Standard Horizon HX280 5 - watt Submersible Handheld VHF Transceiver

Standard Horizon HX280 5 - watt Submersible Handheld VHF Transceiver
  • Power - Output (Watts) 5w, 1w
  • Speaker Mic No
  • Waterproof Rating Submersible
  • Weather Alert Yes
  • Battery Type Lithium Ion

This is an excellent radio, great reception and distance coverage. Battery life is excellent as well, you won't go wrong with this radio. This particular product did not come with the AA battery case, but they can be purchased in several places.

This radio is by far the best radio in it's class for the money. I have purchased 6 over the past year and will continue to use them on my various vessels.

Features that are key:

Squelch can be set in the keypad, which avoids having a knob that you can accidentally knock down with your hip (and thus not hear radio calls).

Strong this is not a flimsy wimpy $50 handheld. The antenna is flexible and won't break if you hook it on to something. The case is strong, and it will easily resist being dropped. Obviously you can't throw it against the wall, but of you drop one of those $50 Midland jobs, chances are it's garbage.

All the other normal features are there, but you can't get a better radio on the whole for the money than this one.

Steve

I recently purchased this radio and have not tried all the features yet but my initial impression is that it seems to be a very good radio for what it is designed for. The feel is very solid. The interface is pretty intuitive. The reception and sound quality are very good. Battery life seems to be as advertised. I have not gotten it wet yet so can't speak to the waterproof characteristics.

We bought this radio as a back up on our offshore fishing trips. It performs great and has great clarity and range. There are many features on this little handheld. The peace-of-mind of having a submersible radio is also very nice.

Good price, good value, great quality. Clear sound, good reception, and has been sturdy. Can plug into a car outlet or with a wall charger.

Unisen iPazzPort Pro Mini KP-810-10-A Wireless USB Handheld Keyboard and Multi-Touchpad w/ Laser Po

Unisen iPazzPort Pro Mini KP-810-10-A Wireless USB Handheld Keyboard and Multi-Touchpad w/ Laser PointerI needed this primarily for use with Ubuntu 10.04 controlling an htpc. I tried a very similar unit, the Favi, volume, mouse, etc didn't work with VLC player, so it went back to Amazon. It may have been a defective unit, not sure. The Anker works 100%! Trackpad is responsive. It had easy to open retail-ish packaging. The "English" on the package was entertaining to read. The important thing is the remote is working. Glad there's a laser pointer since this keeps the cat entertained while we're watching stuff on the htpc. Plays well with Linux highly recommended!

This product seems to be of a low build quality. All plastic and overall feels a little flimsy.

All buttons work correctly, but touchpad is a little tricky at times. Sometimes doesnt respond for about a quarter second. Multiple times it stopped working entirely, however that was because my fingers blocked the signal when placed in a certain position. Still trying to figure out a time when the laserpointer would come in handy. The laser pointer is fairly bright and focuses well, so its not just a light blob on your wall. Can easily see the sharp red dot from across a well lit room.

This product does what it says and works pretty well, especially for the price.

I have an old computer that I wanted to set up on my TV to use with my Netflix account. I did some searching and this product seemed like it would fit the bill. It was inexpensive and the right size. Hooking up was as simple as plugging in the USB. It works exactly as described.

Keep in mind, you probably wouldn't want to type a dissertation on this, but for small searches and clicking to run or stop stuff this is great.

Limitations the touch pad is sensative. There is probably some setting but I got used to be more careful with my taps. The key action is fine for its purpose. I also like the auto off feature. I cannot tell you how many nights I went to bed and left this on. I have had it about 2 months and haven't needed new batteries, still plenty of charge. I use it every night about an hour or 2.

I highly recommend this product for this purpose. Oh, my other complaint is that now that I can sit on my couch and type, I only wish my eyesight were better to see what I am typing!

PDair T41 Brown / Crocodile Pattern Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102

PDair T41 Brown / Crocodile Pattern Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102It's overall a nice product, sturdy enough on the outside to last any rugged treatment. However the clasp is a bit small to quickly snap into place and when open it looks really big along your face. Other than that it's useable and heck it protects the phone in falls which to me is number one if you own a touch screen!

