I've applied many screen protectors iphones, cameras, etc., and never had any problems, but this one was terrible. This screen protector was a dust/lint magnet from the get go. I could literally hear the static as soon as I took it out of packaging. It comes wrapped in a piece of 8 1/2x11 bond paper and was mailed in a letter envelope, so that should have been a clue of what was to come...

I carefully cleaned the surface of my son's innnotab2 and as soon as I removed the protective backing from the protector, it sucked up every microscopic piece of dust in the room! What a disaster!

Go for the eForcity ones for the Leap Frog2 (they'll fit) instead. You'll be glad you did!

I wasn't sure if I was going to mess it up but actually it was fairly easy to put it on and let the boys play with there tablet. I didn't want them to scratch the screen all up.

I'm so happy that someone FINALLY invented this little gadget. It's a miracle! The best thing since sliced bread.

After YEARS of dealing with the biggest product mistake apple ever made, and countless automatic, surprise shut downs, and trying all kinds of "spit and gum" do-it-yourself attemps, to keep that lame magnetic clip plugged in, I found this item thru google search.

If you have Macbook, or any Apple product with this amazingly BAD IDEA for the power source, you know whatI'm talking about...And you MUST get this device. You will not regret it and will be thrilled that you no loner have to deal with surprise, unwanted shutdowns due to the battery running out without knowing it. It will never unplug itself again.

I bought this because I used to be a PC user who was used to the standard plugs on PC notebooks. I use my notebook on my lap all the time and sometimes while lying down... so the plug kept tipping out of the side of the notebook... so I bought this neat little piece of plastic that holds me plug in. It still allows the plug to be unhooked from the computer without removing the plastic piece... but will hold it in there pretty firmly (so, if you trip over the cord, it does keep it plugged in... so be careful as it defeats Apple's careful planning for this exact situation).

The only downside I have for the product is the price of the actual product and shipping. Seriously, it is shipped in a small envelope and could easily be shipped for less than $3. And considering it's just a piece of plastic, the product and shipping should cost less than the item by itself. Yes, I know R&D and marketing cost quite a bit... but $18 plus almost $6 for shipping. That's a bit much. Sorry..

However, when you get the item, it is easily recognizable that said item could not have cost more than a dollar to manufacture. They could have at least made it out of more durable material, because it feels vulnerable to breaking in half.

I bought these screws because I lost the two that came with my iPhone 4 during disassembly. These screws worked, but one sheared while tightening. Also, the threads are not cut precisely, and the did not turn as freely as the OEM screws would.

Also, the metal that they are made from is of poor quality and is very brittle, so don't tighten them too much. They do get the job done, but try to find a higher quality screw if you can afford the extra dollar.

HHI Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Case UrbanFlip Series with Viewing Stand - Purple (Package

This case was everything I expected--very cute, nice quality. Pretty color, easy to use, slim enough to fit into my carrying case with tablet and keyboard. Love how it folds over to stand up. The stylus pen included got lost in the packaging because it's small, so be sure to look for it! Pen is okay for now, but I will probably buy a better stylus once I get a little more practice under my belt and know exactly what I need.

I purchased this case as something cheap and easy to protect my tablet. Without any reviews I didn't know how long it would last, but it looked nice and seemed to be of comparable quality to others listed in that price range. I also loved the carbon fiber texture which I haven't seen many with.

I was pleasantly surprised. This case is surprisingly durable and stylish.

The stand features work the same as other cases of the like and holds the tablet at a good angle for viewing (of course using it in a keyboard angle is upside down like other cases). It's comfortable to hold with the cover flipped around. The case openings all line up pretty well for the features of the Transformer Prime. Strong enough magnets in the cover keep it closed. It does add some weight but seems to be just enough to make it feel sturdy. It feels like a thin hard back book.

The only downsides I see are the same as with most covers of this type. It's difficult to use the back camera as the cover obscures it when flipped around, This can be avoided by putting it in stand position which is relatively easy to use while taking pictures/video. You also have to leave the cover open to charge it due to the cover being on the side of the charging connector.

The corners are not as well protected as I would have liked, but there is some gap between the cover and the tablet. It will take some bumps but I don't expect it to survive a drop on the corner. Though, All the sides are very well protected.

The worst thing I can say about what I purchased is about the added sketch stylus pen. On my transformer prime with no screen protector it barely worked. No matter how I used it, it wouldn't register or make many marks in a sketcher program. It wasn't why I bought the case so I consider it a freebee toss away.

Overall I would rate this as a great tablet cover and well worth the price. Just don't buy it for the stylus.

All buttons are accessible including both cameras. Ok, you have to leave the case open when charging. I added a small Velcro strip to the flap so that when at the low angled it doesn't collapse when you apply pressure when using on your lap. It does its job very well.

