on it.

Buy TREO PRO BATTERY Now

I bought this battery to replace the original battery that was no longer holding a charge for my palm treo pro. To keep the review short and sweet, I just wanted to comment that the purchased battery, while it is an 'original' palm battery, it came in an opened, unsealed plastic bag. Ok, not a big deal, as long as it works well. Upon close inspection, the gold/copper terminals on the battery had some contact marks on there, meaning that they seemed to have been installed previously. They couldn't be "test" marks because they were deeper than the incidental one or two time installation.

After doing a full cycle of charging and discharging the battery, it was slightly better than the original battery it was replacing, but then after about a month of use, the battery charge was probably holding as well as my original battery that was replaced. In other words, I honestly feel that I was sold a pre-owned battery, and not a brand new one as described in the item description. Very unscrupulous supplier. I know Amazon uses multiple suppliers for any one item at any time, however, it's my opinion that you should steer clear from buying this and save yourself the hasssle and the allure of the low pricing. Amazon needs to police these types of things better. If you really need this battery and want to be guaranteed it's brand new, you should look elsewhere.

Or, just get a new phone instead! That's what I need to do. :)

My Palm Pro occasionally burns through battery pretty fast, so when I got a charger that included a spot for a spare battery, I got one of these. I marked my batteries so I could tell which one was the original, and if it weren't for that, I'd never be able to tell. They perform the same.

This chip has extended my Canon Digital Rebel EOS to over 840 shots which is more than I will probably ever use but the capacity exists. I recently took 387 shots at the Rose Bowl Parade. The price is unbelievable, the shipping was very fast, and the performance is above reproach. I would certainly recommend it in every way.

I bought this chip for a back up for my new Canon Rebel XTi that I bought. While taking pictures at the beach it stored over 150pictures as corrupted files and when I went to remove the pictures that didn't get messed up, the chip fried and I have lost all my pictures and it no longer works in my camera! Not worth the hassle or the heart ache. As i'm wanting to make money in the profession of photography I can not have equipment that destroys what I photos I take. I need something that is consistent and long lasting. This product is neither. VERY disappointed!

Also the chip pictured is NOT what you receive! I received a white chip!

I ordered 3 of these for our organization. Were on a budget so I ordered the cheapest ones. One of the cards is not working, though. It can be read and formatted by the camera but the computer can not read it. I have tried multiple computers (all PCs). I've used the built in card readers, external card readers, and attempted plugging the cameraall with no luck. It's only $7 so it's not terrible, but still... I'd like working cards for our students.

Also, the card you receive is not the card that is pictured. I received some orange generic thing.

Before I decided on this scanner, I was deliberating between 5 others. Even though this scanner does not scan at 900 x 900 dpi or have dual rollers, offered by others, I've found that the features and benefits it does have meet my needs. I absolutely love that it has a rechargeable battery instead of AA's and provides the option for bluetooth transferring. I was hesitant to purchase after reading so many reviews about faulty LCD screens, but I'm glad I took the risk! I've had zero issues and am satisfied with the quality of the scans. I definitely recommend this product and advise users to practice scanning and to read the manual to ensure a good experience

I had to return this product because Bluetooth never worked. once I waited for 1hr to see if it would work but it never did.

images were pretty good, I used it mostly to scanned my books so I didn't have to carry them around and resolution was very decent.

after I converted the images to a pdf file, it look very good, almost like the regular scans you can get with a expensive scanner.

for school work and quick paperwork it is a very good product and the price its good too.

the problem with mine was Bluetooth part, since I use it a lot it wasn't the best product for me.

This item was packaged well and arrived on time without damage to the box or the unit.

I use this item regularly, at least twice per week to scan multiple documents that I need to share with others.

The unit took a few scans to get used to how fast or slow you need to slide the unit. But after learning what it likes the unit works real well. I love the Bluetooth feature as well. Simple to connect and download images.

