Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB Flatbed Scanner

Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB Flatbed ScannerFirst of all, you will need to figure out where you're going to put this thing: it's quite large. It measures 22" x 15". The hinged lid, though removable, requires over 2 feet of clearance above the surface that the scanner sits on.

The scanner works fine with my computer, but I confess that I have Windows 2000. Other reviewers are reporting problems with other operating systems. DO read them.

By calling the included software "El Crapamundo" and saying that "It really stinks", the previous reviewer is being much too nice. I don't think that Amazon will allow the words that I really want to use.

You get two CD ROMs: One contains the drivers, and the other is scanner-compatible graphic software from Ulead. The driver CD ROM installs a software panel with VERY limited setting options. Page 7 of their owner's booklet spells out the non-changeable default settings. They're extremely restrictive. The Ulead CD ROM installs all kinds of extra crap that runs in the background and uses up computer resources.

Your best solution is to find software on the internet that will scan your documents while giving you a much wider range of options. I'm using Photocopier Pro by Nico Cuppen Software.

As a professional designer in the scrapbooking industry I completely rely on the dependability and color quality of this scanner for my 12x12 pages. I have never had a problem in 3 years and only now need a new one. A great value for a scanner of this size and price! Some adjusting in the contrast/brightness, even saturation is needed but I would expect to do that with any scan. That's part of the process unless you have $4-5,000 in extra cash lying around for the tip top line of scanners.

My needs are simple. I want a scanner with 11 x 17 capabilities to scan books, magazines, and other items for online auctions. From time to time, I also scan receipts, documents, newspaper clippings, etc. to convert to .pdf files for emailing or posting online. After researching the market for flat-bed scanners, I purchased the Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB scanner about four months ago. These days finding a flat-bed scanner (not intended for scanning photographs) is tough. Moreover, its nearest competitor with 11 x 17 capability (Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL) is about $1200!

I conneted the Mustek ScanExpress to my Dell Inspiron 9300 notebook (with Windows XP Professional) purchased in mid-2005. There were no compatibility or connectivity issues. I use UleadPhotoExpress (from the installation CD) to scan images onto my hard-drive. Then, I edit the images with JASC Paint Shop Pro_8. To date, I have been pleased with the quality of the scanned images and the ease of use of this Mustek scanner.

Finally a great priced scanner for all us scrapbook artists that need a larger one for scanning our completed 12x12 pages.I love being able to scan pages into my computer instead of having to use a photo stitching program (which does not work very well). The color is not the best so I scan directly into my photosuite program to adjust for the correct colors.I plan to purchase another one for my daughter who also loves scrapbooking.Of all the companys out there who make scanners--only Mustek makes this size scanner at a reasonable price.I just wish they were not so hard to find.Hoping Amazon will start carrying it again.

You can't ignore the large tabloid format for under $200. This is one great feature especially if you need to scan in rare pieces of printed music. The tabloid size is great for music and will allow you to archive the sheet music electronically.

Bad things:

1. Poor packaging. My first shipment arrived in pieces. The scanner ships in a flimsey box that does not protect it very well. When I opened it up on arrival, the glass scanner bed was in pieces. It's very brittle and the glass breaks into powder so be careful.

2. Poor quality Control. The second shipment from Amazon arrived in one piece, however the cable that drives the scanner head was popped off and the scanner didn't work.

3. Poor customer service. I tried contacting customer support serval times but got no response. I ended up taking the thing apart and fixing it myself (and it worked!). That's the up side -the scanner is so simple, that you can probably fix any problem with it yourself (except, of course, if it involved a blown circut board).

4. El Crapamundo Software Interface. It really stinks and I mean REALLY stinks. Just like in the outhouse, if you stay in there long enough, you'll get used to the stench. That's the same thing with the software. If you get used to its weird behavior, you won't notice it so much. It has a nasty memory leak in it so after you scan in about 25 pages, you'll have to quit the software to realease the memory (the software will crap out on you and say that it can't save the file).

The upside is that it has a "good enough" OCR software packaged with it. I used it once or twice on small stuff, but I wouldn't let a large project hinge upon the performance of this scanner.

So if you need a big scanner once in a while, this is a great value (mine has already paid for itself several times over). If you are going to use it for an ongoing project or need the scanner (operable) in a short period of time, depending on your project, you might want to pay the extra $ to get a more versatile and reliable machine.

