This is an excellent radio, great reception and distance coverage. Battery life is excellent as well, you won't go wrong with this radio. This particular product did not come with the AA battery case, but they can be purchased in several places.

This radio is by far the best radio in it's class for the money. I have purchased 6 over the past year and will continue to use them on my various vessels.

Features that are key:

Squelch can be set in the keypad, which avoids having a knob that you can accidentally knock down with your hip (and thus not hear radio calls).

Strong this is not a flimsy wimpy $50 handheld. The antenna is flexible and won't break if you hook it on to something. The case is strong, and it will easily resist being dropped. Obviously you can't throw it against the wall, but of you drop one of those $50 Midland jobs, chances are it's garbage.

All the other normal features are there, but you can't get a better radio on the whole for the money than this one.

I recently purchased this radio and have not tried all the features yet but my initial impression is that it seems to be a very good radio for what it is designed for. The feel is very solid. The interface is pretty intuitive. The reception and sound quality are very good. Battery life seems to be as advertised. I have not gotten it wet yet so can't speak to the waterproof characteristics.

Toshiba Thrive State of the Art Dual-Tip Aluminum Stylus Pen

Only giving this product two stars because I'm not really happy at the fact that the whole reason I bought this product was for the pointy pen end, and it doesn't work. I bought this for my husband to use on his tab and upon receiving it, the pointy end isn't recognized by his tab, even with the touch sensetivity turned to 100%. The rubber end works perfectly but I bought this primarily for the pointy end. A bit disappointing, and not with the price in my opinion.

I wasn't sure whether I would really need this for use with my Toshiba Thrive, but found that in places where text is tiny, it makes selection easier by not making you zoom in just to select a link. The stylus is solidly built and the rubberized end keeps it from damaging the screen through repeated use. It is also handy for apps that allow coarse freehand writing or drawing on the screen. The biggest plus is that it keeps your fingers off of the screen, which is very prone to finger prints and smudges. It has turned out to be a very handy tool to use with my tablet and would suggest getting one to anyone with a tablet.

Update: Only the blunt end seems to have effect, the pointy end won't work with the apps I have. However, the blunt end is sufficient for what I do.

I really like this product, but finding replacement batteries is a pain in the but. This product worked just great until the batteries went dead. I bought new batteries the same size, but the new ones did not work in this stylus. I ended up using one original battery, and two new ones to get the lights to work again. I've used the stylus consistently for over six months and its still in good shape. I do not plan buying another one.

I'm giving this item a fairly poor review because it doesn't match the picture. I ordered this because the pictured item is a form fitted case and what I got is the expandable side version of the OEM holster (it's basically an open side holster with stretchy fabric at the sides). It's a fairly sturdy holster as far as that goes, but it's not what I thought I was buying, which I've had before and liked a whole lot better.

Pros: OEM made, leather (?) with contrast stitching, supports magnet sleep, sturdy swivel belt

Cons: belt clip is not removable, bulky when worn on the belt (and no other way to carry it)

Toshiba e355 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003

This was my first PDA purchase and after much soul searching I settled for the Windows Mobile PC platform. I am certain that I made the right choice despite the comments by those who believe that Windows Mobile has a long way to go aginst Palm OS.

The choice fell between Toshiba e355 and iPaq 1935 both selling for $ 199.00. I opted for Toshiba e355 since iPaq was offering a measly 90 day warranty! Granted iPaq 1935 is perhaps more compact and smaller than Toshiba e355 but the performance of Toshiba rocks and I have no regrets. Both my PDA and Windows Mobile 2003 have worked flawlessly and has been very stable till now!

I do not know why everyone is complaining of absence of CF card slot when price differential between CF card and SD card has narrowed considerably. I got a SanDisk 256 Mb SD card for 59.00 after rebates only slightly more expensive compared to comparable CF Cards!

What can I say about Toshiba e355? Performance is impeccable. Very stable and so far reliable. I have added a few software, FlexWallet and ACDSee Mobile and both work flawlessly! I have transferred my address book from Outlook and few other data including several photo images from my desktop using Active Sync and everything is working well.

The only complaint I have is about the non removable battery. However I am fairly certain that in about three years time, I will be upgrading this PDA and I am not overly concerned about the battery replacement issue!

I have no hesitation in recommending Toshiba e355 to those who are looking for a base level PDA but do not intend to carry it in their shirt pockets (iPaq 1935 is more appropriate!)

I am a high school teacher. I wanted something to take notes on and to remind me when homework was due. I searched far and wide reading review after review. I got alot more than that with the e355. I have been using it for about 3.5 months now.

I'll just list the Pros and Cons becasue i could go on all day!