Update July 3. Bought another one for the second Asus TF201 and Keyboard dock.

The case works, functions as advertised, and has no real problems with it. The TF201 fits [tightly], and you shouldn't have any trouble with its functionality.

In my opinion, there are a few things I don't like about it. For one, it feels a bit flimsy. It has the feel of cardboard (where if someone were to bend it, it would stay that way forever). I've had it for some time, and it seems to be warping a bit like cardboard on its edges.

Another thing: the flap that holds the tablet in place when you wish to stand it up is also a bit flimsy, and will wear out in time -not quickly, but with enough time (circa 1 year if I had to estimate); it's already begun to wear out a little bit; I've had it for a couple of months, mind you. The covering also seems be weathered, and I've yet to expose it to rain or any type of direct moisture; keep that in mind.

As you can see by the images, you can only prop it up in two positions, so if you're looking to have a versatile case, look elsewhere.

As for the stylus, it's crud. Literally one of the worst styli I've ever used. It's made of plastic, and will almost certainly be misplaced within a week. Again: the item IS cheap!

In short, if I had to make the decision again, I'd go with something else.

This is a pretty nice case and does a good job of protecting your iPaq. It's got a nice little storage compartment for extra memory chips, as well as space to hold business or credit cards. One small complaint is that the side strap isn't as long as a stylus, so if you store an extra stylus in the holder, it will stick out a little either on the top or the bottom (or a little less on both). No biggie, though, that's really nitpicking.

Also, as you should be able to tell from the picture, it is a bit bulky. If you use it, you iPaq is no longer a "Pocket" PC, but it will fit nicely in your laptop bag, briefcase, or (for the ladies) your purse. I wish there were some clever way for it to attach to one's belt in such a manner that it could slide in and out for relatively easy access. Oh well, I guess we'll never see a product like that...

I've been using the Wacom Intuos2 9X12 Graphics Tablet at my job for roughly the last six months...The bottom line, it's just a great product..Here's why...

I won't go through all of the features of this tablet, because you can read that in any other review on this site, but I will tell you what I use it for, and what I like and dislike about it. (And there isn't really anything that I DISLIKE about it.)

Right out of the box, I could tell that this was a well built product. It's not overly light, and it just feels "strong", if that makes any sense. It feels sturdy. In the box was the tablet itself, the pen, the mouse, some very easy to understand instruction, and 2 cd's. One for the installation of the tablet, and the other for the installation of the software that comes with it. Procreate painter classic, and Photoshop.

Installation was a breeze. Plugged it in, put in the cd, clicked "yes" a few times, and I was using it. (I'll note here that I use mine on a VERY beefed up Gateway system running Windows XP Pro) After the simple installation, I took it for its first test drive. I put the pen on the tablet, and starting moving it around. Let me tell you, it took some getting used to. But don't worry, I felt like I was a pro at it after about 10 minutes or so. The toughest part for me to get used to while doing sketches was to not look at the tablet while drawing, as you would while doing a drawing on paper. Looking at the screen and not looking at my drawing hand was a new experience, but once again, I felt fine with it after 15 minutes or so.

So after I felt pretty good about using the pen on the tablet, next I moved to the wireless, battery-less mouse that came with it....To put it simply, I didn't like it at all! It seemed to glide really fast across the tablet, and it just seemed extremely light and just hard to use. After trying it out for a few minutes, I put the Wacom mouse in the desk drawer, and that's where it has stayed for the last 6 months. Maybe I could have gotten used to the feel of it with more time, but I didn't get this thing for the mouse, I got it for the pressure sensitive pen!

I got to work right away using the tablet for the art that I do for work. Plainly put, it makes it 100 times more fun, faster, and easier using a pen instead of a mouse. Let alone a pressure sensitive pen like this one. The kind of work that I use it for is things like designing logos, architectural sketches, taking something out of a photo that doesn't need to be there, etc. And I use the Procreate Painter Classic that it comes with almost exclusively for this kind of art work. I use Photoshop to do most of the coloring, and straightening up of a piece of work.

In conclusion, this is a fantastic product, from a company that I really "trust". I heard about the company when I started to talk to fellow artists in my area about good tablets, and they all said that Wacom's Tablets are the kind to go with. I now see why! Theirs is the only brand of tablet I've ever used, and the only one I ever care to use. I see no reason to venture off to other products, because I'm completely happy with the Wacom Brand.

Like I said above, I use the 9X12 size. I believe they make them 2 sizes smaller, and two sizes bigger. But for what I use it for, 9X12 is DEFINETLY big enough, and I can see no reason to go any bigger.

All in all, great product from a great company, and if you can get one, you should. Even if only for play.

To let you know how much I stand behind this product and this company, I recently ordered a Wacom Graphire2 4X5 tablet STRICTLY for myself, for home use. Just to have fun with. I'll write a review of the Graphire2 when I get it and test it out. But from what I've already heard about them, they're just as good of a product as the Intuos2 that I use now.

