Li-Ion Battery for Dell Axim X50 / X50vI was happy during the transation. Quick delivery and the price is low. It worked like my original one. Worth to try one!

First of all, the battery is LARGER than the original one. It's hard to put it in the place and pull it back. It seems the battery is dying after 8 month of use.

Iris USOA400 IRISPen Express 6 Pen Scanner

Iris USOA400 IRISPen Express 6 Pen ScannerI edit a small-town weekly newspaper, and in slow times, I like to have a story regarding some aspect of the town's history ready to go in as filler. So I spend quite a bit of time going through yellowed newspaper archives, and bought this toy to see if I could cut down on my retyping time. The result? Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I find you have to recalibrate every time you start scanning a different newspaper page, and that the scanner works better on pages that still have good contrast, which is to say have not become too yellowed. The good news is that I get about 95 percent accuracy on unyellowed newsprint, so it works for me then; the bad news is that the error rate greatly rises when the contrast drops, so that retyping is still faster on most of the old stuff. But, it should be noted, I'm conducting a Pen Scanner Torture Test; I find it works just fine on better quality paper, such as book and magazines. But always, always, recalibrate first.

The several versions of this product differ in the software offered, the scanning pen, apparently, is the same for all. Iris Express seemed good enough for me since I only wanted to copy information from library books.

Getting useful copy requires a steady hand, a modicum of practice and, above all else, proper settings of the scanner. Operating instructions are both obscure and sketchy, so a beginner should stay with the manufacturer's default settings until some proficiency is gained. It helped, somewhat, to download the instruction file from the ReadIris website when I was ready to create settings of my own. Those instructions are inadequate too, but better than those packaged with the pen.

Once technique is mastered, character recognition is excellent, but the output text is plain, with no formatting whatsoever. That lack is easily corrected by sending the copy to a word processor.

Everything considered, I'm glad I bought the gadget.

I bought this product with some trepidation, as other reviewers' opinions of it were all over the map. When I first started trying to use it, it didn't work at all well. My first few scans (each being one line of text) came out pretty accurate, but after that things just deteriorated fast, until before long all I could ever get was a big string of unrecognized characters, represented by tildes (~). I read the PDF manual, tried various settings, to no avail.

Then I contacted IRIS customer support, and they sent me a list of things to try, three of which actually helped quite a bit, and now I'm scanning along fairly happily.

The last thing they suggested--and the first thing I tried--helped a lot. I clicked File > Reset to Factory Settings. I've had to do that again, after I saw a deterioration in results. So I guess I'll just have to live with the default settings and Reset them every so often. Not a big problem for me, though it would be for some users.

They also said it should take 3-4 seconds to scan a 6-inch line of text. I had been scanning much faster than that. Slowing down helped.

And they said that a wavy scan is a big problem. I have found that by positioning a ruler about 3/4 inch below the line I want to scan works pretty nicely--I just run the scanner along the ruler as a guide, and it eliminates the wavy-line problem. (The thing doesn't seem to be bother if the line of text rises or falls slightly from left to right, provided it's all in a fairly straight line.)

I should mention that I suffer from a slight tremor in my hands, and so it is possible that some of my difficulties would not be experienced by someone with a steadier hand.

Bottom line: You can make this thing work if you stick with it. If, like me, you are constantly needing to scan in fragments of text, you will find it worth the trouble to overcome initial difficulties, should you experience them.

I bought the IRISpen Express in the hope that it would make the endless research projects I have for college a little less time consuming. I always found it tedious and disruptive to have to stop reading to note a phrase or quote for use in a paper. Also, it is time consuming to have to refer back to those little sticky notes when it is time to type up the paper or even to compile the research for review.

The IRISpen makes it much easier to simply sit with a book and read it as usual. When I come across a part that I want to include in a paper or even just keep on my computer for use in a blog or webpage, I simply scan the page number and the passage I want to use. Done. I have blasted through 4 library books today in the time it would have taken to work through a one or two because I dont have to stop reading to type. I set up my laptop next to me and start a heading on OneNote with the book that I am reading. That way all I have to do is scan it like a highlighter when I see something I want.

