Acer Aspire V5-471P-6498 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silky Silver)
Cons: Difficult to find a fitted case for it, really slow with office products, slow in loading programs, battery life, difficult to connect to the internet
Issues: Sometimes it will start scrolling down on it's own and it won't stop until I press Ctrl Atl Del. A few times the keyboard wouldn't work and I'd have to use the touch screen, after using it for a month the H button no longer lights up.
It's a really nice laptop. I think I would like it even better had I not gotten Windows 8.The laptop has a few glitches. It might just be mine so I'm going to send it back to see if they can fix it.

Everything is great with Acer except with Wi-Fi it continues to lose contact and I have no problem with any other device I have (iPod touch roku and kindle fire) Those that complain about windows 8 I can't understand it gives a great touch experience I will call Acer about Wi-Fi and hope they can correct this then I would give another star maybe two.Went to Acer website and downloaded driver update. No problems at all and have been on Internet for hours. With that solved I can honestly say this is better than my Asus all in one with Windows 7.

Windows 8 is causing some big changes in computing, and this Acer has all the necessary requirements for keeping you informed and in touch with your associates. Compare this V5-471P-6498 to similar models from other brands and the pricing is an incredible bargain. Even more remarkable considering 14" laptops are highest in demand, often carrying a steeper price than the larger units that have a larger screen and additional components such as a separate number pad. This laptop has the latest 3G components from Intel, is the perfect size mobile and is fully equipped for all-around use by students and for keeping in contact using all the conveniences a multimedia provisioned laptop has to offer. I don't have a single complaint about mine, and am even considering purchasing a second laptop from where I purchased this one -TigerDirect. As to whether having a backlit keyboard, well that is just a myth. Always check the specs at Acer before purchase, and they listed everything I received with this laptop.

Plugable USB 2.0 Digital Microscope for Windows, Mac, Linux (2MP, 10x-50x Optical Zoom, 200x Digita
I have put together a short video to show the features and benefits of the microscope and what it is capable of doing. I found it easy to install and use and the results that you can see are amazing. Here are the main features that I really liked:
* Captures photos and video of the specimen that you are looking at.
* Features a 50X optional zoom
* Has a 200 X digital magnification
* Has an adjustable LED to light the specimen for photography.
* Includes powerful software to use the microscope to its fullest capabilities.
* Comes with a metal stand to hold the microscope.
* The microscope and LED light are powered by the USB port of your computer so it does not require additional power to operate.
This will provide you and your children with hours of interesting scientific investigation into the world of smaller objects around you. I had fun testing the product and making the video. As a young child I had a microscope and a chemistry set (yes I am a geek) and this new digital microscope is just a fantastic improvement upon that original microscope with today's technological improvements. Capturing high resolution color photos and videos is really easy and fun.
This camera is a great tool and learning opportunity. I strongly recommend this product to you as a great gift for a child or a hobbyist. The unit is priced well and is a good value. I rate it as a five star product.
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review. This little microscope works great. I used to own the entire ProScope kit which I used in honors High School Biology class. That was a great camera but when I retired a few years back I could not see having it sit around so I donated it to a school.
I have wanted another microscope over the last few years when I stumbled upon this one. I have a fair number of Plugable products in my house so when I saw they had this little scope at a very reasonable price I decided to give it a try.
Now for my little warning above. If you are a mac user the functionality that you get from the provided dvd disk is a cheap NO function app that is not worth even installing on your computer.
After looking around at Plugable's web site and various web searches I finally found the FREE software that turns this scope on FULL BLAST. You will want to go to:
VEHO
veho-world.com
download MicroCapture 1.0 for mac. I think this is a UK site.
download it and BAM you have full functions to take pictures, video, etc....
I had intended on returning it before my searching resulted in this above download.
GET this little scope....it's fun and easy to use.The family got this as a gift, but I'm eyeing it for textures in my layered photography work. Heads up: the software isn't fancy, and it's easy to take too many captures at once. Best to manipuate the capture files directly on your computer (in C:\photos). But the results are worth it!There is no optical zoom that claim is bogus. The software takes a very, very long time to detect the device.
Every other cam software I have is preferable to what came with. In fact If I press the snapshot button it opens a different software.
Two of the LED's are burnt out.
The only real advantage I see over a web cam is that it has the focus more convenient.Wanted this to see small objects and items on a PC screen and it works great. I received an email from Plugable Technologies before I received the microscope which said to download a file to make the microscope work. When the scope came, I plugged it into a USB port, downloaded the file and installed the drivers and program. There was also a CD in the box I could have used, but this was an update. Very nice to deal with a pro-active company that knew what I'd need. Installed drivers and program and restarted the computer.. Plugged the microscope in and started the program which took some time to find the microscope. Once found, the program showed what the microscope was viewing in the monitor's window. There are two magnifications, Viewed a $20 bill and it is amazing how ragged the ink lines and drops are under the magnifications. Also used this scope with prepared slides. A slide with bee mouth parts was as clear as with a student microscope and easier to use. I placed the slide on white, then yellow paper to see the parts better. Both worked well. Could clearly see hairs on the glossa at high resolution. The screen resolution was automatically set at 1024x768 (which can be changed up or down) resulting in fine detail. Also used the mouse to capture in JPG since, when I touched the button on the scope, it jiggled. Other comments on the stand are correct it doesn't seem heavy enough. The base is too light to hold the microscope above the object, so it should rest on the object. My reason for giving 5 stars is the clarity of the optics, good PC software and ease of use. It's just a very good instrument. I'm going to put some lead weights on the base, probably stick-on wheel weights, and give that a try. Probably not too many use a Google Chromebook or Chromebox, but the camera app works with this microscope; magnification and clarity same as the PC, although one can not set screen resolution or use video. The app does allow snapshots.