The only drawback is the fact that the unit does not have any memory at all. You must supply your own microSD card.

The scanner is very simple to operate, and the results are very good!

Unlike others, I found the documentation concise, and very clear.

The only (minor) issue is that the LCD display is tiny, so the icons are a bit hard to see... until you know what it is about.

The separate scanning table (accessory) is inexpensive too, but so far (short experience), I have not find it very useful.

Overall, a very nice product : go for it !

rooCASE Netbook Carrying Bag for Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ 11.6-Inch HD Netbook - Deluxe Series Dark Blue / BlackI purchased this bag for my kid he has a 10 in notebook , it fits it perfectly, Best deal for the money

I bought this case for my new 11.6" Samsung Chromebook. There are a lot of very good things to say about this case.

It is just a bit pricey at $29.75, but seems very well made and is very stylish.

PROS:

good construction

lots of pockets

handles are very comfortable, and stay out of the way when accessing laptop

chromebook fits securely but also room in external pockets for mouse, ear buds, power brick, etc.

CON:

Only one thing keeps this from getting 5 stars. The inside of the case has two compartments. One is clearly for the laptop. It is just slightly smaller because of the way the divider is attached. None of this is a problem, the laptop fits into the slightly smaller size although it is a tighter fit (but not to tight). My problem is on the other half. This side is more for papers, books, etc. (see images) The problem is there is a zipper pocket on the inside of this other half. If you make the mistake of putting your device on that size, the zipper pull might mar the finish. I would have left this zipper pocket off.

That said, this is a great case. Stylish and very functional. Put the laptop/tablet in the correct side of the case (or at least position the bottom of the device toward the zipper on the other side).

Compaq iPAQ 3630 Color Pocket PC

Compaq iPAQ 3630 Color Pocket PCI bought the iPAQ because I wanted to upgrade from my Palm to a color screen, and the Palm color display was just terrible. Enter the iPAQ, a stylish executive gadget with a great color display, and a built-in MP3 player. Add the built-in speaker with a joypad, and this unit would be great for games too! So I ordered one, and after months of waiting, it arrived.

The first thing that struck me was that the reset door was not closing, but rattled like a rattlesnake if you moved the unit. Research on the internet showed that this was a common flaw, but it could be fixed by bending the door with a small screwdriver.

Next I found out that dust had entered the display, and due to the construction of the backlighting, dust particles shine brightly and can only be removed by fishing them out with a long hair. Apparently this too is a common problem, since Compaq forgot to seal the display of the unit, so dust can enter between the display and the touchscreen foil. Compaq does exchange the iPAQ if there is dust in the display, but the replacement unit will have the exact same problems since this is caused by an engineering flaw. So don't bother sending it in until Compaq has a real fix.

The MP3 player proved to be pretty much unusable, because the amplifier is switched off and back on between tracks, causing a deafening popping noise on the headphones. Compaq has promised a firmware update to remedy this problem, but that keeps getting postponed every two weeks, the latest announcement is sometime next year. I won't hold my breath.

Using the unit for games is also all but impossible, because the joypad/buttons are somewhat limited by the hardware design.

Don't be fooled by the metal looking case; it's really just painted plastic, and the paint comes off easily. Just slide on one of the Expansion Packs regularly and see for yourself where the scratches develop.

By now I was subscribed to a forum and found out about a myriad of other problems, including that the symbols on the buttons rub off after a few weeks of using them. Compaq thinks this is normal, so my conclusion would be: don't use them. Great. My advice to Compaq: don't print on metal unless you're certain the paint will stick! The paint on my (plastic) Palm buttons stayed on for two years, and probably will stay on for another twenty.

Would I buy it again? Yes and no. The iPAQ was a great idea, it's currently the fastest Pocket PC around, and if it didn't have the quality problems it has, I'd buy it again. But for this price I expect a unit that works as reliably as my Palm did, that I can actually use daily and not just carry around and not use it to prevent it from becoming unusable.