I know others have complained about the durability of these types of remotes (i.e., they have a tendency to just inexplicably stop working after a month or two of use), and I had the same complaint with one I bought a couple of years ago. After one month of use with this one, however, everything seems to work just fine. The track pad isn't the most precise or sensitive pad in the world, but it gets the job done and only rarely fails to registers taps. Having the programmable IR buttons is a pretty cool bonus, and setting these up is about as easy as could be.

perfect little device... highly recommend this unit for anybody wanting remote activity to their computer. however the range could be a little better.

I use my Nook Color daily. This case has held up very well over the last few months. Holes are in the correct places. I generally keep it in the entire stand housing either vertically or horizontally. You will have better speaker quality if it is out of the stand housing. A few times I have stood it up vertically using the stand/velcro like showing in the picture, and there have not been any issues. It is a definite great buy! I bought it in red, pink, and black for my family.

Fits my Nook Color well. Not sure if the material is real leather, but I doubt it since the price was low. Has a weak magnetic flap that covers the screen when not in use. Case is in two pieces, the cover around the nook, and the stand portion, which includes the front flap. Pieces attach to each other via Velcro. One thing I did not like, is in order to stand the nook up in portrait mode, you have to un-Velcro the two pieces, rotate it, and stick it back. I would like to have had the two piece connect in a different manor, which would make it easier to rotate the nook 90 degrees. This is my only reason for not giving it 5 stars.

Title says it all. First, it doesnt fit the Nook well. Part of screen covered up by leather. It's likely not real leather cowhide but cheap "leather look vinyl". Item had an odor to it. But it's made in China what would one expect. I'm likely going to return this for a different one. Don't buy this. More Chinese junk, if I would have known this ahead of time I would not have purchased. The pictured item did not match exactly what I received either. Avoid.

Penpower Docket Port 467 A4 portable sheetfed scanner

Summary: If you are tech savvy and don't mind looking around for the software/drivers that you need and installing them on your own, then talking to tech support to get everything working, you will be OK with this scanner. Otherwise, it is not user friendly at all.

The scanner that arrived appeared to be in "used" condition. The seal on one side of the box was peeled away and the components looked as if they had been removed from the plastic and then re-packaged (the plastic bags weren't sealed or taped). The scanner itself was also dusty and had fingerprints. Anyway, as long as it works I don't care if someone tried it and returned it.

Very easy software installation on Win7 Pro 64-Bit. I don't have a CD drive so I just Googled "download DocuPort 467 drivers" and the first result took me direct to the manufacturer's download page. Drivers are all up to date including 64-Bit drivers for Win 7!! I downloaded, ran the .exe and clicked "next" a few times through the wizard and all was done. When I plugged in the scanner it was immediately recognized and the driver loaded with no problem. The driver includes TWAIN drivers so you can scan directly into your favorite image software or document management software.

Another link on their download page allowed me to download and install their "ScanWizard DI" software which includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and barcode reader functionality to create searchable PDFs. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with the DocketPORT 467 since it kept saying it couldn't find any scanner. I uninstalled it.

I looked on the CD label and discovered it includes a software package called "Presto! PageManager" Since I don't have a CD drive in my PC, I looked on the Docucap website for it but it was not available anywhere on their website. In the end I had to install "Burn4Free", create an ISO file from the CD on another computer, then mount the ISO using PowerISO in order to install the PageManager software.

Next, I tried to install the user manual but when I clicked on that I got a "File Not Found" error. No manual was included on the CD. I searched their website but unfortunately the manual wasn't anywhere on their website. I did a Google search and found a copy of the manual on a retailer's website.

OK, now I started scanning. Right away I discovered that the "Scan to PDF" function is pretty much useless. After you scan each page it asks you for the document options (whether you want one multi-page PDF or individual files for each PDF). It doesn't seem to matter what you press, you never get a multi-page PDF. Also, it's pretty annoying to have to respond to a dialog box after EVERY SINGLE SCAN, especially when you have hundreds of pages to scan. In the end, I decided to default to JPG images.

Even with JPG images, I was getting a dialog box every time I pressed the scanner button. It would ask me what program I wanted to use. I chose "Presto! PageManager" each time but it wouldn't "remember" that choice. I searched the manual but there was nothing in there about how to set the default. In the end, I called tech support but got voice mail. I left a message and they called back in about 30 minutes. The setting was easy to do but completely undocumented. Once I had it set up I could load a document, press the button, it would scan to JPG and then I could load the next document and press the button. I don't need to click or press anything on the PC...it's fully automated.

