Acer Iconia Tab A100-07u16u 7-Inch Tablet (16GB)

Acer Iconia Tab A100-07u16u 7-Inch TabletThis is my third Android tablet. My first was a very low budget tablet, the Archos 7 Home Tablet, the second was the Archos 70 Internet Tablet. I was looking for a tablet with more features, most importantly a rear camera and a GPS, but I didn't want to spend $600.

When I rate anything, I rate it based on what is being promised vs what has been delivered. So although I may mention cons in this review, it still scores a perfect rating because those cons are disclosed up front and I wasn't hit with any curve balls.

cons:

-No kick stand. I loved this about my first two tablets and I missed it on day 2 with this tablet.

-Short battery life. I am used to a 7 hour battery life and this tablet cuts 2 hours off of that.

-New OS version brings some apps not being ready. Not the device's fault, but it is still a bummer to see a Force Close.

pros:

-Honeycomb. My other two tablets were 1.5 and 2.2, so this is an amazing experience in comparison

-Price. This is an AMAZING deal considering it is competitively priced but has so many features that you would expect from a premium tablet

-GPS, gyrosensor, light sensor, rear camera, front camera, 1ghz dual core processor, 1 gb ram

-WiFi is super powerful in comparison to my other tablets.

-Very fast and responsive

Screen:

I wish the light sensor would kick it to full brightness more often, but I just turned the auto off and keep it at 50% brightness. The screen doesn't have the best viewing angles, but that is typical with the screen type. However, the display is super sharp and looks great!

WiFi:

When sitting at my desk, I was at maybe 5% reception for WiFi on my old tablet and I often dropped the connection depending on where it was sitting on my desk. With this tablet, I am about 50% reception and I haven't dropped yet. This WiFi is MUCH better than what I have seen before in other tablets.

Battery:

This tablet isn't for everyone because of the battery life. On travel days, it is really going to get to me. I plan on buying a battery charger to juice it up on heavy usage days, but I don't think I will hit empty that often.

Overall, if you want a 7" Android tablet that gives a great experience, this is for you. I can't stress how happy I am with my purchase and I think I will be sticking with this tablet for a while.

Edit (5/24/2012):

It's been a while since this review and there have been a lot of changes since then. Earlier this month, ICS Android 4.0 was released to the device. The system does appear to be snappier after the update, but there has not been an impact to battery life. Unlike when HC was a new OS, I have not had a single app that doesn't run correctly on ICS, so the transition was a lot smoother.

I'm very happy with this purchase. My advice is to read all the reviews, because they are very informative and may point out something that for you is a deal breaker or shows it's a must have. For me, it's the latter. I teach dance and am a musician, and I actually first looked at this product to replace a lost ipod nano (!). Compared to the ipod, this is an entirely different creature; it's obviously more like an ipad. However, one of the best things, compared to the "i" products, is that the memory is upgradeable. Another bonus: the price point is a heck of a lot lower, but this is a quality device.

If you're familiar with Android (I have an HTC Droid Incredible), it's great to have the real Android market open to you (and not some pared down version beware of imitation "Android" devices!), even though I've found a few apps that have issues (not everybody plays nicely with Honeycomb). The video quality is great, although you'll quickly learn to lock the screen so the image doesn't keep shifting from portrait to landscape if you tilt the unit slightly. The speaker quality is fine for average use. After three weeks, I'm still fighting with the keyboard more than I'd like; it's very sensitive and easy to hit carriage return without meaning to.

I have to admit, the battery life is disappointing, especially when my ipad user friends brag about their toys, but there are many things you can do to improve it:

+ set screen brightness and timeout to lower than defaults

+ I've found that having open mail accounts takes a lot of energy. I set them up, but when I turned off the sync, my battery life improved tons. I can reactivate the sync to use them, but I get mail on my phone and computer. Do I really need it on the tablet too?

+ I do use a task killer, and I set it on SAFE (as opposed to aggressive) and to kill apps automatically every half hour. Lots of apps (weather, news feeds, facebook, even clocks) check in with the web regularly.