White Amazon Kindle Fire 360° Rotating Leather Case Cover with Swivel Stand
Otherwise, the features that I do like are how the Kindle Fire slides in. The case does do a good job rotating very easily. The holder roatates by a snap button, & works great. The case is made out of an decent material, that seems to be fairly sturdy & would withstand an accidental fall.

Nokia Leather Case
The case is stiff (as cowhide is) on the outside and has thick clear plastic on the inside that covers about half of the upper portion of the screen and half of the lower portion of the keyboard with no problem for dialing numbers or accessing the buttons on the sides. The leather cover does block the back speaker, however there seems to be only a slight distortion blockage of sound.
The one thing that does bother me is the lack of cover on the bottom of the phone where the data jack is I worry about dust getting in there thus the minus half a star.
I haven't tried out the belt clip yet, but the plastic parts look very sturdy and have a strong clip.

I bought two of these. One of them works fine and the other caused issues with my Canon 5D. I took several pictures without any problems but then it locked my camera up when I tried to review some of the shots. I am also unable to move any of the images to my IMac using a card reader. Both of the cards came in a plastic holder sealed with an adhesive backed label. This label was difficult to remove and left adhesive residue on the outside of the holder. This residue is probably not something that you want to get into a $3000 camera.
In the future I will stick with the retail packaging. I am not sure what "bulk pack" means but I now question whether the same quality standards are adhered to. Maybe these are refurbished in some way? If you do decide to save some money and buy these, test them thoroughly before using (always good advice but not always followed).
I am new to CF cards and maybe I was just unlucky, but if I were Sandisk I would be cautious about the use of my brand on items like this.