This little scanner has made life as a student much easier and less time consuming. Im also one of the most organized students now, because all my notes are digital and can easily be searched.

There are, of course, flaws with the pen; it isnt perfect at recognition so it is important to review the text periodically to fix spelling errors. It helps to calibrate it before using it every time, which thankfully takes about 5 seconds. Other than that, I have been very pleased with the IRISpen and I would recommend it to busy students or professionals who have to organize printed material for any sort of publication.

I'd like to set out a review for mac users.

1. I am a law student trying to use the scanner to consolidate information from book to print. The books I use have writing in them, over the words, and lots of highlighting and underlining.

2. I was extremely reticent to buy the pen because of the negative reviews.

3. I am using a Macbook Pro (2010) with the pen.

The bottom line is that the pen really does work when you are using it with written text. Reviews that mention otherwise (I have noticed) are mainly PC users. The pen really is helpful in getting down all of the information you want.

A. Dealing with books (exclusively with typed print)

The pen works wonderfully. It works BEST with a book on a flat surface. (I have only had problems with very thick book in the beginning chapters (where the binding is not flat on the table. It can read over yellow highlighting without a problem. It has a 60-70% success rate with underlined words. It obviously works best with clean text.

B. Mac experience

I have a feelign that the OCR engine for the mac software is somewhat different (though I could be wrong) than the PC version. The far and few between Mac users have seem to have positive experiences.

C. Realistic Expectations

In an ideal world, the pen would work perfectly... of course, it does not. But you can definitely optimize the experience to make it work best for you.

1. Somehow it depends on the light. Insufficient lighting with not allow the text to be read. Too much lighting on the other hand, seems to overwhelm the pen and writing does not get recognized (so don't hold have your friend hold a flashlight above the book... like we did last weekend). Second, the pen can recognize text REALLY quickly. But when it's underlined or highlighted, slow down. I usually do an entire line (flat, good lighting, clean text) in a quarter of a second. And it's 99% always right. I slow down on highlighted text and that seems to work well.

Lastly, I typically run into problems when I try to only get particular words from the page instead of a whole line. this might be due to my beginner level use, though.

Just realize that this technology isn't perfect, but it is pretty good. For the price, it will save you thousands of keystrokes. I just hope this review presents an objective approach that might explain some of the more negative ones. If you find any questions or issues, comment and I'll try my best to address.

New OEM Verizon Casio G'zone Ravine C751 Black Leather Fitted Case

New OEM Verizon Casio G'zone Ravine C751 Black Leather Fitted CaseIt's leather so, it's tough, but thin leather, so it doesn't add appreciable bulk.

The fit is very precious with cut-outs for the front screen, mic, temperature sensor, speaker, etc. in all the right places. (The one exception is the camera/LED flash cut-out, which can block the camera/LED a little when shifted. The hole could probably have been cut a little larger for slack.)

Thick clear plastic (vinyl?) protects the inside screen and keypad. Although it's optically transparent, I have to press the keys a little firmer now. The Ravine keypad without the plastic cover was still operable while wearing a (thin) glove but with the plastic cover it frequently registered my presses incorrectly.

The belt clip is a permanently attached part of the holster/case and will stay firmly at one of the 5 notched positions (180 degree range). The clip opening is such that it will slide easily over the thickness of pants or belt, but the opening will require a little stretching to get it over the thickness of both.) The clip itself feels like spring steel, hopefully durability won't be a long term issue (I've only used it a month at time of this writing.)

I had also considered the Ravine swivel belt clip but read that the phone is easily dislodged. I have yet to drop my Ravine off of my belt/pants with this fitted case.

pro's, the leather case fit's good.

con's, the hole's could be bigger for the camera Len's and the speaker.

the clip is low profile and it is permanent.

I purchased two phone cases (one to use and a back up for later)and I am very pleased with the quality of product, the promptness of shipment, and everything about this transaction. My husband likes this particular case because he is really hard on his phone and its covers. They are tough but nothing lasts forever. These seem to be the only covers that hold up to his needs. He is a farmer and outdoors all of the time. Thanks for a great transaction!