Pros:

1. Great speed.

2. Works right out of the box.

3. Excellent battery life (3.5 to 4hrs continuous running)

4. Crisp display. (especially for video playback)

5. Smooth buttons that feel pretty nice on your fingers.

6. Good price for the quality you get

7. The speakers on this player play audio in the best way i have heard for a small speaker unit. You would not believe that a pda could do so well with sound. It plays my mp3s, wma, anything and don't forget the videos.

8. It has a SD card slot so you can expand the memory at any time. the SD card slot has a dummy card that protects it from being damaged by dust or other particles.

9. Quick charge time. Good size storage built in, 64mb.

10. Windows Mobile 2003 is much much much more stable than its predeccessor.

11. It's much much much thinner than many other pda's i have reviewed.

12. It's much more resiliant to 'falls to the floor' than the Dell or Ipaqs for example. I'm a teacher. I can guarantee you...running around the class will lead to a fall on the ground. It has a metallic covering. (no shaking inside!)

Cons.

1. Sometimes if you use up close to 90% of the memory, it stalls.

2. The 'record audio' button is placed near the top so sometimes taking it out you may mistakedly begin recording. (this can be disabled though so it is not really a con)

3. It does not include the ability to 'go wireless' for internet. You can still access the internet though but you need to be connected to your computer. I did not need wireless internet just yet. When it does become ubiquitous...maybe then i'll go for something else.

4. The battery is not removeable. By the time this actually becomes a problem I'll be getting a new pda..about 2 to 3 years from now.

THis is an excellent PDA is you do not need wireless internet access right away.

I would recommend it with all authority people out there.

Pros :

5. Almost weightless

Cons:

1. Does not have removable battery.

2. Does not have CF card slot.

3. Not a good cover case.

Ok, like anything it depends on your needs. But, for my needs, the E355 meets and exceeds my needs. No need to rate it significantly lower because it doesn't have a removable battery or because it only has a SD slot and no CF. Instead, I realized this before I bought it, considered these features along with the price which was ... cheaper here, and decided it was worth it.

I've had the E355 for about 3 weeks and had recently purchased a used Cassiopeia E-125 and was very happy with that purchase as well. The reason I upgraded was because a friend of mine wanted the E-125 at the price I purchased it for and I was convinced that for ... more, I could get a faster PPC with more memory, smaller size, and upgraded OS.

Now, the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is you get what you pay for. For the money, this is the best deal if you consider the reasons I mentioned previously. If I was getting a removable battery and a CF slot in addition to the SD slot, and was paying the same price, I'd rate it 5 stars. But, I'm not getting that.

On a message board, I seen someone say that it would better to purchase the Dell Axim X5 (Basic) for the same price. But, the X5 Basic only has 32MB of RAM. You would need to purchase the more expensive X5 Advanced to get the same amount of RAM. Not to mention at the time, X5 users were upset about the slow speed of their OS or processors and Dell is now sending out CDs with a fix.

I purchased this case for my wife's Dell Venue Pro and the case fits extremely well and looks awesome. It's a very premium fit and finish. Unfortunately, after I gave the phone and case to my wife she started complaining about how difficult to use the phone was with the case on it. The flap gets in the way all the time and dangles and annoys her which in turn meant that she annoyed me! I *really* wanted to like everything about this case but I have to say that overall it fails because it is troublesome to use and doesn't fully protect the phone like I would expect. In addition, because of the thickness of the case and how close it is to the micro usb port, the charger rarely stayed in properly.

The bottom line is that I think the idea was great and the materiels are definately premium, but it becomes difficult to recommend this case because of the negatives.

LevelOne WCS-2030 11g Wireless-G IP Network Camera

I have had this camera for six weeks. It works when hardwired. I have had several emails from Ly Seang, the company trouble shooter. His replies are short, not specifically responsive to my clearly stated issues AND his replies have not helped. I have learned that this product cannot be managed except on some XP machines and it cannot be viewed except by Internet Explorer on some machines set up with restrictions. Therefore it is NOT a true IP Camera. I would have given it NO STARS if that had been an option.

I have 3 of these cameras (first one over 3 years old, and still working) I use these around the house (wired). I not have tested the wireless feature. I have used xp32, xp64, vista, and windows 7 x64 over the last 3 years and all os'es have worked with the cameras. I initially use the installation program on a machine to configure the cameras (I assign a static IP so I can find them with my browser. But mostly I use the included IP Cam Secure software to monitor all 3 at one time from one interface. This seems to work fairly well. They also have a microphone for picking up sound (no speaker in camera, so you can only hear what is going on). Picture quality is good in rooms with daylight. Not for dark areas. I can highly recommend this camera.

