Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam for HD Video Streaming, Calling, Recording - Black (960-000854)

Of course, if you have any of those devices, you already have a webcam, so why would you need a new one? You wouldn't at least not a standard webcam designed to mount on top of the computer and record your face. But what if you wanted to switch between your face and your profile or between your face and the baby's crib, as you were Skyping with grandma? This makes it easy to switch live between the built-in webcam and another view, anywhere that's in range of the same access point you are using. It would be ideal if, for example, you were streaming an interview live, where you could put one person in charge of switching the viewpoint in front of the laptop, and another interviewee seated comfortably nearby with this recording their responses.
What got me most excited, though, was the potential to use it for stop motion. I use a stop motion program (iStopMotion) that allows me to preview shots and control a webcam from my computer. With this I can set up the camera wherever I like, untethered to my computer, and then record things one shot at a time. I actually went looking around for something like this that would work on my Mac a couple years ago and couldn't find anything like it out there. The images look great, and the process works great. The camera can either mount directly, via a magnetized swivel ball on the bottom, to the top of its carrying case, or, for even greater flexibility you can remove the lid of the case and mount that to a tripod (or gorillapod) via a standard 1/4" mounting screw. I wish, though, they'd also included a screw mount on the bottom of the camera, because that would allow for even greater flexibility -say if you wanted to mount this to a gorillapod mount and mount that to a lamp on the top of the ceiling.
I have noticed, further, that for this to work you do have to have a strong WiFi signal nearby. This doesn't seem to pick up signal as well as some other WiFi devices I've used. In certain spots of my house, and even in my office, I get a message from the Broadcaster app that the video bandwidth is insufficient and I can see heavy pixelation in the images. This is true even where I know that the bandwidth is capable of streaming HD movies from Amazon or Netflix, so I can only assume it's due to the device's own WiFi transmitter/receiver. That's the biggest weakness of the device as far as I'm concerned, and the reason why I don't give it the highest rating.
Overall, though, this is a fantastic new kind of webcam, that's well designed, and works well for video calling and for other creative uses ... if you have a strong nearby signal. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Pros:
* The case it comes in is great; very nice looking, compact, durable, and the lid doubles as a mini-tripod stand (great feature)
* Easy set up with iPods and computer (uses a quick and painless method of QR code syncing)
* Device itself is small, clean looking, simple to use, has flash, and works like it's supposed to
* Livestream works wonderfully with no problems
* For the most part, works as advertised
Cons:
* Is not Windows compatible (does not work at all with Windows)
* Does not function over Bluetooth
* Does not work (or at least I couldn't get it to work) over a public wifi (university's wifi) signal
* My iPhone 5 takes higher quality video than the camera itself
* When you have it connected to your iPhone/iPod the iPhone/iPod must remain turned on (as in, the iPod cannot go into sleep mode, meaning you cannot let the screen go dim) otherwise it cuts the signal to the camera instantly, and stops the recording Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program What this camera does not do is function as a security or nanny cam. It is a surprising omission in what otherwise is a very impressive wireless video camera for OSX and iOS devices. It turns off after a while.
Setup is simple. An O.R. code is generated on your setup device, in my case, a MacBook Pro. Once a connection is made to a WiFi network, you simply hold the camera about six inches from the screen and within ten seconds or so, the camera is fully operational.
The hollow base serves as a storage compartment for the device which has a builtin rechargeable battery as well as an external power connection. The base also serves as a multidirectional video mount, eliminating the need for tripods, etc.
I have accessed the stream on my MacBook Pro, my iPhone 5, and my new iPad. It also broadcasts to UStream so you can share with your friends and neighbors. A Facebook or YouTube link is provided, and uploading to those services from Apple devices is easy. iMovie is supported as well for those fans of this quirky Apple app.
Logitech positions this as a multi-angle camera to supplement the builtin in cameras on Apple devices. It promotes dual camera shots on Skype calls (and presumably on FaceTime) but unless you are a Spielberg wannabe or an aspiring adult movie star it does not seem worth the trouble.
As to the 720p resolution, it is adequate. Logitech does offer a 1080p webcam but without the wireless capacity. The wireless functionality is the key here and accompanied by a person hotspot (and a great data plan) you can practice being Steven Spielberg anywhere. We bought this camera hoping to have found the fountain of youth, but even though video quality is great and the concept is great too, even on direct power, it resets itself after 30 minutes. For streaming this is a serious problem because when Wirecast looses the signal has to be restarted to get it back and half way through a concert or church service, that is not possible.
Logitech should develop a 920 with the possibility of using Canon EF lenses. That would be a dream come true for webcasters and a huge step for human kind.I wasted a lot of time trying to get this to work. I called the manufacture and after we spent a lot of time on the phone, it was recommended that I send it back. I paid to send it back which was no big deal BUT because there was a cut off date for returns I only got partial payment back. If I did something and broke it then I could see only getting $178 back BUT I paid $199 plus tax. I should gotten back the $199. Will not do business anymore with this type of nonsense. I got a faulty product.