BATTERY DID NOT WORK IN MY UNIT. DID NOT COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS. WOULD LIKE TO RETURN IT, BUT I GUESS I WAITED TOO LONG FOR RETURN POLICY.

DO NOT BUY, unless you have the microscopic precision Torx driver needed to open the Nuvi case. There is a kit from another seller that DOES INCLUDE the Torx driver that is ESSENTIAL for the job. I hope that when I find the Torx driver, the battery will work fine...othewise, it is USELESS.

REVISION on the review

I went and got the Torx driver..the battery works fine, no difference from the OEM one; expect to be frustrated if you DO NOT HAVE the driver.

The packaging is actually labeled "Nextel." The earpiece did not have Motorola's symbol on it. It's generic (unless this is a very old model and Motorola has changed their branding symbol since then). The quality is very poor. The cover housing the microphone broke off within a week. The shipping costs more than the product otherwise I would have returned it.

A co-worker recommended this listen only earpiece, which plugs into a 2 way-radio.

I find the unit very light weight, not putting hardly any pressure on my ear.

The speaker is outside the ear, not into it, which is much better for me.

The transmitted sound is very strong and easy to hear with the radio volume turned down very low.

What is missing is a clip to attach it to my collar. Otherwise, it works extremely well.

CE Compass Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAs

CE Compass Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAsIt connected to my IPhone 3gs(v4) the first time and it gives you a unique 4 digit pin on the phone's screen each time you pair so you don't have to remember the code. This keyboard is the perfect size (just longer than a dollar bill); any smaller and it would be too small and any larger it wouldn't be as portable. The keys are only slightly smaller than a regular keyboard which means you can place both hands on the keys with the j and f home keys (big hands could be a problem). It take a little practice because there is no shift key on the right side so touch typers must remember to shift with the left. Most of the special keys (;-::"?) are Fn keys not in their normal locations but all of the alpha and numeric are standard. The Keys lack the slant found on the standard keyboard which take a little getting up to speed so don't expect 80 wpm out of the box it's a learning curve. Your techo friends will be green with envy.

Sweet little device I must say. Works exactly as you expect it to, but I was baffled the first few days of getting it because of Windows 7 Professional. After the first install and driver installation, Windows kept asking for a manufacturer provided "pairing" code. This is crazy because the device does not come with a code. Turns out the Windows prompt is simply misleading, all you have to do is make up a code, say, 0000, hit enter on your computer and then type the same code and hit enter on your bluetooth keyboard. Voila!

I should also add that the bluetooth dongle that comes with this device works with other bluetooth devices as well. I have already successfully hooked my 2 Nokia phones, 5800 & N900, and a Motorola wireless STEREO headset (yes A2DP) to the dongle and they all worked like a charm. Like some other reviewers have pointed out, typing and scrolling on this thing takes some getting used to. Recommended!

EDIT JAN 21, 2013, The device is still going strong. I used it with my Android Nexus 4 device while it was hooked to my HDTV. I can't believe how long this thing has served me.

Easy to setup after 4 digit type into iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G and iPad.

Play, pause and volume keys works fine for iOS device.

Good for windows XP note PC with USB Dongle, too.

Only and the biggest problem for me is command key missing.

I can not change English and other language input without it.

If you know how to do, please help me.

Anyway, over all impression is good.

Update: 2010/9/25

I found that Fn + T & Fn + Y can be used for language switch.

Now, problem is solved. I would recommend this to all.

I bought this keyboard to use with my PS3 (slim). Typing a message using the PS3 controller is a pain. This little keyboard makes it easy. Plus it's small enough that it doesn't get in the way if you leave it on the end table when not in use.

Pairing the keyboard with the PS3 was simple. Just select the "scan for bluetooth devices" menu option and hit the recessed button on the bottom of the keyboard. Then type in the number and hit enter.

It also has an on/off switch on the bottom so the batteries won't drain when it's not in use.

