  • Power - Output (Watts) 5w, 1w
  • Speaker Mic No
  • Waterproof Rating Submersible
  • Weather Alert Yes

This is an excellent radio, great reception and distance coverage. Battery life is excellent as well, you won't go wrong with this radio. This particular product did not come with the AA battery case, but they can be purchased in several places.

This radio is by far the best radio in it's class for the money. I have purchased 6 over the past year and will continue to use them on my various vessels.

Features that are key:

Squelch can be set in the keypad, which avoids having a knob that you can accidentally knock down with your hip (and thus not hear radio calls).

Strong this is not a flimsy wimpy $50 handheld. The antenna is flexible and won't break if you hook it on to something. The case is strong, and it will easily resist being dropped. Obviously you can't throw it against the wall, but of you drop one of those $50 Midland jobs, chances are it's garbage.

All the other normal features are there, but you can't get a better radio on the whole for the money than this one.

I recently purchased this radio and have not tried all the features yet but my initial impression is that it seems to be a very good radio for what it is designed for. The feel is very solid. The interface is pretty intuitive. The reception and sound quality are very good. Battery life seems to be as advertised. I have not gotten it wet yet so can't speak to the waterproof characteristics.

We bought this radio as a back up on our offshore fishing trips. It performs great and has great clarity and range. There are many features on this little handheld. The peace-of-mind of having a submersible radio is also very nice.

Good price, good value, great quality. Clear sound, good reception, and has been sturdy. Can plug into a car outlet or with a wall charger.

REALOOK Sprint HTC Evo Shift 4G Screen Protector, Crystal Clear 2-PK

REALOOK Sprint HTC Evo Shift 4G Screen Protector, Crystal Clear 2-PKTHe protector itself is amazingly clear when applied.

The only problem I had was that the #1 tab was not on the sticky side as is the case with most protectors of this style.

In short this tricked me into applying the protector upside down (Yes it still stuck to my screen somehow) and in the end I wasted the first protector.

For me that means I will need to buy another pair as I had two phones to apply it to :(

Learn from my mistakes and use tab #2 first and then apply it to the phone.

These are the best fitting and clearest SPs Ive ever used. They last forever and dont effect touch input. Thank you Reallook.

From Tech. spec:

Superior Scratch Protection

Bubble Free Easy Installation

I bought it based on the tech spec. however upon seeing and feeling the screen protector, it is just a piece of thin and simple plastic. I tested scratching it gently with my nail and it left a long scratch unlike the BodyGuardz on my Palm Pre which I scratched hard with a coin and still look good. Another issue, it's impossible to squeeze out the bubbles and no instruction on how to do it. I'd tried using a soft piece of cloth, a soft plastic, and even a credit card but can't seem to get rid of the bubbles.

I decided to abandon the effort and took it off the phone. I guess I should return it to Amazon, but I've wasted one already.

Wireless Portable Finger Handheld Laptop USB Mouse Mice Trackball Mouse with Laser Pointer for Wind

Wireless Portable Finger Handheld Laptop USB Mouse Mice Trackball Mouse with Laser Pointer for Windows XP / Vista / 7 and Mac OSI have Essential Tremor, so regular mice are a problem. I've used a large track ball for years but it's too big to carry with my laptop, plus the connecting cord is a problem. This unit works great out of box; the laser is good for presentations. The unit gives much more flexability than a regular mouse or track ball since I can rest my hand comfortably while using it.

I've had it for a couple of weeks & love it. Hope it lasts.

For phone calls or listening to music it has no problems but when I try to listen to FM radio it doesn't work very well. For the radio I hear a lot of static unless I put my fingers around the plug that goes into the phone. I was able to fix the problem with the radio reception by wrapping some aluminum foil around the plug so it seems that by itself this headset doesn't serve as a good antenna but it works well as one after my modification. I like that the headphone part of the headset which is attached to the microphone module by a 1/8" stereo connector can be removed and replaced by a different one or used by itself with a different audio device.

Update 5/30/2012: After carrying this in my jacket pocket I noticed that one of the earbuds had come apart although I don't think I subjected it to any abuse. I superglued it back together and expect it to be just as good as before.