As far as I can tell, the big cons are the battery issues. Let's face it, 4-5 hours is short. I get more use, because of a light usage pattern, but it can go down pretty rapidly as I do use it. The guy on a total rant in his review regarding the charger unit does have a point in this day and age of "folding" plugs, and charger cords doubling as USB connectors, this is not a power supply you can throw easily in a bag. It's a bummer. And it's an even bigger bummer you can't currently {ar ar ar} get a car charger. [BEWARE of USB car chargers advertised on Amazon as working for this unit; you cannot charge via USB, A100s only power up via the proprietary Acer plug. I asked at Radio Shack, it's an Acer thing...] So, it's not too much fun to have to travel with your charger. Quite a few reviewers mention the screen as a problem. While it does have some angle-related limitations, it's easy to optimize the angle and I'm using it in class, hand-held, in varied lighting conditions.

Finally, the Poetic case Poetic(TM) Slimbook Leather Case for Acer Iconia Tab A100 7-Inch Android Tablet Wi-Fi (Black) is a useful and economic accessory I highly recommend.

My husband bought an 8GB on a Black Friday special and is mostly happy with his purchase, except for battery life. He paid $199.

UPDATE: July 2012

I traded in this device. I could not get around the horrible battery life. For all the cool things it does, no battery life and such a horrible, bulky charger (and no car option) I just realized I wasn't really using the unit. I've ordered a Google Nexus 7: lower price point, updated Android, and a battery that performs a whole lot better.

I have 2 tablet PC, IBM X60Tablet and Fujitsu p1610. One is 13 inch so it's not really UMPC. Fujitsu is 9 inch, but since it's convertible (has the keyboard with monitor turning), it's thick and bulky. Also battery last only for 2 hrs on Fujitsu. I wanted a thinner smaller device that I can carry to local coffee shop and browse internet.

Acer Iconia A100 is perfect because not only it'll be easier to carry around, but has full HDMI output so that I can use it on my bigscreen TV as a media player.

Here is what I think about the tablet after 2 days of use.

Likes -

1.Portable size yet big enough screen for movie viewing

2.FAST!!!! CPU and wifi.

3.Great OS I can even print to my Epson all in one printer!!!

4.Dual camera with one 5 MG pixel

5.Familiar Google web browser that allow you to download pictures

6.Tons of free apps.

7.No problem with music and HD movie no need to convert files so far. I played all movie files on my hard drives. No more iTune, which means I can access this device and load music/movie from any computer. yeh!! Basically use it as external memory card.

8.HDMI output to TV

9.Very responsive touch

10.Built in GPS Once set destination when I have access to WIFI, off line GPS has no problem pointing direction while I'm driving. New Google map will let you download 10 mile radius of area onto cache map. I was able to use it off line for about 25 miles once I setup the route on WIFI.

11.Great as an eBook reader

12.There is a free app which let you use this tablet as a remote keyboard and mouse for my desktop or media pc. Great for controlling my media PC. Since it's wifi I can control my desktop even outside of my house. Only problem is that I cannot see the big screen tv (media pc)...

13. Use it as a note taker for my meeting no more lost note pad

14. Market place released the updated Kindle app. Works great!

15. Can be setup as a media server. I can stream media(movie, mp3, etc.,) to my PC wirelessly while my kid is playing Angrybird without any studder. pretty cool...

16. I downloaded one of the GPS program that one of the user recommended for free from Android market Awesome. better than my TxxTxx.

Wish list(not the bad list for I have not found anything bad yet).

1.gets bit warm when I'm holding-it could be heat from my hand.

2.Better battery life. It last about 5 hrs, but with all the option like GPS, Bluetooth, and CPU power, Apple iPad would have last similar 5hrs, so not so surprising.

3.Home button is kinda sensitive and sometimes it gets triggered while using the tablet

4.Video recording is not great under low light.

