V7 14.1" Edge Ultra Slim Laptop Bag with Red Trim

V7 14.1' Edge Ultra Slim Laptop Bag with Red Trim(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)Although this laptop back looks inexpensive, it has great functionality with several pockets, an expandable bottom, handles, and a shoulder strap.. The sides and bottom are lightly padded as is the interior laptop divider. The black and red nylon fabric is easily cleaned with a damp cloth. The outer most zippered pocket has space for pens/pencils, cellphone, and other miscellaneous personal items. Inside, there are three divided pockets -one padded and with a Velcro latch for a laptop and the other two for similarly shaped objects.

The only aspect I don't like is the handles, and I have to admit that they are a huge part of why I think this bag looks cheap. They are too thin without substantial padding, and that makes anything heavy inside uncomfortable to hold. Fortunately, the should strap allows for messenger-bag-carrying, and that's a lot more comfortable.

On the outside, the bag looks like many giveaways that conferences dole out with registration; however, the various compartments elevate it to something more. I recommend this as a budget laptop bag for casual use or for young people just starting out in their professions. Mid-level professionals are likely to find the look too cheap. (Note: I received a sample for review.)

BoxWave Capacitive iPod touch 4G Stylus (Jet Black)

BoxWave Capacitive iPod touch 4G StylusAfter buying my iPod Touch, I found that typing was quite difficult because of my nails. I went on the search for a stylus. Everyone was telling me that you couldn't use a stylus with an iPod Touch. Well, when I happened upon the Boxwave, I was a little skeptical because of all the wonderful reviews. I decided to give it a try. When it arrived and I gave it a try I was totally impressed. I've had it for a little over two weeks now, and absolutely love it. It works great. Now I can type and hit the right letter the first time. It even works great on my games. This is a must have for women with fingernails or guys with large hands. It also comes with a cord that attaches the Boxwave to your headphone port on your iPod so you can't loose it. The only thing that could be better, is the cord could be longer so that you could use the stylus without having to disconnect it from the iPod. Other than that, it's great. Stop hesitating and buy it NOW!

PDair Leather Case for Motorola RAZR XT910/Droid RAZR XT912 - Book Type (White)

PDair Leather Case for Motorola RAZR XT910/Droid RAZR XT912 - Book TypeWhat I really want to protect my phone is a case like I have for my kindle -thin and light and protects the screen. This is similar, but bulky and heavy. I'm not convinced the construction will last, as it seems the tabs holding the phone in are poorly secured. The case STINKS with some chemical manufacturing smell that hasn't gone away in the week+ I've owned it, and it took a month to get here from Hong Kong. On the other hand, it's the only case out there that covers the screen but isn't black.

VERBATIM 97086 USB DRIVE (2 GB)

VERBATIM 97086 USB DRIVEI think Verbatim is the best there is. I have two personally and this one is for my job. I love that they come in different colors so I can keep straight what is on which one at a glance. I love the place to put it on a ring and the retractable as opposed to caps that get lost.

Elan Frame, graphite, ice

Elan Frame, graphite, iceBesides the screen protector removal issue the Elan Frame in clear/white looks pretty stylish & gives it some added visibility. The case itself feels nice & solid with a hard plastic but I somewhat doubt the quality of the white material as I suspect that over time it'll change colour or perhaps peel off I haven't owned it long enough to confirm yet its a possibility

Aside from that I suspect it'll last much longer than my cheapo plastic bumpers which wore out every couple of months! For under $10 its worth it although I'd consider potential buyers to look into the Elan Form Graphite instead for a rear backplate

The quality of this case is very good and fits perfectly. But, if you have a screen protector on your iPhone, you will most likely have to remove it to use this frame.

Keyspan ZIP-LINQ Retractable Palm Sync and Charge Cable (K-ZIP-DATA-P04)

Keyspan ZIP-LINQ Retractable Palm Sync and Charge CableAlthough this cable lists compatibility with Tungsten W and T, and it will charge a Tungsten C model, it will not sync with C models. This information is buried on the support pages instead of the compatiblity page of the manufacturer's web site. I would have given this 4 stars if they had disclosed this.

If it had worked with my palm, I would say that it is very compact and light weight. It is similar in size to a white board marker when reeled in. The cable isn't long at 30 inches, but usually that is enough. Highly recommended as a compact alternative to a cradle.

The plug where the usb connector is attached to the cable looks like it might not last forever cause the cable is so thin and you usually accidentally push on the connection when plugging in the cable. But if you want compact for travel or as a backup to IR this is the choice.

I bought one of these for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, the USB cradle that came with my Palm m130 has always been very finicky; unless the A/C adapter is plugged in just right, it won't recharge my m130, even though it sometimes appears like it is (the charging icon displays on the Palm, but immediately after disconnecting from the cradle the meter indicates the same charge level as before). Second, the bulky cradle and adapter are not much fun to travel with.

I almost settled on a replacement cradle, but balked at the cost versus the aftermarket alternatives. Eventually I decided to give this one a shot. I'm sure glad I did!