One other minor annoyance is that it leaves a black margin on the right edge of the scanned image if your document is not as wide as the scanner. I'm not sure why it can't auto-crop but there doesn't seem to be a setting for that. I'm only using this to submit expense reports, so it's fine for that, but if you were scanning photos you'd have to manually crop them all afterwards.

I think the reason it's so non-user friendly is that the company's main business is making these scanners for OTHER companies to package together with their own software. Software and user interface doesn't seem to be their strong point.

Anyway, if you want a simple scanner that will scan lots of documents to JPG easily, this one will do fine. If you're looking for fancy stuff like OCR or multi-page PDF scanning, you should probably spend some more money!

I purchased this item as an easy portable scanner while researching family history. It is well worth the amount paid. I have taken it to my aunts home and scanned documents and pictures. She was very impressed at the ease of it. I could scan items and they never had to leave her home. Great product.

SanDisk 32 MB CompactFlash Card

At 1024 x 768 resolution, this memory card holds 200-390 images on my Polaroid PDC-700 camera (that's like 8-16 rolls of film). The price and capacity are just right for weekend trips or special events. **Go crazy** and take pictures of anything and everything that catches your eye!

I took 89 pictures in 5 hours at my company's "Relay for Life" event on Friday, and really enjoyed not having to "budget" my photos or worry about running out of film. The image quality was excellent, and downloading was quick & easy with a digital film reader.

I'm planning a 2-week trip to Spain this fall, and am considering an additional 32MB SanDisk memory card just in case I get **Too Crazy**. Does anyone know if they make a storage case for spare memory cards?

I have a 32 MB Sandisk Compact Flash card for my Nikon Coolpix 950, a 2-megapixel digital cam. This card will allow you to record about 50 pictures at the standard (640x480) resolution, so if you find you're not a 'power user' of your camera, it should be plenty and the dollars-to-megabyte ratio is right!

However, if you regularly shoot at higher resolutions such as 1600x1200 (i.e. 8" x 10" photo quality), you won't be able to fit 20 photos on this card. In that event, you might want to think about going for their 96MB card (also available from Amazon!)

With this size card you might also want to think about going for Sandisk's inexpensive USB card reader it's up to 50x as fast and a lot less hassle than hooking the camera up to the computer!

When I purchased my digital camera (Kodak DC280) I included one of these for extra space. The card works properly and was at a good price. What else can you ask for?

Not much, unless you find that you sometimes take lots of photos. I guess that includes me. In which case you'll wish that you purchased a larger card. I bought the Viking 128mb card, and now feel completely prepared with the combined cards providing enourmous storage. Unless you are going to be away for an extended period, I can't imagine needing more space.

The bottom line is that this card works, but you need to really consider what your storage requirements will be so you can select the right size.

I didn't realize that there are large differences between brands of CompactFlash cards until I purchased (thinking that I was saving money) an inferior, "no name" brand. The generic card literally fell apart on me.

After making that mistake, I researched through the tech boards and unequivically, the SanDisk and the Viking disks received the best reviews and the highest ratings.

I chose the SanDisk brand because its price was better than the Viking's without foregoing the quality as I had done previously.

Sony PEG-T415 Clie Handheld

Although the PDA market is moving towards color, I decided to go with the latest monochrome offering from Sony. I loved the sleek design and the 320x320 screen. I feel that all Palm based PDA's function exactly the same (no matter how hard they try to market them separately). You're paying for the design and in some cases compatibility. The USB connection and the rechargable battery were also pluses for me. The software that came with the t415 is great but taxing on the memory if you install all of its offerings (3rd party software is not essential to utilize Clie)

I was disappointed with the screen though. It looks nothing like how Sony has posted it on the web site. The text and pictures are very sharp but the t415 uses reflective technology similar to the Palm m505. So if you're using it in a dim room and the light isn't hitting the screen at just the right angle, it's really difficult to see. No problems in bright, direct light. One other flaw is the placement of the buttons. If you look at the Clie from the side, the task buttons stick out ever so slightly so if you carry it in your pocket using the cover, you could accidently hit the butttons and turn it on. Sony should try and improve that aspect of the Clie. PC users should have no problems syncing. Mac users on the other hand will have to purchase "missing sync" software from markspace.com.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the t415. If you want a cheaper monochrome PDA you might want to check out the VisorEdge which is now ($$$). If you want color, I hear that the best thing to do is wait until the New Year arrives.

When my Palm IIIxe started getting flaky, I looked around for a new handheld. I wanted the Sony Clie 610, but apparently they're discontinuing it now--everyone's out of stock, including Sony's own store. Why they'd discontinue a popular midrange color handheld when the market is moving that way, I've no idea. The alternatives were to pay $... more for the audio capabilities of the 760, or pay $... less for the b/w 415. I chose the 415 because I don't really want or need the audio, and I liked the slim design.