I finally found an earbud that works with the Pantech Laser ! The other great thing is it is a 2 part set. I converts the Pantech Laser mini USB male cord to a 3.5 mm female jack. Then the ear bud as the top is a "normal" 3.5mm ear bud with a standard 3.5 plug that plugs into the adapter. The only drawback is the cord on the ear bud at the top is to short. I wanted to use it as a stand alone device to listen to music on an airplane by plugging into the airlines 2.5 plug, It works.....but the cord is too short to strectch from the arm rest to your ear ! Does anyone know how to get MORE VOLUME out of the Pantech Laser.? The speaker phone is great, but the volume thru the headphone jack is VERY low. Not the fault of this ear bud. That problem is due to the phone itself.

JAVOedge Charcoal Book Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook Tablet (Dusk)

JAVOedge Charcoal Book Case for Barnes & Noble Nook Color/Nook TabletThe product is great and I truly do love it but I used the pen holder for two days and it completely ripped out. :( So upsetting!!!

I have had this cover about a month and it is a good cover. It is lightweight holds the nook color firmly, I don't feel that the nook would slip out at all. The magnet that hold the cover shut is a nice plus. The color is nice and the quality isn't bad. I don't think that it would take any abuse, but I could be wrong. Most of the ports are accessible minus the sd slot. Compared to my girlfriend's Barnes & Noble Dessin Cover in Pink, the Javoedge has about half the weight. If I was a betting man, I would say the Barnes & Noble case would hold up a lot better. I do like the cover and do not regret my purchase as I can flip the cover back and use it as an easel (horizontally) or hold it in one hand which is nice. Given its price and its weight, it is a great alternative to the bulky Barnes & Noble cases. I think something like the otterbox or trident cases will be my next purchase.

Dell Inspiron Mini IM10-USE020AM 10.1-Inch Netbook Carrying Case (Deluxe Bag - Black)

Dell Inspiron Mini IM10-USE020AM 10.1-Inch Netbook Carrying CaseThis case is a great find. High quality materials and construction. Very sturdy. My Dell Mini 10 with extended battery pack fits into the padded pocket easily and is secured by an elastic band with velcro. The main compartment also has full width zippered and mesh pockets opposite the netbook. Charger adapter can be placed inside. A magazine will also fit inside. The double handle with velcro closure is very comfortable to carry.

On the outside front of the case, there is the zip down pocket (2 zippers). Inside, there is a full width mesh pocket on one side and two smaller pockets on the other side. The smaller pockets can hold TV antenna or mouse, the mesh pocket could hold charger adapter, but it might bulge out a bit on the outside. Outside on the front pocket is another zip pocket which can hold paperwork, etc.

On the outside back of the case is a zippered pocket; the detachable shoulder strap can fit in there when not being used. There is also a strap to slip around handle of rolling luggage, but is a bit too snug to easily go around mine.

The one thing that I would have liked, would have been a lighter color lining to make it easier to see what's inside. But all in all, I'm enjoying this purchase.

Rugged Equipment QuadLock Belt Loop - Black

Rugged Equipment QuadLock Belt Loop - BlackIt's strong and well made but the way it attaches to the pouch is a fail! It snaps on to a round stud on the back of the pouch. There's 4 notches at 90 degrees apart on the stud to lock it in position. On the belt loop clip there's a small nib that's suppose to lock in the notch but it's too small. You just rub against something and the pouch spins. Sometimes when I come home, I find my pouch is upside down! Good thing the magnet on flap is strong or would have lost my phone. Tried to cut the notch deeper on the stud and bend the clip out on the belt loop but it's still the same, so the problem is the nib on the clip. Had the same problem with the clip that came with the pouch too!

The clip needs to be lowered on the belt loop so the metal tab doesn't poke you in the side when bending to the side you are wearing it on, but other than that it is a really good clip.