I have used CF cards for many years. I have a Canon Rebel XTI and when I tried using this card with that camera it bent a pin in my camera. I will now have to pay to have it repaired. I am sure the vendor will point fingers at amazon or sandisk and in the end the consumer will get screwed! I would suggest inserting any new cards into an inexpensive card reader before putting it into an expensive camera.THIS SUCKS!
SanDisk SDDR-91-A15 CF Type I/II Reader
USB 1.1 has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 MB/sec, but in real-life tests using my Lexar 512MB 40X compact flash card (one of the fastest currently on the market), the data transfer rate was only 0.6MB/sec. However, with the Sandisk ImageMate's USB 2.0 connection, the transfer rate for the same Lexar card was 3.2MB/sec (about 5 times faster).
This tiny (smaller than a deck of playing cards) USB 2.0 compact flash reader isn't for everyone, however. First, you must have USB 2.0 capability in your computer--something the vast majority of computers don't have. If your computer doesn't, the reader will still work, but only at the slower USB 1.1 speed. However, you can buy a USB 2.0 card to give your computer the capability (Amazon sells a very inexpensive one from Iogear, which I bought for my computer).
Second, you need a relatively fast compact flash card. Just like CD burners, compact flash cards have a maximum speed of their own (40X is approximately 6 MB/sec). If you have an old 4X or 8X compact flash card, then you probably won't see any improvement with this card reader compared to USB 1.1.This Compact Flash reader does just what it says, and it does it nicely. It is built well and is very light, and the price can't be beat. It is a USB 2.0 connection (backward compatible with USB 1.1) and I've had good experiences with the speed of data transfer.
I had an old Pocket PC for years but recently had to get rid of. However, in the Pocket PC I had a Compact Flash Card that was still in working condition and I wanted to keep it. Purchasing this product allowed me to take the old data off of it and even use it as an extra storage device (like another disk drive).
In addition, I recently bought a Canon Elph camera (which uses Compact Flash cards) and I wanted the ability to transfer data to my computer WITHOUT using my camera. This was a very important reason for my getting this item. I can now take out a Flash card and send the pictures to my computer even though my camera is low on batteries, or is not available.
It is a pretty simple item, but it does have a couple of minor features. First there are 4 rubber circular pads (about the size of dimes) on the bottom of the reader. This helps prevent it from slipping on a table. (This is important because the reader is so light that the USB cable can curl and push the item around).
Second, there is a little green light (on the top) which comes on whenever you have media inserted. This is good because you can tell if you've inserted it correctly.
I am very happy with this product.

If you have a digital camera that uses CompactFlash memory cards, this is a must-have accessory. Instead of plugging in your camera directly and draining precious battery life, simply take the CF card from the camera and put it in one of these. Use that battery life to shoot more pictures! If you're using Windows 2000 or XP (I can't comment on Mac compatibility, not having tried it myself), it will be detected and configured automatically. No need to install any special software either; just use it like any other disk. Oh, and even if your system doesn't have USB 2.0 ports--mine doesn't, unfortunately--it will still work with older USB 1.1 ports. Just be prepared to wait slightly longer for transfers.Oh, and if you take the reader and a CF card with you (it's small enough to pocket quickly), it makes for quick, easy, high-capacity portable storage.
Update: I've also had a chance to test this in Linux, and it works perfectly there. Just make sure to compile USB Mass Storage Support into your kernel or as a module.

I recently got a Nikon D70 digital SLR and was having to transfer large amounts of files to my computer. As in, 512MB to 1GB. I only shoot in RAW so they fill up. Anyway, transferring 512MB from the camera (which was USB1 speed) took quite a long time, I think it was maybe like 10 minutes or even more to do 512MB.With this Sandisk card reader, it's much faster, taking more like one minute. It looks snazzy too; more well-made than the piece of crap off-brand my friend got free with a camera that he bought (and faster). There aren't a lot of features to have on something like this but it does have a nice green light that comes on while a card is inserted.
On Windows XP, no installation of any sort was needed; I just plugged it in and instantly I had an extra removable drive visible in My Computer, which I then setup to automatically open in an explorer window whenever a CF card is inserted. Pretty easy.
For reference, I am using Sandisk Ultra II CF cards with it.I bought this reader after having some problems with other readers on my win98se op system. The install was seamless, and everything works perfectly.