Small Fan & Mini-Air Conditioner: The Original Handy Cooler in Blue

Since there are controversial discussions if the handy cooler REALLY works, here's my video review of my take on this product. Verdict is, the handy cooler does work and it's a nicely implemented product. The weather here at Palm Springs is great for swamp coolers like this and it gives a nice kick if you freeze the filter. (Sorry about the background construction noise and the wind noise from handy cooler!)

I've had the handy cooler for just over a year now and so far I really like it. It's been lying under my bed for the whole winter, but now the heat is back and I've brought it back in action.

What I liked:

The design. Looks good. Feels good. I like the swivel vent head too.

Portability. I bring it around to classes, work and around home.

Performance. Cools like a charm.

Size and weight.

What I would like to see improved:

Rechargeable lithium battery option. The unit is not capable of recharging batteries. However, I recommend getting 4 rechargeable batteries, and charge them with battery docks. It'll cost you $40+ but will save you on the long run.

Longer cooling duration.

a longer USB cord!

It's a nice little fan with a twist, but be sure to stock up on batteries.

I'm in the Navy, therefore I sleep in a tiny, tiny, often hot space with no air circulation. I ordered this because there is only so much night-sweat and dude-funk one can take in this sort of environment. It just came in the other day, but it appears sufficient to cool a cramped, curtained, coffin-like enclosure! The noise at high-speed is a total non-issue; trust me, the engines drown it out completely. If you're ordering one of these for your sailor, I recommend the pink one. The guys who've seen it all want one, but nobody is going to steal something in pink.

Honestly, I wish it were less expensive, but the build quality is solid enough that I think it'll survive until I get back, and that's really all that counts.

Yes, this little puppy really does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.

Ahhhhhh...

The Handy Cooler appears to be well built. The fan is very quiet. You can put the unit on a desk or tabletop, and it will blow a nice stream of cool air at you.

I like the way you can rotate the air head ninety degrees, giving you greater flexibility in positioning the unit. I also like the little water bottle they give you, which holds two "recharges". Yes, they have figured out how much water you can add to keep cool without water dribbling from the unit. They figure you can go from thirty minutes to three hours on a "full" sponge, depending on your environment.

I have told the company that makes the Handy Cooler that they need to introduce a shoulder holster, so you can wear it around and use it hands-free. In the meantime, I am going to see if I can rig up some sort of shoulder sling or something that will suit this purpose.

At any rate, if you hate the heat, the Handy Cooler is the real deal -cool relief to go. HIGHLY recommended.

My only gripe, as another customer commented, is the high UPS shipping charge. A lower-cost USPS shipping option would be welcome...

And yes, I use NiMH rechargeable batteries, and they last for hours on a charge. Ahhhh...

We knew we were in trouble bringing an infant to Disney World and Miami Beach. We knew we had to keep her cool in the Florida heat or our vacation was over.

We bought x2 baby kits (mesh bag holder, flexible tube, & HCs). We used two handy coolers and baby kits the first day at DW but the batteries lasted for 5 hours on the first day and we only had x8(ENELOOPs). So we decided to run only one at a time and swap out batteries for a total of 10 hours run time on high. The sponge is a hassle to remove out of the mesh bag and wet it and then put back while constantly moving with our pack. With the heat the sponge dries in less than an hour. So we added a Frozen water bottle on top of the sponge that constantly wets the sponge and it melts and gives off really cold air from the melting bottle. When its melted we just drink it and replace it with a new frozen one from the ice cooler. This set up worked really great for out two week trip in Disney World and South Florida. Amazing product!

I bought this mini air conditioner for my office. The most important point was that it ran on USB so I could plug it on my computer and set it aside without worrying about batteries. I loved it so much I bought another one for my kids, and I got the home adapter with it. The air conditioner works better with the adapter it provides alot more airflow and cools better.

PROS: Very attractive design, nicely constructed, and feels very solid. The cooling performance is great for a small hand held unit like this, however not like the air conditioning you get from a car a/c... but maybe 70%. It uses water to cool the air like an evaporative air cooler. The hand strap design is really cool you hold the handy cooler like a handy cam. I like the analog speed control so you can adjust the level cooling you want. Works on batteries but I've only tried it once and it works just the same. You can buy extra filters to use different aromatherapy oils for each filter.

CONS: The vent of the fan isn't very big so don't rely on it to circulate air. To feel the cool air, you will pretty much have to position the vents towards yourself. You need to put water into the filter every 2 hours, but it will still work if you don't just without the cool air effect.

Otherwise, a great little mini air conditioner... that runs on batteries!