Unfortunately the demand is currently so great that Compaq seems to be getting away with anything, as people don't care about the problems as long as they can get their hands on an iPAQ. Personally, if I were you, I'd wait a while until either Compaq gets things done right, or the competition comes up with a similar product which doesn't have the problems the iPAQ has.

If you're waiting for the iPAQ to become available again, stop waiting and be glad you didn't spend your money on this prototype that accidentally went into production, and spend your money on something else instead.

I purchased the Compaq Ipaq not out of dire necessity, but mostly because of the many features it has:

One, it looks the best out of all of the PDA's. It has a sleek, futuristic, design, unlike the Jornada, for example, which is just plain black.

Two, the stylus can store inside of the body, so there is less of a chance of losing it and you don't have to carry it around separately.

Three, It has an Mp3 player, which is one of the main reasons I picked it over the Palm and Visor, in which an Mp3 expansion costs as much as the PDA itself.

Four, the writing area is retractable and there is an on-screen keyboard; the Palm and Visor don't have the keyboard, and the writing area takes up precious screen space.

Five, the processor is an Intel Strong ARM 206MHz; the other pocket PC's only have 133MHz or lower, and they're not Intel, which is the best and most reliable processor.

Six, it doubles as an E-book, you can read books on your iPaq with Microsoft Reader and download them from numerous websites, even a thesaurus and dictionary; the Palm doesn't have this feature and the Visor expansion is expensive and you can only choose from a selection of four books.

Seven, one of the most important factors in my buying the iPaq is the color screen; the resolution is the best out there, especially compared to the color Palm and Visor PDA's, which are expensive and have very low resolution. Not much of an improvement from a Game Boy.

I went through excruciating research on the other PDA's before I decided on the iPaq, visiting Casio, HP, Visor, Palm, and Compaq. The Palm and Visor I ruled out immediately after seeing the capability of the Pocket PC's. I looked at CNET, Epinions, and PDA Buzz, and went to my local Best Buy, CompUSA, and Circuit City. I saw that it got high praise from many electronics and technology magazines, such as Best of the Year from Popular Science.

It took me 2 weeks before my final decision. That was two weeks too late, into the middle of the Christmas shopping frenzy. Almost every retailer was out because of the popularity of the iPaq and on eBay, it cost around $600-$700. I finally snagged it at a Brandsmart USA, it was the last one.

A very useful feature is AvantGo, which is included. You can load your favorite web site onto your iPaq for viewing anywhere. Also, you can read the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, USAToday, you can play Jeopardy from SonyStation, you can access Yahoo(with movies, news, sports, stocks, etc.), and thousands of other sites.

There are many games and lots of software that you can download for it, like Flight Simulator.

I am very happy with my iPaq, and I would suggest it to anyone. It's good for the music lover, disorganized person, businessman, etc.

This is a great product. DUST DOES NOT ENTER THE SCREEN. People saying that is incorrect. What was behind the screen had nothing to do with dust. Compaq had a problem with a company in Taiwan that installs the screen. Do to poor work tiny glass fragments were left behind. That is what the so called "dust" is. This problem has been fixed with all the new iPaqs. Amazon.com only sells new ones, their will NOT be a problem with the screen. Microsoft activesync has a problem when other usb devices are in the computer. I found Microsoft ridiculous when you call user support. Your best bet is to call compaq where they will give a solution that works perfectly. There is a lot of softweare for the ipaq out, and much more coming. For gamers, go to PocketGamer.org for all the gaming news. You can get great emulators to play all the old Nintendo and SuperNintendo games. I recomend the IBM microdrive or if that is too expensive get the Viking cf card. This is by far the best Pocket PC on the line. The 3630 and the 3650 are the exact same product w/ ho differences what so all. I called Compaq to confirm this. The only difference w/ the new compaq 3635 is the cf card that comes w/ it. The new one costs 100 dollars more, where you can buy a cf expansion pack for 35 dollars. I recomend getting the 3635 or 3650.