HQRP Repl. Battery for Palm LifeDrive / Life Drive - Super Extended Life + Screwdriver + HQRP PDA S

HQRP Repl. Battery for Palm LifeDrive / Life Drive - Super Extended Life + Screwdriver + HQRP PDA Screen Protector
  • 1850mAh Ultra High Capacity means more long runtime; Voltage: 3.7V
  • 100% compatible with Original Battery and Charger devices
  • No Memory Effect, The battery can be recharged with out loss of capacity
  • CE and SGS-ISO-9001-2000 Approved
  • HQRP Replacement Battery + HQRP PDA Screen Protector

My LifeDrive has been in reliable, daily service for 4 years so I knew the battery's days were numbered I'd already seen less capacity between charges. When the device suddenly quit on a recent trip I was afraid it might be something more serious since it wouldn't reset even after days on the charger. Glad to find this replacement battery since Palm tries _very_ hard to make you believe it's not possible.

It -doestake a "special" tool (T-5 Torx not that special) to open the LifeDrive but it's INCLUDED with the battery!

They didn't come with instructions but I found the process documented and a nice instructional video after a 10-second Google search ("replace LifeDrive battery").

I had the replacement battery installed and my LifeDrive back on the air in 10 minutes. As a nice plus, it has improved capacity (mAh rating) over the original.

From dead to better-than-new for $10. Can't beat that.

I needed to replace my Lifedrive battery. This fit perfectly and came with the required screwdriver. It took no time at all to install. Quick shipment and great price!

I've read a lot of reviews for products purchased on Amazon.com, including for this one. I notice a lot of people seem to have unrealistic expectations about what they're buying, for the amount they're spending.

"Rude kitty" posted that "This would be a great product if you could actually change the battery." Clearly this person doesn't know how to change a battery! I had no problems changing the battery and it worked exactly as expected! "Andrew J. Thorson" posted "The LifeDrive is a piece of junk. Give up don't waste your money. You will need to buy a special tool to change the battery if you insist on wasting your money." First of all, his opinion of the LifeDrive is irrelevant to the review for a battery for the device! Secondly, the battery comes with the tool! Another person who didn't know what they were doing. Do NOT consider those two reviews when making your decision whether to buy this product!

This battery was an excellent value! I went to a local battery store and they quoted about $40 to replace the battery! Considering what I saved by ordering the battery from HQRP, and what I got for the money, consider me a repeat customer! If I need to replace the battery again, which I inevitably will since I know how the LifeDrive treats batteries, I will look here first!

What more can I really say? The battery works as expected. It powers my LifeDrive, I can use my LifeDrive again, I'm a satisfied customer. I can go days, even weeks, between charges with how I use it (my Droid is my primary PIM device). I haven't had any strange battery-related issues since installing this replacement.

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6698 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silky Silver)

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6698 15.6-Inch Touchscreen LaptopI love this laptop. Slim, yet still has a DVD drive (not so common these days). The touch screen makes clunky Windows 8 so much easier to deal with. The touch pad is very responsive, easy to right and left click. Despite being thin it feels sturdy and doesn't flex when you put pressure on it. It can do some serious yoga, the screen tilting back almost 180 degrees. Backlit keys are fancyand for a $500 laptop, it looks really classy. Everyone who sees it goes, "Oooooh".

My love for this laptop doesn't blind me to its faults, howeverit's a budget laptop with a touchscreen, and that's that. I haven't tried to run anything big on it yet, but its speed is not anything spectacular. Should be fine for average web surfing/word processing use but it's nothing flashy. I also don't like the way the keys depress. They feel a bit mushy. I find the speakers a little tinny, though you can get fair volume out of them. They're weirdly located on the bottom of the laptop. The three USB ports are all right next to each other on the front left side.

Still, I would definitely buy this again.

Pros: Fast, light, quiet, and a good picture.

Cons: I hate Windows 8, battery doesn't last as long as I'd like, there are no left/right buttons on the mouse pad, touch screen doesn't always pick up touches accurately.