However, the cut-outs for the camera , speakers, and microphones are in the wrong places. It is sometimes inconvenient, but not enough to warrant a return since the phone is protected from damage.

LapWorks Handler iPad Strap & Desk Mount That Swivels And No-Grip iPad Holder With Adjustable Deskt

LapWorks Handler iPad Strap & Desk Mount That Swivels And No-Grip iPad Holder With Adjustable Desktop StandSIX ****** stars for Jose Calero, owner of Lapworks!!! I recently ordered a "Handler" for my iPad 1 on Amazon that was fulfilled by Lapworks. It arrived in two days, but, unfortunately, would not fit. I called Lapworks Customer Service, described the problem, and was awaiting a solution -adapter, refund, whatever. Within two hours I received a call from Jose Calero, the OWNER of Lapworks! He explained that manufacturing specs had changed, and -so sorry -the new "Handler" now fits iPad 2. During the conversation I told Jose that I was so "sold" on this product that I had considered sawing off the offending piece and using it anyway. Long story short, with iPad 1 versions long gone, Jose found one of their pre-production prototypes and offered it to me. Of course I ordered it, and will soon have a one-of-a-kind that no one else has. He even offered to pay my return shipping. Now THAT's living up to their slogan, "AT LAPWORKS 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' IS NOT A DEPARTMENT...IT'S AN ATTITUDE." Wow. It just doesn't get any better than that. Handler iPad Strap & Desk Mount That Swivels And No-Grip iPad Holder With Adjustable Desktop Stand

Make that 7*******! -Richard Croft

This iPad holder a pretty good, but could be better.

I have held off for a while writing this review but I really shouldn't have. I hope it is in time to help make a decision for someone.

At first I used this all the time, but as time wore on, I found myself using a keyboard/book cover thing I bought instead.

I like the idea of holding my iPad in a usable way with a strap to keep from dropping it. The materials used were good and the iPad holder itself

seems solid and easy to use.

The problem with the mount (on the iPad) is the swivel mechanism that "clips" the iPad on. It is necessarily very tight and because it swivels on it can (and did) peel away

a protective screen cover. If you rarely or never plan to remove the iPad from the mount, this should not be a problem. But if you are like me and want to remove the iPad say,

once a day, you should be aware of this. Note that I had no damage to my iPad while using this, just the screen protector.

The hand-grip is good at first and the way it connects to the base is a very good idea. But after you use the grip for a while your hand/wrist will get really, really, really sore.

This is after a LONG time, but it doesn't seem that long when you are lost in a game, surfing the web, or doing other iPad-stuff.

Plugging in the iPad while mounted is a minor problem, and if you are careful and patient should not be bothered by it.

The mount works fairly well and I think it is pretty innovative. But the base needs to be slightly heavier or the arm the iPad sits on needs to be slightly more loose (or both)

so that when tilting the pad the base doesn't move. The swivel and tilt function is pretty cool beyond that problem.

Finally, a set of instructions would be nice. It seems fairly simple once you understand how to use it, but getting to that point can cause some anxiety worrying

you might break something.

I had a long email exchange with the guy who made this, and he seems pretty nice. He has OK reasons for materials used, design, and assembly.

I certainly mean no malice if this is taken as a negative review, but I write reviews to let people know what they are getting in to as I appreciate people doing that for me.

Over-all, this was not an expensive item and was an OK value. I liked it, I will use it again, but I did not LOVE it. This is a solid 3 stars, maybe add a half star because the inventor

did his best to help me with any concerns or problems.

I just looked at the price, it is likely worth the $25 to try. As long as you are not removing and replacing it daily like I did, I don't think you will have any problems. Oh, and don't use it for hours on end or you will need an ice-pack for your arm/wrist.