I've owned this unit now for 3 months. I've got the PC Card expansion for it, allowing me to use a wireless ethernet card to surf the web when I'm at home. The included applications from contact management to excel and word are all first rate. The synchronization is fantanstic (much better than old CE devices). I actually sync via the wireless card. I read and send my email through this thing. It really is much close to a full function laptop in terms of capabilities that a contact management device such as a palm. I've also got the Pharo GPS device/software combo for it, works great, actually talks you through the directions as you drive! The Reader software is also fantastic. I've read a couple of books (the ClearType is amazingly smooth and readable) and the best part of it is I don't have to leave the light on to read! Your significant other would appreciate that!

I would strongly recommend this product.

When i first bought my ipaq in november, i hated the fact that my computer wouldnt recognize with active sync all the time. but i found a solution that has yet to fail. do the following:

1. when active states "connecting" and it doesnt connect. take your ipaq off the cradle. 2. when active sync now says "disconnected" click on file, then get connected 3. another screen pops up and on this click next or ok 4. now a screen that shows that your computer is searching for your ipaq on all ports shows up. 5. turn off your ipaq and set it on the cradle. 6. ipaq turns on and connects.

this works all the time when i have the problem and i never have to restart the computer.

It works as expected, fitting into both the vehicle's charger and the telephone's recepticle as it should, without movement, rattle, or shake, typical of an original equipement manufacture's accessory. What adds to the features of this unit is that the price was that much better from Amazon much less than any retail or wholesale emporium, and delivered directly to you. No searching for a quality peice at whatever price, wasting both time and petrol in that search.

Overall, this unit rates a solid 'ten', or five complete stars.

Portable Emergency AA Battery Charge Extender for the Motorola DROID - uses Gomadic TipExchange Tec

Portable Emergency AA Battery Charge Extender for the Motorola DROID - uses Gomadic TipExchange TechnologyIf you are looking at this product as a portable charger for you Droid look elsewhere. What this product does, (and how it is described) is extend the charge of your phone when your charge level gets low. It will not recharge your phone. When you unplug your phone after several hours of use beyond what you would normally have gotten without the extender, the charge level will be close to or at the same level as when you plugged it in. It will not be at a higher charge leve.

Wonderful seller. Never had a more positive buying experience in my life! I bought an Emergency Battery Extender for the Amazon Kindle 1. The very next day, my Kindle broke (got stepped on). I immediately went to Amazon's website and bought the latest Kindle 3.

So here I was, with a $20.00 (+s&h!) Gomadic Charger in the mail for a Kindle 1 that no longer existed, and an incompatible (charging adapter wise) Kindle 3 on its way!

I immediately emailed Gomadic Customer Support, explaining the problem and asking how it can be remedied, because otherwise I'd reluctantly have to return the product (they have unconditional 30-day return policy).

To my agreeable surprise, they answered my email within a couple of hours of my sending it to them, and informed me they were sorry to hear of my broken Kindle, and that they had already mailed me the appropriate adapter so I could charge my new Kindle 3, all free of charge.

If that ain't the Rolls-Royce of customer support, I don't know what is.

16GB Secure Digital Memory

16GB Secure Digital MemoryWhen I was looking at the video camera I read the reviews and there was one that said to get this and that.. The 16GB SDHC card was a must as well and so far it has done what it is supposed to do.. It gives me over three hours of space in the highest quality setting on the camera, more than enough for now anyway, I have yet to run even close to out of space on it.. The lesser settings will give more time and less quality but for the money this was the best way to go.. I don't have a laptop computer to transfer the videos from while on trips so the 16GB was a good thing there too.. Anyone else has a laptop type of computer and they might need an 8GB or less card... I'll put it through the big test this summer with a family trip.. But I think this card deserves the five star maximum rating..

Not much I can say other than it worked right from the first use. Installed into my new Nikon digital camera and has worked flawless. Works as advertised.