I picked up this laptop during one of the specials that were offered and so far I've been pleased with it. I had an HP laptop that was on its last legs after 5 years of moderate use. Hopefully this one will be able to last me 5 years as well. Windows 8 is a pain, and this thing also comes with a bunch of bloatware. I deleted what I could but I'd have to really dig into it in order to weed out the rest. Microsoft seems to be trying to follow the footsteps of Apple while looking over to Google for additional inspiration. Unfortunately they're just moving farther from their bread and butter office software. Anyway, that's enough of my rant on them.

For your basic or entry needs of computing, this laptop seems to be near the top of the pack in its price range. I did my research and so far so good.

Have had this for two weeks now and cant brag enough since my neighbor came over and loading a program to allow me go directly to desktop on start up. Windows 8 is the worst operating system MS ever made. Very clunky, but the Acer brad really surprised me. Great item and I would purchase again.. I really like the backlight keys.

I was looking for a touch laptop with windows 8 that was easy to use with all the features I needed. I use this computer 2 or 3 times a day for about an hour each time and I have found that it is very fast for uploading or downloading programs, pictures, music, etc. I love the backlit keyboard which makes it easy to see in the evening or when inputting. I would recommend this computer to anyone looking for a great new laptop with all the bells and whistles.

Vupoint Solutions Magic Wand 2 Portable Scanner (PDS-ST441R-VP) - RED

Vupoint Solutions Magic Wand 2 Portable Scanner - REDI purchased mine as a bundle for genealogy documentation etc. Have scanned pictures, documents, etc and I'm going to say it's the BEST purchase I've made thus far in 2012! Love it!! It's also easy to use, to pack along, instructions are easy to follow. One issue is having to reset jpg or pdf if you let it shut off. It doesn't hold what you last used, but then again, maybe you don't want it too! I just need to get in the habit of checking the window instead of being so excited in finding something to scan. LOL In fact, two other family members have purchased from my recommendation. Many people that are doing genealogy research have these. If you have a family member that likes to scan (remember you can take these anywhere!) it would make a terrific Christmas present for them! And I did buy it thru Amazon and had it within a few days!! Also, excellent to scan old photos to put onto CD's, etc. Very easy.

Fantastic quality images, easy to use, and very versatile over almost any surface. I love that I can save as a JPEG or as a PDF. No need to worry about going to fast or slow, the little roller compensates. Much better product than I expected -no regrets. I showed this to other people in the office and the immediately ordered 2! The only improvement suggestion is a rechargeable battery.

Buy Vupoint Solutions Magic Wand 2 Portable Scanner (PDS-ST441R-VP) - RED Now

I got the product just 3 days after completing the on line order.

Unfortunately I couldn't test it immediately. As I live abroad, when I returned home, I tried to use the scanner for the first time only 3 weeks after receiving it. The scanner did work, as I could see the images in the computer.

But the preview mode did not work.

Amazon return procedures inform that I've to send back the product. But the cost to send it back from my country is almost the price of the scanner. And also I have waited 3 weeks to start using it.

In the end I have to keep the scanner that works only partially.

I would not recommend this scanner.

But these we so inexpensive, 3 in the package and they went on much easier. I would definietly buy them again. They were shipped quickly, I got them sooner than I expected. Definitely a good experience all around.

MediaDevil Magicscreen Screen Protector: Matte Clear (Anti-Glare) - Amazon Kindle Fire 7" (2011 & 2

MediaDevil Magicscreen Screen Protector: Matte Clear - Amazon Kindle Fire 7' -I decided to purchase this product since I bought this manufacturer's screen protectors for all of our iPhones and was (and still am) very pleased with how easy it was to apply the cover. Since the covers for the iPhones have held up so nicely, I figured it would be a pretty safe bet to get this even though there weren't any reviews for their Kindle Fire covers yet.

I received 2 screen protectors in the package, however, I only needed one. It was just as easy to apply as my iPhone covers.

First, I made sure to clean my Kindle Fire with a product called iKlear which I use to clean all my computer, tablet and phone screens. Then I used the included soft cloth that MediaDevil supplies.

After that, application is a breeze. There are a few bubbles like with most screen protectors out there, but they were easy enough to push out.

I would definitely recommend this product, but something that everyone should know is that their customer service is AMAZING. I've had nothing but positive communication with them.