PREMIUM PURPLE SOFT SILICONE SKIN GEL COVER CASE FOR AMAZON KINDLE 2 KINDLE2 6" + PREMIUM LCD SCREE

PREMIUM PURPLE SOFT SILICONE SKIN GEL COVER CASE FOR AMAZON KINDLE 2 KINDLE2 6' + PREMIUM LCD SCREEN GUARDThe skin fits nicely over a Kindle 2 and protects it well. It's translucent enough to see the keys on the sides that it covers and adds a nice, non-slippery, grippy texture to the device making it even more pleasurable to hold for long periods of time. Don't bother with the screen cover. Not that there is really anything wrong with it, but it does reduce the sharpness of the text somewhat, and after awhile, I took mine back off. Just be careful with the screen and use a slightly damp microfiber cleaning cloth to clean the screen and keep your Kindle in a zippable CaseCrown carrying case designed for Kindle and you'll enjoy reading it a lot more than looking through the screen cover.

This case is sturdy, yet CUTE! The color is as vibrant as it appears online. Also, you cannot beat the price. I am very pleased with the transaction.

Targus CHCL01 Universal Pda/stowaway Combo

Targus CHCL01 Universal Pda/stowaway ComboI got this case for my Jornada and the HP Stowaway keyboard. I was very surprised to find that the Targus HP Stowaway keyboard does not fit into the Targus Combo case. You cannot zip the case around the HP keyboard, it is slightly too big for the case to zip up. I also was not confident that the two Velcro tabs would hold my Jornada securely in place. This combo case might be fine for Palms, but it does not work with the HP keyboard and Jornada.

The way that this case holds your PDA is lousy. You have to affix two adhesive-backed velcro strips to the back of your PDA in order to be able to put your PDA in this case. I think that's pretty lame right there, but if you use a Compaq iPaq it's a terminal problem, as you can't fit an expansion sleeve on the unit once you've attached the velcro strips. Blech.

Buy Targus CHCL01 Universal Pda/stowaway Combo Now

I purchased this case looking for a compact way to carry my Targus keyboard *very cool accessory* and Visor Pro together. It works fine, and is very close fitting. My only discount on rating would be the velcro--It fits fine, but between the soft reset port located on the back, the expansion slot cover and the necessity to dock snuggly when synching, there isn't much room for the velcro pieces. My only other complaint would be the thickness of it...With those two tightly encapsulated in the case, it is quite a tower and pretty bulky. I'd say it's as close as it's going to get, however, as this case is a snug fit. For anyone who isn't really concerned with space, and not looking for a wallet, I'd go for it. I'll probably get a slim case for when I don't need my keyboard. I read a review where someone put the velcro on their hard cover--great idea, especially since you wouldn't need it for a slim case (it has holders which utilize the handspring's ports and snap in your visor). Good luck!

I have a Palm IIIxe and the keyboard didn't fit at first. But I hoped the leather would give a little stretch and with Targus lifetime guarantee that they purported, I gave it a shot and squeezed as much as I could without damaging my precious Palm foldable keyboard. Fortunately, it goes in JUST nicely, just keep your keyboard in there for the leather to mould to its shape.

However, I really HATED the segment for my Palm because of the irritating side holder bar for Palm Vx which is of no use for anyone without a Palm VX and is really a pain in the neck that nudges my Palm III to the outer edge. Plus, why would a Palm Vx owner need the velcro??

Also, the length of the case is TOO LONG for my Palm III, so I thought that was a waste of space (looks like it is to accomodate the longer HP Jornadas). This product tries to accomodate ALL types of PDAs, like Palms, pocket PCs etc but I really think they could do better by making a custom product for each range. Just doesn't make sense. I put my Palm slim leather case beside it and admired its micro dimensions, very much tempted to use the slim case plus the nylon case for my keyboard instead.....darn...