BookArmor (tm) BookCover Edition Travel Case for Sony PRS 700 PRS 505 Ships Free from Amazon!

BookArmor BookCover Edition Travel Case for Sony PRS 700 PRS 505 Ships Free from Amazon!Literally, it has a very offensive odor from the materials of which it is made.

Unfortunately, while allowing it to "air" I missed the deadline to return it.

Maybe the manufacturer will take it back.

I have been using the leather cover for my Sony Touch edition for several months, but wanted a more durable cover with zipper to keep dust and sand out of it. After research online I chose the BookArmor cover for the device. I have my Touch still in the leather cover and inserted inside the BookArmor cover (Note: Unsure if it's possible to use without the leather cover, since the retaining straps on the BookArmor appear made to hold the leather cover itself and not necessarily the device). I have noticed no significant complaints, though there are 3 items to be aware of.

1: The rigidness appears to be from a toughened plastic shell that protects the device inside. While it appears like it will protect it much better then the leather cover, I wouldn't advise sitting anything heavier then a few pounds on top.

2: Once closed and zipped, it is a tight fit for the device. I have not noticed any problems with this, and feel very comfortable with it myself, but it is something to be aware of. I'm unsure how much pressure it actually places on the Touch, but it appears to place at least some on it.

3: With the leather cover still on the Touch it's a tight fit to zip up the BookArmor cover. Not extremely difficult by any means, but at the same time it does take a second or two to insure it's fully zipped.

All in all I'm very pleased with the device.

I just purchased the BookArmor for my Sony Reader. Since I love my reader, I want to do everything I can to protect it. When I saw the BookArmor Travel Case, it was love at first site. It was very neat and professional looking. The design is very practicle. They left no stones unturned with this design. Whoever thought of this was genius. I love it!!!

The BookArmor squeezed so tightly on my Sony PRS-500 that when I would open the softcover on my reader I would hear the sound of the softcover prying away from the buttons & would have imprints of all the buttons from the PRS-500 left in the softcover. If you were to remove the book reader from the softcover just put it in the BookArmor you might be OK since the would be more room between the BookArmor & reader (I never tried doing this since I wanted to continue to use my softcover & the BookArmor claimed it was able to accommodate the softcover). I didn't put the front & back flaps of the softcover under the plastic strips in the BookArmor because I wanted to be able to remove the entire Sony PRS-500 & its cover easily (I usually read lying down in bed & the extra weight of the BookArmor would be unpleasant to try doing this with the reader still in the BookArmor). I don't see that putting the Sony PRS-500 softcover under the plastic strips in the BoookArmor would have made much difference

The BookArmor is study & would probably offer great protection, but what would have been the perfect case might have also turned out to be the perfect nightmare if I decided to keep using it(if it just had a couple of millimeters more room inside the case it would be the perfect case). However since it does squeeze my book reader so tight as to leave indention's in the softcover from the buttons on my Sony PRS-500 I cannot recommend the BookArmor to anyone (this cannot be good for the lifespan of the reader to have it squeezed this tightly). For a product that claimed to be compatible with the Sony PRS-500 I found it to be woefully inadequate & more likely to cause damage to the reader in the long term, or maybe even short term. I returned it for a full refund, and will not buy another one unless they redesign it with a few more millimeters of room inside the BookArmor case.

Want BookArmor (tm) BookCover Edition Travel Case for Sony PRS 700 PRS 505 Ships Free from Amazon! Discount?

As with the other reviewers, I'm thrilled with the simplicity and durability of the case. Its semi-hard shell prevents flexing and other potential stresses that could damage a reader. However, several things were frustrating. The case uses a vinyl strap about 1.5 inches wide to hold a reader in place. There is one on each flap, positioned just off center to the side. After wrestling to stretch the strap enough to insert my PRS600, I was annoyed by the reflective, shiny vinyl. The PRS600 already has some glare and contrast issues due to the touchscreen technology, so this made a minor flaw a major issue.