CTA Digital Bluetooth Phone Handset with Leather Case for iPad
Inside of the case you will find a thin line style Bluetooth phone handset that will let you talk like you would on a normal phone system. The linking of the phone to your iPad is fast, simple and easy. It is ideal for those that use their iPad for Skype or a VoIP internet call system. There is also a covered storage area that contains a USB cable for use when charging the Bluetooth handset. The storage area is also big enough to hold your ear plugs for listening to your music. The handset can be used to talk for 5 hours or be on standby for 200 hours. The charging time is about two hours and you can charge it with your computer or any USB AC powered wall charger. A charger does not come with the case. The nice thing about using a phone hand set is that people sitting around you cannot hear the other person speaking and for many people using a phone handset will just seem more natural.
There are a couple of issues that for me were problems. I linked the phone handset with two iPads and two iPhones and in all cases we had a buzzing noise in the background for the person receiving the call. When we did not use the hand set the buzzing was not present. The other issue is that I hold the iPad to read a lot and when I folded over the cover my hand was trying to hold the case right where the suede cover was covering the storage area. It just felt awkward and anything in the storage area would eventually fall out.
Overall the case is beautiful on the outside and the finish on the leather exterior is top quality. I rate the product as a four star item because of the buzzing in the call being heard by the person receiving the phone call. The buzzing is not so loud that you cannot use the phone handset but it is noticeable to anyone you call and they will comment on it.
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.
We have several different iPad/Android tablet cases.
Most of them are similar in style and function with the notable exception of the PadPivot which is an extraordinary and unique tablet stand.
But, this portfolio by CTA is a very nice leather tri-fold with several compartments and an internet phone.
*** Construction ***
The construction is made of a smooth grey suede interior with a black leather exterior.
When closed, it feels sturdy like a hardcover book.
***
You also have a connector compartment with enough space for a second plug or pair of wired (or wireless earplugs).
***
The phone is a nice option. I use several different wireless, Bluetooth headsets, so I probably would use the enclosed phone very infrequently.
***
The case can fit all of the current versions of the iPad, 1-4. iPad 5 is being redesigned, so we'll have to wait on its applicability here.
But, if you have an Android tablet that is the same dimensions as an iPad, then you'd have the option of owning a very nice, elegant and sturdy tablet portfolio.

The Bluetooth Phone Handset is perfect for someone who likes the feel of an old-fashioned phone. At 7 1/2" (190.5 mm) it's slightly longer than a standard handset, but has a nice ergonomic feel to it. It's quite a sleek looking unit, and quite a bit more comfortable to hold than some phones, especially if you'll be talking for some time. The CTA logo is on the top of the phone. The leather is an eye-catching patent leather with a cubist design that gives it a diagonal striped look. This is definitely an innovative design that seems tailor-made for those who prefer old-fashioned talk time with a touch of class. This innovative case has accurate cut-outs for the iPad. The depth of the iPad mini is approximately 0.37 inch (9.4 mm) and nestles quite nicely in this case. The cut-out for the iSight camera is spot on as are the ones for lighting connector, openings for the built-in stereo speakers, lightning port connector, headphone minijack, volume buttons, mute switch, etc. The 1/2" (12.7 mm) covers the opening for the iSight camera when the case is closed. As always, if you own an iPad you're constantly worried about protection. Mind you, there are those freakish accidents, but this case is solid and should hold up if it's dropped.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX:
~ Leather Case
~ Bluetooth Handset
~ Charging Cable for Handset
SPECS:
~ The handset is compatible with iPad, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone and most other Bluetooth enabled phones and computers
~ Case compatible with iPad 2 and the new iPad
~ Talk Time: 5H, Standby Time: 200H, charging Time: 2H
The iPad can easily be inserted into the case and once that is done a 2" (50.8 mm) leather flap with Velcro attachments can be tucked back around the case at the side to hold it in. The inside of the case is lined with a complimentary-colored light gray suede. There is a recessed pocket for the Bluetooth phone handset and another one that holds the charging cable. The recessed cable compartment is covered and secured by two Velcro attachments. There's also room enough for a few other small items in this compartment. There is a magnetic clasp that will keep the case close with a simple flip of the cover. This case is a folio and can be easily adjusted for viewing in both vertical (portrait) and horizontal (landscape) positions.