5.USB Host I don't think I cannot connect USB card reader to read my Compact Flash cards

6.On screen keyboard is bit smaller than iPad's when in portrait mode... But iPad is 10 inch.. so not really tablet's fault.

7. Would not play Netflix. I can access up to the screen where I can select the movie, but would not play. I think there only a few device that play Netflix, so hopefully Netflix will release new version of the app. The twick with one of the file you found on internet does not work for me...

We have Apple iPad which belongs to my wife and the kids, and I don't get to play with it hardly....: It has amazing screen, but it's 10 inch and way too big for me to carry around anyway, and NO GPS and NO Flash.

Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase and have been carrying with me pretty much anywhere I go it actually fits in my short's and dress pants pocket... but probably not my jean pocket...

To the person who only gave the A100 a 2-star I would disagree and comment as follows:

His comments:

"Inside this tablet, you'll find basically the same guts as in every other current android tablet, from 7" to 10". It's running the latest and greatest release, which makes allowances for smaller tablets, so the awkwardness of the 7" Galaxy Tab is gone. The Tegra2 processor and graphics mean it's just as fast as the big boys. Unfortunately, all this hardware and software goodness has been paired with an inexcusably bad screen. The viewing angles are incredibly limited. If you hold it in portrait mode, the angles are so bad that you can't look at the whole screen without part of it being a bit color-shifted. If you hold it in landscape, with the home button to the right, and tilt it back a few degrees, you get a perfect display, but that's literally the only position in which the screen looks nice.

I would not recommend this product to anyone, and I would not buy it again."

So the screen isn't IPS it isn't advertised as such and given that a tablet is meant for personal viewing as opposed to group viewing off angles the viewing is perfectly fine, as the critic notes above. The screen resolution at 1024x600 is excellent and colors are vivid and crisp.

Here is my review :

Great device well built, super fast, feels good in the hand and Honeycomb 3.2 is so slick compared to either Froyo or iOS makes our iPad seem so last year and much though we are devoted to our Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Wifi the Acer Iconia A100/Honeycomb is in a different stratosphere.

Kindle app now works if you download version 2 version 3.01 on Market crashes at this time but I have tested this and it works great

Download free Kindle app for Android at Freeware Lovers

It is true that battery is rather poor at around 5-6 hours but I can live with this because the A100 with Honeycomb 3.2 absolutely crushes any other 7" tab

See other reviews here

And finally let's remember the great price point $329.00 for 8GB and $349.00 for 16GB

I just bought this great little tablet and I love it. I have been using an iPad for about a year and got so fed up with no flash and the fact that you have to have iTunes on you computer. Now I can put what I want in my tablet without having to get Steve Jobs permission. The screen resolution is beautiful, the touch control is very responsive, and the processor is really fast. I gave the iPad away, gone out of here, history.

The first thing the A100 asks you to do is connect with your WiFi. Connection went perfect the first time without any trouble, unlike so many personal WiFi devices on the market. It comes in a 10" model as well but I like the 7" format better for my needs. The 10" size like the iPad was OK but each to his own.

Acer is a well known brand and I have been using Acer for some time now. I have an Acer laptop and an Acer desktop PC. I have never had any problems with either of them.

PDair Leather Case for Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro - Book Type (Black)

PDair Leather Case for Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro - Book TypeThis is a must have case for the xperia pro. Fits comfortably and gives great protection for the phone. The phone feels like a new phone. I would recommend this to a friend.

The item quality is very good as it is exactly as it appears in the images. It also comes with a plastic clip to attach it to your belt.

However I think the item is very expensive being for 33 dollars. The item is made in Hong Kong.

Bought this directly off the PDair website. Product wise it's great and is of top quality 5 stars. Taking one star off due to very very slow delivery. Ordered this at the same time I ordered my Xperia Pro, but I got a few scratches on the phone already before I got the case, so not so happy. I placed the order on the 9th of April (Monday) and then finally on the 14th got a reply saying that item was shipped. Then on the 5th May I finally got the product (items are shipped from Hong Kong). On the PDair website they say:

"Orders are usually dispatched within 1 2 working days"

"Marjor Areas: Europe,USA/Canada,United Kingdom : 7-12 Days"

but in this instance, they didn't honor either one of these statements. When the order was getting delayed, I emailed them, and they actually sent me the USPS tracking number, so customer service in that sense was responsive.