I've always had an issue with screen covers so when my wife gave me these for my new Fire, I dreaded putting these on. The fact that it came with 2, like most covers for just about any device these days, made me think it would be just like any other cover.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised. The package came with a cloth to wipe down the screen and a handy little calendar that's the thickness of a credit card to help push the air bubbles out.

I wiped & wiped and made sure the screen was clean, but other than that, I didn't do any other sort of 'prepping'. I ended up having to push out a couple of bubbles, but it was so easy to do and I got the screen on with the first try. I didn't even touch the 2nd screen cover.

The matte/anti glare takes a little getting use to, and maybe it's my old eyes, but the screen didn't look quite as clear as it did before the cover, though I've gotten used to it and have zero complaints.

I give this product 2 thumbs up.

These are the BEST screen protectors I have ever used. I have them on my iPhone, iPad, and Kindle Fire. They apply with ease and most importantly, application leaves no air bubbles! I will not admit how many other protectors I tried, but they all left me with annoying air bubbles. Not so with the MediaDevil...I have a clear, perfect screen, that is protected from accidental scratching.

Purchased for my iPad and I'm extremely happy.

It was very easy to apply with no air bubbles. It's been on my iPad for over 1 year and it still looks brand new without a scratch, edge coming up or air bubbles.

I've since purchased additional ones for all my touchscreen electronics.

Excellent buy, worth every penny.

The seller delivered the product in a timely manner. The product looked as described. However, the gel skin was defective. It was not properly cut out. when it was lifted from the backing material it reached an area where it was not cut through and ripped the skin. This was not the seller's fault so I did not report it. Luckily I had purchased two skins and used the other.

Koolertron 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Air Fly Mouse/Keyboard

Koolertron 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Air Fly Mouse/KeyboardI've been a longtime HTPC user and have used the Gyration Air Music Remote for several years. The remote was finally starting to break down, so I was searching for a new alternative and tried the Gyration Air Mouse Elite, Cideko Wireless Air Keyboard, and finally found my perfect replacement in the Koolertron Air Fly Mouse & Keyboard.

First Things First:

I really liked my Gyration Air Music Remote, however, virtually ALL the buttons were essentially useless, save 3 critical buttons: the mouse Left, Right and Cursor-Float buttons -all 3 were laid out perfectly and easy to use with just my thumb. The ease with which I could wave the remote and move the cursor onscreen, coupled with the simplicity of the left, right and cursor-float buttons, made this remote invaluable to my HTPC experience. But, all the other buttons on the remote were essentially useless, and the LCD screen was much too small to serve any real function. Also, the remote was sorely lacking a scroll wheel which made surfing the web tedious and cumbersome. But there weren't any better alternatives, so I was happy to keep using my Air Music Remote until the right-click button broke, and I needed to find a replacement.

The Contenders:

Gyration Air Mouse Elite: At first I thought I would just buy a new Air Music Remote, but they've been discontinued; likely because the remote only had 3 useful buttons on it. So naturally, I decided to check out Gyration's latest iteration of their Air remotes. I tried the Gyration Air Mouse Elite for a solid month, but it just didn't work right. Gyration took 2 steps forward, 3 steps back on that one. I really wanted to like it, because I thought the onscreen keyboard and gesture commands to be a really nifty idea. Only problem was, nothing else on the remote worked properly, especially the all important cursor-float button. The cursor-float button was positioned underneath the remote, like a trigger. Not a bad idea, if only it would function properly. All too often, I'd have to click the trigger repeatedly, just to get it to register. Like the Air Music Remote, if you click and hold the cursor-float button, you can move the cursor around the screen, and then just let go to stop. If you want a free-flow cursor, just click the cursor-float button twice, and you can wave the cursor around the screen freely, without having to hold down the button. This is a crucial feature of any air mouse, and the Gyration Air Mouse Elite failed miserably in this regard. Single clicks were often registered as double, and I'd literally have to pull the trigger on the cursor-float button dozens of times to get it to disengage. With all due respect, it was like Katherine Hepburn trying to use that remote; the cursor would jitter wildly around the screen, and was a constant nuisance. The remote itself was designed as a table top mouse first, and a hand-held remote second. It's almost as if Gyration completely abandoned their revolutionary air mouse and it was more of an afterthought in this design. As a mouse, the Elite worked fine on a desk top, however, ergonomically it functioned horribly when hand-held. It was uncomfortable to hold, and unnatural to reach any of the buttons that needed to be used in conjunction. After using it for just over a month, Amazon agreed to issue me a refund, even though I was just outside of their return policy. Thank You, Amazon! What a relief it was to finally get rid of that piece of junk.