BoxWave HTC Sensation 4G DuoSuit - Slim-Fit Ultra Durable TPU Case with Stylish "S" Design on Back
The material is a little flexible and provides some shock absorption from impacts / falls. I wouldn't want to chuck it down the stairs it's a nice phone, after all but it works well for a drop from the desk.
Design is nice. I would have liked to see a more even split between the clear material and the frosted material.

rooCASE Slim-Fit (Black) Folio Case Cover with Multi Adjustable Viewing Angles for ASUS Transformer
Profile 4 Stars. This at least doubles the Prime's width. The protection is good so you are making a sacrifice to hopefully have the tablet look like new for a long time. Slim is most likely in comparison to Roo Case's Dual View case.
Fit 2 Stars. It slides into place but the fit is terrible. The bottom "hooks" for lack of a better term really feel forced. They should by design have an easy in and out feel. The hook to close the top of the cover also requires some force to close the cover. The hooks to keep it in place are great but Roo should really have thought about the function of each hook rather than make them all the same.
Overall I would give this 3 stars but am hesitant on keeping it. Will update with durability if I end up keeping it for an extended period of time but my first impression is that I will not have issues with durability.
***UPDATE
I am adding a star to my review for two reasons. First of which being PC Micro Store has been the first company to ever follow up with me on a purchase through Amazon. Pleasant conversation with a sales rep who explained that they sell a similar case for the iPad and said users mentioned it needed to break in. I am still not completely sold on the closing hook but overall the case broke in relatively quickly to a good point. No doubt this case will hold up over time though. I would give the seller 5 stars, it is nice to deal with a company that cares about its reputation and end user's experience. This case does NOT fit the TF700. I received mine today and my new Infinity just will not fit into this case the case it just a little bit too small. :-( sending it back mondayI contacted the seller after ordering and then reading some comments here about the fit of this case to a TF700, I was concerned about accepting delivery. I received a response within 24 hours from their customer service and they couldn't have been nicer. They encouraged me to try the case but I would have no problem returning the item for either a swap or a refund they had some new cases coming in as well that they indicated I was free to try to ensure a proper fit on my ASUS Infinity TF700.
I admit the case was a tight fit to the tablet but I am VERY pleased with it and have no intention of returning. Sliding the tablet into the two top corners and side holders was a breeze. Once in it took a little extra effort to wrap the bottom two holders around the lower corners of the tablet but once they were in I was comfortable that the tablet was in tightly. In fact, I preferred the tightness of fit as I felt the mounting was VERY secure and there would be no problem with tablet slippage. Also, since the case and corners are leather they will stretch a little over time and with use. I do not set the tablet up on a desk so I cannot comment how fitness would be affected if frequent removal from the lower frames for vertical viewing is done. However, overall I couldn't be happier with the case and highly recommend PC Micro Store.Received case and quality was quite good. Case has basically 6 hooks that keep it in place. One on the top, bottom, and each of the corners. The hooks closest to the spine couldn't wrap around the TF700T but the others did just fine. It seemed like the tablet was just a few millimeters to large. So, whenever I opened the cover, the case would fall from the tablet at the spine while the other hooks held.
In the end the product quality was solid, just didn't fit what it said it would properly.