I've been using it daily for a handful of weeks, and it has proven to be very dependable. For whatever reason, the first few times I tried I couldn't get the m130 to sync to my computer; since then, it has worked every time. And it has been a very reliable charger all along.

I try to be very gentle with the cable. The wires are quite thin and fragile, so being careful is very important. In contrast, connecting the m130 to the connector requires a firm, but measured, approach. I have the best luck when I lay both on a flat surface and slide them together, making sure the m130 is firmly seated in the connector. (A very gentle side-to-side rocking motion will confirm whether both sides of the connector mated to the Palm correctly.) Come to think of it, the synchronizing problems I had at first might have been a connection issue; I can't be certain, though.

Overall, I am extremely pleased by my decision to purchase this cable. It fits my needs for reliability and portability. A brilliant gadget!

It is up to the purchaser to determine whether his/her handheld device is compatible with the Zip-Linq.

Works perfectly with my Palm m130 using Windows XP Home and Windows 98 with Palm software already installed and running on both computers. Excellent for travel.

The Zip-Linq will not recharge the Palm battery as quickly as the Palm Cradle, and the computer must be turned on in order for the Zip-Linq to charge the Palm through the computer's USB port.

The Zip-Linq is somewhat fragile, so handle it carefully when inserting or removing it from the Palm. Also be gentle when extending or retracting the Zip-Linq cable.

If the purchaser buys the Zip-Linq cable to replace the original Palm cradle, there should be no glitches if he/she has already performed HotSync one or multiple times using the original Palm cradle. It SHOULD be as simple as replacing the original Palm cradle with the Zip-Linq cable.

One reviewer has indicated that his/her Palm data was lost the first time he/she attempted to use HotSync with the Zip-Linq. I'm not sure why this would happen if the Zip-Linq is compatible with the handheld in question, but one could always perform a HotSync with the original Palm cradle before using the Zip-Linq for the first time. Once the user gets comfortable with the device and its functionality, this precautionary measure should be unnecessary with future use of the Zip-Linq.

If the user inserts Zip-Linq into the USB port to run HotSync for the very first time (ie., initial install or reinstall of Palm software), Windows may not be able to read the Zip-Linq through the USB port initially. In the case of Windows XP Home, this writer believes this has nothing to do with the Zip-Linq cradle. Windows XP Home simply needs to find the correct driver from the Palm software in order to run HotSync through the USB port. When the Zip-Linq is inserted in the USB port, Windows XP Home may indicate that it has "Found New Hardware" and then prompt the user to allow the operating system to find the driver that will be used to read the USB port. XP may prompt the user to insert the Palm software CD so that it can find the right driver. This does not mean that Windows XP Home will reinstall the Palm software; it will simply look for the right file to run HotSync. It is a step-by-step procedure (ie., simple). In the case of Windows 98 and first use of HotSync, the operating system may not automatically be able to find the driver. In this case, it would be best to run HotSync on the original Palm Cradle before using the Zip-Linq.

The low price on this was great for a traveling charger for my Palm, but it is advertised as a syncer, but it doesn't sync at all. A little disappointing, but for the low price, I couldn't complain too much.

Want Keyspan ZIP-LINQ Retractable Palm Sync and Charge Cable (K-ZIP-DATA-P04) Discount?

I like the idea that it's retractable but it didn't fix my problem with the hot sync issue I thought I had. I think it's something in my palm but this item is compatable with the Zire 71 and would power it. It's a little bit of a tight squeeze to connect the cable to the palm but it works.

Nice case and for a great business phone, but tough to carry. The case and phone in combo like to hit the 9 key and dial a friend of mine without me knowing, like in the movie yesterday.

Handy Portable Document and Photo Scanner

Handy Portable Document and Photo ScannerOverview and Scan Quality:

This little scanner is lightweight, easily portable, doesn't take up much space, and is super easy to use. It takes a little getting used to to get scans straight (if you shift even slightly while scanning, table lines and rows of text will not be precisely straight). The scanned image is pretty clear and I have had no problems with bleeding, blurring, fuzzing, dulling, or anything of the like. It does sometimes pick up a bit of noise that adds a slight color in the background of monotone scans. This may confuse a printer to add that coloring should you need to print the scanned page. This scanner can scan color or monotone items and the resolution can be set to either 300dpi or 600dpi.

This is fine for quicky scans of receipts, reference material, and the like, but if you are scanning important records or anything that requires a high quality scan, you may want to practice with this thing until you get everything straight or just use a flatbed scanner for that sort of thing. You will want to scan on a white surface unless you don't mind bits of table or more significant noise showing up in your scan.

Included Software:

The software is not required in order to use the scanner and I don't like that it has no pdf option. The software takes whatever screenshot you select and will send the text to Word, a table to Excel, either to a file or the clipboard, or an image to a file, clipboard, or email. I did not bother with it since I use pdf files almost exclusively and I cannot tell you if any of the transfers are accurate. Whether you use the software or not, the scanner is recognized as a storage device and your scan opens as an image in Windows Image Viewer. If you have a pdf printer driver (such as CutePDF, which is a free download at the CutePDF website), you can simply select "print" in the image viewer and set it to full page to print the image to a pdf file. I have to admit that the scans look a lot better than I expected them to.