Overall, this is a great device. There IS a contrast control, contrary to what one of the other reviewers said--it's right on the front of the device in the bottom left hand corner of the input area. I do agree that the screen is dim and hard to read, but I find that in most cases the backlight helps, and since the battery is rechargeable, I don't worry too much about keeping the backlight on.

The high res display is neat, and I think worth a little extra. I am not super-impressed with the pictures and movies--I think they'd work better on the color screen. I like the ability to use the Memory Stick, though I haven't tried it yet. Getting the data to my new Clie from the old Palm was very easy, thankfully. And there are a number of small features and 3rd-party apps that make this better than my old Palm. The WA Clock, for one, which allows you to.. *gasp* set an alarm without making a date book entry. The Clie can play various different sounds for an alarm, too. A lot of the 3rd-party apps are limited or trial versions, but Documents To Go (which allows you to share Word and Excel documents) is a welcome addition.

My biggest gripe is that Sony has changed the connector on this handheld from previous Clies, so the Targus keyboard I bought (which claims to work with "Sony Clie Handhelds") doesn't fit it. Even the salesperson didn't seem aware of this, and Sony sure hasn't gone out of their way to publicize it; the only way you can tell is to note that there are separate versions of some of their peripherals for the 415 and for the 320/610/760 group. Oh well.. if they hadn't done that, this would've been a five-star machine.

I find that I'm the kind of person who wants to purchase the "top-of-the-line" in gadgets. However, I am also the kind of person who can't ever afford it. So I have to be an efficient shopper to get satisfaction. I must have read 50 or more reviews for this product (and a select few others)before I decided to purchase it. I knew that since I was ordering it I would not like the idea of having to send it back. The majority of the reviews I read on the T415 all complain of a screen that is anything from irritatingly dim to impossible to use. In fact numerous people claimed to have returned the T415 in favor of another handheld. I was disappointed to hear this since I really enjoy higher resolution whenever I can get it and I LOVED the idea of being able to customize the alarm sound however I wanted.

I finally got the chance to...check it out on display. Now I understand the problems that people were having.......they need to take more vitamins and get their eyes checked. I ordered one right away. The screen is head and shoulder above all the other handheld I have seen. I LOVE the that I can get more information on the screen at once. That means smaller fonts and icons people! If you can thread a needle, you'll handle this gadget well. I you cant even see a needle when you hold it in you hand, look elsewhere for you plam device. The sound function is as cool as I expected. Don't expect to throw out all your stereo equipment or anything but it's cool none the less.

The screen doesnt have the same near iridescent background as a few other palms and some digital watches but it is not noticably dimmer than any other LCD screened device. (cell phones, calculators, ect...) I own a wizard organizer and the screen is slightly clearer and many time sharper that that. PLUS the bluish hint to the the gray scale along with the black on the screen actually makes this more of a "duochromatic" rather that monochromatic pda. Two colors rather than just one.

If any of the features above are intriguing to you, I recommend you choose the T415. Provided you don't want to spend the extra cash for the color version of essentially the same device. The color version does have I clearer screen as is expected...it's COLOR for pity's sake. You get what you pay for.

I must agree that I have not yet found the solution for the button problem. I dont mind the shape. I dont mind the tiny scroll "lever" (it's not even really a button). I just can't seem to stop the thing from turning on no matter where it is. Pocket, briefcase, soft pda case, wherever. I'm currently looking into some sort of hard case but there are few options for such a unique sized and shaped device.

I've read some of the other reviews, and I disagree with many of the gripes. I played with several handhelds before deciding on the Clie 415. The 320 resolution is wonderful; true, it isn't as pretty or eye-catching as the color displays, but the 320 is much easier to read than the lower resolution found on the lower-end clie and the handspring and palm systems. The display can be dim, but it is not any dimmer than any other handheld I played with, and it was actually easier to read for me than some b/c of the 320 display. I actually paid more money for the 415 b/c I wanted the display upgrade from the lower end clie. Also, it was much more attractive looking b/c of it's super-slimness and cute body styling, but it still had the memory slot for expandsion (plus Sony now has a memorystick camera for the clie out now).

I don't know about the remote feature, since I have a perfectly good remote control at home that works just fine. I do think it was silly of Sony to put a remote feature on the clie.

Documents to Go has been a life-saver to me. I am a very busy person and it helps being able to write and edit documents on the run.

The only gripe I truely have with it is, and this is not Sony's fault, that you can't get Handsprings datebook+ to go on it. The datebook plus has a week in view that shows a week and displays what you have scheduled, not just the bars representing that you have something scheduled. I tried to download the only version of datebook plus I could find on the internet (a beta version) and it froze the system up, so I had to delete it. That was the only reason I even considered a handspring over this product.

Overall, I have become thourougly dependent on this product and love it... I just wish I could upgrade to the color, but I could not justify paying so much extra for the color when I really wouldn't use it, it would just be for show.