I have been looking for a year since I got my Ipad for wrist wrap holder that would make it easier to hold the Ipad with my hand since I have a hand disability. Little did I expect to find a product that not only works with my hands, but also as a complete laptop accessory, which has infinite positions so I can put the Ipad on my lap, beside me and rotate so I can see it easily and on my desk to use for typing, and also in various positions to be able to easily read scripts that I have for my voice over business. It truly is a fantastic product and have already told several people about it and getting a couple for Christmas presents. I normally don't write reviews on any products I buy, but this one certainly demands that at-a-boy.

Speck EXEC-BLACK-T650 Treo 650 Executive Leather Case with Belt ClipThe outside stitching is acceptable, but in the inside there is some irregularity on the stitches.

The swivel belt clip is detachable but should be also removable, that is, the part that attaches to the belt clip should also be removable (screw) so that it fits better in the pocket when you don't want to use a belt clip. Still, it fits fairly well in my back pocket.

The treo 650 fits nicely, but sometimes it is hard to adjust the snap closure to close firmelly.

Overall, acceptable quality for this price.

I'm using this keyboard with an old Palm IIIxe. It works good. I had a little trouble at first, but had to make sure the connections were very firm. The keyboard is very small, but that is to be expected. It works for what I wanted To be able to quickly take some notes or journal entries without having to take along my expensive laptop. I used to drive all day and didn't have room to take my laptop and didn't want to risk damage on it, just for a half hour of use at lunch and maybe another 15 minutes during the day. This is much more compact and starts quickly. I should have bought it several years ago before I retired! But I couldn't resist at $5 plus $5 s/h. Definately worth the price A great value. Today I see it's only $0.49 and there are only 4 left Better hurry!

I especially like the string closure because it allows me to close the craftkeeper securely no matter what how full it is, and, as compared to buttons, it doesn't make indentations in paper if you stack craftkeepers like I do.

This case adds very little thickness to the iPad2. The fit is perfect, the magnetic switch works well, and the cover provides a useful horizontal tilting stand when open. This cover works perfectly with my iPad 2. I like that it is an integrated front and back cover. The Apple Smart Cover only protects the front, and the magnetic attachment gets stuck to things. The rooCASE cover has a magnetic closure that works with the iPad 2 cover open/close detection. My only complaint was the cover feels a bit on the cheap side. Other than that, it does a great job of protecting my investment, and I'm no longer worried about getting scratches/etc. on the back.

I liked the fact that the roocase is leather, it provides very good protection for your IPad. The only thing that I'm not crazy about, is when the cover is closed, it doesn't close tight enough to make the screen shut off automatically, I would have to turn the iPad off after I closed the cover. If not the IPad would stay on until I turned it off. Oh and the description says that this is the ultra slim Roocase, but it's not! This one is just the regular roocase because, when I ordered the ultra slim, it was going to be on back order for two weeks so they offered me this regular one instead.

The device fit securely and is well protected. There are openings for the charger and buttons and the cover is held closed by a magnetic strip inside of the case. All and all a very nice case for $12...

I guess you get what you pay for. I stuffed the Kindle Fire into it and practically had to use all my strength to get it in place so the flap would close. There is another flap that holds it in place on the bottom, but if I put that into the space behind the Kindle, the cover does not close either. Bad choice for a case cover. If I had to do it over again, I would spend more money and get one that is actually made for the Kindle Fire.

Sony CLIE PEGA-KB100 Compact Keyboard

Sony CLIE PEGA-KB100 Compact KeyboardAs a user of the KB-11 keyboard I looked forward to using the KB-100. I was very pleased with the contruction and the size but less so with the decreased functionality. Where I could use keyboard commands almost exclusively on the KB-11 I now have to use the stylus for "OK", "Done", "Cancel", and almost every other command. I am sure that Sony will eventually offer an updated driver that will permit combination keys to activate these commends but in the meantime I am forced to keep a stylus in hand.

The other negative factor is the location of the shift key but we humans will adapt to that.

The clie keyboard with my nx60 (or my nx70 and my sj22) really rounds out the product. The keyboard is of excellent quality and feel. With the keyboard I truly have a top notch laptop replacement. Clies are great but such accessories put them over the top!!