Instapark® GS-10 European to American Outlet Plug Adapter..

Instapark® GS-10 European to American Outlet Plug Adapter..this is a better quality plug than the ones that come in a multi pack. other cheaper plugs i've bought don't hold the european plugs securely so sometimes the connection will be intermittent. so i will usually have to use some tape to held them together. i haven't had the need to do that yet with this plug.

Bought this because mixer supposedly needed it, but mixer came with one. This adapter is identical to the one the mixer came with, and it is fine.

I wanted a quality cordless united and it appears I got it. It came with all the accessories including the adaptor for use in the US. I was surprised as that is not how I read the ad. So far the unit works great, seems very powerful ( handles ice cubes) , and feels like quality, all with no troublesome cord. If it lasts it will be worth the price.

These are pretty cheap. The sides stick out too far as well and need to be trimmed to fit into the recessed hole for the 220v plug. They also don't hold onto the 110v prongs very well. Did I mention they are cheap? In price and build quality. Guess you get what you pay for.

This plug is exactly as described, works great, was a great price, and was one of the only ones that would ship free to Hawaii which was definitely the big selling point for me. All these plugs are so basic there's absolutely no reason to spend money on one that's a name brand or looks fancy. It's just a plug!!

on transferring pictures to computer. Yes, it's cheap, got mine for $5 after rebate. It can capture at a rate of about 1.5 fps for up to 20+ pictures before bogging down. By comparison the San Disk Ultra II goes at 1.5 fps up to 45 pictures without slowing. The main problem is it takes a long time to transfer pictures. If you are fine with that, it's a good deal.

BoxWave Skinny Capacitive Stylus for Asus PadFone - Asus PadFone Touch Screen Stylus w/ Longer Barr

BoxWave Skinny Capacitive Stylus for Asus PadFone - Asus PadFone Touch Screen Stylus w/ Longer Barrel and Fine Tip PointFirst off, I'd trust my Centro to a pretty good fall in this leather case. It's fairly ridged when snapped closed and the leather has great shock-absorbability. The pockets inside the front are nifty if you have any small documents or full size SD memory cards in need of a home. Do not, however, plan to use it as a wallet if you're a "driver's license and credit card only" kind of guy, like me. They don't fit. The magnetic snap is well designed and will not open under most circumstances, except when you want it to. The hole for the camera/speaker/portrait mirror on back is perfect, and the extra stylus holder is a plus. Removal of the device is quick for battery removal/card changes/resets.

Now for the bad: You'll first notice that the depth of the device is nearly doubled when inside the case, so jean-pocket carry is impossible unless you like `em extra-baggy, and there is no alternative since it doesn't have a belt clip. I'm lucky enough to be able to carry it in the large breast pocket on my work shirt. The leather band that runs across the device just under the screen is a bit thick and close to the tops of the home, phone, and up buttons, making pressing them awkward. I have adapted to this by pressing a combination of leather and button to get the desired function and this seems to work well. The device slides up a bit inside the case (the same phenomenon that makes removal easy) when ANY force is applied from below, like when plugging in the power cable. You'll soon learn to secure the top of the device with a spare finger to hold it in. Finally, the flip front is awkward to hold back the first few times you talk on the phone, but I've learned to appreciate the puffy depth this give the device so it doesn't feel like I'm talking into a business card (you may feel differently about this). It's funny watching friends fumble with the case when using your phone for the first time. :)

In summary, this is a great case for someone who has a bag or purse to always store the device, someone who doesn't carry it with them everywhere, or if you have a pocket big enough. Protection and style are the primary functions of this case, not convenience. If you pocket-carry your phone, get a slimmer case. Overall build quality is a perfect 10. Ergonomics gets a 6.