Gateway ZX6980-UR308 All-in-One Touch Desktop PC

As my title says, I'm absolutely amazed at this computer. I had been watching these at BestBuy (the 500GB model) when they had them for $749. I would go into the store weekly and stare, swipe and play with it. Then I saw online, they had this model for $799. Again, being a procrastinator I didn't take the leap. Well, when I finally decided to, this model was sold out online. So I decided to settle for the 500GB and could not find them anywhere in the state. I went to BB and they did a search and confirmed none were to be had.

Completely devastated, I started looking at other AIO computers but for the price, nothing could beat this Gateway. Yes I understand these are the discontinued models. But once you look at the 23" model, you can't settle for the smaller ones.

By sheer luck, I decided to check Amazon and before I knew it, I had it delivered to my house.

Set up was a breeze. It found my network, found my wireless printer and as of now, I can't kick my family off of it.

The touch screen is ridiculously sharp and crisp. The sound is great from the computer. This is exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

The only issue I've seen so far is with the wireless keyboard. I'm a fast typist so every once and awhile, it can't keep up or does some weird stuff.

This purchase is an absolute no brainer.

EDIT THE DAY AFTER:

I've noticed the keyboard acting really flaky. Double, triple and beyond on keystrokes or just not responding. It came with Duracell AAA good through 2019, so I don't know if it is a design flaw (the wireless receiver is on the back of the PC) or something else. Will wait to adjust rating downward based on other reviews if similar issues are reported.

Everything works as expected and the price was unbeatable. This item was in home and in use next day. The 23 inch touch screen is amazing with the traditional wireless mouse and keyboard available and included. Windows eight does take some getting used to. Overall a great home office desktop computer.

Basically all these computer of this type by Dell, HP and Gateway and equally good and you get what you pay for in features. This is my first Gateway for my business and I was impressed with the exterior design and appearance over the equivalent competitor's models. I really like the lighted log on the bottom of the case. Nice touch. Everything just has a higher quality look and design. My next favorite is HP and my least is Dell. Also, I might mention that Gateway had the least amount of trash-ware and Ad-Ware installed on the computer. This saves a lot of time uninstalling these to get good boot performance.

Also, the metal that they are made from is of poor quality and is very brittle, so don't tighten them too much. They do get the job done, but try to find a higher quality screw if you can afford the extra dollar.

Performance3.8/5Performance is above average with a core i3 processor and 6GB of memory. The hard drive has plenty of space as well. Boot times are relatively low, but this laptop does lack behind other laptops, such as the Acer M5.

Speakers3/5The speakers sound VERY thin and tinny. Toshiba's Harmon Kardan speakers on its Satellite Series sound far better. But they're good enough for the average listener. Bluetooth will allow you to add your own wireless speakers, which is nice.

Keyboard/Mousepad4/5Many reviewers give the keyboard a lot of smack because the keys are a bit small. But even with my large hands, I found the keyboard to be exceedingly comfortable and good for long use. It's also backlit, which makes it easy to type in dimly lit areas. The mousepad is amazing and extremely responsive-feels like it was taken right out of a $1000+ UltraBook.

Battery3/5It's average. I get around 4 hours under normal use. 3-3.5 under heavy use.

Customer Support5/5Acer's website solves every single problem that you could possibly have. It is full of updates and patches and drivers. The support team is also very helpful.

This has to be the worst laptop that I've purchased, the wifi keeps going off intermittently. Do the research online, it's a major problem and they aren't fixing this issue.

HP 4 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card L1882A-EF

I am using HP 8 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card (L1885A-EF) in my BlackBerry 8900. The card was immediately recognized by the BlackBerry, formatting went without a problem, and the card functions properly. BlackBerry sees 7.3GB of available memory on the card.

This card is exactly what I wanted.

I bought 2 8gb cards to fit in photofast memory stick pro duo adapter and pop it up in my psp, so far so good works absolutely fine off course faster than class 2.

HP's 8GB microSDHC card was one of the better buys at the time of this review, as far as price/performance/capacity is concerned. In my case, it fulfills the task assigned stores a large number of songs for the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 2 GB MP3 Player that accepts microSDHC cards. However, its relatively low data transfer speed may NOT make it a good pick if the intended use was in a camera that takes 'rapid fire' shots.

PERFORMANCE

I would like to note that I did not test the card with a camera but its stated 'Class 4' speed class, which is the equivalent of a 26x speed rating should guarantee a MINIMUM of 4MB/s more than enough when it comes to music playback.