Ultradock Access Ide Sata HDD Connect Via FW800 FW400 Esata USB
WiebeTech's new UltraDock v4 has built-in connectors for 3.5 inch IDE/PATA drives, and for both 3.5 inch and laptop size 2.5 inch SATA drives. With all power, FireWire, USB, and SATA cables included, this drive dock ships fully equipped to attach an exposed external drive to a computer for testing, cloning, data transfer, or any other purpose.
MyMac has used and evaluated every drive dock from WiebeTech since the company's inception early this decade. Some of their drive docks are better than others, but the new UltraDock v4 is the best of the bunch, and well worth its $200 price tag. Intrepid techies and repair shops will bundle this dock's purchase with one or more v4 Combo Adapters. Most expensive and top value is an ultimate bundle for around $800 (see below).
WiebeTech considers its drive docks to be professional equipment, as compared to consumer quality docks from competitors such as NewerTech. I don't know if WiebeTech is the industry leader in this professional category, but they make outstanding gear that is priced fairly and is supported by rapid and reliable customer service. UltraDock v4 is all metal, and has the requisite LEDs that would make any science teacher grin from ear to ear. My personal and review units occasionally need to be repaired or replaced, as will yours. Response time and results are always satisfactory.
MyMac tested an UltraDock v4 with and without several of the newest v4 Combo Adapters, using each of the possible port connections. FireWire 800 remains our optimal favorite for use with most Macintosh computers. Two of our evaluation v4 Combo Adapters appeared to be defective. WiebeTech replaced them immediately, and made certain the newer adapters were fully functional. Product development is ongoing, meaning the company is always working on better ways to deliver efficient hardware solutions. You may find that a replacement item is slightly different than the original one, which in this case has always meant it has been improved during the interlude.
The v4 Combo Adapters I use most often in real life are for pre-SATA laptop internal IDE/PATA drives, camera storage cards, and internal iPod drives. The aforementioned adapter set includes equipment to connect speedily all the above to an UltraDock v4. The physical rig looks weird, but works like a charm.
An UltraDock with or without an adapter is not elegant, and will never win any Apple Design Awards. Technicians are comfortable using such equipment, and don't think twice about swapping internal drives and their exposed circuitry hour after hour, day after day. Techies make mistakes just like normal people do, but WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters usually won't themselves cause careless errors.
Many of you will have exposed internal computer or iPod/iPhone drives in your lives, even if you are not the slightest bit interested in mounting them on a computer using a drive dock. Don't simply smash your old faithful drive, or toss it into the dumpster, or give it a nice warm bath, or leave it sitting on a dusty shelf. Work with a technician who will erase or repartition it, and then will either use it him/herself for bench testing, or will encourage you to put it to good use for additional storage. WiebeTech can provide cover plates to protect the guts of internal drives and make them almost bulletproof-handy for a life out of the box. Take note of the many accessories offered at UltraDock's product web page.
Our MyMac rating of WiebeTech's v4 UltraDock and Combo Adapters is 4.5 out of 5. This equipment is essential for serious technical work on internal drives of every possible flavor. Using UltraDock with or without an adapter, external drives mount on a Mac quickly, without any nasty or annoying error messages most of the time. If your tech bench qualifies for a superior array of handy drive mounting hardware, the modest price of this dock and its adapters is a bargain. Strong recommendation.

Caption: Photo provided by WiebeTech
I had a Wiebetech "Combodock" before this one to connect my external (IDE) hard drives. That one has died in less than two years due to some internal burn-out. Hopefully this will last longer... it also offers more connectivity options not only giving me IDE connectivity but SATA as well. SATA drives are now cheaper.
I deal with a lot of video and other digital media files through my work and need to store terabytes of data AND have them backed up. Internal hard drives still offer the most cost effective storage and quick access to these files. Problem with external drives is THEIR storage, it quickly piles up into an ugly mess in your office. Internal bare drives can be labeled, stacked and neatly stored on the shelf. Nowadays 1TB drives can be bought for around $100.
My only complaint is the cost at nearly $200. That's almost 2TB worth of drives. So if you don't need that much and swapping that many drives it almost doesn't make sense.
Note: an adapter and all cables are bundled into the product box: FW800, FW400, USB and SATA. This info was missing from the Amazon product page and I needlessly bought a SATA cable to connect to the dock. Don't need to buy anything more, one will have all connectivity to whatever drive in the box.

Overall this housing looks very OEM, not exactly though. The font on the top front BlackBerry Logo is a little off, not very noticeable unless you look hard at it. Also the metal looking part, the paint is a little blotchy. If you can get over that, this is a very good replacement housing. What is in the picture is exactly what I received. This housing fits perfect! All the buttons are there and work perfect also. I picked up a 8900 with the housing pretty beat (the inside was pretty gross too), so this was pretty worth it.Read Best Reviews of NEW OEM BLACKBERRY HOUSING FOR BLACKBERRY 8900 JAVELIN WITH DOOR Here