MicroSD Card:

The description on Amazon currently seems to indicate that the microSD card is optional. It is not, so make sure you have one when you get this scanner. It scans wirelessly and only gets plugged in via USB cable to transfer saved scans to your computer.

Batteries, Cables, Etc.:

I use mine for occasional quick scans I don't want to turn the flatbed on for, such as receipts and notes. I have not had a problem with batteries running out, but that may be an issue if you are using the scanner more heavily. I use eneloop rechargeable batteries in mine without problem. The cable is a standard USB, so if you lose it, you probably have a dozen or so lying around you can use and, if you don't, it is not expensive to replace. It also comes with a microfiber cloth for cleaning the scan window. Make sure not to use anything other than microfiber! If you lose it, the Walmart eye care center carries inexpensive microfiber cloths that will work just fine and other stores that sell glasses also carry them.

Scanning:

FYI, the image on Amazon shows the scanner going across a book page horizontally. If you will look closely, there are white lines at either end of the scanner and those indicate the scan area. For best results, start at the top of the page and move the scanner down toward you, making sure the image you want scanned stays in between those white lines. It is not picky and didn't have a problem with me being a little jerky. Any side-to-side movement will result in slightly jagged lines, but the direction it scans came out just fine even though I am not very good at keeping an even pace.

Conclusion:

This scanner is great for quick scans or on-the-go scanning. The results are crisp and clear with minimal effort and retrieving scans from it is very simple.

After purchasing my own mini SD card and my own batteries, I was ready to do some scanning.

It is a good as it claims to be! For storing good printable scans of Black and White and colour documents, the 300 dpi is more than adequate. 600 dpi tends to produce bulky documents (more than 2 MB). Unless you have a picture with some fine details that need magnification later on, the 500 900 kb file size produced by 300 dpi is sufficient. The maximum time it will take to scan an 8.5 x 11 inch paper is 12 seconds (colour, 600 dpi) but since I use the 300 dpi all the time, the recommended time is less than 5 seconds. Very quick!

It takes a little practice getting to know which side to orient the scanner not to produce an upside down image or a laterally inverse one. Unless you have Parkinson's disease, most people's hands will be steady enough to scan wonderfully crisp images. The problem is that some documents/book pages have staples, dog ears and other impediments that make it difficult to roll over a flat surface evenly. As far as surfaces go; I recommend laying the document on top of a pane of glass, which allows for a frictionless gliding motion. I tried to press the document page flat onto the reverse side of the glass pane and scan from the other side of the glass but unfortunately, unlike flatbed scanners, this results in a blurred image. It seems the thickness (1/4 inch) of the glass was too much to get a good scan.

I really have fun with this scanner but of course wouldn't recommend using it to scan entire books. I only use it to grab magazine articles and to scan receipts and the like, but it would also be excellent for pictures.

A 1 GB SD card is more than sufficient memory. I have been scanning non stop for weeks now and must have hundreds of documents and still haven't used half of the memory. The autoshutoff after 2 minutes saves on battery life, which has only needed replacing once since the 4 weeks I've used it daily. A caveat since human hands are unsteady by nature, chances are that after doing many scans, some will end up with characters on the page which are stretched or compressed a bit (portions where your hand glided too quickly or got stuck on a dog ear). So don't buy this if you have to produce large numbers of flawlessly reproduced documents or else you'll be disappointed or find you have to strive too hard for perfection.

I definitely believe this is a good buy, though some may be put off by having to buy your own sd card and batteries (which is a significant cost). But most phones have micro sd cards now, so that could be substituted and there are always some old batteries lying round the house right? (in the remote control maybe?).

I received this product in good order and in a timely fashion. It was pretty simple to operate, but it eats batteries. so make sure you have some extra ones on hand.

The scanner works basically as advertised. We will keep it. It is not difficult to use. My only complaint is that I wanted it to convert text into Word. I just could not get the included software to give me anything but gibberish when converting from optical to a Word formagt. But the device is easy to use and does a fine job of scanning and downloading optical files so I can save scanned documents but I cannot edit them.

Want Handy Portable Document and Photo Scanner Discount?

All I expect in a sub $100 scanner is here. Works reliably and clearly on flat documents. No required install of bloatware on a Macintosh. After you install batteries and a micro SD card (not supplied!) you format the card, set the time, calibrate with a piece of white paper and go. There are two options, low/high (300 or 600 DPI), and mono/color. These settings are not persistent between restarts. The device always scans full-width, about 8", and is quite tolerant of jerky scans. When you plug in to a computer using the included USB cable the scanner appears as a digital camera device and all of the jpeg's are in a single folder. There is no OCR software included for Macs so you have to use your own solution here.