I love this cover. It keeps my phone from becoming damaged. I am thrilled I purchased it.

USB HandHeld Finger Mouse with Trackball

USB HandHeld Finger Mouse with TrackballI really liked it for the few days that it worked, but it stopped working after a few days. Troubleshooting suggests that it's not compatible with usb 3.0 slots, though usb 2.0 items are supposed to be fully compatible, so who knows. I'll update this review if I find a solution, but it doesn't look good... It seems I wasted a little money and time on this product.

This mouse is great and works perfect. The only draw back is the scroll wheel can't act as a third generic button, it does not click. So to automatically open a link in another tab you have to right mouse click first and then select new tab. But other than that I love the fact that I can use my left hand to control a mouse and my hands can literally be anywhere. In my pants pocket, behind my head or just resting anywhere.

It is truly a nice gift. If the new models come with a scroll wheel that can click, I'm definitely buying 3.

Buy USB HandHeld Finger Mouse with Trackball Now

This is the replacement for the original 3D trackball handheld mouse. The ball on this unit is a little more sensitive so you don't have to put to much spin on it to use it. Built much better that its predecessor and there are no more rubber wheels inside to wear out. Recharges through USB port. The charge usually lasts for me more that a day but I usually plug it in when not using my laptop for a short period of time to keep it going, don't over charge it. You won't be disappointed with this one if you liked the original one that was connected to a USB cable. It is built well. Comes with USB cable, and accessories shown in ad by the vendor. I have been using it now for over 6 months and it is well build and reliable. Since I bought this one I have purchased more and gave them to my friends. This is great if you can't handle a surface mouse for long periods of time or don't have a hard surface to put it on. The USB dongle automatically is detected and takes about 30 seconds to install driver. Works perfect with Windows 7, 8 and XP.

Includes free shipping you have to pay for that also. This is different from the first one I ordered.

BoxWave Nokia N800 ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector (Single Pack)

BoxWave Nokia N800 ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen ProtectorPros:

Nice clear skin, reduces glare

Easy to apply with the included accesories

So far I haven't noticed any scratches

It feels nice to write on with my plastic stylus

Cons:

Pricey

The protector is a nice fit and seems to be durable but not so thick that it affects the touch sensitivity. I had a hard time putting it on initially since as soon as I pulled the backing off it attracted a piece of dog hair from god knows where. It washed off easily under water but drying the protector without getting finger prints on the backside is a nightmare. There are still a few smudges on the backside now that it's on but it's acceptable. The downsides are the costs; this is fairly expensive for a piece of plastic. Also, I wasn't too enthused about being charged $2.65 for shipping and then getting the item in the mail in a simple envelope with postage labeled at 83 cents. Anyway, it's better than no protection at all.

I had no problem applying the screen protector on my N800. You just have to careful lining up the side before you apply it permanently. I wish the screen protector was a bit larger so as to completely cover the LCD--as it is, there's about 1 mm space around all sides. It's also a bit pricey. I think you can buy a set of Nintendo DS screen protectors for the same price.

Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USB

Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USBA drive dock is a generic-looking electronic contraption that allows a bare, exposed, internal hard drive to be mounted for read/write on any computer, using any interface: USB, SATA, and FireWire 800 or 400. In my professional capacity as a computer tutor, trainer, and troubleshooter, I use UltraDock or one of its WiebeTech predecessors several times each week. My personal backups and archives also rely on WiebeTech drive docks, and on their RTX series drive bays, which MyMac reviewed previously.

WiebeTech's new UltraDock v4 has built-in connectors for 3.5 inch IDE/PATA drives, and for both 3.5 inch and laptop size 2.5 inch SATA drives. With all power, FireWire, USB, and SATA cables included, this drive dock ships fully equipped to attach an exposed external drive to a computer for testing, cloning, data transfer, or any other purpose.