The Clie 415T would have rated 5 stars if not for its extremely dim screen.

I bought the 415T and used it for 3 weeks before returning it and buying a Clie 610C. (I highly recommend the 610C.) While I absolutely loved the 415T's thin, brushed aluminum chassis, I just couldn't get used to how dim the screen is. If there is any kind of bright light behind you the screen is almost impossible to read. You need to have the back light on almost all the time, and even that was unsatisfactory. The blue-green back light is too weak to remedy the situation.

Another disappointment is the "Screen Commander," Sony's program that turns the Clie into a remote control unit for your TV and SOME other components. Not that I bought the Clie for this feature, but it would have been cool if it had worked well. The problem is that the 415T will only control 4 components at a time: your TV, DVD, VCR and receiver. It will NOT control your cable box or a CD changer, so for me the feature turned out to be worthless.

Bottom line, though is that the screen is just too dim. If Sony fixes the screen brightness they will have a real winner on their hands, because the 415T has by far the coolest form factor of any PDA.

While I have my Note in a protective leather case I wanted something a little extra while I had it in my laptop bag traveling. Plus it made it easier to grab out of my bag for TSA security scans. Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002

(Note: The only difference between the e750 and e755 is that the latter e755 comes with a photo viewer software title on the companion CD. In fact, the machine in the e755 packaging is labeled "e750," so I'll refer to it as e750 in this review.)

Featuring a new mobile processor, the most internal memory of any PDA (64MB RAM plus 64MB non-RAM for a total of 128MB), built-in 802.11b wi-fi, the best PDA screen from Toshiba so far. and good battery life, the e750/e755 is close to being perfect. The compact (0.6 inches thin) and attractive form factor is a huge plus, as well.

The new Intel processor (PXA255 running at 400Mhz) is without doubt the star of the new line-up. It's an updated version of the first-gen Xscalar processor, which wasn't getting good reviews due to lack of optimization options. The e750/e755 *is* optimized for the new processor, which results in speedy application launches and operations. Nothing gives a Pocket PC user more pleasure than seeing his/her favorite app come up instantly. The e750 also allows you to switch between two speeds, hence you can choose between higher speed or better battery life. Even at the lower speed, PPC apps feel quick and responsive. The LiIon battery is user replaceable, and an optional "extended" battery is available now from Toshiba.

What's left to improve for Toshiba is their lackluster customer support. Also, because their PPCs are made by an OEM in Taiwan rather than in their own plants in Japan, the build quality is still a bit lacking, but the e750/e755 seems to be better made than the error-prone e740.

Update with more details:

The e750 is indeed a joyful PDA! The high price and the lack of a built-in camera aside -but who really needs the latter, right? -it really comes close to being a master-of-all-trades device. I haven't tested the wireless features as much as I had hoped, due to the fact there just aren't many free hot spots around these days. But I'll update this review when I get more hands-on experience in this area.

In terms of everyday use this is a true workhorse. I'll talk more about the specs below, but the numbers don't really reveal how pleasant using the e750 is. The hundreds of annoyances that plagued the e740, its older cousin, have been fixed. There are far fewer crashes and syncs go more smoothly. At just 6.5 ounces, while not the lightest Pocket PC, you get something very close to a handheld computer, especially when you get the foldable keyboard!

The e750 has a total of 128MB of RAM, 32 of which is ROM, 32 is flash-ROM (which means content stored on it won't go away even if the battery is completely dead... think of it as a small hard disk without moving parts), and the rest 64 is true user-accessible RAM. Having a real 64MB to play with is a bliss, especially for someone like me who started out with 16MB on the Casio EM-500 and last saw 46MB on the HP iPaq 1910. The extra 18MB makes a big difference. Now I can play Doom and Quake at the same time!

Given the thin form factor of the e750, it still amazes me how it can feature both a Type I/II CompactFlash (CF) slot as well as a Secure Digital (SD) slot. Since wi-fi is already built-in, both can happily be used solely for storage expansion. The highest capacity for SD right now (as of April 2003) is 512MB, but that costs a small fortune. The best value belongs to 256MB cards, and I highly recommend the one from Lexar (see my review there). If you put in a 512MB SD and a 512MB CF, you'll get 1GB of extra storage for under one-hundred-fifty dolrs! The CF slot can probably be used for other peripherals; but the situation is not clear right now as to which CF peripherals will be supported in the e750.

The 3.8-inch (measured diagonally) screen is the largest among Pocket PCs on the market today, and the best from Toshiba so far. I personally like the screens on the iPaq 1910 and Viewsonic V35 better, but this screen is more than "good." The resolution is still PPC's standard 240x320, so it would be nice to see someday PPC manufacturers would go higher than that. I'd love a PPC the size of the e750 but with a 4" screen and 320x480 resolution!