I remedied this by installing velcro tape (fuzzy side on the reader), so now I'm very happy. By labeling this a cover for the Sony readers, the manufacturer was misleading. It's a generic cover that could have had corner elastic holders or a clip to engage the holes in the 505/600 series where the spine of a book would be. The case is a little oversized for the 600, so I positioned the reader off center, leaving some space on the right side as a grip. The entire package has a nice feel and I'm better able to angle the reader to minimize glare.

The carrying strap feels flimsy and I'm reluctant to actually hold it. They should have used the extra 25 cents in materials and labor to place a strap on the cover to attach a reading light clip. Again, velcro tape to the rescue.

In short, this is a great case after you modify it a little. 5 stars after tweaking. However, only three out of the box.

As with most, I had issues with the drivers for this cable. I tinkered with so many settings, downloaded so many different drivers, and tried so many different things, I'm honestly not even sure what combination resulted in a functional cable. All in all, it took me close to two hours to make the cable functional, but once it was, it does its job perfectly. Programming through CHIRP is smooth and painless at that point.

If you're not willing to tinker with settings, drivers, etc. I would advise against this cable. I'm no expert, but it did take me well over an hour to get things running. I didn't mind so much, especially for the price, but it's something to be aware of.

I received the cable quickly. The cable works and I have had no problems using it. However, the software does not work. I have Windows 7. The softare appears with a file extension of (.rar). I have never seen any executable software that uses a (.rar) extension. NOT for Windows anyway. I am still trying to find a working software online. CHIRP works. But I would like to install the Baofeng software to program things that CHIRP does not.

Overall, I am happy with the cable but not with the softare included. You better buy just a cable... then locate teh software online.

HP 110 Handheld Classic iPAQ - FA980AA#ABA

HP 110 Handheld Classic iPAQ - FA980AA#ABAMuch faster than my iPAQ 1945 and about 50% better battery life. I can work 15 hours straight (excluding WiFi use) and still have about 35-40% battery reserve left. The program buttons don't turn the unit on any more, you have to push the "on" button first. WiFi reception is excellent.

I recently got a Samsung Smartphone which can access the Internet and receive Email. I was ready to get one for my wife when she said she didn't need to be on the Internet when out. I still wanted to update her PDA so the HP iPAQ 110 fit the bill. It's Windows Mobile 6 Classic which means it's the same Windows Mobile 6 as on the Smart Phones but the Classic means it's not part of a phone. It's a great product at a good price.

I have had my ipaq classic 110 for a little over a year now and I use mine for work. I work in the public and medical industry and utilize programs related to medical. It is amazingly easy to purchase and download programs. The only complaint I have is that if you let the battery run down you lose all your information and have to reload from scratch. However, what I really like is that I can load to programs onto a memory card and use them from that. If the battery runs down, they are still there. I haven't figured out how to get the blue tooth to work with my computer or cellular phone, or the wifi, for windows updates or internet. The speed is very good and the battery life is good too. One charge will last me 3-5 days depending on usage.

That I bought a 2nd iPAQ at a time when everybody is buying tablets shows how much I love this marvelous invention. The reasons are easily understood: smarts, size and overall convenience. You can do wordprocessing and spreadsheets and surf the net at hot spots or at home if you have a wireless router. It comes with an expansion slot for standard SD cards. Text input is done with a stylus; once you get used to it you'll be hooked and writing all sorts of memos and notes and love letters to the universe if that's your thing. Now for the bad news: HP has discontinued this line of products and finding one is very difficult. Too bad because here's a product that thinking people everywhere will appreciate.

Item was delivered within promised time. Fits perfectly to my phone and protects it, specially the screen against breakage during rough handling outdoors (no protection against rain). But once you have the phone in your hand, you may miss the impact absorbing silicone border protection (e.g. Otterbox), suitable for normal use. A self adhesive screen protector is also recommendable.