MyMac has used and evaluated every drive dock from WiebeTech since the company's inception early this decade. Some of their drive docks are better than others, but the new UltraDock v4 is the best of the bunch, and well worth its $200 price tag. Intrepid techies and repair shops will bundle this dock's purchase with one or more v4 Combo Adapters. Most expensive and top value is an ultimate bundle for around $800 (see below).

WiebeTech considers its drive docks to be professional equipment, as compared to consumer quality docks from competitors such as NewerTech. I don't know if WiebeTech is the industry leader in this professional category, but they make outstanding gear that is priced fairly and is supported by rapid and reliable customer service. UltraDock v4 is all metal, and has the requisite LEDs that would make any science teacher grin from ear to ear. My personal and review units occasionally need to be repaired or replaced, as will yours. Response time and results are always satisfactory.

MyMac tested an UltraDock v4 with and without several of the newest v4 Combo Adapters, using each of the possible port connections. FireWire 800 remains our optimal favorite for use with most Macintosh computers. Two of our evaluation v4 Combo Adapters appeared to be defective. WiebeTech replaced them immediately, and made certain the newer adapters were fully functional. Product development is ongoing, meaning the company is always working on better ways to deliver efficient hardware solutions. You may find that a replacement item is slightly different than the original one, which in this case has always meant it has been improved during the interlude.

The v4 Combo Adapters I use most often in real life are for pre-SATA laptop internal IDE/PATA drives, camera storage cards, and internal iPod drives. The aforementioned adapter set includes equipment to connect speedily all the above to an UltraDock v4. The physical rig looks weird, but works like a charm.

An UltraDock with or without an adapter is not elegant, and will never win any Apple Design Awards. Technicians are comfortable using such equipment, and don't think twice about swapping internal drives and their exposed circuitry hour after hour, day after day. Techies make mistakes just like normal people do, but WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters usually won't themselves cause careless errors.

Many of you will have exposed internal computer or iPod/iPhone drives in your lives, even if you are not the slightest bit interested in mounting them on a computer using a drive dock. Don't simply smash your old faithful drive, or toss it into the dumpster, or give it a nice warm bath, or leave it sitting on a dusty shelf. Work with a technician who will erase or repartition it, and then will either use it him/herself for bench testing, or will encourage you to put it to good use for additional storage. WiebeTech can provide cover plates to protect the guts of internal drives and make them almost bulletproof-handy for a life out of the box. Take note of the many accessories offered at UltraDock's product web page.

Our MyMac rating of WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters is 4.5 out of 5. This equipment is essential for serious technical work on internal drives of every possible flavor. Using UltraDock with or without an adapter, external drives mount on a Mac quickly, without any nasty or annoying error messages most of the time. If your tech bench qualifies for a superior array of handy drive mounting hardware, the modest price of this dock and its adapters is a bargain. Strong recommendation.

" WiebeTech's Product Development and Support Manager tells MyMac: "Here's what you'd need to order to get everything, Nemo:

Caption: Photo provided by WiebeTech

I had a Wiebetech "Combodock" before this one to connect my external (IDE) hard drives. That one has died in less than two years due to some internal burn-out. Hopefully this will last longer... it also offers more connectivity options not only giving me IDE connectivity but SATA as well. SATA drives are now cheaper.

I deal with a lot of video and other digital media files through my work and need to store terabytes of data AND have them backed up. Internal hard drives still offer the most cost effective storage and quick access to these files. Problem with external drives is THEIR storage, it quickly piles up into an ugly mess in your office. Internal bare drives can be labeled, stacked and neatly stored on the shelf. Nowadays 1TB drives can be bought for around $100.

My only complaint is the cost at nearly $200. That's almost 2TB worth of drives. So if you don't need that much and swapping that many drives it almost doesn't make sense.

Note: an adapter and all cables are bundled into the product box: FW800, FW400, USB and SATA. This info was missing from the Amazon product page and I needlessly bought a SATA cable to connect to the dock. Don't need to buy anything more, one will have all connectivity to whatever drive in the box.

The setup is super easy; just put in your email address and password and that's it! It's super slim and stylish and does email in a snap. If you are not techie and want email on the go this is the gizmo for you.