I have a Visor Deluxe/Stowaway and the keyboard fits perfectly in the case and provides a very secure way to carry the visor. I no longer take my waterbottle in the same bag I carry my netbook. But, I know the extra large bubbles on the inside of the case will keep my new netbook from getting damaged. The case is well built and the black and orange is very stylish. Goes well with my Marlin Blue Duo. Not much on storage but didn't buy this to haul a bunch of stuff, just my Duo. Komputerbay 32GB Class 10 SDHC Ultra High Speed Memory Card - Read 20MB/s Write 15MB/s with USB Rea

Komputerbay 32GB Class 10 SDHC Ultra High Speed Memory Card - Read 20MB/s Write 15MB/s with USB ReaderNever heard of komputerbay, bought this card for $80, which is way cheap compared to most other name brands many of which charge $200 or more for the same sized sdxc... been using it for a few weeks in my thrive for videos, music, files, and software stuff... no issues at all. I already have over 20gb of stuff on it and it has worked flawlessly. Great product. Great price. Glad i bought it.

FWIW the toshiba thrive is not compatible with ntfs file format, so i did have to re-format this sdxc card to fat32 in order to make it compatible with my device. Since windows xp was not developed with a card formatter for sdxc format (since sdxc cards did not exist then) i had to install a microsoft update to make my home computer capable of fortmatting the sdxc card.... this is not an issue with the card at all, but mentioning it in case you have a thrive and are buying the card for that device.

There was only one review that somebody used it in Panasonic GH2 camera, so I thought that I should add this one, just in case if the owners of this camera are searching for related reviews.

After inserting the card into the camera I had to agree with a question for reformatting the card, which is normal. It seems that Panasonic GH2 has reformatted it with exFAT because Win7 is showing that. It is also showing that the capacity is at 61.8GB, which is also normal. Actually this space is more than I expected, since after formatting you usually lose almost 10% of the space.

My Panasonic GH2 is estimating that this card would be enough to fit 6 hours and 22 minutes of HBR (24 Mbits/s) video. So far I've just taped 30 minutes and it is still working and hopefully will continue in the same manner. If there will be hiccups I'll immediately return to Amazon with an updated review and will take off some stars.

Reading from the card, while copying to the PC, averaged at 19.6 MB/s. Writing to the card (the same data) has averaged 15.7 MB/s. See pictures and captions for details. I get the same performance from my SanDisk 32GB SDHC Extreme HD Video SanDisk Extreme SD 32 GB SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDX-032G card that claims "up to 30 MB/s" transfer speeds. I don't use fancy tests. Instead, I use daily footage so it's all down to earth, without any illusions about performance.

One will have difficult time believing that an unknown company, such as KomputerBay is able to deliver memory cards on the same level as SanDisk, Transcend, or Kingston. The only couple explanations that I can find are:

a) a necessity of one of these companies to offload overproduction of a certain model

b) or some batches of the cards have not met strict quality requirements. Maybe this batch had 4 bad cards out of every 100 comparing to the expected 1 bad card for each 1,000?

The card, that I've received, did not have the country of origin on it. Since my recent SanDisk 32GB SDHC Extreme HD Video (30 MB/s claimed) card was made in China, so I thought that by purchasing KomputerBay the risks would be similar.

The Amazon listing stated "Lifetime warranty" but since the card has not arrived with any extensive packaging (except a white label, see a photo) it is not clear how the warranty can be claimed, if the card will stop working in a few months.

One more note. Both of my recent cards (SanDisk and KomputerBay) have a strange nuance. If the video files have been written by the camera, then the average reading speed is at 19.6 MB/s. But if the same files were written by the PC, the reading speed, while copying these files back to the PC, averages at 150 MB/s. It seems that there is a substantial difference between how Win7 and Panasonic GH2 write data to both cards, hence a jump in the reading speed. By the way, defragmenting data, written by the camera, does not improve the reading speed.

Hopefully other reviewers will provide more details about the cameras and devices where they use this card, so there is less anxiety. It is especially appreciated when people post reviews and updates after a few months of using memory cards. Thank you!

UPDATE from April 7th, 2012:

During last few days the cards started to act up. Five days ago, GH2 during the same video session, stated (suddenly, after four-five video clips) something about the insufficient speed of the card and stopped videotaping. I had to reinsert the card in order to continue. Then, today, while watching footage on Panasonic BD45 Blu-ray player, the playing suddenly stopped. I've been copying the files after each video session, but at the same time not moving them, in order to make sure that the entire capacity of the card is usable. Well, only half the card (38GB) is filled so far and these problems are already apparent. Also, after the problem in the player, I continued using the card in the camera, and again, after a few clips, the camera reported "insufficient speed of the card" and stopped recording the video. Re-inserting the card eventually helped.