Cideko Wireless Air Keyboard: This was my next contender, but the remote has one critical flaw -the cursor-float button requires 2 hands to operate, making it needlessly tedious. I liked the idea of having a small keyboard right on the remote, but the cursor-float button is one that gets used a lot. So the poor design made me quickly reject this contender.

*Fanfare* ...Ta-Dah!

Enter The Koolertron Air Fly Mouse & Keyboard:

The first thing I noticed about the Koolertron Air Fly Mouse, is it had the exact same mouse left/right and cursor-float buttons as my old Gyration Air Music Remote. The next striking feature, was that it also doubled as a hand-held keyboard. And on top of that, it was half the price of that terrible Gyration Elite! I found a video for the Koolertron remote on YouTube, was instantly sold, and ordered off Amazon right away. When the remote arrived, I was very pleased that it functioned much like my old Air Music Remote, only this iteration had the benefit of a full keyboard as well. I instantly took to the remote, and it's been working perfectly for me right out of the box. Gyration could learn a thing or two about air remotes from Koolertron. This remote is comfortable in the hand, easy to use with just my thumbs, whether I'm just using the mouse buttons, or if I turn it sideways, and start typing with the keyboard. Gold Stars all the way around!

Who Needs A Scroll Wheel?

About the only thing I really liked on the Gyration Elite was the scroll wheel. It made surfing the web much more convenient when scrolling down long pages. However, like any scroll wheel, it was lacking in precision, and I often found it scrolling either too much or too little, and changing the settings in the Control Panel did little to help. On the flipside, Koolertron doesn't have a scroll wheel, which concerned me at first. But I soon learned that it has something waaaay better: Page Up and Page Down buttons, and also 4 arrow buttons. !! These buttons are far superior than any pesky scroll wheel. When I'm using my laptop, my mouse's scroll wheel gets a lot of use, however, when you're talking HTPC, Page Up/Down and Arrow buttons are far superior and faster to use. I can scroll down documents and web pages with speed and precision, like never before. Hold down any of those buttons, and it moves through pages at lightning speed. It's much easier than moving the cursor to the scroll bar, and then double-clicking the cursor-float button to drag the scroll bar up and down. This would be the advantage of Koolertron having a full keyboard on their remote.

Function & Media Keys:

The Gyration Elite had 4 buttons on the center of the mouse, 3 of which could be custom programmed; this would have been useful, if the rest of the mouse wasn't so tragic. By contrast, the Koolertron has a full keyboard with all 12 function keys across the top, and most of them double as media keys for email, music control, mute and volume control. Using the keyboard is a lot like typing a text message on your SmartPhone. The keys are soft to the touch, yet responsive and easy to use. I get NO skipped letters at all while typing, which even my full size wireless keyboard can't boast. It does take a bit of getting used to, because the keyboard is split in the center, where the mouse keys are. But I've taken to it quite quickly; and know that it will be indispensable.

Wireless Range:

The Koolertron has flawless wireless connectivity; I get no drop-outs or signal interruptions of any kind. And the USB transmitter is very tiny; you could easily plug it in to a laptop and just leave it there, even during transport, because it is so small. Perfect! On the flipside, the Gyration Elite, which costs twice as much, had constant signal interruptions, compounding the remote's already cumbersome operation; abysmal by comparison to Koolertron.

No Frills Packaging:

Clearly Koolertron came direct from China, which is fine with me. The packaging is more like Amazon's Frustration Free; just a plain box with the remote inside. It does come with batteries, which is a huge bonus, that a lot of companies have decided to scrimp on. The instructions are just a one page photocopy, but then there's really nothing complicated about using this remote. The USB transmitter is smartly housed inside the battery compartment, where it can easily be removed and plugged into your computer, or stored for travel. The Gyration Elite was rechargeable, and held a charge for about a week. However, it was a little quirky sometimes when placing it on the charging stand, and didn't always kick in and start charging without being coaxed.