There are a lot of optional accessories you can get for the e750, including the foldable keyboard and extended battery mentioned above. This is truly an exciting newcomer to the PPC family... one that looks and performs like a winner.

I've recently made the decision to purchase a 755 to replace my

aging Palm unit. I'm still in the learning phase of using the

755/Pocket PC and so far I'm mostly pleased. So, instead of

reiterating the specifications of the 755 I will offer a

comparison to my old device and some observations:

The 755 has 48 times more memory than my 2MB Palm. Great.

The 755 has 2 memory card options. My Palm is ancient in this

respect, but more modern palms address this via SD.

The 755 uses a lot of juice (color screen/fast processor).

I get about 2.5 months of service on my Palm on two AAA

batteries (using the backlight on rare occasions. I

haven't tested how long the 755 would last on one charge,

but have seen the battery indicator go to 80% after an hour

of trying a load of things (browsing, music etc).

One item to note: after a few days of use I'm getting an

incorrect 99% charged battery on the Settings/System/Power

application. I'm not sure if I'm getting this because I

upgraded to ActiveSync 2.6 doesn't budge from 99%.

The 755 has WiFi built in. Did I really need this? Not really,

but I now can say Hey check this out man! So far I haven't

had any problems with JavaScript or formatting while viewing

my favorite sites. The only problem is the amount of scrolling

you will need to do to view the entire page.

Images look great on this unit. I used Photoshop Elements,

in batch mode, to downsize a folder of images to the screen

dimensions of the 755 and created a neat little slide show in

PhotoBase, an application that comes with the 755 (not the

750). You can imagine how thrilled I was to see color images

after using a Palm mono unit for almost 5 years.

The Windows Media player works better than I thought with MP3s

(I haven't viewed any movies with it yet). The music plays back

smoothly even when I am doing other things (eg File Explorer,

slide show). Okay, I'm lying, I got a couple of blips while

resizing a pdf document in Acrobat no big whoop.

This is one great feature now I can wait for the 40MB iPod

to come out.

Graffiti (Palm) vs Block Recognizer (Pocket PC).

I started using Transcriber for entering text I was

heart-broken. I couldn't enter text correctly, fast enough.

I exclaimed "Hallelujah!" when I discovered Block Recognizer.

It allows Graffiti input. Great response time and nifty

special character entry assistant.

Synchronization. Yikes! I'm going to have to get use to this.

With Palm, 95% of all applications/data get Sync'ed via Hot

Sync in a pretty standard way.

With Pocket PC there are number of ways this could happen. So

far I have come across:

* Drag and drop to Pocket Device directory

* Custom app install

* For media, creating a Playlist in Windows Media Player

and then requesting a sync from within the player.

* Copy application to device and then execute to install.

I won't enter my contacts or other "precious" info until

I fully understand syncing with ActiveSync and without first

coming up with a back-up plan.

One sad item...I can't sync up with my beloved ibook Windows

only! Real easy with Palm.

Software availability: Palm beats Pocket PC hands-down. There's

tons of software for the Palm, a great percentage free. I'm

not really complaining I just need a really good version of

Tetris and I'm happy.

The 755 has a very nice solid feel to it. I wish the sides

were rubberized though. I've dropped my palm a number of

times, thankfully it wasn't fatal. I'd hate to drop a ...[undisclosed dollar amount]+

device.

The sync base for the 755 is built extremely well nice

heavy metal with rubber feet. Unit slides in easily.

Reading books on the 755 is a pleasure compared to palm. Bigger

screen, nicer fonts etc. Also, I found mBook Reader (freeware,

downloaded it from the internet) to be good alternative to

Microsoft's Reader can read Palm format files!

Things I'm not thrilled about:

During the lifetime of my Palm, I've never turned it on

accidently. The Toshiba's record button is the first thing

that gets pressed when I take the unit out of it's sleave.

I believe this button can be remapped to some other function.

After inserting a CF card (Type I) there is a smidgeon of

space left over in the slot. I'm assuming that type II cards

are fatter. I'm worried about this if I can see the

contacts inside the unit, then a little drop of water can find

it's way in there also (think rain I keep the 755 in my shirt

pocket).

I had to reset the unit, using the stylus hole a few times

already. My palm is very stable, as long as I don't install

hacks that misbehave. I'm not sure who to blame yet (Toshiba/

Microsoft).

After one week of use, I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

I just hope I can get the battery indicator issue and sync'ing

procedures squared away.

If you just need a device to keep track of contacts and maintain

your schedule this device may be overkill go for a Sony SJ-33

instead (...[undisclosed dollar amount]). I just bought one for my wife.

If you need a new toy to play with on top of the usual PDA functions this unit looks promising.