If one compares this card with similar cards from SanDisk and Kingston, one can notice that this card is THINNER and the contacts are sitting DEEPER in the plastic. After scrutinizing the appearance of the contacts it is possible to notice that they are shiny/glossy and have less scratches on them from insertion/reinsertion than the cards from the above mentioned brands. I am not an expert, but logic tells me that such contacts will have less chance to stay tight to the contacts of the digital devices, hence more chance for a trouble.

This card got my five stars when I've purchased it and tested six weeks ago. Now I am downgrading it to one star for being UNRELIABLE and forcing consumers to spend money again for purchasing something that can hold in the field. No wonder why the price has dropped by 10% during last few weeks! With more time on the market, more consumers will discover the long-term non-lasting quality of the card and the more the company will be interested to get rid of the current stock as fast as possible.

The card has not failed completely yet and I will continue filling it (while making backup copies of the content on regular basis) with videos up to its maximum. However, if you are looking for a card for traveling, where you will not be able to copy to the computer on regular basis, consider SanDisk or something else. Yes, they are priced 150% higher than this card, but sometimes you can catch them on sale for almost the same price as this card. Just be patient.

UPDATE from April 8th, 2012:

In the middle of the video recording the camera again showed a message about insufficient speed. After reinserting the card, the GH2 could not recognize the card at all. And, of course, the return window has expired a week ago, but I was still able to get 80% refund. I love you Amazon! Will shop again, but not for this brand. I guess I'll stick with SanDisk, Kingston, and Transcend, unless they will develop as many problems as KomputerBay.

UPDATE from April 23rd, 2012:

One more thing... I've recalled that after having more than half the card filled with videos, the startup time of the camera and the recording time after stopping video recording has noticeable increased. I am not sure whether it was happening due to the quality of the card or due to the volume of the recorded data, or due to the capacity of the card... When I had to switch back to 8GB Transcend and 32GB SanDisk, it seems that the startup and and the "finish recording" lag quite noticeably shortened. However, I don't have 64GB SDXC from another brand (yet) in order to compare objectively.

THIS IS AN INFERIOR QUALITY MEMORY CARD! DO NOT TRUST IT! Others have commented about losing data, pictures, and video; I had a similar experience. While shooting 1080p video at a family Christmas function on December 23, 2011, the memory card failed. I lost approximately 12 GB of video and 20-30 pictures. The video lost was irreplaceable; not only did the memory card contain the video recorded that particular day, but it also contained my daughter's first kindergarten Thanksgiving program and Christmas program. I was crushed. I had planned on retaining the holiday video of my children on the card until I had an opportunity to edit the "footage". The memory card actually crashed while I was recording. I checked the card on three different card readers my laptop, desktop, and the camcorder and all three indicated there was no content present. There was only 10 GB of video on the card when the evening began.

To add insult to injury, Komputerbay refuses to offer a refund since the card was purchased on September 15, 2011. I guess it's just my misfortune that the card did not fail sooner. The sale date notwithstanding, in my opinion, this response is indicative of a company that will not stand behind its product. After all, why would I want an identical replacement of an already inferior memory card?

Incidentally, I purchased a SanDisk 16 GB memory card with this same shipment, and it has worked flawlessly. I guess it is true, "you get what you pay for." I just wish I had learned the lesson (1) before purchasing this Komputerbay card and (2) trusting it with priceless precious moments. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD! I don't want anyone else to suffer learning the same lesson.

I've never heard of this brand and so was leery of making this purchase.

But Amazon has never failed me and the price and specs are great. It came

before ETA. I use it for my Toshiba Thrive tablet.I have 50 movies, 10,500

songs in it. There's room for 20 more movies and twice more in songs.

There's no hesitation in the movie playback. So I'm happy.

Only thing is it takes a long time for the Thrive to register all the

contents. Could be the Thrive's shortcoming. Or the built-in music player.

I will recommend this card anytime.

Edit.......