No-Brainer Set-up:

For Koolertron, just plug in the USB transmitter and the drivers install automatically, and you're good to go. For Gyration Elite, you also needed to install their software, so that you could program the gesture functions; it was a nice gimmick that rarely worked properly.

Good Construction:

I've read other reviews that have complained about the "cheap plastic feel" used on the Koolertron remote. Personally that has not been my experience. The remote has a high gloss black finish, that looks like glossy airbrushed paint. Thankfully, there's no industrial smells associated with that. Maybe Koolertron took the other reviews to heart, and refinished the plastic housing for this remote. To me, it feels great in the hand, well balanced and comfortable to hold and use. The keys are cushiony rubber that feel good to the touch, and the remote does not feel cheap to me at all. By contrast, the Gyration Elite felt cumbersome in the hand, because it was designed as a desktop remote first, and it seems how it functioned while held in the hand was something Gyration didn't even bother to consider.

Shipping:

For some reason, there's been some talk about the Koolertron remote taking 4-6 weeks to ship. Mine shipped direct from Amazon, with the same delivery time as any of their products.

Bottom Line:

Sure, the Gyration Elite had a more polished presentation, but what good is that, if it doesn't work right? Form definitely didn't follow function. By contrast, Koolertron may not have all the slick packaging frills, but guess what? It works flawlessly. I love my Koolertron remote so much, I almost want to buy a second one, so I'm never without it. But I fully expect it to last me many years. And I'm quite happy that I found such a great alternative to my old Gyration Air Music Remote. Take notice, Gyration, Koolertron has kicked your butt with their Air Fly Mouse/Keyboard!

This is truly an exceptional product.

I had been looking at how to stick it to the cable company for some time by hooking my computer to my TV but encountered the inconvenience of having to get up all the time or have a wireless mouse & keyboard sitting on the coffee table. I searched high and low and low and behold I found this product. I was skeptical at 1st because there were no reviews anywhere for this product but it was just what I was looking for so I gave it a chance.

I was not disappointed. This thing works just as described and because it uses motion sense tech instead of reading positioning like a WII remote it's not as sensitive and jerky. It looks great and with windows 7 it was completely plug and play. Looks just like a remote. It does take some getting used to but I was off and running in no time. Highly recommend this product.

I bought this because it had some rave reviews and there is certainly a lot of potential with this device. You press on a button and the mouse pointer becomes active. As you move the remote like a pointer the mouse pointer moves with it. Once you let up on the button the mouse pointer freezes. So far so go. What hurts this device is the feel and sensitivity of the plastic and the buttons. The keyboard routinely misses key presses. Since I can't touch type on such a small device, I have to constantly look at the screen to see if the button press took and back at the keyboard to find the next key. Awkkkk Ward! Don't even bring up the concept of clicking and dragging on something to highlight or drag and drop...practically impossible.

I use this mini-keyboard remote for my HTPC and at the barest level it works...but the cost is too high for the feel and frankly I don't think it would hold up to much use. We'll see.

Pros: super easy to set up. Novel pointing mechanism for wireless mouse. Full QWERTY keyboard.

Cons: super cheap feel in your hand, poor quality buttons that often don't register, too expensive for functionality.

The mouse part creeps up the screen and after a while l got tired of fighting it and went back to the regular mouse and keyboard. .l probably got a bad one but by the time I ship it back I will have paid more than the premium device. That's what I get for being nickel pinching cheap-skate

So I got an Android stick PC to plug into my TV, and needed this to interact with it. The one good thing about this keyboard/mouse combo was that it worked without any hassle no drivers, no issues, nothing. Plug in and go.

The problem is that you need direct line of sight between the USB dongle and the remote for it to receive. Also, the sensitivity of the motion sensor can be really flaky and just lose alignment. I get that people like the idea of an air mouse but this really needs a built-in adjustable sensitivity or method of calibration that works. Also, the top part of the remote is the transmitter, so if you turn this sideways to use it as a keyboard, it's useless.

I bought on Amazon and am returning it this thing doesn't nearly work as well as advertised. Also, three THREE AAA batteries are required. Not USB rechargeable, not worth your time and money.

iConcepts IR Keyboard

iConcepts IR KeyboardWhat a piece of crap. This item is priced ~50% less than competitors now I know why. The item simply would not communicate with my iPaq 4355. I tried every angle possible to get the keyboard to communicate with the PDA. Don't waste your money on this item.