Buy Rugged Equipment QuadLock Belt Loop - Black Now

This will work with any belt up to 2 1/4 inches wide. Well constructed like all Rugged equipment. Will not chew up your belt like the spring clip that comes with the phone case. Fits any Rugged phone case that uses the stud mount (and that's all of them, as far as I know.)

rooCASE Ultra Slim (Black) Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Acer Iconia Tab A500 A501 10.1-I

rooCASE Ultra Slim Leather Case Cover Cover with Stand for Acer Iconia Tab A500 A501 10.1-Inch Android Tablet Wi-FiI just recieved this case and I must say I am very pleased. All the ports are easily accessible except the microSD cover, and both the front and rear camera are perfectly centered in their respective cutouts. It is very thin, and adds almost no bulk to the tablet, which is good as it was already on the thick side by itself, but it not so thin that you feel the quality of materials has been compromised. The cover is stiff with a hinge for the integrated stand feature. There is no mechanism to lock the cover down, but that is a sacrifice I was willing to make for the thinness of the case. The stand feature works fairly well, it requires a little adjustment each time to make it steady in the more vertical alignment, but once you get it in the right spot, it stays put with only a little give when touching it. The more horizontal alignment is perfect for typing on a desk with the onscreen keyboard. The inside material is soft, very similar to the cleaning cloth which comes with the tablet. The tablet is held in by a small flap of material which folds under and velcros to the inside back of the case. It holds well, but does leave a noticeable bulge where the hook and loop pieces of velcro are stacked on the back side of the case. It is the only issue I have found with the case, but I can't figure another way to retain the tablet safely while maintaining the overall thinness of the case. When closed it is approximately the same thickness as my padded leather folio, and look and feel of the leather is excellent, very high end. If thin is what you want, I don't think you will be disappointed.

The case fits well. The only reason I gave 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because of the velcro enclosure that holds the tablet in the case. The velcro actually adds to the width of the tablet more than the case does. The case does cover the corners of the tablet, which was a must, and all ports and buttons are easily accessible. The case is not extremely durable, but it is however, a "ultra slim leather case". If you want additional protection, I would suggest getting something else. If you want minimal protection, slim design, and good look, this will do the job. I am curious how long it will hold up though.

This is my third case for my tablet since I got it. The first was a generic tablet slipcase. It worked but I hated taking it and out. My second was also a rooCASE, the bigger portfolio. It is a fantastic case but it became a bit cumbersome size wise for me. I had trouble getting it in and out of my purse. They did not have this ultra slim (or I somehow missed it) when I purchased the other. The one is actually slim enough that I can even slip it into the larger portfolio when I want more of the executive look.

This is a excellent case for the Acer A500 tablet. It fits perfect and has a nice feel to it. It is thick enough to give great protection to the tablet and the feature where you can stand the tablet up at any angel works great. There is one drawback but does not effect how I use my tablet. It does cover up the microphone. The microphone is almost impossible to find and it is not shown in the documentation that comes from Acer. It is located in the middle of the tablet just above the screen. You have to look extremely close to see it. The case does cover this up and therefore muffles the input to a point where it is noticeable. Since I don't use the microphone, it's a don't care for me. If you had the right tool you could easily punch a whole in the case and that problem would be solved.

As described still in good condition for my Acer Iconia A500, since 11/2011. Can turn it into a stand to watch movies. Has a nice flap to close. Only possible negative, you need to take the device out of the case and clean it for a thorough cleaning (You can clean as is on the case, but just for thorough, as it is hard to clean corners).

LG Holster

LG HolsterThis is a great holster that I have used for a long time. The only weakness is in the tab that releases the phone from the holster. It tends to break after using it for awhile. I had the replace two (before I lost my phone and holster). The solution is to simply leave the phone in the holster at all times except when replacing the battery, and use the phone by taking the phone and holster off the belt as a unit.

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830T-6870 13.3-Inch Aluminum Laptop (Cobalt Blue)

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830T-6870 13.3-Inch Aluminum LaptopI own a 2008 non unibody 15" Macbook Pro and I wanted a second laptop for Windows support. This laptop fits my needs.

First of all, I'll list some of the things I didn't like about the laptop -

The screen lid is heavy, so if you tried to lift/open the screen with just one hand the whole laptop lifts up. Thus, to turn on the laptop or wake up from sleep, I have to use two hands.