Family members love using their Peek. It allows them to access emails all day and not just when they are in front of the computer. This is an excellent investment if you are not a tech person or want something simply for email.

Not sure which Peek this is but only Peek9's will work. The older Peek Classis or Peek Pronto, which I purchased, do not work. The company changed service providers and with no notice sent an e-mail to users saying the Peeks would no longer work. No offer or a refund for activation fees, what is now a useless device, etc. Just an offer for you to pay more (admittedly a pretty small amount) for a new Peek9. Basically a dishonest company with awful customer service. When I got the e-mail saying no service, I tried over a period of about two weeks to contact customer service but after being on hold for over an hour every time, I just gave up.

Very hard to open package. They use that Chinese junk plastic blister packaging.

Activated online Friday night. Waited for 20 minutes then turned on the Peek. No service (red x on antenna icon). Turned Peek off then on again. No service.

Customer service phone line was closed already. Won't open until Monday. Emailed . No response. And my subscription time that I paid for is ticking away.

I thought Peek was known for their exemplary customer service! Guess not anymore.

VuPoint PDS-ST415GN-VP Magic Wand Portable Digital Scanner - Green

VuPoint PDS-ST415GN-VP Magic Wand Portable Digital Scanner - GreenThis works great for coping documents. It works OK for coping pictures. The OCR software works great. This will convert your text document into text that you can edit. Same as you typing it in. If you just want this for pictures you should buy something else. You do have to move the wand in a straight mannor or it will be skewed. You cannot copy over a picture frame. You have to copy the picture with no distance inbetween. Hope this helps others. You press the button, take you finger off of it, move the wand, then press the button again to stop. Good design as you do not have to hold the button down to copy.

If you copy a text doc and you skew it by moving the wand in a non straigh mannor the OCR software still works great.

rooCASE Multi-Angle (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover for Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1-Inch TF101 A

rooCASE Multi-Angle Leather Folio Case Cover for Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1-Inch TF101 Android Tablet Wi-FiI just received this case in the mail today. So far it is living up to it's expectations. I will touch on some key things that people may be looking for in a case.

The overall build is quite nice. The leather seems a bit on the cheaper side, but for the price you cannot expect "premium" leather. The case rooCASE allows access to all ports, switches, and speakers with no interference. The front camera cutout is just a little off (cutout not low enough) and may interfere, but I think this will settle down once it fits in with the Transformer with use (note how the two front holes ride slightly high in the photos of the product). If you also use a transformer dock, this is a nice item to have since the Transformer slides in and out effortlessly within seconds. The inside of the case is very soft and will offer good scratch protection. The angle of the Transformer when in "stand mode" is very good and the velcro is very secure, it offers a high level of adjustments to suit your viewing angle.

The only con I find with stands and portfolios for the Transformer is having the charging port on the bottom of the Transformer. This is not a fault of the case, I just with ASUS would have included an additional charging port on the side. Also, those who use a stylus will find no accommodation for one in this case.

PROS:

Price

Availability (at the time of this review, this is one of the only options for the Transformer)

Fit and accessibility

Angle adjustments

Seems to offer a decent level of protection

CONS:

Unable to keep plugged in charging while standing up. (not a fault of the rooCASE)

Leather could be a little more "plush" for my tastes

Front two cutouts may not line up with the camera and may cause interference. I will update as the material settles in and stretches a bit.

It's much nicer than I thought.

The part that opens up like a book is magnetic, but the part that keeps it propped up at an angle is Velcro. The angle is very customizable, and seems sturdy. Since this is really the only nice case out for the transformer, get it while the price is low don't hesitate. I'd feel comfortable putting this in my school bookbag now.

Pros:

Seems very protective

Has a grip surface, so it's easy in the hands.

Looks very handsome

Cons:

Makes the tablet very thick

Smells kind of funny, but I think that will go away soon enough

If you want to use the front camera, you'll have to take it out of the case or hold it upsidedown.