It is now July 1st,2012. This card stopped working. My computers say it needs formatting. But it failed to format in any of the machines. I'm really unhappy now. I guess I'll look for a name brand now.

Want Komputerbay 32GB Class 10 SDHC Ultra High Speed Memory Card - Read 20MB/s Write 15MB/s with USB Rea Discount?

This card, at the time, was the best priced SD card anywhere, had never heard of Komputerbay, but it has saved me some money, I literally got it in a few days and it was securely packaged, opened it, loaded it into my Panasonic TM-900, formatted it and blam......I was filming to it in a heartbeat, I then hooked it up to my computer, it transferred like a dream, I am extremely happy with it, frankly I have bought other cards off the internet that turned out to be crap, it was really hard for me to jump in again, but the savings was the ticket....Thanks, Komputerbay, PIPFITTERMIKE636

I am adding to my review because not only is this a great card but I have purchased another one, they both work great, and now I have two cards for my Panasonic TM 900, I am thinking of getting some of there 32 gb cards for my canon sd-10. Amazon will not let me have 2 seperate reviews for the same product so I added to this one, Thanks again Komputerbay,Mike

Look Amazon wont let me review seperately any more cards... i have 4 of them now, this last one I bought is there high trasfer rate card 64gb in size but was 10 dollars more, it works perfectly and flawlessly. My camera has now 4 of these cards that are working perfectly. I did see a review here of somebody that had problems with their card... all I can do is write my experience I have had with the cards I have bought and I am happy with them, no problems to report, thank you again, Komputerbay

80MM 220 Mm/sec 42 Col Parallel & USB Internal Pwr Supply Labl WhteThis thermal printer seemed like the right fit for my point of sale register. However, after hooking everything up and finding out that it only cut the first 5 to 6 receipts; I realize that you get what you pay for. Meaning, for another $100 I could have bought the work horse of this brand. (I historically have paid more than $400 for receipt printers and should have known better.)

I have sent this machine back and I am waiting for my refund. I will, of course, buy the next model up and never by the light weight model of any brand from this point on.

rooCASE Neoprene Netbook Sleeve Case Cover for Lenovo 10.1-Inch Ideapad S10-3t 0651-85U Netbook Tab

rooCASE Neoprene Netbook Sleeve Case Cover for Lenovo 10.1-Inch Ideapad S10-3t 0651-85U Netbook TabletI had been searching for quite a while for a nice neoprene sleeve for my Acer Iconia A500 tablet. All of the iPad and Galaxy Tab cases were too small. But the next size up (often for a netbook, etc.) were way too big. This sleeve is perfect for me. The dimensions listed here are accurate. I'm using Skque Clear TPU Case For Acer Iconia Tab Skque Clear TPU Case For Acer Iconia Tab A500 also, so the dimensions of the Iconia with the TPU case are: 7.25 x 10.5 inches. This sleeve's dimensions are 11.2 x 8.9 inches. So as you can see, it doesn't fit exactly snugly. But it's perfect for me. It;s perfect for protecting the tab either sitting at home, or when I slip it into my bag and take it out. The neoprene is thicker than some other sleeves I looked at, and I feel confident that my tab will be protected while in my bag. (It's a neoprene sleeve I don't expect it to be shock proof and protect the tab from a fall, and you shouldn't expect that, either.)

The only thing I do not like about this sleeve is the little plastic pockets sewn inside. They're supposed to be for memory card storage or something like that. But I wanted to put the screen facing the pockets (for a little extra padding) and was afraid the plastic would scratch my screen. It was easily solved by snipping the stitches holding the plastic and gently removing it. It took about a minute's worth of work and little effort.

I would highly recommend this sleeve to anyone who has an Iconia A500.

My Lenovo S10-3t, fits snugly in this bag, but I have to stretch the bag to close it. Other than that, the stitching is good, and the cover provides adequate protection for my netbook. I like the outermost pocket for storing my power and data cords, and the middle pocket works perfectly to store my portable 3.5 drive. I bought this cover because I need something to protect my netbook when I take it camping, and it fits that purpose perfectly. If the bag was just slightly larger so I didn't have to stretch it over my netbook, I would have given this five stars.