Buy Sony CLIE PEGA-KB100 Compact Keyboard Now

Previously, I used the Palm portable keyboard for the Palm III and V handhelds. I really liked the feel of those keyboards, but I moved on when I outgrew my older PDA. I travel a lot, and I avoid carrying a laptop whenever possible; so, a portable PDA keyboard is essential for my journeys. After upgrading to a Sony Clie TG-50 handheld, I bought the KB-100 keyboard to compliment it. So, you ask, how did the two keyboards stack up? Well, I have to give the nod to the Palm keyboard for keyboard size. The Palm's size is equivalent to a laptop keyboard, while the Sony's, in spite of being advertised as "full size," is in fact a bit smaller. I suspect for most folks that wouldn't be a major concern, but I have large hands, and I've found that my typing speed has slowed somewhat as compared to the Palm unit. In terms of deploying the keyboard, the Sony wins hands down--it's simpler and faster, with fewer moving parts. Another plus is that the Sony keyboard will also charge your handheld while docked. One more minus: the shift key on the right side of the Sony is quite small, and slowed down my typing speed until I grew used to it. To sum up, the Sony is a well-designed portable keyboard that makes some compromises in keyboard layout, but is nonetheless quite a useful product. My recommendation is that if you have big hands and plan to write the great American novel on your PDA, you'll likely be happier with a Palm PDA/keyboard setup. If, however, you mainly plan to work on shorter documents, the Sony should get the nod.

Want Sony CLIE PEGA-KB100 Compact Keyboard Discount?

This keyboard is a joy to type, to look, to work with and to carry in its soft dedicated pouch. Every single piece that comprises it, screams about the great quality with which it was made. Takes you back to a time when Sony used to design and produce desirable products, not unlike those Apple makes these days.

Functionally speaking, this keyboard doubles as charging station (not able to hotsync, thou) and a stand for your Clié. Getting said device seated onto the keyboard is a bit tricky but once it is there, everything works pretty smoothly. The Clie turns on automatically and you can choose whether to charge or not the device simultaneously.

I've been typing a lot on it lately, and it is quite comfortable to work with provided its resting on a hard surface. If you put this onto your lap or on an unstable surface, the keyboard tends to ply itself since there's no locking mechanism. Other than that, it is pretty nice to work for long periods of time.

Palm devices and, more specifically Cliés, are a thing of the past nowadays. Many of them are already dead and will probably never see the light of day again. Others just might be on their last legs regarding battery life. But if you've got one of these great devices laying around, and would like to give them a second life, I strongly suggest you to buy accessories like this one in order to use them as media players, dedicated gaming devices, or as note taking devices for the kitchen -hence the use for the keyboard. You can find this accesories for next to nothing here on Amazon. They look good, work great and perform many of the tasks a current smartphone those, and then some more.

Hey, who knows, maybe one of these days they'll become collectible items!

BoxWave Sprint Treo 700wx Styra - Ballpoint Pen - Stylus Replacement - Stylus UpgradeWhen I first received my replacement Stylus, I was skeptical that the pieces would easily come apart. Specifically, I was conerned that the top of the stylus, which covers the ball-point pen, would become detached and get stuck in my Treo. However, that has not been the case. My stylus has held up and lasted just fine. There is a downside to the design if you need to use the reset pin, the ball point pin barrel slips out if you're not careful. NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2: 4 TB (2 x 2 TB) Network Attached Storage RNDU2220

NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2: 4 TB Network Attached Storage RNDU2220After being a generally satisfied user of a ReadyNAS Duo for a few years I was looking to upgrade our home NAS. I use the NAS for Mac "Time Machine" backups and as a home media server....nothing too extreme. Being familiar with ReadyNAS I purchased this unit figuring it would be an easy setup with an increase in performance.

WRONG.

After having one "issue" after another attempting to get the thing up and running, including problems with hard drives that are 1) on the ReadyNAS compatibly list and 2) worked just fine in the ReadyNAS Duo, I wasted several hours trying to get this thing up and running. Even basic issues were frustrating like a user interface that would seem to "hang" or nor render graphics. I was able to toss in an old drive I had laying around just so I could boot it and update the firmware in case that was a problem but even that was painful. Finally I threw in the towel, boxed it up, and set it back to Amazon.