Lame branding. On the lid, there's the acer logo in the middle which is great, but on the top right there's some logo for SignalUp (acer technology branding) that could have been omitted. It's not a sticker you can remove. Also the speakers have the words Dolby Theater and Professionally Tuned. Good to know a professional tuned the speakers, but it distracts from the overall aesthetics of the laptop.

Not a backlit keyboard. Not a deal breaker but nice to have, considering it's just a $20 add-on on Dell laptops.

Glossy screen. Not a big fan, and the viewing angles aren't as a good as a current Macbook Pro.

Bloatware, yeah it's there and it's annoying. Took a while to uninstall.

No light to indicate camera is on. It's trivial, but how would I know someone isn't secretly taping me?

Positives +

+ The trackpad on Macs are superior but I was surprised to find the trackpad on this Acer to work pretty well. Two finger scroll is mainly what I love and used to. It also supports Chrome two finger scroll horizontally to go back/forward. The downside is that trackpad area is fairly tiny and at times I would accidentally make a pinching gesture and it would increase/decrease the font on the website I'm on.

+ USB 3.0 and HDMI input. Currently, no Apple laptop supports USB 3.0 and to get HDMI out you have to buy and carry around a dongle.

+ Looks fairly good, seems solidly built 4lbs, not too thick blue color, not black or the same old aluminum color.

+ Screen is generally good, producing vivid colors despite the glossiness. As long as you view it at the right angle, the screen looks sharp.

+ Battery life...very good. I played 2 720p MKV movies at full brightness and it lasted nearly 4 and a half hours. So I can see it going 8 hours for light web/document editing use. Battery is built-in, so it's not easily swappable.

Lastly, price...fantastic price for a second generation i5 processor, 4GB RAM and 500gb hard drive. I don't play any PC games so I can't comment on it's graphics power. I use Picassa to edit photos and it's pretty snappy with other apps opened (Chrome, Outlook 2010, Visual Studio). I also do not need an optical drive.

So to sum it up the laptop looks good (not a thick heavy ugly piece of plastic), good performance and good price (half the price of a 13" macbook pro). I do love OS X Lion but I feel Windows 7 has bridged the gap. There are +/to the various operating systems, but for the most part it comes down to preferences and software that you need to get a job done. In this case, I need Outlook 2010 (Outlook 2011 for Mac is still not up to par, and Visual Studio for coding). Highly recommended!

Brilliant buy for my needs. Long battery life in Windows, sometimes saying 10hrs left when was typing in lyx. Slick design, fingers find keys easily for typing.

Dual-Booted: Installed Kubuntu 11.10 and runs flawlessly (just need small edit to get screen brightness adjustable and power managment improved-search in ubuntu 11.10 forums) but with about 90% of the battery life it gets in windows (Win7 power management little better) but still getting >7hrs battery life depending on usage.

Running python image analysis scripts as quick, if not quicker that on my Core 2 Quad on my desktop.

Screen looks great and the 1366x768 (I think) is brilliant as still can show a lot on the screen if using for coding and image displays.

The sound is good and makes watching series etc. great, especially helps having the 16:9 aspect ratio on the screen for most movies. Means picture not actually smaller than a 15inch screen.

Had this for 2 months now and no complaints.

Buy Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830T-6870 13.3-Inch Aluminum Laptop (Cobalt Blue) Now

This is my 2nd Acer laptop purchase in a few months from the TimelineX Series. This thing is light, powerful, and the battery lasts 6-10 hours depending on use. Just a note: doesn't have a CD drive. This is fine because I don't need it and it makes it lighter. When compared to a similar Macbook pro (exact same specs and $500+ more), this thing is awesome. Other than the pre-installed bloatware (took about 2 hours to remove), I have no complaints.

Did a lot of research and found this to be the best combination of price, performance, reliability and size for our high schooler.