I usually charge the phone with it on so that I can receive calls at night too. When it's done charging, it stops, but then within a couple of seconds to about a minute, it starts charging again, presumably since in that time the battery's charge has dropped below the threshold. It then stops charging after a couple of seconds when that small amount is restored. Every time the charger starts and stops, the phone emits a soft beep, which gets annoying, since in the middle of the night, I'll hear a beep every couple of minutes. I have to get up and disconnect the phone.
I think the original charger has a different chip that keeps the charger from restarting once the battery is charged while it remains connected to the phone.
With all that said, I got the charger when the cost was one penny, and you really can't ask for much at that price. Like I said, it does serve its purpose in terms of charging the battery. The charger I received doesn't even work no matter how I set the cord for it. I am very unhappy about it but it was only $3.00 I lost so it's not that big of a deal for me to go through sending it back or getting a refund. HORRIBLE.The charger arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Works perfectly and the price was only 10% of what I would have spent at a Verizon store!the wire is probably only 18". it feels like you have a leash on if you want to talk on the phone as it charges; can't get far from the wall at all. other than that it works great. The charger does not charge the battery fully, instead it will show 'Charge completed' after about 3 minutes of charging.

Hewlett Packard Jornada 690 Handheld PC

The Jornada 690 is as close to the right choice as I've been able to find for that combination of features, software, usability and portability I've been seeking. The keyboard is cramped and takes some getting used to, but with practice it's usable. The stylus, functioning as a mouse is basically intuitive, and the sketching utility is handy for my particular line of work.
The startup was flawless, and it linked up with my desktop immediately, requiring only a couple of adjustments to have them conversing comfortably. I've had no lockups nor crashes in CE or any of the apps. So far it has run reliably, and is exactly what I had hoped, a laptop I can carry around in my hand, for me the right choice. I give it 5 stars and hope H-P and MS will continue to support it.This is a cool device for people who are mostly on the move and feel that laptops are bulky. Size vise its perfect, about two credit cards lengthwise, it neatly fits into your hand. It comes equipped with the MS office suite(cut down versions ofcourse), but one thing that is not mentioned is that we can use power point in this just to view already made slides but, we can not make a slide show. It connects pretty easily to the net. I found that it works better with 56k connections than with 28k connections. I had lot of problems connecting it to a 28k connection. Also, there are not many windows ce applications freely available on the net(compared to the palm platform), which sort of limits you to the software it comes with. The touch sensitive screen is pretty neat as well. The voice recording feature is a really cool feature which lets you record wave files and send them as email as attachments later on. All in all this is a nice handheld and beats all others in the market.

I like my Jornada very much. It crashed on me once, but after I disabled the infamous "auto-power on" feature it went away. It is very convenient to be able to do almost everything you do with your desktop, while you are on the move.Read Best Reviews of Hewlett Packard Jornada 690 Handheld PC Here
I have been using the Journada 690 for about one month and am highly delighted with it. With its built in Microsoft Office programs and that familiar MS Desktop view. All this coupled with the quality one expects from HP. I also own a HP notebook. The quality and engineering is second to none.I have a 1 1/2 hour train journey each day to work and the Journada allows me to to write reports and spreadsheet. Then all I need to do is download the ifnroamtion to my desktop...voilla.
The screen is great and the keyboard is just right without it being to cramped.
This is an excellent unit if one does not need or want to carry around a heavy notebook or laptop.
In fact I have just bought a friend of mine the 690 as a present.I have had the HP Jornada 690 for several months now. I havent seen any regrets for my purchase. I bought it because I like the idea of having a keyboard and i dont like the look of the Palm Pilots. This unit is a bit heavier than its previous versions, however you get so much more for your $. Its ability to connect to the internet and SYNC with your computer are Headache free to say the least. I previously owned a Compaq handheld, I have since found it a new home. I would recomend this unit to anyone interested in purchasing a Handheld PC. It is worth every bit of the money you spend on it.

- Capacity: 750mAh
- Brand New
- Replacement Battery
BUT: It fits perfectly on my old TJ-37. And it carry 1000mA/h. So, it was better than the original battery. So far so good. Not much to say about a battery that is working. I'll submit an update after a couple months.