I had a Synology DiskStation 2-Bay (Diskless) Network Attached Storage DS212j (White) overnighted with Amazon Prime and I had that sucker up and running in less than 30 minutes. No kidding. While the DS212j is running a sync (as I type this) that will take several hours, that is expected with any initial RAID setup. The user interface of the Synology blows the ReadyNAS out of the water hands down.

device works very well and am happy with the performance. i use it to back up 2 pcs in my office. however, the ReadyNAS backup software has issues and will not work with win 7 x64, too bad as it would surely have simplified my backup needs. Did not even bother with the Memeo, looked like a toy, instead i have been using win7 backup but it is not that efficient and wastes a lot of disk space so i am going to use another backup software. i have genie so iw ill try that. i am adding another of these devices, an Ultra 4 plus (faster and more drives) to act as my file server and will use the existing to backup the file server. this way i am not shuffling files between pc's.

In general, I've been disappointed by my ReadyNAS. While it may have been a nice device ten years ago, it unfortunately shows its age in its software.

For a home user with modest experience with network storage, the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 seems like a typical device. It has a relatively attractive price and boasts of a strong feature set. The fan isn't loud, the networking is fast, and the rest of the hardware seems to get things done without trouble. Unfortunately, the good news ends here.

The first-party software is functional, yet rusty. Its custom RAID implementation requires you to wipe your disks when performing a factory reset regardless of whether you're mirroring or striping the drives. The Windows client is generally functional, but will fail to find the device if you're wired to the network. The Android client is functional, too, but it has a pre-ICS design and often runs slowly.

Its third-party addons are often out-of-date payware that is difficult for users to fix. The developers of these addons rarely respond to messages as of late. For most of its addons, you will pay someone known as WhoCares for an outdated build of free, open source software and receive no support or updates. This person maintains an inactive Twitter account and a website with no contact information.

While the ReadyNAS runs on a customized version of Debian, using apt will not only void your warranty, but will also give you access to poorly populated and maintained Netgear repositories. Want to compile something for the ReadyNAS? Good luck finding and installing all the dependencies manually.

Again, my experience with the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 has been disappointing. Unless Netgear breathes life into its stale ecosystem, I don't recommend buying any ReadyNAS devices if you plan to use modern software such as ownCloud 5, uTorrent, or anything updated after 2009.

I installed the Ultra 2 NAS as a Raid 1 Storage appliance. I setup the security and share pretty much straight forward except I had to change my local security policy to allow stronger encryption. I love the power management of the unit. It sleep when I am out of the office and is on standby when I am in the office. It's very fast, 1000 base T. The remote client works as advertised, I can access files over the internet.

I can recommend this product.

Works great for archiving my TIVO recordings and transferring media to DLNA players. Can't seem to get my Canon camera to connect to it, which is a major disappointment.

I used to order these needles from Amazon, because it said the brand was Stanton, however you won't get a Stanton needle anymore. Even it specifically states its a Stanton, chances are very high that you will get a cheap knockoff. The knockoff needle I received from Pfanstiehl (Swiss generic stylus company) is no where near as good as the original D71EE stylus. Be careful when ordering this stylus from Amazon.

Canon BJC-55 Color Bubble Jet Printer

Canon BJC-55 Color Bubble Jet PrinterOn the go, I frequently need to print out documents, be it invoices, reciepts, e-mails, etc etc so I decided to purchase this product. Words cannot describe my feelings toward it, I use it soo much with the laptops I don't know how I lived without one before. Installation on Windows 2k, and ME was flawless, both using the Fast IrDA.

The printer is just the perfect size to slide in to my briefcase, and adds little weight. It's battery operation is really what caught my eye, it says you can print about 100 pages with a full charge, but I think its a bit less than that. However, the battery takes little time to charge.