I was looking for a keyboard to go with the Palm TX I recently purchased and had considered several different units. What steered me to the iConcepts was the price, as it was marked for quick sale. As the keyboard is compatible with Palm Tungsten devices, I was pretty sure it would work with my TX. It does. Wonderfully, after some tweaks.

At first, the keyboard would work intermittantly, which was a frustrating experience. After slightly bending ( up, the bottom contacts; in, the side contacts) the button battery contacts and sandwiching a spacer between the positive terminal and the battery cover, the iConcepts keyboard has communicated reliably with my TX. This includes both portrait and landscape modes and upside down (IR arm @ 8:00PM position).

I have lightly lubricated the keyboard slide mechanism and rotating IR arm with silicone dry spray. All pieces slide smoothly and this also takes some rotational pressure off of the PDA stand while rotating the IR arm to the correct position for the PDAs IR eye.

Keys are slightly small for my large fingers, the three piece space key(s) takes a bit to get accustomed to. The placement of the right hand "Shift" key is to the right of the "Up Arrow, Page Up, Scroll" key and I find myself moving up a line rather than capitalizing.

The "Hot Buttons" on top and use of the function key in conjunction with "dual action" keys, allow navigation around the PDA screen without the use of the stylus. The stylus can be stowed in a hole located in the upper right hand corner of the case when needed.

The addition, the included Palm OS 3.0 ~ 4.0 driver allows the use of the keyboard with my Handspring Visor.

Overall, I am quite happy with the iConcepts keyboard after fine tuning.

Acer Aspire V3-731-4649 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

Acer Aspire V3-731-4649 17.3-Inch LaptopI only owned Personal PC's until I purchased a Acer 11 inch "One" netbook for traveling and I was amazed at the picture quality and tthe prihe nice feel and the keyboard especially at that price. Lately my wife needed a laptop and so I decided on Acer again since I was so happy with the quality of my last Acer product. I got this for cheaper than most 15.6 computers cost without compromising any features. It is very fast, it is a breeze to set up, it has a lot of hard drive space, it has a full size keyboard with number keys on the right side. I'm glad I got the 17.3 screen mainly because if I want to stream anything you have a nice size picture and speaking of that the image quality is outstanding on this machine. The only thing I don't like about this laptop is the gloss black finish, be prepared to clean off fingerprints all of the time. That's the only thing I can find fault with but everything else about it I love.

i have been shopping for a new computer for a wile waiting for the right deal to come along, here it is .acer has put everything [but one of intels new i-chip's]that you could ever want packed into a 17'' large, beautiful screened laptop at any price and this one is only $429.

-what it's not:--a gamer lacking newer i-3,5,7 and has integrated video.no solid state hard drive,no blue-ray,not a touch screen.

-what it is: --quick and responsive

--connection's are endless -I've connected wired and wireless printers, media server, tablet, plasma

tv,wireless mouse,Bluetooth speaker and still counting with out any problems,

--light for it's size

--the screen wow i watch a lot of movie's,tv,and play some games they all look great.

-the keyboard is responsive and the key's look awesome surrounded by brushed aluminum.

There are a couple of not so stellar feature's.the sound quality is not great [I've never really been impressed with laptop sound anyway] and the glossy finish, wile it's beautiful only last's until you touch it. also the touchpad's a little touchy[I use an external mouse] .

Now about windows 8, the jury is still out.fancy widgets and app's.I downloaded mozzilafirefox and found the more familiar os hidden right behind.still learning how to use but I see it's potential.

I love this computer,I love the price.

bought this laptop after my hp g72 went dead, and i must say it was a great buy. windows 8 is good but takes getting used to, the shipping was great as usual from amazon. it worked great after the initial out of box setup. connected to my wifi easily and removing the bloatware was the same

A few glitches . . . . . Touch pad was a problem and had to download a new driver (an older driver than one on computer). At least I can type now without my cursor jumping all over the page! My touch pad is still not operating like i think it should. Sometimes I have to click numerous times to make it activate.