Unlike the 'x' ratings, the speed class ratings are NOT certified by an independent body so, more or less, you will have to decide whether you trust the card's maker HP is quite a reputable brand and it so happens that I DID test the card myself. I found that I could copy 2 GB worth of songs in about 6-7 minutes. This is about 4-5MB/s for writing on the card for the first time, indicating that the Class 4/26x claim is honest. This is very good performance for a 'class 4' given that the card was inserted into an 'full' SDHC card adapter which, in turn, was inserted into a USB card reader.

Practically, if you are going to use this card in a camera, depending on the quality of the pics you are taking, you may or may not be happy with its performance. At 12 megapixels, a 100% quality JPG would produce a 2-3 MB or loarger file so, without even counting the overhead, your camera will spend about half second, possibly more to write to the card which may or may not be in line with your own expectation. For better performance, look for a higher 'class' number 133x/Class 20, for example, should support 20 MB/s or writing up to 10 12-megapixel JPG photo files per second.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES/CONCERNS

The card comes with a 'full' SDHC adapter. This is very important, especially if you need to interface with a computer. In my case, I am inserting the microSDHC into the included SDHC adapter which, in turn, goes into a USB card reader I used the one that came with the Transcend 16 GB Class 2 SDHC Flash Memory Card with USB Card Reader TS16GSDHC2-P2.

The card comes formatted as FAT32 and my Windows 7 computer was able to write to it and read from it without difficulty. If, for whatever reason, FAT32 is not what you need, you should be able to format it under Windows/Vista, Mac or Unix/Linux to whatever you may need. The MP3 player was able to read the card as formatted without any issues.

Not ALL cameras support FAT32. Older cameras may only be aware of FAT16 and can't see any card larger that 4GB. If in doubt, check with the manufacturer or maybe read your camera's reviews at Amazon.

Related to the above anyone who may have a device meant to use SD cards should be aware that SDHC may not work with it so it's better to ask the maker.

While the SDHC interface is provided, I would go for a full-size SDHC card if that's what my gadget accepted. You can use the card with the adapter but why bother. The microSDHC being so small and fragile, why risk losing it or breaking it?

RATING

This is a honestly rated Class 4 card. It works very well for me in my MP3 player but I'd look for a faster card if I needed a card for a camera or a camcorder. Class 4, as I explained, means relatively SLOW so, if blazing-fast write speed is not an issue, this is probably what you need given the price and the maker's reputation by the way, the card is manufactured in Taiwan.

For what it is, the card deserves 5 stars.

I got a pair of these. Both failed, one out of the box and the other one at a very bad time on a vacation. The second one didn't last more than 3 weeks.

Terrible quality control. I wouldn't trust it for anything important.

This card seemed to work fine for about two days and then all of the pictures stored on it were corrupted and unretrievable. I tried to access the data on the card using two different computers, two different phones and a PS3 and it was unreadable. This was all very disappointing because we lost almost all of our vacation photos. Luckily we had two cameras and the other had a reliable memory card.

it definately helps extend the battery. I rarely charge it and can go 2 days without charging. The lowest its gotten in a day and a half was 78% from 100. Thats pretty good i think

The extended battery is great. I've always used the standard batteries and this is nice to give me that extra time when I'm on the WEB or using it as a GPS. It would have received a 5 star rating, except the screen protector wasn't cut to fit my unit. I'll have to cut it down to make it fit correctly.

3M VC05W VGA Cable for PDAs

The 3M VC05W VGA cable is (so far) the only cable that I have found that will connect audio and VGA video output form a computer to my 3M MP225 pico-projector. You plug the jack into the computer's audio output. You plug the VGA connector into the VGA connector on your computer. The small flat connector plugs into the projector. (The projector's display is exactly what would be shown on a monitor connected to the VGA output except its resolution will be limited by the resolution of the projector.)

This cable transmits the signals perfectly. However, it is too short for my purposes. I want to use it with a desktop computer. The distance between the moulded plugs of the VGA connector and the connector to the projector is about 35 7/8 inches. By the time you connect to the VGA output on the back of a tower case, you don't enough slack left to place the projector as freely as you can place a typical computer monitor.

The product description states that the length of the cable is 39.8 inches and if there were longer cables available then I'd have to rate this product as 4 or 5 stars since it meets all its promises. However, I haven't found any longer cable for sale by 3M. The product information offers no standard name for the connector that goes to the projector. (It won't fit any other electronic device I have, including digital cameras, cell phone and computers. I think it may be a proprietary type.) Since this is the only cable available, I rate this product as 3 stars because its too short for some purposes. ( If you use a laptop and plan to set the projector close by, it will be satisfactory for you.)

( I think I can solve my own problem with this cable by adding a VGA to VGA extension cable. I wasn't using the audio output anyway.)