==EDIT==

After having the case for a little while longer, I want to give it 6 stars :) The leather smell is pretty much gone, and after playing with the case for a little bit, I finally was able to put it on correctly so that the front camera lines up perfectly with the holes in the case. This is a very nice looking case that really makes the tablet look professional. I get complements all the time.

The case its self appears to be well made and protective. The major complaint I read about is that the camera holes aren't in the right position. A way to prevent this is to make sure that the velcro holder, holds the Transformer as tight as possible to the top of the case.

The most annoying problem that I found was the Magnetic clasps to hold the cover in place. They interfere with the function of the compass. It should have been made with velcro. If you plan to use your Transformer for the compass/navigation don't buy this case. Also the lack of access to the docking/charging port when the cover is closed.

My one star rating is not for the product, but rather for the two different items being sold under this product description.

Back in December I purchased this rooCase as pictured in the description for my ASUS TF101. I purchased a second Eee Pad so I just purchased a second case using the original link. Upon receipt I realized that they shipped a totally different case.

The first case was rooCase model number RC-TF101-MA-BK (as pictured and described). AWESOME case if I may say so myself!! However, the second case that I received last week is model number RC-TF101-DV-BK... not as nice as the first.

The first one I ordered seems to be of much higher quality, the tablet itself stays connected to the overall case, and the tablet adjustment can be at any angle you want as it uses Velcro to hold its vertical positions. It even has a little band or slot you can put your hand through to hold it more comfortably while reading. The second case feels a bit cheaper, has Velcro on the back so it can pull apart from the overall case itself and uses little indents to hold the Eee pad in three different positions... unlike the "MA" model which you set at any angle position you desire. They also did away with the band for your hand. In looking at rooCase.com, they only list the "DV" case and the "MA" case is nowhere to be found. Such a shame.

I'm concerned that the reviews that you'll read here are for the case which is pictured, I know... shocker, and not the one that they're shipping now. Amazon, or whoever, should update their product description and pictures to represent exactly what your buying.

I honestly returned the item for two reasons.

1. It was not easy to use with the docking station. You have to take the Tablet completely out of the case to dock it.

2. You cannot charged it while the case is closed. It has to be open to charge it.

The case is nice, just not functional or "on-the-go" friendly for fast paced living.

White Rubberized Snap on Protective Cover Case for HTC Thunderbolt 4G 6400 + Microfiber Pouch Bag

White Rubberized Snap on Protective Cover Case for HTC Thunderbolt 4G 6400 + Microfiber Pouch BagThis item is quality. Ordered the item, came in the mail quick. I am pleased with the build of it and it fits perfectly. All of my electronics are white, so this made my ThunderBolt fit in. Haha

Easy to put on and take off. Rubberized texture adds extra grip to phone.

Highly recommend.

This protector was the worst item I have purchased. Not only did I have to fight the cover to fit. The one time it fell on my carpeted floor it broke. Granted this was only a couple bucks but how hard is it really to make a durable case?!

I would not recommend this product to anyone. The only reason that I bought a case that was this cheap was because I was in desperate need of one and I had very little money to work with. I will definitely be ordering a quality one from Verizon when I have enough cash, but until that time, I guess I'm forced to use this piece of crap. The outside of the case isn't even white, its more like a white with specks of black. I am forced to believe that the two five star reviews for this item were on behalf of the company that sells/produces the item, thus convincing them to buy it, much as I did. I mean, one corner of the case doesn't even snap shut, it's that shoddily built. Also, the "microfiber" pouch that is advertised with the item did not come with the case. Please buy something that is high quality. You will be much happier for your purchase.

I purchased this case for my new Thunderbolt 4G and it fits perfectly. Everything on the phone is easily accessible and you simply can't beat the price. I also really like the texture of the case. The rubberized feel makes it great for holding but not too hard to get in and out of your pocket. I originally purchased the case to spend very little and have one for the rare occasion that I might use it, but I've enjoyed it ever since it arrived in the mail. I highly recommend this case.