I was not aware it would come with as much ink as it did, came with 2 color cartidges, 1 black (small), and 1 black (large), as well as two trays that they are held in. The Fast IrDA is such a fabulous thing, wireless printing all the way. I decided to purchase a USB cable, its much easier some times using the cable then the IrDA (Infared) port. The quality of the documents is fantastic, matching (and beating!) my desktop printers at home. The speed is good, considering this is a portable printer. The only real drawback is that it is a single sheet feed printer, unless you buy the paper loader, which I will surely do! This is THE BEST portable printer I've found on the market, it is well worth the money.

This is a small update, I've been using the printer for about 5 months now, and everything has gone smoothly. I purchased the auto-sheet feeder from Canon (directly, from their web site) and it performs just like a normal desktop printer would! I'm still loving it.

I needed a printer to go with my Notebook and this one filled the bill. It isn't cheap but you seem to get what you pay for. When at home, adding the Auto Sheet Feeder makes it as convenient as a stationary printer but with a smaller footprint. Highly recommend this one for the Notebook users.

I watched this printer for years and I was waiting for the price to drop. I finally caved in a bought a refurb 1 year ago.

Pro: Lightweight 2Lbs(with battery), USB, battery powered, comes with AC adapter, size is small to fit in a back pack. Works with my Tablet PC software.

Con: High quality mode is slow compared to today's printers as well as resolution. Old type of feeding one page at a time. Could not get the IR to work. I suspect that my computer IR is not compatible. I just carry a very small USB cable.

I have looked at the current portable printers and they are all 5-6LBS. Yes they probably have great quality and photos but I don't need that. My purpose for this printer is to do quick print outs of 2 to 3 page reports, drafts and boarding passes. It fits so well in a computer bag with my slate and some paper.

The company that can produce a better quality printer with this size and weight will make money. That is probably why this printer has not dropped much in price even used. It's the year 2006 and it sells higher than the current canon and hp used.

Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner

Pentax DSmobile 600 ScannerWe use this scanner to digitally file our statements and bills. It scans quickly and quietly, without the need for an adapter and without taking much space on one's desk. It partners well with Adobe Acrobat -we have Acrobat Professional which allows us to crop document edges if the original is less than 8.5 x 11 -and I've seen no software compatability issues with Windows XP Home or XP Professional. It also allows you to continuously scan multiple page documents (as opposed to scanning each page as its own PDF file).

The one criticism that I have has to do with the software that accompanies the scanner. It does not apparently remember the last settings (e.g., resolution, color vs B&W, and destination directory) so you have to re-enter all of these each time you sit down to scan.

We haven't tried using it for any graphics purpose, but from what I can tell, it's not likely to perform like a flatbed scanner for this purpose, at least for serious graphics work. For a casual scan of a photo for a document or a webpage, it would probably work just fine.

Absolutely satisfied!

Update (5/2009)

Scanner still working great. Also realized OSX's "image capture" program works great with this product too (it's in your applications folder).

I just got this scanner and am using it on OSX 10.5 (Leopard); it works beautifully. I found using the scanner with Photoshop to be slow, but I was amazed to find it also works with ironicsoftware's Yep! PDF management program. You can scan directly into PDF from Yep quickly and beautifully.

You will have to download the OSX drivers from Pentax's website (it is easy to navigate and find).

I am a scholar and have used this machine to scan in articles I can't find online. The DSmobile scans a full page (black and white) in under 10 seconds. If the page has been folded (not a crisp piece of paper), you will have to make sure guide the paper with your finger, otherwise, it may get hung-up in the scanner's rollers. Overall, this is an excellent product, and it works seamlessly with my Macbook Pro.

OK, I like this product, I really do. The quality is pretty decent, it's not too slow, it's pretty easy to use. All good things. My quibbles are with the software for Mac users, or I should say, the lack thereof. All of the software that is advertised for this product is for Windows ONLY. It says that it is compatible for Mac OS X, but you have to download the drivers from the Pentax website (which is fine) but the drivers to not operate the button on the scanner, it is non-operational with Macs, and it does not include PageManager 7, so you CANNOT make PDF files with it alone, that it advertises.