When I opened my computer for the first time, one of the keys was loose. i was successful in attaching it back, but then the other day, a different key popped off. it wasn't so easy to reattach. I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.

Also, The shiny black finish is not something I would ever consider again. It shows fingerprints and smudges really bad. The buff grey that I had before was so much better.

This is my 2nd Acer and If this one holds up like the last one, it will be great.

Want Acer Aspire V3-731-4649 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black) Discount?

The Acer laptop met all my expectations. The screen is very large and extremely clear and I liked the built-in wireless Wi-FI connectivity. I was totally unfamiliar with Windows 8, so that took some time to research on the web, but I found several sites that provided step-by-step instructions on how to use and revise the appearance and location for the apps on the menu screen. I've had the computer for two weeks and am very satisfied with everything. Even the Acer support line was very responsive. I have no regrets about this purchase.

MOFI Kangaroo Pouch Case for Nokia E7, GREEN

MOFI Kangaroo Pouch Case for Nokia E7, GREENI got this for my Nexus phone (original). It works great, and looks like a small muppet in my pocket. I'm considering glueing googly eyes on it.

BTW, even though the seller is in the UK, I got my MOFI in California in about a week.

rooCASE Netbook, iPad Carrying Case Deluxe Bag for 10,11.6 Inches - Black

rooCASE Netbook, iPad Carrying Case Deluxe Bag for 10,11.6 Inches - BlackSo many pockets that are well placed. The outside front has a medium sized zipper pocket that rests on a bigger zipper pocket. The back has a big zipper pocket. Then there's the main zipper pocket. Inside, there's two spaces. One is just a big pocket space, and then the other is a big space with a velcro strap that can snuggly secure something in that space. There's also a small zipper pocket on the back of the inside.

I have the new hp Dm1z. It's an 11.6 inch netbook and it fits perfectly in the pocket without the strap. It's a little too tight for the one with the strap, but that doesn't matter because it fits snuggly already, but not to the point of where it starts pushing on the outer zipper. The strap pocket would probably be great for smaller 11 inch and 10 inch netbooks. I use the strap pocket to secure my kindle which also has the kindle cover. Then, on the big pocket in the front I can easily fit my external samsung dvd burner. After all this, the case barely bulges at all. I have yet to put in my netbook charger, but I know it will fit. It will make it bulge a little though.

The point is that I believe this is ten times more useful to you than buying a basic netbook sleeve. You can carry much more things in it, it provides more protection, and it still weighs barely anything. It will look nearly as sleek as a netbook sleeve if you just want to carry your netbook, or you can load with an assortment of supplies. It looks very professional with nice quality to match. Someone said the zippers were flimsy; I don't find that to be the case.

Not much else to say. I've checked numerous stores for cases. All I see are sleeves for netbooks or cases that are too big. This is a nice price for an excellent case.

I needed a travel case that would hold an iPad in it's Apple case, the Apple wireless keyboard and all iPad accessories. I took a chance on this case and found that it is perfect for all I needed. There is plenty of room and protection for all of that and there is extra room besides.

Micro SD Adapter

Micro SD AdapterPurchased this when I lost the one that came with my phone. At first my laptop didn't recognize it, but then I realized that the switch on the side was in the locked position. Once I took care of that it was smooth sailing from there. No problems since. Transfer rate's a little slow, but it's about the same as a regular SD card as well as my old micro SD adapter, so it's just wishful thinking and shouldn't be counted against this one.

Maybe I don't know how to use these adapters. I have various micro SDs and likewise I have various brands of Mico SD card adapters. This even includes a new one I recieved that adapts the micro to USB. Very cool.

Now, I bought 10 of these adapters. I tried 3 micro SD cards in each one. I tried them in the lock position, the unlock position and even in desperation, half way between. Not one of these adapters worked. Later, I tested my micro SDs in my other adapters and all combinations worked. Unless I did something wrong, these adapters area a failure.

I needed a replacement adapter and this one will suffice. It has a write protection switch on the side which can be annoying at times. I find that it doesn't read the micro sd card unless you firmly place it in the slot. Aside from minor annoyances, this is more than adequate for my needs and you definitely can't go wrong with the price!

Works to convert the micro SD cards to full SD size. Not sure what else to add to a review... wish they came in multiple colors so I could color code my cards??? Sure.