Buy Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Win PocketPC 2002 Now

I found this handheld device to be one of the best so far. With its new Xscale PXA255 CPU, the speed is amazing (nearly doubled in some tasks) and it also uses about 30% less battery power (1.3V instead of 1.5V for PXA250). The new 3.8" transflective LCD makes it the largest and one of the best screens in the U.S. Market (not including e550G from Toshiba Japan. The reflective LCD screen was one of the major draw-backs for the e740.) To correct viking632, the e750 has 64MB RAM + 32MB NANO RAM + 32MB for the OS. Most of the issues e740 had (1% battery, ActiveSync drop) have been resolved for the e750/755. With the added value of Wireless LAN, USB, (VGA with expansion pack) and removable battery, this is the BEST Pocket PC in the US market right now (Q1 2003). Highly recommend!

Not as light, not as sharp, not as fast, and not as powerful as some other devices out there, this version of the Toshiba Pocket PC takes the features out there and combines them into a package that actually is better than the sum of its parts.

It's got the latest CPU and OS which, while promising a lot, are actually slower and less capable than they ought to be. It's got a new screen, while bigger and brighter than its e740 predecessor, is not as bright and sharp as other devices such as the Sony Clie.

It IS quite expandable what with its SD AND CF slots (important for someone who already has several CF devices and memory from other PDAs and cameras!) Not to mention the built in Wi-Fi which means I no longer need to carry a CF network card.

Only issues I have are that I also bought a couple SanDisk 256MB SD cards which seem to be incompatible with this device for some reason and Toshiba merely said to check the SanDisk site for compatibility. Seems that SanDisk doesn't certify this combination so be aware of that. Also this device still has a one touch record button that always gets pushed accidentally keeping the device on and taking up memory with nothing. They really ought to remove that.

Otherwise, it's probably the best Pocket PC out there.

The e755 has an outstanding screen, fast processor, tons of memory, both CompactFlash and SD/SDIO expansion capabilities, but the Wi-Fi is not quite fully functional.

When using the e755 Wi-Fi with a Netgear WG602 802.11b/g access point, the e755 handled the wireless linkup and communication very well, as long as I only configured the access point for MAC filtering and didn't activate either the 64 or 128 bit WEP. As soon as I turned on the WEP the e755 wasn't able to maintain a connection with the access point (which was within 10 feet and clear line of sight).

If you're looking for a powerful and flexible PDA with unsecured wireless access, then the e755 is an excellent choice, but if you also need to have your wireless communication encrypted you'd be wise to look elsewhere.

Acase Capacitive Stylus Pen Combo (Twist Style) for Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Blackberry Playbook

I know there are many who completely dismiss the use of a stylus and will only use a finger to manipulate a device, but I enjoy the option. I've got large hands and while the iPad has a large enough screen to be useful, touch typing on a smartphone is not always easy. Even on an iPad, when more accuracy is needed, a stylus works better for me. I'm also afraid I have not completely given up on paper-based forms and documents and always need to have a pen handy. I looked for a stylus that combined a capacitive rubber tip (the foam types such as Pogo just don't feel right to me) with a ballpoint pen. The Kensington comes close, as does the other Acase combo, but both suffer from a pen-cap that, once removed for writing, won't fit over the other end for temporarily storage. I can't just ditch the cap either, since the clip is attached to it and without the clip it won't stay in place in my pocket, not to mention that the pen would be exposed and subject to marking anything it came in contact with.

This Acase twist-style combo stulus/pen seems to have gotten it right. It uses a "Cross" type mechanism to expose the pen, with the capacitive-rubber end always exposed and accessible. The pen refills are Cross-type also, so quality refills are readily available, although the one that came pre-installed has worked well. The stylus works just fine. I find it a lot more accurate than my finger. Time will tell how durable the rubber tip is, but it seems ok so far. Using it as a pen also works well. It is heavy enough and long enough to feel like a normal pen. The only drawback I would have is that the Acase logo is a little too prominently plastered on the side of the pen. I would prefer a plain barrel and not have to always advertise for a company, but that's just me.

We decided to try out 5 stylus in the office and between us, all 4 preferred this one over all of the rest. It has the best contact response with the screen ie. you can lightly "drag" it across the screen and it will mark on the iPad. With all of the others, you had to "press" to get a mark. Not having to press GREATLY reduces hand stress and fatigue. It's also very handy having a real pen on hand as well.

We do wish that it had a Tether. That would make for the perfect option.

Both the capacitive tip and the pen work flawlessly. The pen is very high quality. It never blotches at the tip like some cheap ballpoints do and so far has not leaked.

It works as advertised. I wish the technology would advance so there could be thinner "nibs" for finer writing & drawing. The response on the tablet requires slower than normal movement. Maybe that's the tablet's fault??? I just got a stylus from Stylus-R-Us which cost $25. It has better response but still, the line is not as fine as I would like.