Amazon's page says, "One touch of the button on the DSmobile 600 will launch your choice of compatible scanning programs. Make a preferred scanning program your default and that one touch will initiate that program." It should indicate that this applies to Windows users ONLY. If you do a little digging on Pentax's website it says it won't work. So, while this scanner is good, you need your own software, like Photoshop or other design software (or even Word:Mac) to use it.

BUYER BEWARE!! I'm not saying I regret the purchase entirely, I just don't thin it's fair that I paid for software I did not get. The 3 stars is for the software only, the scanner itself is really nice.

This little scanner is the answer for those that need a quick and convenient way to copy documents. Works exactly as it was advertised.

I'm a mortgage originator and occasionally meet my customer at a location other than my office. This is the easy alternative to a copy machine and works great when I copy driver's license (or other ID), bank statements, etc. It won't replace my larger (sheet feed) scanner for speed, but speed is okay for small jobs, and the quality is great.

I use it with my laptop to scan mainly letter sized documents, to include old mimeograph and spirit duplicator (remember the purple print?)pages and it works just as well as my flatbed scanner. I use the B&W setting for mimeo and have to switch to color for the purple print. Super convenient and easy to use if you read and follow the instructions.

This is advertised as a case for a Blackberry bold but it is too small. It will press all of the buttons. You can use it with the key guard on but I don't like the idea of my buttons being held down even with the key guard on.

Acase Capacitive Stylus Pen Combo (Twist Style) for Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Blackberry Playbook

Acase Capacitive Stylus Pen Combo for Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Blackberry PlaybookI know there are many who completely dismiss the use of a stylus and will only use a finger to manipulate a device, but I enjoy the option. I've got large hands and while the iPad has a large enough screen to be useful, touch typing on a smartphone is not always easy. Even on an iPad, when more accuracy is needed, a stylus works better for me. I'm also afraid I have not completely given up on paper-based forms and documents and always need to have a pen handy. I looked for a stylus that combined a capacitive rubber tip (the foam types such as Pogo just don't feel right to me) with a ballpoint pen. The Kensington comes close, as does the other Acase combo, but both suffer from a pen-cap that, once removed for writing, won't fit over the other end for temporarily storage. I can't just ditch the cap either, since the clip is attached to it and without the clip it won't stay in place in my pocket, not to mention that the pen would be exposed and subject to marking anything it came in contact with.

This Acase twist-style combo stulus/pen seems to have gotten it right. It uses a "Cross" type mechanism to expose the pen, with the capacitive-rubber end always exposed and accessible. The pen refills are Cross-type also, so quality refills are readily available, although the one that came pre-installed has worked well. The stylus works just fine. I find it a lot more accurate than my finger. Time will tell how durable the rubber tip is, but it seems ok so far. Using it as a pen also works well. It is heavy enough and long enough to feel like a normal pen. The only drawback I would have is that the Acase logo is a little too prominently plastered on the side of the pen. I would prefer a plain barrel and not have to always advertise for a company, but that's just me.

We decided to try out 5 stylus in the office and between us, all 4 preferred this one over all of the rest. It has the best contact response with the screen ie. you can lightly "drag" it across the screen and it will mark on the iPad. With all of the others, you had to "press" to get a mark. Not having to press GREATLY reduces hand stress and fatigue. It's also very handy having a real pen on hand as well.

We do wish that it had a Tether. That would make for the perfect option.

These are the other ones that we tested:

Both the capacitive tip and the pen work flawlessly. The pen is very high quality. It never blotches at the tip like some cheap ballpoints do and so far has not leaked.

It works as advertised. I wish the technology would advance so there could be thinner "nibs" for finer writing & drawing. The response on the tablet requires slower than normal movement. Maybe that's the tablet's fault??? I just got a stylus from Stylus-R-Us which cost $25. It has better response but still, the line is not as fine as I would like.

Want Acase Capacitive Stylus Pen Combo (Twist Style) for Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Blackberry Playbook Discount?

I should have looked at the product better, I was expecting a twist at the bottom to produce either a pen or stylus. In reality the stylus is on the other end it is far from a fine point. Will be looking elsewhere for a capacitive stylus with a fine tip.