Pros:

more than adequate speed for non-gaming use, no visible lag on anything

nice trackpad, good sensitivity not quite MacBook Pro level, but best I've seen on a PC

price is great, esp. given how comparable it is to a MacBook.

sturdy build, the aluminum body feels like it'll withstand a decent amount of real-world abuse toting back and forth to class

8-hr battery life means it'll last a full schoolday without needing to plug in

USB 3 and HDMI interfaces mean it'll still be relevant 5 years from now

not overloaded with bloatware (unlike I'd read in some other reviews) 20 mins and you're free of any junk you don't want

Cons:

fan could be quieter (not bad, but not silent)

at 4.0 pounds it's light but not super-light, esp. considering there's no DVD drive (bought a $35 external DVD drive for the rare occasions that's needed)

glossy screen sigh, wish the industry would go back to matte finishes

no backlit keyboard seems only Dells (mediocre reliability record) and Macs (too expensive) get it

Overall, we're super-happy with it so far! Highly recommended.

------

Update: 2 weeks later:

I've had more time to work with it, and am still super-happy. In particular I set up an external USB DVD drive (Amazon's Buffalo DVSM-PC58U2VB, just $35 or something) and plugged the laptop's HDMI into our 50" plasma TV to see how it'd work totally perfect, super-smooth video (my previous laptops had problems there), sound coming through the HDMI just like it's supposed to, and even impressive DVD player software bundled in from Acer (clear.fi? or something).

Far as I can tell the only serious competition for this would be the Toshiba Portege R830, which is lighter by a significant .9 pounds (3.2 vs 4.1) AND includes a DVD drive, but is $150 more and doesn't have USB 3.0. I'm sticking with the Acer.

Want Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830T-6870 13.3-Inch Aluminum Laptop (Cobalt Blue) Discount?

Intro

I prefer around a 13-14" laptop, I find that a netbook is too small for my big hands, but I find that a 15-17" laptop isn't as portable for what I want. You can find the standard 15.6" laptops for dirt cheap, but the 13-14" laptop range is harder to find a reasonably priced computer. When I found this computer, I realized I'd found something special. It had all the specs I wanted, a sleek chassis, slender design, a great processor, a great battery life, good memory and hdd size and at a decent price.

Overall Performance

This computer has an Intel Core i5 processor which is a quad-core processor which is sufficient for everything from everyday tasks to even some computer gaming. I'm not sure this is the machine you want for gaming on the go without the optical drive unless you're into that video game streaming service, which much lower grade laptops can handle just as well. Overall, the laptop is snappy and performs everything quickly and easily.

Display/Graphics:

The 13.3 display is quite beautiful. It's big enough to use yet small enough to remain portable. The colors and bright and crisp and the resolution is good even for movies. I'm not going to say that it is HD but that's not important to me anyhow. The screen is sturdily attached to the chassis of the computer via a cylinder like design. I believe that the graphics card has dedicated memory for which is a rarity in laptops.

Sound/Speakers:

The sound on this computer blows me away. It is amazing. Most laptop speakers are known for sucking even on Macbooks. But the speakers on this laptop are superb and there is rarely a reason you need external speakers. The sound is crisp and clear and it's just amazing how good the speakers are on this laptop.

Features & Accessories:

The keyboard is good, the keys are spaced more than your standard PC laptop though they take a little getting used to depending on what style of a laptop/keyboard you're switching from. The mouse-pad is ok, but a little smaller than I would like, though the pinch and double finger swipes are nice features but again take getting used to. Connection-wise, you've got 3 USB ports 1 of which is a USB 3.0 which is a nice feature. There's an HDMI port, VGA, mic, headphones and a card reader. It should be noted that like Netbooks most 13.3" laptops don't feature a DVD/CD drive and neither does this one. However, this shouldn't be a problem as you can pick up an external DVD drive relatively cheap online these days for those times you need a DVD/CD and a thumb stick, flash card or an external hard drive won't do.

Battery:

The battery life is outstanding for this little computer and provides anywhere from 6-8 hours depending on your usage. Which is great for a nice portable laptop. The plug also has a quick release feature so that if you trip on the cord the plug will disconnect from your laptop easily without causing damage to either the cord or the laptop. Also, the computer runs amazingly cool. It doesn't feel hot or even really warm to the touch even after hours of use and you can feel cool air blowing out the side which is quite nice.

Conclusion:

Everything in this laptop looks nice and is well designed. Simplicity, portability, great sound and sleekness of design are this products key features. If this sounds like the kind of laptop that will suit your needs I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.
